Homegrown is always my go to when selecting a place to order lunch from when in Seattle. Returning to work and pumping in between appointments I crave meals that I can get a great amount of nutrition from but also able to easily consume while parked or in an office. I greatly appreciate being able to place and purchase my orders ahead of time online bypassing the line (that usually extends out of the door.) Customer service is always pleasant even when they are extremely busy. Another wonderful perk is the parking availability for pick up. Was looking for a quick breakfast while traveling for work. You walk in and there's a kiosk that you order from (and no, the employees will not speak to you but still prompt for a tip at the end). This was my case when I went in. I had a gluten free (GF) need and was trying to inquire with the employees on whether the item I wanted was actually GF or required a substitution. I was met with no response for the first 3 requests for help, and finally a grillman turned around and said "yes, it's GF". So I order it. However, the user interface wasn't intuitive for a new customer at all, and apparently you must go into a separate section titled "add ons" to request the item advertised as GF to be made GF! When receiving my order, I checked with the expeditor to ensure my order was in fact GF. She said "it's not." I was short on time and said, I can't eat this, I need GF as shown on the menu, I'd like my money back. She was very rude and unaccommodating, but said I would get my money back. 2 weeks later, I still hadn't. Luckily, I disputed with the credit card. No apologies nor offers to make it right were made. I wanted to like this place, but between the confusing kiosk, rude and dismissive staff, refusal to make an accommodation, and lies about a refund for the order I left on the counter, I cannot recommend this place to anyone :(. read more

I went to this location today to try out their breakfast. They make everything fresh and offer many options for breakfast then lunch. I ordered the Avocado Cheese Egg Sandwich and it was so delicious. I love that they're vegan friendly for those that eat only vegan or plant based. The sandwich is so warm, fresh eggs, you can taste the yolk, with fresh avocado slices, and melted cheese to perfection. Every bite is so satisfying. Ordered through their website three sandwiches. All gluten free. They were not gluten free. My mom got very ill. We just called and spoke to the manager who said they do not take it seriously unless we ask them to. I guess ordering gluten free and paying the up-charge is not asking them to make something gluten free. I wonder what other health and health codes this location doesn't take seriously? Honestly I love this place. Such easy grab and go type food and I always get the soup and half sandwich combo. Love the pastrami and the soups are usually something I really like. The service is always really nice but you have to be careful you're ordering from the right homegrown location. VEGETARIANS AND VEGANS BEWARE!!! I've been ordering from Homegrown for as long as I can remember and have always been pleased. But I went there yesterday with a friend and we took our bowls to go. Both of us ordered a vegan bowl, and part way through his, my friend found a chunk of steak. That tells me they're either using the same containers to mix the meat bowls as they are to mix the veggie/vegan ones, or the tofu and steak are stored right next to each other, or they use the same tongs or serving utensils to load up both. One of my coworkers was vegetarian and they actually got his order completely wrong (He ordered the Spicy Braised Tofu salad but ended up getting a Sonoran with the grass-fed steak AND the tofu...) Unfortunately, he was unable to eat it and passed it to my other manager and me! Another man's loss is another's gain. I mean, I can't let good food go to waste! Especially being a Yelper, I want to try more than one item when I go somewhere anyways so it gave me a chance to try more! Everyone I encountered, from the woman behind the counter to the guy walking by to refill napkins personally said good morning to me! Ooooh this place is dangerous for my bank account, yall. One of my worksites is near here and it's just too easy to get a quality meal made me quality ingredients (farm to table). First of all, the staff is super chill and friendly. They greeted me immediately when I walked in right at open (7am). But, what really got me, was their self-serve kiosk. My introvert/social anxiety ridden self jumps for joy inside. It was super user friendly. I ordered breakfast and lunch for myself for the day. It came to about $28 with tip. I think I just found my new favorite salad place!!! It's also within walking distance from my work place so it's perfect! I've had the Matcha Avocado Chicken Bowl (without grains and extra avocado) & Farmstead Cobb Bowl (with avocado). Both salad bowls were delicious and fresh. Service is great! The workers try their best to be as efficient as possible. Service around lunch time is more than likely going to be quite a wait. Be sure to order online ahead of time to try and cut time. Also, I prefer to come in slightly after the lunchtime rush (about 1:15ish-2ish). This cuts waiting times significantly! I've heard they have great sandwiches, but I haven't tried any since I'm currently doing a low carb diet. Maybe when I'm done, I would give it a try!! For over $12 for a whole sandwich, I would think it would be bigger in size. I get the ingredients are organic etc, but still....it's a bit pricey. If you want to combo it up with a drink, you are pushing closer to $20 lunch plateau. My mom wouldn't want me to pay that much for a sandwich, so I wont be telling her. Overall, the sandwich was tasty so I may come back once in a while to try some others or check their salads. If you're coming from Fourth Ave., you can go through (or around the patio) of the Wells Fargo building and take the escalators down. I only found out because I had a friend show me. :P Such a cute shop! Very clean and bright, I love their bar seating and giant windows. There seems to be a good mix of people eating at Homegrown and taking their orders to-go. If you do decide to take it to-go, they give you a cute, little paper bag for your order. :) My coworker recommended the Turkey, Bacon & Avocado sandwich, which turned out to be SO freakin' good! The location of this place is at the corner of a busy street in the same building of the Wells Fargo bank. Honestly, without the Yelp outside pictures I would have struggled to find this place as there were multiple escalators blocked off leading to this place. Upon entry no one turned to greet you because staff was too busy prepping the food. There were two iPads for ordering and nowadays with Covid I am seeing this as the normal way to do business. Everything was quick with no lines and the menu was easy to navigate with pictures. It was not long before my Cobb salad and chicken cranberry sandwich was ready. I love how this place really does made to order efficiently. The salad and sandwiches were both warm and neatly packaged. The Cobb salad was packed with a mix of fresh lettuce, chopped up fried egg, chunks of cooked bacon and peppered with cheese and tomatoes..this lunch was definitely healthy and delicious. The sandwich had chicken salad and cranberry sauce piled into a warm ciabatta type of bread...this was a perfect balance not at all soggy. There's just something about the Spicy Braised Tofu Bowl that I love. Maybe it's the overly generous sriracha drizzle that makes my mouth burn but is excellent, or maybe it's the properly cooked tofu that helps me get my protein fix. Or maybe it's because the bowl has a ton of food and can stretch as a lunch+snack. I can't figure out why I like it so much, but the Spicy Braised Tofu Bowl is a lunch go-to for me. I haven't tried anything else on their menu because I love the Tofu Bowl, but I really should at some point. Delicious tofu, fresh vegetables, and a little kick to keep you awake in the afternoon. This location gets super crowded. I usually order online, which is supposed to be faster, but sometimes they are crazily backed up and I've waited almost 15 minutes there after pick-up time. Delicious salad place in downtown Seattle. I've been to this restaurant in Capitol Hill and was pleasantly surprised to find it downtown. I went early around 11am and beat the crowds. The cashier guy was so nice, friendly and helpful when I was trying to use the self service kiosk and decide which salad to get. I normally get the chicken matcha salad that I love but today he talked me into the steak salad. It was delicious and had quite the kick in the dressing. Great food here! I love the smoked pastrami. Great salad and soups also. However, I have watched this company increase its prices over the past year or so to the point where a healthy sandwich is now unaffordable for most people in WA State. Their full, smoked pastrami now costs almost $13 ($12.95). Their full, grass-fed steak sandwich is almost $14 (13.95). A sandwich, coffee, and a cookie will set you back almost $20. Earlier this year they cut the portion sizes, reduced the sandwich size, and increased the costs at the same time. I called them and they justified their cost increase saying the cost of business increased. Maybe it did, but it always does. Does that mean someday they are going to have $100 sandwiches? I write this review not because I don't like them, but rather because I love their food, but can hardly afford it anymore and want people to know what to expect before they come here. I just watched a family of four walk in, look at the prices and walk out. In my humble opinion they are putting profits ahead of affordability and placing healthy food outside the reach of less fortunate people and people who don't make six figures. This is truly in conflict with their attempted image as a healthy, locally sourced business.
