This place is located near Garden Grove Boulevard and Beach, right to the side of the new Walmart. Parking is fairly easy! Whenever we come in, there are always these nice ladies serving us food. We usually get the food à la carte so we can take home to eat with our own rice. I'd recommend getting their broccoli beef, mushroom chicken, or their spicy chicken. We also usually get their chow mein. Their orange chicken, does not taste like typical orange chicken; you can actually taste the citrus notes in the chicken, which is very unique. I've been becoming here since about 2004 when I move back from Vegas. This place is a small Mom & Pop business that still has pretty reasonable price combos & food for a reasonable price. I would always see Chinese combo places on IG reels where they filled the takeout container so full that they could not close them, so I wanted to find a place like that. Fortunately, Hong Kong Express is near my work and they really do fill those containers to the brim. I've been here a few times since my first visit, and every time my plate is heavy, full, and sometimes it won't close, so it's a great value for money. They charge extra for using cards, so bring cash if you want to avoid. I've tried a few different dishes, but the entree that I've landed on as my favorite is the spicy chicken. Delicious fried pieces of chicken that kind have that salt & pepper flavor, stir fried with onions and jalapenos. They are just golden nuggets of goodness. Even times when I bring my own lunch, if I'm nearby during my lunch break, I will sometimes, just get a side order of the crispy chicken. It is so tasty, especially when it's fresh. Their teriyaki chicken is decent, but pretty much the same as other places, and I feel like they give you a smaller portion of this entree than others when you get this as one of your choices. I also really like their chow mein, but I would avoid the vegetables, as they were soggy and had a strange flavor to me. (I was stupidly trying to be "healthy" but it was not worth it.) I've recently been eating at this hong Kong express in weekly bases, at one point I was eating here 4 days in a row. I absolutely feel in love the bbq pork char siu. The bbq pork here is probably the best bbq pork I've had. They told me they recently changed how they cook the bbq pork, no longer do they deep fried the bbq pork, which caused it to be dry at times. The bbq pork flavor is good and juicy, I love how they pour the bbq pork sauce into the small container when I order a side of bbq pork by it. Ok enough about the bbq pork, the orange chicken is good, house special chicken is good, chow mien and fried good. Portion size is big for 2 item combo, good for 2 people or eating it twice for sure. Huge portions. This is what all Hong Kong Express locations are known for. They pile everything up and have to use tape sometimes to close it. I will say that the orange chicken has a little too much batter. The batter to chicken ratio is a little off. I sometimes stay clear from it for that exact reason, but it's actually good. I just feel so guilty eating that much batter. I will say that majority of the dishes are good and well worth what you pay. This place has various Chinese foods from mushroom chicken to teriyaki chicken and I think my favorite from them, spicy chicken. This time around I ordered the bbq pork and the spicy chicken again. With a drink the two item combo comes to around $15. Not a bad price since this place does stuff the box pretty well! There are a couple tables around here and people come and go but it's pretty quiet all around. Why I think the spicy chicken is their best item is because it's like their own take on chicken karaage. Very crunch pieces which I absolutely love. As for the bbq pork, it's okay! It can be a bit hard to chew on some pieces so just be wary that some of their food can come over cooked. I still think there's plenty of places that are way better than here but overall I'm pretty satisfied with whatever I order from here. What I do suggest is if it's your first time definitely get the spicy chicken! It's probably their best item here. Other than that the place is good to average! This is place holds a special spot in my heart. First, the portions are HUGE! They scooped so much food for me that the box barely closed. This place definitely gives you the best bang for the buck. I ordered half noodles and half fried rice, which wasn't the most flavorful part of the meal but it satisfied my hunger for Chinese Food. The orange chicken was a bit on the "bready" side but the sauce was very tasty. Unfortunately, the Tustin location does not open on Sunday so we decided to order a tray of orange chicken at this location thinking "Hey, they're just a different franchise so how large of a difference could it possibly be?" Big mistake. Food: I was genuinely disappointed at the quality of the orange chicken because the skin was soggy and the flavor was bland. On top of that, the coloration is more dark yellow rather than orange itself. Cost: The price is absolutely higher than that of Tustin! They offer a small and large option being $36 and $48 respectively. I was pissed since the Tustin location offered only the large option at the cost of the small one compared to Stanton! I can't believe I paid more for less food with lower quality. Unbelievable. Service: The people were great. However, they also charge a 4% transaction fee should you pay with card.
