First let me start off by saying I'm not one to give a bad review but this time I have too. This place is small so it was pretty packed. From the moment we sat down we were rushed. I had 3 different waitresses come up to the table in less then 5 mins to try and take an order. Once we ordered the food which came out extremely fast, all 5 of our rolls were falling apart. The rice was just falling off the rolls and the rolls were coming apart as soon as you picked it up. To top it off while we were sitting at the table they asked if we could pick up the table and move it over about a foot so they could squeeze another table next to us. While eating they would come up to the table every 2 mins asking if we wanted anything else. Soon as I finished my food it was picked off the table in less then 5 seconds. They asked if we wanted dessert while my wife was still eating. We were turned off at this point and said no. They put the bill on the table immediately. Good Value and Good Service! I'll be back. There were 4 of us and we ordered all kinds of stuff from appetizers to sushi to rolls to a rice bowl with bulgogi. We weren't keen on the edamame or the shrimp tempura... the edamame seemed "mushy" like it was frozen and then overcooked... and the shrimp tempura was small and again seemed like it came it was a pre-made item that had been frozen....I'd suggest you pass on these two. But everything else we had was Tasty! And the pricing for most of the rolls were $8! I thought this was a good deal considering rolls at other places in town start at $10! :) The gyoza was excellent... very meaty and served hot. The wrapper was perfect... not too thick and not too thin and was cooked so it had a light crunch while the insides were moist and meaty. Nice! We also got the Blue Fin tuna and Toro sushi. Really fresh! I loved the Blue Fin and my girl friend loved the Toro. So, win-win. :) And then we ordered a few different rolls (3 or 4)... I can't remember all of them but I do remember that they were nicely prepared and presented... and had great flavors! And More Importantly....were NOT drowning in sauce. This is a HUGE PLUS for me since I do NOT like my rolls swimming in sauce like some other places like to do. The rice bowl with bulgogi was excellent! The meat was flavorful and there was lots of it. We also had a few beers... and our total before tip was $108 and we were all very full when we left. :) The wait staff and manager were attentive and helpful. They all had a smile on their face and made sure we had food and drinks. What was nice is that we put our order in piece-meal. Meaning, we started with a couple things and then would order something else and then a few minutes later order another thing... it went on like this for our entire meal. That way we could gauge how much more we wanted to eat rather than ordering it all up front and then having too much food. LOL! Staff was totally on board with us doing this. :) read more

Chicken teriyaki and beef bulgogi was amazing and flavorful. Comes with salad, tempura veggies and shrimp, rice and 8 pieces of spicy tuna rolls. We shred it. More than enough. I am dropping my review down 2 stars from before based on my most recent experience. I went to eat here on the 10th, my birthday. It was myself, my daughter, my best friend, and her daughter. Started out okay. I got there first and was given menus and water right away. Waited about 10 minutes for my friend to arrive. When she arrived, a male server came over to take our orders. He never offered to get my friend or her daughter drinks. Half way through dinner, a man at the table next to us accidently spilled his bowl of soy sauce on the floor, which splashed all over my friend. The restaurant did nothing for my friend. She had to get someone's attention to get napkins brought over. No offer to help clean up or anything. Very rude. Then, after we paid, we were chatting for a few minutes. The server actually came over and asked us to leave because they had other reservations coming in. We hadn't even been there an hour. Very, very rude. The restaurant wasn't full either. I will most likely never be back. Go to Kaizen or Sushi Wa. read more

Ordered take out service and "Pear" (sp?) was so kind and patient with helping me choose four rolls that showcased the variety of flavors they offer. Food was ready upon arrival as promised and for around $50 it was enough for two people. However I'm giving 4 stars and not five because although we were satisfied and agreed the sushi was yummy, it wasn't stand out enough that I would order the same ones...but yummy enough that I would like to try more items from their menu! I am currently sitting inside the restaurant, eating and had to write this. The staff is so polite and attentive! Helping me select things like the mango creamy soda and sashim. At this time they're not too busy but the person would recommendEd I come here said they can become busy easy and I see why. With the amazing customer service to the deliciousness and quality of the food, this should be a favorite for everyone who loves sushi. Above and beyond! The wife and I were coming home from visiting family in Calif. Decided we would stop in for sushi. Not even thinking it was a Monday and they were closed. So as we get out of the car, my wife trips up the curb falling down and dislocating her elbow!! We went to the front door and even though they were closed and working on the floor of the restaurant, they let us come in to get some water and use the restroom. Offered to call an ambulance, then made sure I knew where the emergency room was to take her to. My wife went back in a few days after all this happened with her sister. Went here for the first time yesterday to get food to-go. They have a great menu with tons of options and pictures. It was easy to order food and the prices were reasonable. Once I got the food at home, I realized that the sushi rolls are a fairly large size compared to other places. My girlfriend and I couldn't even finish four rolls; compared to five or six each when we go to AYCE. Two of the rolls we got are now my favorite sushi rolls I've ever had. I'll be back! read more

Have not been to Hiroba since it opened. Our go-to sushi place on this side of town is Sushi HIRO (next to Taco Y Taco) because they also serve dishes that are authentic Japanese, like Chawanmushi. But a friend asked me to meet her there. We walked in at 6pm on Thursday night. Waiter told us we could sit ANYWHERE. Place not full. We sat at a table for 4 (since restaurant not full and table for 2 was right by the door and it was chilly). During dinner, 3 waiters seemed to try and hurry us up even though we had not been there more than 45min, e.g. will you need take-out boxes, here is the check. We were only halfway through dinner. One waiter finally said that the manager (very rude Korean lady at the front) wanted us to finish up and pay. I told her that we eat out often and I have never been rushed like this. There were no signs that set time limits (like 90min) for dining anywhere. And we had just been there less than an hour. I am guessing that it is because we sat at a table for 4 and there were only two of us? But not all seating was full. And the 4 diners next to us were leaving. At any rate, the sushi was just OK. But the rudeness of the manager will have a lasting impression. All three waiters who serviced us apologized. I usually leave a 20% tip but I couldn't this time. I will never go back here again. Sushi Hiro has fresher sushi and everything on the menu is great. The staff is always wonderful. read more

So I'm updating this review based on all the take out orders I have made since my first dine in experience. Since my first visit my favorites have been: Uni Nigiri Salmon Belly Nigiri Masago Nigiri Salmon Skin Hand Roll Hamachi Kama (not a fan of their ponzu) I have ordered a few hot dishes but their Spicy Pork is really good! Today I dined in for lunch. I ordered the usual. Everything was so good. But the Uni wasn't to my liking today which I was sad about since this place has consistently delivered on their Uni. But the manager came and talked to me about the different seasons and how they affect the flavor profiles of the Uni. Whatever the case I felt bad returning it but she made sure I left satisfied. I'm giving 5 stars because you can't beat their prices!! I had salmon belly for $2.99!!! And Salmon Skin Hand Roll for $2.50!!! What?! Come on, this place is unbeatable when it comes to price! Then the menu Then the service/atmosphere . Then the food. The server at the restaurant was rude. Menu ok. The service was slow. Food was ordered and took forever and a day to get a small order out It was fresh and tasted great. But I'm going to revisit to give it a second chance. However I cannot tolerate the controlling pushy manner in which we were handled by the owner. She kept repeating the same thing over and over as if we were in her grade schoolroom! We ordered 3 rolls for 2 people. Sever forgot to put the order in for the roll I wanted and didn't come back to the table until we were almost finished. When I asked her to check on the food, she said of that roll (The Barbie) takes longer. But then walked to the terminal to pull up our ticket. She then noticed the order was not in the system. I know she heard and understood the initial order as she tried to upsell cream cheese on the roll and I declined. Anyway, we had errands to run so we paid our check and left. The restaurant was not busy. Other food was good, but not my favorite as they were my partner's choices. I just read thru the comments and it seems the restaurant is under new ownership. It shows.
