I am conflicted about this place. My wife and I have been to HM at least 4 times for couples hot stone massages. Some sessions were better than others but that's part of the game since each masseuse work differently. My concern is how the business may be operated. Please be advised that I have no proof of what I will write. This is strictly a personal opinion and a gut feeling when you are around the workers. I smell forced labor. I've tried out at least a dozen of these inexpensive massage parlors over the years in the Pasadena area and this past experience was by far the best I've had. Before I decided to do a walk-in I was at home in pain trying to rub out a stubborn shoulder knot while debating on whether or not to take my chances on a new spot. Glad I did because my masseuse, Sophia, was just the remedy I needed, she destroyed the knot in the most relaxing way. She didn't just knead me mindlessly like I was a piece of raw meat; a lot of the other places nearby do. I've always gone to a beautiful Day spa, but when I moved within walking distance to here, I wanted to try it out. The first time I went, it was late at night and they were able to squeeze me in and they actually had me in a private room, instead of in the lobby where you can hear everyone talking and blowing their nose and asking stupid questions. The most recent time that I came in here, the woman actually asked if I was pregnant. She then kept asking me if I was sure that I wasn't after I had already said no...The biggest no-no in the world, especially from one woman to another. Not only am I mortified, and vulnerable, and in less than appealing clothing ready to get a massage by a woman who is already judging me, now you want me to relax to get a $25 massage that really was cut 45 minutes? I lived in China, and I understand that these are not the quietest places, especially when you're getting a value massage. But having it in the lobby, with no consideration to the people who are in there trying to relax. It also makes me question why this is only a female masseuse spot?? Thank God I didn't book the couples massage with my boyfriend... Could you imagine arriving and then the woman asking you repeatedly if you're sure you are pregnant?! read more

My wife and I usually frequent A Beautiful Day Spa on Colorado, but HM Warm Spa is even closer and we decided to give it a try. I will NEVER RETURN to HM Warm Spa, and may even take them to court for INJURING ME. I posted a photo earlier showing the deep bruising I received. As evident as the injuries are in the photo, it is actually MUCH WORSE! I am generally of the opinion that most bad massages are the fault of the consumer because most people aren't very vocal about their preferred pressure, or are passive aggressive about their enjoyment or lack thereof, but today I instructed the masseuse to please soften her pressure no less than FIVE TIMES. I requested medium pressure at the beginning of the session and had to constantly request that she ease up. I would have left in the middle but my wife and I were there for a couples massage in the same room and I didn't want to ruin her session. I am VERY BADLY BRUISED, and in EXTREME PAIN. When we left and paid I told the manager (when she asked how we enjoyed it) that I had instructed her employee five times to lessen the force and pressure and that I was not happy with the session. After we left and as the day progressed, I became more and more aware of the soreness until by this evening I was nearly incapacitated by the aches and pains. I am heavily tattooed and have undergone marathon tattoo sessions lasting in excess of 14 hours and not experienced this level of discomfort. I was once hit in the chin with a swinging pick-axe, and it didn't hurt like this. I actually almost lost a finger in a slammed door, and while that stang like a son-of-a-gun, it didn't last or accelerate like this. It feels like I was in a car accident. If I had NOT said anything, it would be a different situation, but it is RIDICULOUS that after expressing a preference for medium pressure and interrupting her five times to vocally request a lighter touch that I have received this level of deep bruising and discomfort. I am incredulous about this entire FIASCO, and it's not like this place is inexpensive, either. I can not advise strongly enough against this place. read more

Gosh, I really wanted to love this place or at the very least, like the place. We'd planned on walking over but ran short on time so we drove. Parking was simple enough, right on Green Street. I had scheduled two foot massages (which are basically full body) we've been through this before and I frankly have given up trying to understand or even caring why a foot massage is called a foot massage when at these smaller type places it's a full body massage, in your clothes, not on a massage table but on a lounge type lazy boy seat. Anyways, scheduled the massage weeks ago and walked in to them not having us on the schedule for the day - they had a bunch of 626 numbers which made sense since we were in Pasadena which I do not live and I could clearly see although I had spoke with someone named Amy weeks ago my name and number were not on the list. We were then taken to a small sectioned off part of their reception/lobby area where a few chairs were. This would have been fine, although in comparison to other foot spas this area was very bright during the day time with no way to really dim or darken the room so I might as well have been on the sidewalk of Green street. It was extremely loud and noisy which was a given because we were in the lobby! The phone rang continuously, and phone calls were being made during the entire duration of our massages. The door opened and closed, where more light and street noise came in, conversations in the lobby (which we were in, but on the other side of a wall divider), balloons being brought in and let loose to float to the top of their high ceilings were they bounced around and were caught and moved about. All of this while we were trying to enjoy a foot massage. Honestly, it may have been one if not the worse massage I've ever had in life. I was tense the entire time and unable to relax or drown out the constant noise. The massage itself was not horrible but wasn't great in any way either. Water was offered following the massage, but I would have rather had a tea option. I needed a massage from the massage I left so tense. Terrible! My expectations were high with the plethora of 5 star ratings which ultimately may have left me even more disappointed. I would not recommend this place for the foot massage, unless there is a different area that is not in the lobby which provides dimmer lighting and far less noise. read more

Came here a little less than a month ago with the s.o. Reserved a private room for the 90 min deep tissue massage with free hot stones. We had Linda and Cindy (don't know who had who) and they were just excellent. Parking was a little bit of a hassle (only 1 hour parking on E. Green St.) but I found out one of the streets (S. Catalina Ave.) allows 2 hour parking so we parked there. We made an appointment ahead of time and were able to come in and go straight into the room. The private room with the shower is the one closest to the entrance; to the left of the reception desk. They pointed out that that was the room we were to use and once we got in, they just closed the door.... at this point we didn't know what to do; no instructions were given... but then I remembered when I called in to make the reservation, they said it was no clothes. After undressing and laying on the bed, face in the hole with towel covering, the masseuse comes in and asks if you would like the hot stones and what your pain tolerance is. Whenever I have a chance, I always go for deep tissue massages so I asked for the best she's got and OHHH MYYY, it was so good I was falling asleep. With both of us having been stressed with work, this was the best thing we could have done for our bodies, They don't only put the stones on your back, they also use the stones to massage you. I, honestly, loved the heat and the pressure used. The 90 minutes felt so good, I didn't know time was going by so fast. I think the stones were used at about the halfway point, before you flip over and they stretch you out. Oh, and they also go on the tables when massaging your back. Once they are done, they leave the room, giving you time to rinse off in the shower and dress before heading out. Clean towels are provided and as soon as you leave, staff members come in and clean the room and change the towels for the next guests. One small issue we had was, when I called, the lady who picked up said the 90 minute deep tissue in the private room was $50/person but when we finished up, they were only able to accept cash because their credit card machine was not functioning. While the s.o was heading out to get cash, he asked how much the total was and the lady said $160 ($80/person). When asked why it was $60 difference, she showed me the pamphlet with the pricing and offered a discount of $70/person because there was a mistake on their end. My BF and I didn't know what to do as they just escorted us into the couple's room and closed the door. We asked one of the masseuse and they said to just take off all clothes except for underwear. We're supposed to cover ourselves with the tiny towel. The room is also supplied with slippers, robes, towels, lotion, gel sanitizer, brush, shampoo, soap, conditioner. The environment was peaceful with music and dim lights. The whole experience was great. Our masseuse were very professional and really knew what they were doing. My husband gets massages frequently so I expected a big critique, but even he was impressed and said how great it was. I found out about this place from a friend who works nearby. The first time I arrived, I requested and was given a tour of the place by Mae, one the the masseuses. She was relaxed and friendly. The cleanliness and attention to detail was flawless. The whole facility was immaculately clean. The temperature was perfect. Everything seems to be well laid out and orderly. The music was relaxing. Yes, I was sold on the environment and the price for the body massage ($60 for one hour) was reasonable; other places with these luxuries may charge over $100 per hour. After the tour, I requested a massage. Mae did a thorough job. My pain points were the mid-back and legs from restarting a running regimen. She accomplished the task of relieving my soreness. After the massage, I took a shower to remove residues of oil from the massage. Body lotion, shampoo and plenty of clean towels are available. When I was ready to leave the room, I noticed a dish of mini Snickers and Milky Way. On another day, I returned and met the owner Amy. She is hospitable and kind. If you are comfortable with a little more exposure than your traditional massage in the US (just 1 towel for coverage, and the therapist straddling you on the table for a bit), you will experience, hands down, THE BEST massage you have ever had!
