I love this place! It's so fun and whimsical! I love how this place is fun for families, kids, adults, work events, etc. there is a secret bar, and free digital photo booth. You check in at the front desk with your group and get a room card. You wait for your host in a funky waiting room. They take you in an elevator that reminds me of the Tower of Terror. They have 3 groups of challenge rooms. I've done 2 so far. I hope they change them yearly to give people a reason to keep coming back. They have a few cute merch for sale too. Your group is actually competing against the other groups of the day. You get to do 5 themed rooms and get your final score and ranking at the end. You can print your scorecard. It can take anywhere from 30-60 min depending on how busy it is when you get there. It's linked to Holey Moley mini golf place which is pretty cool, too (separate review). I really hope they stay in business. It's nice to have fun options to do that aren't too crazy expensive. It's nice to actually put the phones away and hang out even if for 10 min at a time!! read more

A fun (albeit a little chaotic) place to spend an afternoon. I came here for a friend's birthday and we were in a group big enough to divide into two teams so we got to compete against each other. I guess it's relatively new so it's a little chaotic with all the people there and how confusing the set up can be initially? But the games are fun, the staff are helpful, and the bars are a nice touch. Keep in mind that the lockers the provide don't have locks so don't bring anything too valuable unless you want to keep it on you in every room! The speakeasy entrance is through a Photo Booth so sometimes you have kids accidentally peering inside lol. Anyways overall a pretty unique and novel way to celebrate! read more

Hijinx Hotel is a game room with a bar (don't let the name fool you), and honestly the speakeasy experience might have been the highlight of our visit. Before our game started, we headed over for a drink and let's just say getting there is half the fun. Once inside, the bar itself felt like stepping into the Overlook Hotel, so when we noticed our bartender Mike wearing a tie with the iconic carpet pattern from The Shining, it all felt very intentional. We ordered vodka sodas and Mike dove right into his vodka knowledge, clearly knows his stuff, and somehow we found ourselves deep in a conversation about Kubrick films. My husband and I genuinely did not want to leave for our game, and it's not every day you find a bartender who can match your enthusiasm for Kubrick. We hosted our child's 3rd birthday party last weekend at the Hijinx Hotel restaurant area, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Before the event, we visited the venue to check the space, and Ivan was very patient in showing us around and explaining everything. He made us feel confident about booking the space. On the day of the party, I especially want to thank our event hosts -- Aiden, Sarah, and David. The success of the party truly would not have been possible without their help. They were attentive, supportive, and made everything run smoothly from start to finish. When hosting a party, what really matters is how cooperative and flexible the restaurant team is -- and thanks to them, everything went seamlessly. This is a really cool concept of an entertainment venue that feels immersive and fun. From first glass when you walk in there seems to be escape rooms, a bar and some event rooms. We chose to do karaoke that night and it turned out to be in an event room, which turned out to be a huge room for 7 people. I understand they are probably just trying to have multi purpose rooms but having karaoke in this room seemed a bit daunting. The karaoke system itself was great, had access to lots of modern songs and the system was relatively easy to use. My only gripe was that the song selector is at the front of the room instead of where people sit so people had to huddle at the front to find songs while someone was singing versus having an iPad that could be used where you're sitting like most other karaoke places. The drinks at the bar were themed and quite fun. The panda drink was very cute and there was a flamingo drink that had a bubble of mystery smoke. After singing we also checked out the speak easy which is upstairs near the library of books. I won't spoil where it is but you'll probably notice a line for it. The speakeasy itself was not big with limited seating and very loud. They need some sound dampening material in there. They also just let however many people in and don't limit it so there's a lot of people just standing around which for a speakeasy didn't feel as intimate as it should. I preferred the bar downstairs where there was plenty more seating. I haven't checked out the games yet but next time we will! read more

Had the opportunity to go to Hijinx Hotel after a family and friends event in the area to hang out. The food and drinks were ok, the ambiance was interesting and fun decor. It was really busy being a Saturday evening which is understandable. They have a full service bar, karaoke rooms you can rent by the hour, miniature golf, and challenge rooms, where your asked to play certain games. We had children with us who were under the age of 21, so we had to check out by 9 p.m. Will visit again, until next time enjoy! read more

I booked a game of 5 challenges for me and my partner online on a Friday night. I checked in early before our time. We were seating waiting in the library until 25 minutes past our booked time. I wasn't pleased that I was forced to wait so long. You should go into this fresh and know that there are simple physical interactive games. It is harder to do well at the games with 2 people, so the more people, the higher you can score. Doing 5 took around 25 minutes; a few games took awhile to understand. I had a fun time overall! I don't think doing this again would make for the same enjoyment. It was fun to go to the speakeasy after though the raspberry sour cocktail I had was very weak. read more

This is a 10/10 experience. It's immersive experience where you play games and solve riddles and stuff in that nature. I had such a good time. It's a bunch of different room with different challenges. The theme is a hotel experience they give you a room key where you need to use it to enter the rooms and play the games. Hijinx Hotel just opened last month and what a concept!! I love new experiences and what a fun first experience! Came with my daughters and their boyfriends so there was a total of 6 of us and we did 5 challenges. At first they crammed a large group of people into one elevator and we had to all move to the center of the elevator so the door would close. I thought to myself, why do they make the groups so big ???? So my initial impression wasn't good. But after we split into our own group for the challenges it was well orchestrated. Some of the games/challenges took us a minute to figure out so I recommend reading the instructions on the door first and then listen to the instructions on the speaker before you start the challenge in order to score more points. With that said we all still had a lot of fun! A great new experience for all! read more

*No spoilers on how to find your way into the speakeasy, because that's part of the fun.* Husband and I visited the hidden speakeasy in Hijinx Hotel, called Suite 404, last night, and were incredibly impressed with the cocktails and service. Matt was our bartender and he was flexible with our drink requests, knowledgeable about the unique liquors and cocktails they have, and so fun to chat with. Husband and I are craft cocktail fans, and found the menu cocktails to be surprisingly high-end, given that the location is in a family-friendly outdoor shopping mall. We each had a Sazerac, husband ordered an off-menu Last Word, and I ended with a glass of red blend wine that I almost instantly regretted because the cocktails are THAT good. The speakeasy doesn't really serve food, outside of some small accompaniments you can order, i.e. mixed olives, potato chips, popcorn. Decor is simultaneously moody, kitschy, and indulgent. I can say the same about the unique cocktails. Suite 404 is 21+, which they do enforce. I returned today alone to try the Main Bar at Hijinx Hotel lobby for lunch because I was curious about the food, and I had the best time! Everyone working there is so friendly and knowledgeable -- bartender Amanda took good care of me and the other patrons, giving great food recommendations; I learned a lot peppering bartender Harley with questions about the location(s) and mixology; server Demi and I chatted about our mutual love of healthy good food and shared some recipes. It says something when the employees are consistently that warm and friendly to their customers. The specialty cocktails there are just as interesting as in the speakeasy but on a different theme and very photogenic, and it's a completely different cocktail menu, so you really need to check out each bar location (there are 3, the 3rd being in the miniature golf section, Holey Moley) to experience the creativity fully if you're cocktail fans like I am. After watching Harley juice fresh Granny Smith apples for immediate use in a cocktail in a commercial juicer, I had to try the drink, called Apple A Day. I've never had fresh juice and bourbon before, but it won't be my last! Foodwise, I ordered the banh mi smash burger (a deliciously tasty burger with banh mi toppings, so well incorporated) and elote corn ribs (fun and delicious to eat, very flavorful, cooked in a way that somehow doesn't stick to teeth). Hijinx Hotel + Holey Moley is such a unique concept, and the food and drink hold up their own there! We already have plans to return soon for the Holey Moley miniature golf experience. read more

Definitely worked up a light sweat and was ready for drinks and a bite after! That's when we met Adrian at the bar! He knows how to take care of his guests, it wasn't just us he took care of every guest in the bar like they were truly his VIP guests of the night! The first thing I have to say is I can't wait to go back here!!! My partner and I went on opening weekend, on accident. We were exploring Irvine Spectrum for the holiday lights and to see the tree. We did the Ferris wheel and kind of felt like it wasn't enough. We were about to give up and drive over an hour home, when we looked up somewhere to eat and found Hijinx Hotel. We actually were going to go to Holey Moley. Because we go to the one in Santa Monica often and it's really fun. But then we saw that Hijinx was attached to holey moley and part of it. Which makes total sense for the vibe. We walked in and were amazed at the decor. There's so much cool stuff to see. We figured out it was an interactive experience of sorts. A bunch of mini games and themes. Kind of like an escape room but more active. They let you "stay for a night" to figure out if you'd like it, and try an experience for free. Which we did and loved it. So we decided to get food first. They were out of a few things. It was opening weekend. That's fine. It's a little pricey but standard for the type of experience it is. We got tofu lettuce cups and fried pickles and jalapeños. Both were delish. It was great they had vegan options! The drinks were yummy too but definitely weak in strength. Cool concepts though. The games themselves were so fun. I have to say you have to be in shape to do them. I'm not and struggled a bit haha. But still worth it. It was just my fiancé and I and we did pretty good score wise. I think you can have up to 6 people in a room though. Which would help. We only did one "stay" and can't wait to go back for the other two. AND, they have a speakeasy. Which I'm always a sucker for. Getting to it is a fun adventure if you do it the right way. Make sure to get your photo taken ;) The drinks in there are different than the main bar too which is cool. Lastly, I have to shoutout Caroline. She was the BEST. All the workers are great. Truly seem to love the place already. But Caroline was so funny and fit right in. She made me want to do all of the things and is a reason we're going to go back. Overall, it's a pricey night out. The rooms were very fun and the perfect amount of challenge. My friends and I had a great time and can't wait to return. When I called to confirm our booking no one picked up the phone. I tried multiple times. That made it difficult to get further information if needed. I do wish the employees had microphones when going over guidelines as it was difficult to hear. It felt somewhat chaotic and over stimulating with trying to understand what was happening before the rooms. Felt cattled through. Also it was uncomfortable going into elevator and having to squeeze together in order for sensor to work. Other than that it was a great time! We will be returning!! read more

We went to this Game Center today and played 5 games, costs $46 for 2 players. Rooms 801 to 805. Each room is about 5 minutes long so it went by quick. Some working out in the rooms and forgot to bring water, which you will need. Overall a fun entertainment experience and would recommend to others as a group outing. Think each room should only have 3-4 players max as the space is rather confined. read more

We took our son here as a birthday treat and while the concept is fun, the overall experience didn't quite match the price. Our booking stated 30 minutes, but we were finished in about 20 minutes, which felt short for what we paid. Another thing to consider is that children are charged the same as adults. We brought our 6-year-old and while she did enjoy herself, realistically she only fully participated in one of the five rooms. In the final room with the hoops, she couldn't reach them, so I had to lift her up just so she could try to play. The experience itself is creative and entertaining, but it may be better suited for adults or older kids. Offering a discounted child rate or adjusting some of the setups to be more accessible for younger visitors would make a big difference. Overall, it was a fun one-time visit, but given the price and short duration, we'd probably consider returning with adult friends rather than bringing younger children again. read more

The challenges were definitely fun and very visually appealing for kids. He had a great time playing and we were also able to bring in our one-year-old, who didn't play, of course, but looked around everywhere.
