We visited Holey Moley to play some miniature golf, so we had to come check out Hijinx Hotel afterwards. It is right next door, and is also connected inside. It is decorated like a hotel, and hosts challenge rooms, private karaoke rooms, a sitting area, a sizeable bar and restaurant, and a speakeasy. Our main interest was to visit to the Suite 404 speakeasy. Go upstairs and look for the photo booth and you can easily figure out how to get in. The room is lit dimly with a black ceiling, red walls and furniture, and a black and white zig zag pattern on the floor. The room is dimmer than it appears in my photo. It has a nice, chill vibe. We sat against the wall, and it was definitely on the chilly side since there are air conditioning vents directly overhead. I had the Hidden Ember (Rye Whiskey, Sweet Vermouth, Campari clarified with Cream of Coconut, $15). It was a little on the sweet side as the bartender mentioned, and it had a pleasant light bitterness. She had the Raspberry Sour (Mezcal, Raspberry, Lime, Egg Whites, $15). It had a great balance of smokiness and sweetness with a light foamy top from the egg whites. Both drinks were good and very reasonably priced. I didn't catch our server/bartenders name, but she was very friendly and our drinks were prepared quickly. This is a cool place to grab a drink and relax in a calm, secluded atmosphere, unlike the rest of the Spectrum.

hour of play time. It ended up being just the two of us in all the rooms, which was really nice. I wasn't quite sure what to expect going in, but we had such a fun time and definitely worked up a sweat! My only complaint would be that the acoustics in some of the rooms weren't great, so it was occasionally difficult to hear the instructions.

Booked this place for my birthday. The venue and decor are fun, quirky, and awesome. Right when you walk in, the whole place is super cute and quirky. The challenge rooms were fun too. It's not escape room style, but you get the idea and it was still a good time. The event food, though... the ahi tuna "taco bites" were a joke. I get that the name says bite, but these were literally the size of my fingernail. At about $7 per fingernail taco, that was wild. The event time was not communicated properly. The email stated that karaoke would be an hour after we eat. However during the event, it was all lumped together with dinner so no one was really able to karaoke. My friends wanted to see if we can push for another 30 minutes but was told it was booked up. That is understandable but we didn't need Ivan to come in with his availability calendar, I didn't need to see the receipt Ivan so what was the point in that? He was really rude and condescending, and didn't want to listen to my concerns. If that was how managers talk to guest, yikes. Anyways he ruined the mood. Just be understanding, listen, and apologize. That's all that was needed. Not pull up with your damn notebook like I'm a child who didn't understand timeframe and scheduling.

Came to Hijinx Hotel and it was such a fun, chaotic game experience. We did the 30 minute session which ended up being about 5 different games. Spoilers ahead!!!! First off, the waiting area upstairs is already part of the experience. There's a free photo booth which is sooo cute and it actually leads into a bar which I did not expect at all. The whole place has this super extra, overstimulating decor but in a fun way. First game was basketball where you're just shooting into multiple hoops with these tiny balls. It was fun but probably the weakest one. The balls were hella bouncy and it didn't really match the whole hotel theme. Next was this huge tile room where you have to step on the colors it tells you. This one was SOfun and we were so close to getting a high score. Then we did the pool room which was the ball pit room where you have to throw balls into holes that light up. Not too hard but some of those holes are sooo tall!! highly recommend bringing a tall friend. After that we went into this kinda creepy room with a pig and you had to guide a metal rod through without touching the rod. I was sooo bad at this one because my hands are shaky and I kept messing up but the more u complete the more points u get. Last one was like a diner dash vibe where you're feeding guests and matching food to what's on the screen. At the end it prints cute receipt with all your points for each game and its one of my fave things of the experience. Overall I really liked the experience. The vibes are super unique and immersive even if a couple games don't fully match the theme. I would definitely come back to try the other rooms and see what else they have.

The place is super cute! We went to the speakeasy (located upstairs) and it was nice vibes and they have specific speakeasy alcohol menu. I ordered the Watermelon Fling, and it was a good refreshing drink. After that, we went downstairs to the main bar and ordered Loaded Brisket Fries and Apple A Day drink. The Loaded Bristet Fries were really good, but the sauce was a bit sweet. The Apple A Day was okay, it tasted watered down to me. Overall, cute place to hang out and chill. Recommendation(s): - Loaded Brisket Fries - Watermelon Fling Service: 5/5 Tip(s): - Park near the movie theater - Restrooms available - Speakeasy is located on the 2nd floor (Have fun finding it!)

I'm basing this rating on the pizza because it was horrible. The topping completely fell off when I picked up a slice and it didn't taste good at all. I always get skeptical when getting pizza at certain places. But however, their banh mi burger was delicious. I really liked it. The drinks were good too, very strong though.

Located at Spectrum and connected to Holey Moley is this gem. My girlfriend introduced this spot to me when she suggested the Hijinx Hotel for lunch. We sat in a booth by their bar and ordered some finger foods. We shared their wings, chicken lettuce wraps and the Elote ribs. They were all good but the elote ribs were my favorite. They were super flavorful and definitely delicious. The staff was super nice and attentive and food came quickly. Props to whoever designed this place. Every inch of it is thought out. Our dining area was beautiful. They had a cute "lobby" area which has stairs leading up to their speakeasy which was also super cute. The decor is super instagram worthy. They also had a private area to host large parties and karaoke. This is a great place for kids, large parties, or smaller ones. It's definitely worth checking out.

Overpriced & Underwhelming: LIVE! lol what a dissatisfying experience right from the beginning. Everyone ignored us as we patiently waited at the "please wait to be seated sign". Proceeded to ask one of the "too busy to see us" bartenders and they allowed to sit so kindly.... Anyway, once we sat the female bartender saw the group of girls a few mins after us and sat them and took their order before we were even acknowledged at our table. I expressed my feedback (considering this place just open) and was offered a round of water as recovery (which I thought was free). Lastly they brought ought out one of our drinks wrong... the final straw had been broken. Skip this gimmicky and cute (yet cheap) decor and go somewhere else for a drink nearby. At least you'll get your moneys worth.

You need to check this spot out! It's such a fun spot for either a date night, company outing or a night out with friends. We came for a little company outing and we all had such an amazing time. They have a lounge area with food and drinks and the decor is so unique. Our hosts Amy and Nala were great! I highly recommend if you're looking for something that brings out your competitive side.

Great little date night experience to share with your significant other! If you like puzzles and competitions, this is your cup of tea. I found the games pretty easy and engaging, but be prepared to sweat a bit. Drinks here were also surprisingly affordable. Would come back with some younger family members for a fun time.

M I recently had an amazing time at the Hijinx Hotel in Irvine, celebrating my best friend's birthday with friends. It was refreshing to see adults enjoying themselves, playing games, and sharing drinks in such a vibrant atmosphere. I genuinely believe there's nothing that needs improvement; the experience was fantastic. Next on my list is to try some of the food there, which I've heard great things about. Overall, it's a really cool place to hang out! Oh- if management sees us maybe some hand sanitizer stations.

This place felt like a real full-on hotel with a front desk and concierge. I originally came here for the speakeasy but ended up exploring through the whole place. It was filled with art, color, and great music throughout! Spoiler alert: The speakeasy was upstairs hidden through the photobooth, but I won't go through the details and let you all discover the rest for yourself. It has some unique drinks, but the menu was quite small. The smoked old fashioned comes in a cool box filled with smoke. Cool small place for some peace to escape from the louder livelier downstairs bar and the overall traffic of Irvine Spectrum . I went in not knowing what to expect from this place, but everything seem pretty interactive- there are challenge or escape rooms, mini golf, and i believe 4 different bars. I also squeezed in a quick game of Connect 4 right before heading out the front doors.

During my last visit in this area, I was looking for something fun to do. I landed on this spot. I could not gather much online what type of games or activities happen here, but I read a lot of great reviews. I just knew it was game related. We were kind of in a rush, we got there and the inside was decorated with such a unique, quirky feel. I can't really describe it, it's a wide range of interesting ideas/ things all thrown together. We had a very short time to play and I was worried that we would have to skip it but it all worked out. I'm sort of glad that the host/guy working the counter didn't really go much into detail. You can have the option to play 5 games, or 10 games or 15 games. Each game is different, you're in each room (one game per room) for a very short time. I am not going to reveal anything about the games since it would spoil it for the rest. My niece was very upset/hesitant about participating but once we got in there, I could tell they had lots of fun. I really liked this concept and I hope more places in different cities pop up. Once I'm in this area again, I plan on going back to visit to play the other games. (rooms) If you are looking for something different and fun, this should be next on your list. Beware as per usual to most Arcades with the exception of D&B's in my opinion it's going to take several $100's if not $1000's of dollars to obtain a decent prize. Unless you win jackpots. My boy's plan to save their tickets until they can get Something they want. There were a-lot Of teenage congregant's as usual to any arcade. One group threw an empty game card at my shoulder and were laughing when I looked up. Nevertheless it was a fun time.

I've now been here twice to bowl, and unfortunately both experiences were frustrating enough that I…read morewon't be bowling here again. Both visits had the same issue: the group next to us had no sense of bowling etiquette, and it was never addressed by staff. Their parties were oversized and ended up spilling into our space sitting in our seats, placing drinks on our table, and generally taking over the shared area. On top of that, their kids repeatedly came over to our lane, touching our tablet and interfering with our game. It made it really hard to enjoy what we paid for. What made it worse is that both times, the groups next to us were visibly drunk. That kind of environment might be expected at a bar, but when it starts impacting other guests' experience especially families it becomes a problem. There didn't seem to be any staff intervention to manage the situation or maintain a respectful atmosphere. Another frustrating point was the check-in process. I brought my own Brunswick bowling shoes, but I was still told I had to rent a pair anyway. The employee even said I could "just do whatever with them," which honestly makes no sense and feels like an unnecessary charge. Policies like that don't feel customer-friendly. To be fair, Big Al's is a fun place overall. The arcade games and general hangout vibe are great, and I'd still come back for that. But the bowling experience itself just isn't worth it based on what I've experienced. There's definitely room for improvement staff should be more proactive about enforcing basic bowling etiquette, making sure groups stay within their assigned seating areas and respect neighboring lanes. Better monitoring, especially when alcohol is involved, could help prevent disruptive behavior. Clear limits on group sizes per lane, ensuring kids stay within their own lane, and revisiting the shoe rental policy for guests who bring their own equipment would all go a long way in improving the experience. There's definitely potential here, but the bowling side needs better structure and oversight.
