We come to Hook, Line & Sinker every year for my husband's birthday--it's become a tradition for us. Our last visit was back in May while we were already in the area, and everything was just as we remembered. When we came in again tonight, though, we noticed a small but great change. We were asked if we wanted salt, pepper, and garlic seasoning on our order--and of course we said yes! In the past, we'd never been asked and the food typically came unseasoned (I usually have to salt everything and load up on tartar sauce). That one question made such a difference. The shrimp, fries, and hush puppies were absolutely amazing this time around. The online menu does mention "seasoning upon request," but I imagine a lot of people don't check the website, so being asked directly was a really nice touch. We usually order the 18-count jumbo shrimp, which comes with fries, hush puppies, plus ketchup and tartar sauce--and it never disappoints. There's a patio out front with a heated section, as well as indoor seating, which makes it a great spot year-round. The boat decor is also a nice touch. We'll definitely keep our yearly tradition going and appreciate the little improvements that make an already solid place even better!!

HLS has been around for decades!! It is a decent spot to grab a quick bite of seafood. The entrees are cooked to order. Surprisingly, the Cole slaw is my favorite item!! The food is not highly seasoned, even when you ask for seasoning. That's fine as long as your expectations are set. Each table comes with a set up of hot sauces, horseradish and condiments to suit your own taste. I've tried the gumbo and red beans and rice in the past. They are not very flavorful. I really enjoy the po boys! The staff is friendly every time I visit.

We haven't visited in a while because the last time we were here termites had invaded and were crawling and flying everywhere. We decided to come back today and things have seriously gotten worse. There were no termites, but the quality of the food has gone down. I ordered a combo consisting of 4 shrimp and one catfish fillet. What I received with my shrimp was an overcooked half of a fillet. We've decided this was definitely our last time here.

Walking in, listening to that 'ole Cajun/ Soul music automatically makes you smile. There was a waiting line however moved quickly. Cashier friendly, knowledgeable and answered questions about the menu items. TV's here so you can watch the latest sports events. Jorge, new employee as of 3 weeks, was busy clearing tables, greeting customers, making sure everyone was okay. Jorge came back several times throughout the meal. Young, fast, happy. First basket was a whole, crispy seasoned catfish, fried okra, with a couple of hushpuppies. Delicious. Second basket, fried Seafood combo included shrimp, oysters, catfish filets, French fries, with hushpuppies. Can't go wrong with this combo. Had the opportunity to meet one of the managers, Sandy. Sandy was so polite, gracious, and wanted to make sure all was good. We talked about the dinner selections and Hook Line Sinker desserts. It's no wonder things run so smoothly here. Dine in or to-go... stop by; you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I went here for an early dinner and we both really enjoyed it. Although I feel like the catfish could be seasoned a bit more, it was so good once I added the tartar sauce and hot sauce to my PoBoy. We both enjoyed that the ambience was very on theme and takes you out of the city for a little while. The staff was so friendly, which always makes the experience more enjoyable. :) We're both excited to go back!

LOVE this place! The fry batter they use is delicious and super crispy! The plates are huge! There's lots of fishing decorations all over the place, completely transforming the vibes from Dallas to small fishing town. You order your food at the counter and then choose a table. Outdoor and indoor seating available.

My experience dining here was fantastic! We actually had plans to go elsewhere and on the way to that place, this little restaurant caught my eye, and so we ended up eating here. We all got catfish poboys and a side of gumbo. The service was quick and order-at-the-counter style. Inside the establishment, there is a lot of fishing decor (I mean, are we surprised?) and it's pretty clean and tidy. Food-wise, the catfish was crunchy and fried to perfection and the jambalaya was quite addictive. We loaded up our poboys with grated horseradish and some hot sauce and just absolutely demolished it. Like seriously, this ended up being one of our favourite restaurants from the entirety of our stay in Dallas! From the way the reviews read, it seems that the quality isn't THAT consistent, but we are so thankful we caught the good side of it, because when it's good, it's GOOOOOD.

Being new to the neighborhood, my partner and I decided to stop by for lunch on Saturday. The looks small on the outside but there's a good amount of seating inside. There's also a small deck area and a few tables out front . Since the weather was amazing, we decided to sit on the patio. You order first, grab a table and they'll call you when your order is ready. I wanted chargrilled oysters but was advised they are only sold M-F. So we decided on the 2 piece filet basket, 6 piece wings, 4 shrimp and filet basket and a half bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. I will say that the food was fresh and fried well. I also like the fact that you can add seasoning which is a blend of salt, pepper and garlic. The signature sauce on the wings was very tasty. However, I was a bit disappointed in the fish fillets as they didn't taste like catfish at all; more like tilapia or some other white fish. The prices are very reasonable and they have some great specials. I'll at least probably go back to try the chargrilled oysters. All in all, it's not a bad neighborhood spot if you need a seafood fix.

The food is delish and the service and attention is fantastic! Thank you Cecilia for the great service.

The food and the service are fantastic! Thank you Cecilia for the food suggestion and the staff hospitality and friendly service.

Love coming to Hook Line & Sinker! The food is always fresh and delicious but most importantly, fast! Service is top notch and friendly. Wish more servers in Uptown were that nice! We typically share an appetizer, such as ceviche or Mexican seafood cocktail (not too spicy but has a kick!), then share a catfish basket. The fish is always served hot and fresh. This last time I took advantage of their happy hour specials and got an order of chargrilled oysters...yummy! Can't wait to order them again!

I made a reservation and placed in the notes the occasion. The preparation and attention to detail was so appreciated. The food was good. In total transparency, the King crab was a bit over cooked. I believe this could be a one off situation because I have had crab here before that was perfect. Although I did not make a huge issue of it the brief mention of it I made to Dawn, my impeccable server, caused her to relay the dissatisfaction. Once the Manager, Deshon Ford, was made aware he truly went through great lengths to make sure I felt appreciated and the concern was addressed. Maggie was also a warm welcome and a delight to encounter. This is what was ordered: King crab: 7/10 the precut of the shell is very helpful. It did not have the natural sweetness I normally experience. The squeeze of lemon does wake up the flavor a little bit but the cook process did not afford the tender luxury as expected. The lemon butter sauce is good but could be great if using clarified butter with minced garlic and a hint of seasoning was considered. Crab fried rice: 7/10 the presentation and the way it was assembled is great. I also like the ingredients. I could not tell if there was crab throughout. I did see the pieces of shredded crab sprinkled on top. This would be a 10 if it was seasoned a bit more to wake up the palette and there was visible lump crab mixed in throughout along with brown butter. Meatball appetizer: 10/10 I could tell the quality of the meat is high. The ingredients and seasoning is on point. They were perfectly cooked. Still tender in the inside and a crisp on the outside. The sauce on top brought the flavor to a well rounded party in your mouth. Natural chicken: 12/10 I tried a few bites of this meal since it was not what I ordered and it was the best meal of all. The chicken was so tender, delectable and excellently cooked. The potato mixture and the capers are well paired and oh sooooo goood. Bread roll with fresh Parmesan:10/10 So fresh, fluffy, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The light and fluffy Parmesan sprinkled all over the top elevates the bread to the clouds. The fresh whipped butter is also a great element of flavor with every bite. Mediterranean salad: 8/10 I was thinking this sals did not come with lettuce. The crab, olives, feta, cherry tomatoes, and calamari are a great pairing. The calamari was a bit chewy. All of the other ingredients are good. I think the dressing could use more depth in flavor to help incorporate such good ingredients. Whalla: 10/10 this drink was so lovely and well balanced. A thoughtful mix of ingredients.Loved the smokey presentation.

The only thing that was brought to our table was dry bread and cold/hard butter. Our waitress name was Kristine and honestly she was the worst i've ever had! The oaklawn location is THE WORST location i've ever been too and I've been to all of the Atlanta locations, the Alabama location and all of the Dallas, Texas locations and I have NEVER had a bad experience. Meanwhile the waiter didn't bring my drink when she brought everyone else's then when I mentioned it she told me I never ordered one! The issue here was the entire right side of the table heard me order my drink and also state that I would be taking care of my sisters drink. We asked for the manager 10 times and someone by the name of Andrea showed up maybe 2 or 3 times out of the 10 with NO SOLUTIONS. The majority of our party ordered from the restaurant week menu so the orders were simple but incomplete and dissatisfying! My shrimp gumbo came out after 1 hour and 40 minutes COLD! Everyone else's came out decent, the waiter Kristine acted as if she ain't understand the issue! I stated that I didn't want any more gumbo after she said she can bring out another. I wasn't offered anything else although on the restaurant weeks menu there were 2 other options. Next, 45 more minutes went by and the waiter came out stating that the dirty rice that came with the majority of our 2nd courses was sold out. Next we all questioning what our options are. 20 more minutes go by and the supposed manager Andrea states that they are sold out of the 3rd course (cheesecake) that the entire table ordered. needless to say for the 2nd course the waiter stated that we could get crab rice instead of dirty rice. Most of us agreed and it came out DRY AF and nasty bug at this point we don't even care we gave up. All of the table received theirs but the birthday girl never got her rice so we asked questions of course the waiter is clueless and the rice later comes out separate from her meal! After that remember they said the dessert of our choice is no more so they bring the bill. We ask if we can get our cake for birthday girl and some guy comes and slams it on the table as if he has any reason to be irritated after what we've been through! The bill was complete bullshit! At that point we don't want our food, we've had a terrible experience but there really wasn't any accountability for anything! We were met with blaming of being short staffed and the kitchen! NEXT, I state that I wont be paying my bill until I speak with the manager and our waiter inappropriately asks me my age! Why that mattered and why she asked me that is still unclear but I tell her my age has nothing to do with my asks of her! Next she explained the check saying that I received over $25 in discounts and after my calculations that was a lie! I went ahead and paid the bill out of frustration although I should've left the shit on the table and walked out! The waiter watches me pay and skip the tip and then INAPPROPRIATELY STATES that I skipped the TIP! I proceeded to tell her that she DIDN'T DESERVE a tip! Her attitude continues and I don't care nor do I say anything else. I approached the manager Andrea to ask one more time if she was really the manager and her, the waiter and some other lady were smirking! THIS experience was Unnecessary , Unacceptable, and Unprofessional and I will not stand for it! I want a refund as this food was thrown in the trash! All of your staff at every location should be on one accord and i'm just not going to accept how we were treated at this location! You all literally ruined a birthday and that's sad!

The food was great, but the service and organization need serious improvement.
