Just visited Hiro Buffet again after the COVID-19 shutdown. We are so glad they have reopened for dining. They are doing a phenomenal job of meeting the COVID requirements. All the staff wear masks, face shields, and plastic gloves. Customers have their temperature taken as they enter the restaurant. Each customer is given a pair of plastic gloves for use when getting their food. Customers are also required to wear masks as they go to the food tables. Apart from those extremely minor inconveniences, everything is as it was prior to the pandemic. You still have an amazing array of sushi choices. You still have a dizzying number of choices for fish, pork, chicken and beef dishes, in addition to the tables of salads and desserts. All of that is still at the same prices as before. We don't know how they are able to do it, but we are so grateful that they are. read more

Denver doesn't have near the 'Chinese' buffets that other cities have so I was very bummed out to find nothing near me in Castle Rock when I moved here over a year ago. I just by chance passed by Hiro's a couple of weeks ago and made it a point to visit it. At first I was very leery as some of the newer reviews were not savory. But, this restaurant was AWESOME! I found the food hot and fresh from the kitchen. There was a large variety of tasty sushi and very artfully made. They kept the crab legs comin' as customers were loading up their plates skyhigh. Everything I sampled was hot, tasty and fresh. The wait staff was very attentive. Our visit was on a Friday around 5:30 pm and we did not have to wait for a table but the place was hoppin'! Clean plates were plentiful at the buffet line and all the food was kept fresh and full. There was someone continually keeping the buffet line tables clean and orderly. I would recommend three stars for attentive service and abundance of choice, however the food quality was closer to 2 stars IMHO. There was tremendous selection of soups, appetizers, noodle dishes and desert. The sushi tasted akin to grocery store sushi to me... Maybe less than. I finally had a chance to arrange a birthday party for this place and many of us were glad we came. I had always wanted to try this place every time that I drove by it on Parker Road. The sushi and selection of main dishes were excellent - and, when you consider that it is all you can eat for $19 plus tax, this is a good deal. The sushi was great and the Chinese dishes were also good quality. The pepper beef stir-fry had very tender meat and was quite flavorful. And the choice of seafood was impressive. The service was good, considering how busy the place was. Everyone was friendly and the staff kept very busy to see that plates and soup bowls were available. (Which went fast!!) The problems that I have with this restaurant lay in three areas: 1. The Mongolian Grill station: a. The amount of vegetable choices were a lot less that other restaurants; b. my wife ordered a stir-fry with teriyaki sauce, mine with Mongolian, and we could not tell the difference in taste (I watched the cook and he only splashed a small amount of our sauce choice on less than a minute before service so it had no time to flavor the food; c. lastly, the chunks of zucchini were very thick and obviously cut from an old plant as it contained a lot of seeds. 2. The hot and sour soup: This was the sourest version that I have every eaten in any restaurant. Also, there was little, if any, meat and the vegetables were not cooked. Everything was crunchy so all I could do is finish the sour broth. I left half unfinished, and needless to say, I'll never eat this again. 3. Health safety - many customers used the same tongs to pick up food from several trays and the food choices were left under the lights for a long time. The stir fry chef used the same spatulas to turn and serve the beef, chicken and shrimp stir-frys that were cooking. If a person with a shellfish allergy stated that he/she had such an allergy and directly asked the chef to be careful, their words would fall on deaf ears. As the rating category suggests - I've tasted better food in many other restaurants but the value for the price will drive me back again - but only for different items. read more

The food is really good but the receptionist and the waitress were the problem. We had made a reception for 15 people originally and then called 20 minutes later to inform that now we want a reception for 17 people. When arriving we only had a table of 14 people when we said we were having a reception for 17 people (it was a birthday that we were celebrating) and when we asked to move a table to the table of fourteen they didn't want to even help us. The receptionist was insisting that we made a reception for 15 people, that we can't move a table to our table, and that we can't switch of tables even after clarifying that we had called 20 minutes later to say that we were now bringing 17 people. We ended up moving 4 family members on another table. Ok that was already frustrating but then when we payed the waiter wasn't even talking to us well she wasn't even speaking on a high voice, she overcharged us, she insisted we had more than 17 people and wanted us to pay for 2 kids we brought when one of them wasn't even old enough, she even wanted us to pay for a table of people that wasn't even ours, and at the end of it all she did not put her name on the receipt and she made us pay $60 of Tips, she wasn't even treating us well and she barely even came to our table. Since it was a birthday the birthday person shouldn't have been paying. We were always treated well from the first time we came here but this was frustrating and awful. I wouldn't be posting this bad review if it wasn't one of my favorite restaurants in where I expect for my family and I to be respected and treated well. read more

As far as Asian buffets go, Hiro is one of the few that has managed to do it right. The atmosphere is so-so. However, they have so many average to above average options that you'll always find something you're in the mood for. The hot food is certainly above average relative to other buffets, and the sushi bar is one of the best I've been to. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. She had a ton of crab, so it was worth it. I totally forgot there was a hibachi grill station. We arrived slightly before rush hour, less than an hour when it was open for dinner, so that was a good call. Later that evening on our way out it got crazy packed with big families coming in. I've been probably a couple dozen times since then and this place never disappoints. You can't beat the lunch buffet during the week for $10. They have a sort of desserts, assorted fruits and salads, hot dishes, soups, they have a Hibachi Grill back in the corner where you put everything that you want on a plate and give it to the chef and he prepares it for you with your choice of sauce. They also have sushi and sashimi. He gets 5 stars because this place is always clean it's always busy to keep the food always fresh at least when I've been for the buffet during the week. They do not have crab legs during the week on the buffet but they do on the weekends on the buffet. That's why you pay extra but it is definitely worth it if you want crab legs but it will be extra busy. I travel all over the city and Denver try almost every Oriental restaurant I can in I just love going back to this place. Try it you won't be disappointed. read more

This is the WORST dining-in experience I've ever had in my life. Me and my 6 years old daughter came to Colorado mountains for vacations, had a very early, delayed, long flight from another state and decided to grab some food before going to our hotel which was 2,5 hours away from the airport. My daughter asked me to go to the Japanese buffet. I went to google and chose Hiro. First we took a miso soup which smelled like chlorine, had a film on the top and a strange taste. I decided to try something else and ate some more hot food. My 6 years old daughter took herself and ate some sushi. When I had a closer look, I saw that all of them were not fresh. Fish, avocado, other ingredients looked like they were made long time ago. We stopped eating. I still didn't want to make a problem. My daughter was upset but I explained her that I didn't want us to have problems and offered to try some fruit and deserts. We put some peaces of cantaloupe but they smelled really bad. Bananas, oranges, tomatoes, cucumbers, deserts, etc. also looked bad. My daughter didn't want to eat them and became more upset. I kindly informed a staff member. They started to call other employees one by one, talked Chinese between each other and didn't solve a situation for maybe half an hour. Finally they offered a 20% discount but I said that we didn't eat for such an amount and that I would pay if they gave us at least some fresh fruit. They said that all of their food was fresh and didn't give anything. I asked them to smell cantaloupes and to look at the sushi on my plate. They refused to do that. I called a manager again. ALL THE TIME I was calm and respectful. Finally a man came and started to rudely talk to me saying that because we ate food, we needed to pay. I asked him: "Did you see what we ate?" He didn't listen. I took my plate with all that bad food I had on it and asked to say if he considers it fresh. He snatched a plate out of my hands screaming "Don't take it to go, you didn't pay for that!" I said that I wasn't going to do that, would pay for it and asked to give it back to me. He continued shouting at me, now with DISCRIMINATING words mentioning the country he thought I was from, threatening and offering to feel free to call the police or any other authority. He acted AGGRESSIVELY and scared both me and my daughter. Those were seconds, he didn't stop, we immediately started to run outside, he threw the plate with my food into me and followed us. I called the police. He saw that and called the police as well. Later on I realized that he'd told them that I'd not paid the bill and run away. Basically, if I wanted to run, I would't have stayed there for one hour trying to FAIRLY AND PEACEFULLY solve the problem! Policemen were nice, looked at both of us, understood the situation, agreed with me but asked me to pay them 20$ because he had silent cameras where it's shown that we'd run away which was kind of against us. I decided not to waste the precious vacation time on such kind of people and places, have the policeman 20$ and we left, WITH STOMACH PROBLEMS. I will come back to my state and forget this DISGUSTING buffet with a BAD, DANGEROUS FOR THE HEALTH FOOD and INADMISSIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. We went here for my cousin's birthday dinner and he got a free meal. This buffet has very little variety compared to other buffets I've been to, but the oysters, snow crab legs, mussels, and ice cream makes up for it. The oysters taste kind of weird, my whole table thought the same too and we couldn't put our finger on why it tastes so much different than other oysters. I ate about 3 plates of these and I didn't get sick so it has that going for it. I really like how they set up the ice cream. They put little sealed cups of ice cream in the ice cream cooler. This is a lot more cleaner and less icky than just having tubs of ice cream with metal scoopers. Their sushi variety was also lacking, but I still enjoyed their small selection. The crayfish was very bland with no seasoning or flavor. I'm used to Cajun food so tasting flavorless crayfish almost made me gag. Overall lots of cons and small amount of pros to try and make up for it. read more

Well, wake up Aurora!!!..We are finally having a decent Chinese Buffet to go to, We came there about 7pm on a Sat night and we had to wait for about 10mins to seat in, it was crowded, thats the good sign of a restaurant, people know where to go to have good food. On my first impression about the new HIRO buffet is that the new owner took over the last Chinese LD buffet, which was pretty bad, so they must have ran out of business?...The dinning room seems to be the same lay-out as the last Resto, but the food was much better taste and flavors, they have snow crabs which is very good, the crabs tastes Not salty as the other places, i like the deep fried blue crabs, the saute' octopus, the stirred fried chicken wings, beef and broccoli, hot and source soup, fresh oysters, and the spare ribs, all in all the menu is good and the flavors especially is all good, not too salty or too much MSG...The waitresses were all hustled to help and clean up fast, we had plenty of good food that evening, the food as you see here in the web page, may be the price is 1 dollar too high, but they do serve fresh snow crab legs, that is why. In my opinion this is probably one of the best quality Asian restaurants in the Denver metro area. They have always offered an impressive variety of delicious food. They also have a massive sushi bar probably one of the most largest ones I have ever seen. I never liked the expensive prices at this restaurant but this is pretty common with many Asian buffet restaurants in this economy. Disappointing. I had medium expectations. It's a buffet with sushi. I didn't expect the quality to be top notch going in. First thing: the crab legs are served cold on ice which is unusual in my experience. No butter. No tools to crack the shell. The crab meat itself was barely edible. I had put several sets of legs on my plate and felt forced to finish them because of prominent signs everywhere about finishing your plate. If you think you are going to go here and beat the house by stuffing your face with as much crab as your belly will hold, you best think again, son. Ain't gon' happen. You will lose that battle. The sushi quality was on the low end. Still edible. Not great though. I sampled some other offerings on the menu, but many were unexpectedly flavorless and bland. I am no culinary gourmand. I don't exactly know how to describe what's going on with these dishes, but the taste is somehow off a lot of the time. Plenty of customers there, though. For $20, I would hard pass on going back. Definitely a quantity over quality issue here. Better off going to a true all you can eat sushi place that specializes in sushi only. The asian dishes supplied that populate chinese restaurants are inexplicably subpar in taste despite looking palatable. And the crab legs I was looking forward to are essentially "technically edible" for sustenance but not something I would choose to eat if I had other options. read more

With more options and the sushi was better instead of 5-6 different kinds they had over 30 different kinds. The only bummer part is the price.
