Came in for the lunch special. Doenjang Jigae. $11.99 + tax not bad. I came in one other time too. Actual jigae tastes pretty good. The first time I came in, I asked the lady if kimchi was given as a banchan, she said "no, only radish, bean sprouts, and Mac as it's fixed with the lunch special." Then a few moments later, she stopped by my table and gave me a small cup of kimchi. That right there is someone who is here to serve and make the experience just alittle bit better. Awesome job to her. But to the guy today who couldn't give care less, you lost a customer.. over a small cup of kimchi. You care more about saving that small cup of kimchi although on a normal weekend you guys probably throw out pounds and pounds of uneaten kimchi during kbbq. lol good work. You can have your fixed side dishes all you want, but when someone requests something as small as a cup of kimchi you can't honor that or make that small exception? read more

This is authentic Korean bbq style which the server grills the food for the table. Personally, I enjoy the service as the food is cooked properly and less burnt, but some in my party missed cooking the meat themselves. The restaurant has good grills and ventilation, much less smoky and smelly than your typical k bbq restaurants. The preset dinner combos are reasonably priced and generous in portions. Prices might be a bit higher than some of the AYCE places, but the meats are much better in quality here. Honestly, I don't eat enough to justify the AYCE anyway, might as well spend the money on freshness. Side dishes are better than average too, and they offer so many varieties. However I was very disappointed when i tried beef tartare. Beef was frozen, thinly sliced, and salty. Korean beef tartare is known to be flavorful with sesame oil, hint of salt and pepper to enhance fresh taste of raw beef.However, Hodori's beef tartare was just salty and no sesame oil flavor. What's most disappointing is they used frozen beef, and as beef melted, all the seasoning and flavor dripped down the plate and beef just felt like it was defrosted and ready to be cooked. I hope Hodori would consider using better quality beef as raw ingredient can cause digestive trouble. But the asian pear with beef tartare was very good. Overall, all the entrees were good but i would like to see some improvements on beef tartare quality. read more

They also cooked the food not to our liking and rushed through cooking all the meats. No breaks in between. It was awkward and uncomfortable. New KBBQ spot at the Promenade area of the Santa Anita Mall. The 2 of us shared the small beef combo which comes with wagyu galbi, wagyu bulgogi, brisket, and short rib. The combo also comes with salad, a kim chi or soy bean paste stew, and various banchan. Their regular kitchen menu is also extensive with noodles, tofu soup, and various appetizers. We added the omurice, it was a generous portion and delicious. Our favorite from the beef combos were the two wagyu items. The worker does come by and cook the different meat for us, but it's not as attentive as I would say at BaekJeong. We had already started cooking when they came by, then later it was getting a bit burnt so we had to take it out ourselves. I think they will cook for you if they happen to walk by? That part I'm not really sure about, so I would say pay attention to your food and not rely on the workers to cook for you. The food is fantastic! My wife and I stepped in just after shopping at the mall. I didn't know what to expect at first, but the menu looked interesting. I had the beef short rib soup... Galbitang. My wife had the Galbi Dolsot Bibimbap... with short rib meat. Everything was delicious, and there was plenty of it. We plan to come back with our kids for the Korean BBQ. The service was great, and we were entertained by the robot food carriers that assist the waiters. The restaurant was spacious enough to handle big crowds. My family loves this place and kept trying to bring me and after finally joining them today I can see why. We dropped by when they opened on a tuesday afternoon and it was one of the better kbbq experiences i've had. We got the x-large despite only having 3 people because I wanted to try all the meats lol, and planned on taking the rest home if we couldn't finish. All of the meat had nice marbling, and was cut perfectly. Very worth the price you're paying. Service was amazing. Everyone working was super friendly. They cooked our meats for us on the grill and their timing was beautiful to watch. They always showed up at the perfect time to flip all the meats even though they were fairly busy. We were eating slower than the meat was finishing they brought out a little tray to put on the grill to keep the meat hot but not overcook. Came here for the lunch special. While it wasn't particularly busy, the restaurant seemed understaffed, which affected the overall service. Several servers were not attentive at all and spent time chatting in the corner. One of the lead servers was great, but there just weren't enough of him to make up for the lack of attentiveness. The meats were poorly cut, and aside from the brisket, many pieces were too chewy or tough to swallow. I think there's definitely room for improvement in both service and the quality of the meats. read more

The food and meat quality is not bad at all, I would say for $80(2 persons) pretty good! However, their service is sooo bad. They put your mean inside the grill and not coming back for it. When you want to cook by ur self, they keep trying to stop you but keep overcooking your meat. They don't let you know when it's last order even it was 1hr away from their close time. This is my first time here and I had a very positive experience. There wasn't a long wait and the restaurant was very clean. Most importantly, the meat was very fresh!! Our server Ryan was very attentive to us. We were treated like royalty! He cooked the meat for us and we never had to cook anything ourselves. The ventilation was very good as well. i only went here bc my parents insisted? i think they just wanted korean food and failed to tell me that it's a bit lackluster... the galbi seasoning is way too sweet and salty. the meat quality is great! my parents liked that it wasn't unnaturally soft like some other korean bbq places - where the meat tastes suspiciously tender...? i feel like if they change their seasoning/marinade, it would be so much better none of the servers were korean or spoke any - not a big deal - but it just seemed like they didn't really know how to cut and grill. one server kept trying to cut the meat at its rawest (galbi cuts better when it's been grilled a little). the heat for the meat was not so right either and we had to adjust. the server also forgot things we had asked for a couple of times their gaejang (marinated raw crab) was actually pretty good. i may come back for that. and reasonably priced when you go for the lunch prices. the banchans are not so memorable. sorry for the lack of pics. read more

The food was fresh and delicious. They're japchae was well seasoned but the kimchi fried rice wasn't sour enough. The sulungtang was delicious. My 7 yr old enjoyed his first experience. One of my favorite types of soup too. There's a good variety of banchan. You also won't leave with a kbbq smell. The vents are built into the sides of the grill. Genius. They also have robot waiters but they didn't even come to our table! We did see it pass by to the kitchen. Plenty of seating for large parties. Highly recommended. read more

Ive been here a couple of times now and it seems like every time I come back there is always something new. They added mulnaengmyun and bibimnaemyun which is the PERFECT combination with kbbq. Personally, i liked the mulnaengmyun as it comes with refreshing soup. Add to that they have Draft beer now! Got the Kirin draft in a nice looking glass. And to top it off they finally got some ice cream for dessert! I gotta say, this new kbbq place is looking pretty great! Hope they stick around. Also i read some of the reviews about service but i think many ppl are mistaking kbbq to have servers cook your entire meal. This is our second time. We ordered the 149 beef combo for one adult and two teenagers. Luckily, each person has their own bowl of rice. If your party have more than three people, you guys need to share the rice. I still had my ginseng chicken soup and rice . The chicken meat was softer compared to my last experience. I used Yelp to place my wait list. When arrived, the waiter did not look up my yelp placing order. He just followed his own list. So, we started waiting for a table when we arrived. You can left your mobile numbers to him and walked around in the mall. When your table was ready, they called you. The seat planner was polite and gentle. We did not mind wait a few more minutes because the line was not that long. I was a bit confused by its Yelp wait list system. Should we continue use it or not?? The quality of 149 beef combo was still good. There was one kind of steak did not offer in the 79 beef combo. That steak was super soft and melt in your mouth.
