For Chinese new year, I wanted to eat something light after shopping at 99 ranch - so I went to the "cafe" after searching on Yelp. When I got here, I realized they changed their name to "restaurant" and all the food options are more like for family meal. The whole place is very Hong Kong - from everyone speaking Cantonese (families coming in hugely) to the servers coming in with well portioned hot food saying "ni tu" (kind of like "food's here") I also saw interesting recipes like ong choy with shrimp paste and horlick... but the servers said those aren't available that night. This was my first time trying this place. I was pleased with the plaza it was located in, parking was easy. The service immediately is great. Greeted and seated right away, despite a good crowd. Their menu is pretty extensive, and has a good variety of appetizers, mains, etc. for appetizers, we had the fried tofu and fried fish. We also had their shrimp fried rice and rice cakes. I want to start by saying that the food here is actually good. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed our experience. The staff was unaccommodating and not communicative. We came with a baby and politely asked if we could sit at a corner table where it was quieter and less crowded. Our request was denied without much consideration, and we were seated at a table that eventually became surrounded by other guests. Later, we asked if it would be possible to switch tables to a more comfortable spot for our situation, but again, the staff refused and did not offer any alternative or attempt to help. I would give it 3.5 stars, but I won't be coming here frequently though, so I will round down to 3-stars. The prices are high for a Chinese restaurant, which is common for this area, and their food to be okay. When my friends & I came here on a Saturday night, our bill for 4 adults came out to be over $110 after tax & tip. I felt that prices at other Chinese restaurants to be more affordable, & the flavors of the dishes in Chinatown Oakland & SF to be better, including the Hong Kong cafes in the South Bay areas too. As for the size of the restaurant, they were pretty big, so we were seated right away for a Saturday night. The service wasn't that great since we had to wait a while before they took our order, even though the restaurant wasn't full. Also when our tea pot was empty and we had it open to indicate that it needed to be refilled, no server ever came to refill it on their own, so I had to flag a server down to let them know that it was empty. Overall they are a 3+ star restaurant. The parking had a private lot at the plaza, so parking is easy; and the portions of the food were decent sizes. I just wish the service was more attentive, the food was better, and the prices weren't as high. It's nice to have a Hong Kong Cafe in the Dublin area, but you will be paying the higher prices to dine here. read more

We ordered Wonton noodle soup and Beef Curry rice. Wonton noodle soup had great broth. Unfortinately, it went down hill from there. Wontons skin was overcooked to become quite mushy. The stuffing inside had mild flavor without the famous Hong Kong bouncy consistency. Some of the noodle was not fully separated as if it was not cooked enough... Curry Beef was clearly made where the beef was made separately then mixed with Curry source per order. Beef was tender enough but could be better. Staff was generally pleasant. I usually do order ahead, so my order is ready when I get there for pick up, I usually come here for their Club Macaroni. This spot had the best in the area and it reminds me of my childhood, but the last 2 visits, this spot had been a miss. Overall, the macaroni noodles are good, but the soup is way too salty. I have been looking for a Chinese/cantonese/HK style restaurant in the TriValley. I came across this restaurant on Yelp and knew I had to try it out. This is located in a small complex that's shared with Dominos. If you're not familiar with this area, I feel like this can be easily missed. I go to this section of town quite often and I feel like businesses tucked in this corner can easily be missed. When we arrived, we were seated but I felt service is lacking (which is not surprisingly for a Chinese restaurant). We were able to order our dishes but any follow up service was non-existent. If I needed utensil or water, I felt like I had to help myself. As for the food, I do love it has the Hong Kong style dishes. We go the seafood bake spaghetti, the fujian fried rice and clay pot dish. The dishes taste exactly how I would expect and they were enjoyable. As for the portion size, it's okay - it's not particularly small or large either. The chicken was the classic Hainanese chicken with the ginger and scallion sauce on the side. The chicken by itself was a little bit too salty but went well with rice. The meat was tender and juicy. Ginger and scallion sauce was pretty good. This one really hit home for me because my mom makes this all the time. The sweet and sour pork ribs was probably our least favorite even though it was OK. This came stir-fried with pineapples too, which was alright. The flavor was fine but nothing really stood out to us. No wow factor here. My friend enjoyed the stir-fried string beans with minced meat the most. It had the most flavor (good amount from the slight deep frying) and it was crunchy! A very authentic Cantonese style cafe that serves delicious food. The dishes are comparable to the cafes you can find in Oakland, San Leandro and SF. All of them are packed with a lot of flavor and tradition. My favorite was the seafood noodles. It comes with shrimp, baby scallops and squid and fried noodles. That fried noodle texture is tasty and pairs well with the sauce. The curry stew was also delicious. It is very hearty and I would recommend getting a side of rice to cut to help balance out the flavors. It is a bit pricey, so I can't say this is a place I would visit too often. The restaurant brings in a variety of crowds. Some people were set up with their laptops hanging out, and you also see bigger families here too. I don't quite get the crowd this place got on a Sunday evening. Everything between the patrons, menu items, and the name of this restaurant was boding well. However, it stopped short with the inconsistency in flavors of the food, typical poor service, and long wait times to a nearly forgotten dish. We ordered honey walnut shrimp (good), pan-fried seafood noodles (bland), fish clay pot (terrible), and a baked chicken rice dish (tasted more like a western casserole dish). Prices are moderate, and I definitely wouldn't pay more for the quality level served. The interior layout is strange, where there's an unusual wait area that consumes a large portion of the interior front. The restaurant seating is split unusually between the left and right sides of the dining spaces. And the lazy Susan for our small table that seated 5 people consumed most of our table where our plates butted up against the spinning apparatus while slightly hanging off the side of the table. We generally like this place and had a decent experience overall. We visited on a weekday and ordered wonton soup, fried calamari, fish clay pot, rice rolls, and Mongolian beef. The rice rolls and wonton soup were both enjoyable. However, the fried calamari was too chewy, and both the Mongolian beef and fish clay pot were overly salty -- especially the beef. Initially, we weren't going to say anything since we had already eaten about half the plate, but my mom decided to give the server some feedback. She let them know that the beef was too salty, and to their credit, they offered to make a new plate. We appreciated the gesture and accepted. Unfortunately, the replacement dish seemed like an attempt to stretch the ingredients. It came with an overwhelming amount of ginger, which changed the flavor entirely -- it ended up tasting more like ginger beef. While I understand that running a restaurant is challenging and food costs have gone up, this didn't feel like the right way to handle customer feedback. Such a delightful Hong Kong cafe in Dublin! It's in the same plaza as Paris Baguette but all the way in the back corner. Plenty of parking spaces, so no worry about that. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by a very familiar Hong Kong staple, the MTR train stations in its iconic tiles. Most of the staff speak Cantonese and the menus are brilliantly labeled with large pictures of the dishes. We started with their red bean milk drink and it's so refreshing. It was super nostalgic as it reminded me of Hong Kong. We love the tomato baked pork chops so we knew we had to order that. The yin yang fried rice was amazing and packed with flavor. The hot and sour soup was a little different, it had a tint of red that I couldn't put my finger on why. Otherwise it was tasty. Lastly, the beef chow fun had a lot of wok hay, delish! Decor is cute with a wall full of colorful tiles with the familiar Hong Kong MTR station names. There are also several TV's on the wall with sports playing. We ordered two very standard cafe dishes: dry style beef chow fun 干炒牛河 and Singapore style rice noodle 星洲炒米. The beef chow fun was excellent with a generous amount of tender beef and good wok flavor 鑊氣. The Singapore style rice noodle was good but not as good as the beef chow fun. It would have been better if the shrimps were bigger and better quality. Service was decent and staff were courteous. We stayed a bit longer to finish watching a Warriors game and we were not rushed.
