I hadn't seen pasties (meat pies) since leaving northern Michigan many years ago. I'm currently working my way through the entire menu, barbecue, pork, chicken pot pie and Caribbean Jerk chicken so far have not disappointed. These are great for eating in the truck while I'm working, and so much better than fast food or mass produced subs. Price is fair and the staff is always friendly and can be seen working in the kitchen (didn't see a deep fryer or a microwave, just a real kitchen) while you order. Highly recommended. read more

I love the chicken pot pie & the pot roast. The chicken pot pie has fresh vegetables & a delicious gravy that keeps it moist. The pot roast is exactly what it sounds like...pot roast. It's like a pot roast dinner (vegetables & a nice sauce) all put inside a hand made crust. The chicken isn't really made for there sauces (by my opinion, it is wonderful on its own) but the pot roast pie is actually elevated to another level with either sauce. They have a tangy sweet sauce & a spicy sauce. I like to switch between the two with my pot roast pie. Prices are about $7.95 each, I feel a very reasonable price. The portions are good and filling, one is big enough to fill me at lunch. I haven't tried any soups or desserts here, but if they are made the same way as the other stuff I'm sure they are really good. I will be a repeat customer for a long time to come. read more

Stopped in after driving by many times. Place was warm and friendly. Ordered the lamb which wasn't available at 11: 30 so chose the pot roast which my brother in law said was very good. Huge pie and golden brown. Hope to try the lamb when in town. read more

Hurrah! Hurrah! Good to Go Pies has opened a shop on Grover Road in Lynden. We no longer have to wait for the farmer's market in Bellingham or drive up to Everson to get their terrific pies. Hubby's faves are the pot roast or pulled pork; my absolute top choice is the veggie, but the chicken is nearly as good. Haven't tried their soups, but the reviews here sound pretty good. It's a cute little shop with a dining area, so maybe one day we'll actually sit a spell and enjoy our food hot off the grill. In the meantime, we're really happy to have Good to Go Pies in our neck of the woods. Thank you! read more

Pork empanadas are OMG - so good! More popular chicken pot pie is also good. Have tried about 4 kinds, and they are weirdly similar but all really good, generous amount of crust though. If you are lucky enough to get a berry pie dessert - so good! And my favorite is actually the soup - chicken curry thai. I've never had better. You won't be hungry the rest of the day. Even though there was a virtual deluge today, my sweetie and I intrepidly headed up to Everson from Bellingham, having heard really good things about this fledgling establishment. Let me begin by saying that were in no way disappointed. We began our repast with the soup of the day, Thai chicken, which was perfectly spiced, redolent of coconut milk, and was flavorful and zippy, (without encroaching on hot), and delightfully creamy. It was the perfect comfort soup for such a dismal day. Next, we decided to sample the steak pastie. The all butter crusty was remarkably flaky, and wonderfully devoid of the grease that too often accompanies these hand-held pies. The vegetables within were crispy, and full of flavor, and the steak was perfectly cooked. Seasonings were minimal, which allowed the natural juices to bring out the all the piquant flavors, and (a real bonus for us) the salt was also kept to a minimum. Everything was organic, and while this isn't always a guarantee of great flavor, it certainly was evident in this case. Wew were so delighted with our experience that we took home a few other examples, namely, the pork empanada, beef, veggie, and chicken varieties to be kept frozen, and consumed at our leisure. It may be a bit of a drive, but we're definitely looking forward to our next visit(s) in the very near future. read more

We accidentally drove through this town looking for Mt.Baker and the name on the store front caught our eye. We are always looking for out of the way places with good food and this did not disappoint. As we were chatting with the staff the owner came out to say hello because she heard we were from WI and not far from her hometown of Pontiac MI. We asked about their biggest sellers and ended up taking out a vegetable pasty, a chicken pasty and a pot roast pasty. We were buying them for dinner so didn't get the hot ones that were in the warming case, but the already packaged ones in the refrigerated case. We also took a cup of potato soup. The soup was tasty but a little too much spice (tarragon or oregano?) and the potatoes were over cooked but it didn't stop me from eating it. It was still good. The pastys were excellent and the spice perfect. They have a couple of different sauces for the pasty but we preferred ours without the sauce. The crust was the best ever. We reheated them in the oven in the cabin we were renting. They are well worth traveling a little out of the way. read more

Wow these pies are absolutely amazing. I recently had surgery and my husbands work was very generous in giving us the gift of food filled with love. These pies are out of this world. I got several pies to go. It is okay. We found the crust kind of thick and in places doughy. There are savory options for which they are famous (evidently) and I liked. The dessert pies are not really that good. My favorite is probably the chicken curry. May try again and sample some of the other wares. If we like them I will update this review. We had heard about them off on for about a year. Finally, last Saturday we drove up from Bellingham and nibbled at the Chicken Curry Pie. In a few seconds, we were digging into it, ordered another. Happened to also strike up a very pleasant conversation with the owner. We also ended up buying four more to take home. The pork empanada pasty was so good and fresh. Top it off with homemade pecan bar and coffee for dessert for a great lunch.

We finally stopped and tried the Pot Roast pasty! The owners were friendly and explained all the choices. It's apparent that they love what's they do, and it shows in the lovingly handmade food. The crust was flaky and tender, not the hard handle-style from days of yore (you should use a fork!). The filling was generous and so tasty. The pasty sauce was pleasant, but the BBQ sauce was really delicious. Highly recommended stop as you drive through Everson, or make a worthwhile side trip! read more

My husband is always saying that his ideal restaurant would be a welcoming, family-friendly kind of place, with checked tablecloths. Casual, in other words--not the kind of place that might turn a man away for not wearing a tie. Good to Go Meat Pies fills the bill. No checked tablecloths, but when we were there, the scrupulously clean, bare tables were adorned with little antique vases holding tiny marigolds (which reflected the rich, warm colors of the spotless walls). But the best thing about Good to Go Meat Pies is the superb food. Being light eaters, we shared a beef pasty, a cup of Moroccan Peanut Soup, and an apple turnover. The pastry was light and flaky and perfectly browned, the meat filling complex and satisfying (not greasy). The soup was rich and creamy (without, I suspect, any cream--just peanut butter and broth, veggies and spices), with a hint of heat. The apples in the turnover had just the right amount of give and sweetness, and the pastry, once again, was light and tender--heavenly. Even the coffee was good. We came away pleasantly stuffed. And our wallet wasn't much lighter than when we entered. If you're looking for an excuse to drive into the countryside from Bellingham, Good to Go Meat Pies is a worthy destination. When you walk in, turn left to place your order and pay for your food. Then carry your food to the other side of the café to eat it. We happened upon Good to Go while picking up my car from a repair shop nearby. I had the pot roast pasty, my husband got a ginger cookie, as he had already had lunch. I took a bite of his cookie before I ate the pasty. (Life is short, eat dessert first!) It was really good. I dug into the pasty, eating it like a taco. The pastry was really light and flaky. About a third of the way in, I had to put it down and switch to using a knife and fork. Between the light pastry and it being jam packed with meat, it was falling apart in my hands. Really great comfort food. We loved it (I shared a few bites of my pasty with him, being that he shared his cookie) I told the two lovely ladies on the way out that we would make a Saturday afternoon drive down to Everson again just for lunch there,and it would be worth the trip. They kindly suggested that their Lynden store would be closer to the Canadian border. Bless their hearts! read more

This place is the best! I love all of their meat pie options, my personal favorite being the "Jamaican Jerk" it's the perfect level of hot and has great flavor. I also love the local barbecue sauce they sell and provide when you get a meat pie. It's a great local place that provides a quick and delicious meal. I've never tried any of their deserts or soups but everyone I know tells me they are just as fantastic as the meat pies. They also have punch cards like coffee stands buy, 12 meat pies and get the thirteenth free! If you're in the area of one of their stores you have to check it out. read more

This is, as it's name suggests, primarily a take-out place, but you can eat on site, too, if you don't mind the strictly utilitarian ambiance. My mouth is watering just thinking about these pies. Light, flaky, tender crust - and filled to perfection with all sorts of interesting combos - BBQ, Pot Roast, Chicken, Vegetarian - all are great. And they have these homemade ice-cream sandwiches that are to die for! I always ask the friendly and real staff person "What came out of the over most recently?" and get that! One thing I have to warn you about though, and this is no indictment of "Good to Go Meat Pies" but... the town of Everson supplements its municipal budget with a parking and ticket quota system - the main drag is a speed trap - better to crawl down it at 15 mph than to obey the 35 mph speed sign, because they have a trap set up for like 20 feet or so, where the speed limit dips to 25, and that's how they catch so many unsuspecting tourists. They have a kangaroo court set up one day a week where they rake in thousands from the unfortunately trapped. Out of state license plates attract particular attention. It's a real racket. While it's worth a special drive to Good To Go Meat Pies, just beware of the Everson Police Highway Robbery Division. read more
