I have passed this place 100 times and always have wondered how it was. Well unfortunately it was not what I expected. I was so excited to eat crawfish for the first time this year and didn't know what to expect but it was extremely overcooked to where it was gross. Stopped by this place because velvet tacos was having a gas leak.. So I ordered the pound of boiled shrimp.... it was very dry to say the least. I had to add the Cajun season that comes on it for more flavor and still didn't help. The butter I asked for helped a little after adding the seasoning there but still not much help. This is the last time I will support this business. I did another online order and requested lightly blackened. When my other half brought it home it was completely red. I had to drive back up to the restaurant and explained to the lady that that was not lightly blackened. She said regardless, the blackened would be spicy. Okay then make it with just salt and pepper. My issues it that as I am waiting for them to remake it I can clearly see the employees are talking about me and my order. Regardless how you feel, anyone one that is customer facing should not talk about the customer. If you want to do that, do it behind closed doors. I was recently in town for work and went here for dinner. The atmosphere is so neat with a bunch of fishing decor. There is a cool patio area that had heaters too since it was cold outside. I had the side salad with the house dressing. The dressing was some kind of creamy lemon vinegar which was good. For my entree I had the shrimp skewers. There were peppers, onions, and tomatoes on the skewers as well. The grilled flavor was FANTASTIC and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. I haven't had fried oysters before so can't comment on them, but the shrimp were smaller than I was expecting for "jumbo" and tasted like bad breading and nothing else. My girlfriend and I were craving some simple Oysters and fried catfish. We're from Chicago and oysters are great but you can't really find good fried seafood. I don't think I've EVER had worse seafood in my entire life, and that includes airports. They make Long John Silvers look like a Michelin star restaurant. We got a mix of things: Gumbo: ZERO taste, full of broccoli and tiny baby shrimp that were hard as rocks Mexican Cocktail: overcooked tiny shrimp in a tomato juice with cilantro. Garbage. Oysters: she ate one and I had to stop after two, I ended up getting sharp stomach pains and I'm positive it was from these oysters. Fried shrimp and Catfish filet: the shrimp was the only thing with flavor. The catfish wasn't bad but I don't think it was seasoned whatsoever before being breaded. Staff is clueless, when I asked about the Mexican cocktail they just said "it's like....a glass w shrimp and sauce" oh ok thanks, fantastic explanation. I got the fried catfish filet it was fried well but it wasnt well seasoned. The good: price, French fries, red beans, key lime pie (probably the best ive ever had) The bad: i love cole slaw but the cole slaw here was not good at all and I would absolutely not recommend it. Its very sweet and my tongue was shocked by the overall flavor. The hush puppies are like fish sticks(in shape) so i think it kinda takes away from the overall flavor but werent bad.
