Was craving for some quick Chinese foods therefore stopped by here. I had been here once or twice long long time ago. It was busy packed then and the wait was 10-15mins to get the foods. Parking is great since it located in big plaza with big parking lot. Clean, well organized and spacious inside. It's the same decor and setting as I remembered it. Just old, definitely in need of an upgrade. Plenty of choices as like any fast Chinese foods places. Service is nice & friendly. Prices decent, but if you are paying with card, it will add additional 4% on it for service fee so cash would be better. I got 3 items combo so with tax and 15% tip came up to $20. Foods wise, it's good, not bad nor great. It just cured by craving for sure.

I live nearby this area so I finally gave this unassuming neighborhood Chinese takeout spot a try. It is a family-run business in a slightly rundown strip mall off Magnolia. You can get a 1-item combo for around $11 which comes with fried rice or chow mein (you can do half and half) and an entree. The 2-item combo is around $13 and 3-item combo is around $14. They also have soups, specialty dishes, etc. Overall good selection! Service was friendly as I believe the daughter is one of the main servers. I got the 1-item combo and the serving size was very generous. No doubt more food than Panda Express for about the same price. Flavor was good -- nothing amazing (it is Chinese takeout after all) -- but it hit the spot. FYI I'm pretty sure they use MSG as my mouth was quite dry after eating but that's pretty typical for places like this. Hong Kong Express is a common name for Chinese takeout spots, so if you look up the name you will see there are a handful in the area. I am not sure if any of them are connected; however, the location that went viral on social media in Westminister has the same menu style as this location, so perhaps they are related? They take credit card.

I love the food here !. It's LITERALLY the BEST Chinese food in the area! It's always fresh made. It is family owned. My man said its scrum-deli-umcious!

    Not worth my $ tbh

I didn't like the food. However I talked to the servers and they were nice and understanding. I didn't mean to put them on blast about the food, but I love Chinese food. I was expecting a little bit too much tbh. They told me that the steamed rice was hard due to it being the one they normally use for the fried rice. The portion size of the teriyaki was mainly the problem. The ambiance is friendly and welcoming, but if you need a quick meal this is the one to go to.

Tried out this place for the first time. I was disappointed, the chicken was not the amount I expected. I also did not like the fee that is charged at the end for using ones debit card. I talked to customer service they were understanding. Ambiance is desolate and a lot of homeless people around that area.

Shout out to whoever keeps the kitchen going in the evening. I stopped by a little late and thought for sure it'd be slim pickings for my dinner. To my surprise, there were plenty of newly cooked entrees to choose from. I went with the 2 item combo priced at $11.99. I chose mushroom chicken and orange chicken as my items with a split of chow mien and fried rice for my carbs. My little styrofoam box was generously heaped with food so much so that it lasted me for two meals - really good bang for your buck. This was probably some the best Chinese take out I've had. The mushroom chicken had a good veggies to chicken ratio because sometimes you get nothing but mushrooms. I also liked that the orange chicken was less sweet and a little more tart than usual. It was a nice change up to your usual orangey chicken. Good flavors all around. Highly recommend if you have a hankering for Chinese take out.

Hong Kong Express is a great place to get Chinese food. I ordered the 2 item combo and got Orange Chicken and Jalapeño chicken. They were good and the portion size was huge. We made the mistake of ordering two 2 item combos and ended up with way too much. If you are ever in Santa Ana check out Hong Kong Express!

This was my second time coming here with my boyfriend. Today, we got 2 item combo mine had Orange Chicken, Chow Mein, Honey Shrimp. The orange chicken was delicious, great flavor, smooth texture, and easy to chew. I would give it a 5/5 since it's pack with lots of flavor. The chow mein was delicious, but it's a little oily since I'm not used to eating that much oil. I would give it a 4/5 since chow mein was decent but needs a kick for me. The honey shrimp was delicious, great flavor, and easy to bite. I would give it a 5/5 since this and orange chicken are my favorite. My boyfriend got fried rice, chow mein, Spicy Chicken Wings, Honey Shrimp. He would give it a 5/5 since it was very flavorful and delicious. The service was fast & employee is very nice and friendly. There is plenty of parking. The store has a great atmosphere, spacious, and clean. I would definitely come back here if I'm craving for Chinese food!

I didn't know they were popular on social media, as I just did a yelp search for jalapeño chicken and saw how massive the quantity of food that they give you is. It was so much food, I almost wanted to tell them they could take some out. Kung pao chicken and the jalapeño chicken have been my two regular items, but I may change it up to test the others and see how those taste too.

Some reviewers write about a rude attitude from employees and a belief that people who speak the Korean language are treated better than those who don't. I've seen people who only speak English and are courteous being treated warmly. Furthermore, the employees here don't miss a beat. The timing of when the entrees arrive to the table after ordering has been consistent over the years. Turns out, it wasn't nearly as crowded as before - though spoiler: the price has increased a lot (I want to say it was $25/lb 10 years ago, and now is $37/lb). Keep in mind too, you can't get a small amount like 1lb - usually it's gonna be 3+lb so your bill is easily going to hit mid-$100 to $200s from the lobster alone. That being said, many people swear this is the best, and that's why they can charge whatever they want. I'm actually allergic to lobster (lol) but am a team player so I just sampled it for the funsies, and had to get another dish to actually eat (went with the beef lok luk). My family said the lobster noodle was good, but not like, fantastic (which we were expecting not fantastic but yeah, mostly came here to a family meeting.) The beef lok luk was also pretty good like, 4.3 of 5 - we just had another version at Paradise which was astounding (like 4.6) though also more expensive and pretty far away. Overall, not sure if we'll come back again as we're more curious about the copycats that have popped up which might be 80% as good and much more affordable. Stay tuned! :)

This helped us get a table much faster than we would have than if we had just shown up and waited. We ordered the large family meal, and there were 12 of us. We also ordered the Newport Lobster, fish fillet with black bean sauce, and an extra shrimp fried rice. Overall, I think the food was good, and the prices are reasonable (except the lobster, which was pricey, as you might expect from anything listed as "market price"). Most of us in the group thought the fish fillet with black bean sauce was the best. I thought it was very good, but not necessarily fantastic. (There are other Chinese restaurants that do it a little better.) The sauce was very good, but the fish wasn't quite as tender as it can be. Definitely a solid 4 stars. Other dishes were good. I think the scallop soup could have been great for some people, but my wife and I both hate cilantro, and there was a ton of cilantro. The pork was also good, and my friends thought the clams were also really good. I found the fried rice a bit bland. And for both the lobster and the crab, they could have made them a little easier to eat by cracking the shells a bit more for us. I hate fighting with my food ... And there was a fair amount of fighting on these 2 dishes. The lobster cost almost much as all the other dishes combined. It certainly looked amazing. And the sauce was very good. But I found most of it a bit overcooked. Maybe it was our fault for asking for a big one. Maybe a smaller lobster might have been cooked a little less. The great sauce (along with the fighting with the shell) might have covered up the fact that the meat was actually a bit tough and rubbery. I don't think I'd order this again. The service was very friendly and pretty fast. And, again, other than the lobster, the pieces were pretty reasonable.

Capital Seafood Restaurant opened at 11am; the wait was well worth it. All three of us loved it. There is a decent size dedicated parking lot just for the standalone restaurant, so was able to find easy parking. We were greeted immediately and directed to a circular booth, giving the three of us plenty of space. The inside space looked recently renovated, with a dedicated banquet room, and two dining hall wings. Hot complementary hot tea was brought for all, and ice water later when I specifically asked for it. Service was excellent throughout. The menu is a book, with the first two pages dedicated to a large lunch menu. Here it doesn't come with any additions (i.e. no soup or egg roll), but white rice is included and served family style. What it does have is a large selection (a whopping 53 different items), including some items I've never seen on a lunch before, all for $13.50. The menu is displayed on the first page (27 items) of the menu book, with the standard vegetarian, chicken, beef, or pork dishes. But by turning the page, one gets to another 26, this time mostly seafood. Many of the items caught by eye. L36 -Ship with Garlic Sauce - it came with big jumbo headless/shell-off shrimp, using a dark pungent sauce that I really liked. Vegetables were green and red peppers, red onions, and a lot of wood ear mushrooms (which I really like). It's a dish I would recommend, especially at this price point. L53 - Pan Fried Whole Fish - didn't really expect much from this, but asked the waitress what type of fish (was expecting tilapia or sway). When she answered 'flounder', I had to try it....and it was much, much better than I expected for the lunch price. It was a WHOLE expertly prepared flounder, with a crisp batter that I enjoyed, and a sweet delicate meat. It came with 2 sauces (soy based, sweet/sour), more for the batter. It was served immediately after it had been prepared. I really loved it, and felt it was a bargain for the price. 90- House Chow Mein HK style ($17) - a disk of deep fried chow mein, topped with a mixture of greens and different meats (including shrimp), in a lighter sauce. It was served immediately after preparation, which allowed us to choose if we want to eat the noodles while still crispy, or let the sauce soak in. Portions are not huge (even for the normal menu item like the pan fried noodles), but very appropriate for the prices. The three of us were able to finish our meal, with no need for take home containers. Soda is only provided from cans ($2.75 each) and I got a bottle of Tsingtao for $5. The check was brought to the table, with a 3% service charge for use of credit card. I enjoy doing a little research about the history of a restaurant like this. On a preliminary scan, there are multiple restaurants with the name of Capital Seafood in the LA/OC area: This location (with the original name of Capital Seafood, having domain of capitalseafoodgg.com) was founded in 1996 by immigrants from Cambodia, and recently was taken over by the original owner's son. There is a different restaurant (also named Capital Seafood, under the Capital Seafood Group in Irvine) running 3 Capital Noodle Bars in Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Brea, along with a Capital Seafood Restaurant in Irvine. This group seems to be related to Kim Tar (a SGV restaurant founded in 1982 in Monterey Park), signifying that they are using those original recipes in their restaurant. This location doesn't seem to be operated by that group, instead run as a separate restaurant. There is also a New Capital Seafood Restaurant in Rowland Heights, which doesn't seem to be operationally related to either one, though most likely branching off at some point. The only thing common seems to be the 'Capital' name (and the assumption that the owners/operators are probably related).

Wanted fresh live lobster and this place had the best price per lb. To give you an idea, Kings Fish…read moreHouse was $67/lb, the other Capital Seafood at Irvine Spectrum was $45/lb, and this place was like $28.99/lb. So we made the drive to Garden Grove. What stood out to me over the Capital Seafood in Irvine was the much friendlier service and the 90s R&B music in the background which was cool. Got the Lobster with house special sauce, Roasted duck with steam buns ($50), and Sautéed Pea sprouts veggies. * The lobster was definitely the star but just know the sauce is very buttery so may try a lighter sauce next time. Also still needed to crack some pieces so hands got really dirty (4/5) . * The duck was unfortunately too dry and tough and skin not so crispy so I will prob skip next time. But portion was good. (3/5) * The peasprout veggies were good and had a nice crunch but needed a little more salt. (4/5) Hot Tea was smooth, seating comfy. Only thing it was freezing cold and they should prob drop the AC a few degrees. The white girl server was super nice and always checked on us. Overall good experience and will be back.
