Do you really need another person telling you how amazing HCT is? It's amazing. It's got the perfect amounts of juiciness, crispness, and meatiness. The warm level is a nice kick of spice without being overpowering. The drumsticks are my favorite. My favorite part - their house made ranch. Perfect consistency and brightness. I really love this restaurant. Where should i start?? The food. The chicken has a great Nashville taste and heat. The mac n cheese is excellent! I'm not a big fan of cole slaw so i skipped that part. Besides having great food, the service is A-1. Great customer service will take this restaurant very far. One of the employees took time out to talk with myself and my gf about the restaurant's origins and mission. He even gave us a free taste of the "Hot" chicken since we both had ordered "Warm." I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing this chicken was having lived in Georgia for four years. They have free sweet tea and an enormous ranch pump. As if the food wasn't enough, the customer service was some of the best I have ever experienced. The employees were interested to know where we were from, genuinely pleased to know we enjoyed the food, and went out of the way to take our trash. My trip here must have been a fluke. After seeing all the rave reviews I decided to try it. My chicken was so, so dry. The mac and cheese was dryed up and flavorless, if you look at the pics people posted you can see the inconsistency in the mac and cheese. Some are super creamy and some are dry looking. This place is always packed. We opted to go to the one in Cliftonville versus the North Market as the line is always so long at the latter. The chicken was delicious, although a bit spicy for my tastes. Pickles were good and cole slaw was homemade and also very good. Welp my fellow HCT fans I freaking finally made it here before the chicken ran out omg I'm so psyched. Yup we stood in the long Sunday line hoping they wouldn't run out of chicken lol as we watched the board go down. They didn't have the bone in bread of chicken as we would've had to wait ten to fifteen minutes for that so we both opted to get the boneless chicken breast. My hubby ordered the warm and me in my Not so spicy self got cold. We got the boneless chicken dinners that included the cole slaw and macaroni and cheese and two slices of bread and three garlic dill pickle slices and the boneless breast of chicken. I ordered my chicken as cold and my hubby got the warm. When they called out our name we got two boneless that was warm I was being brave so I dived into my warm chicken and after the first bite I'm thinking not so bad after second bite and hit my throat and taste buds yup I can't do this I'm a light weight so I tell them hey yeah I ordered cold but got warm. They responded amazingly fast. Yes I can handle cold lol loved it! The mac and cheese was creamy and tasty loved it. The cole slaw was like my Mom makes with apple cider vinegar no over creaminess and it was spot on. My hubby and I discussed the two slices of bread and opted to think it was if you wanted to make it a sandwich? Yes! This place was phenomenal. I loved everything from the set up and ordering process, to the free refills and unlimited house ranch! The chicken was delightfully spicy, the sweet tea was the perfect amount of "sweet", and the Mac and Cheese was perfect. It took my friend and I a minute to find this location as it is located upstairs of the farmers marker. We will definitely be back next time we are in OH. read more

To preface this, I will say that I believe HCT is the best chicken in the city, but that might also be why they only get three stars from me. They are good, very good, extremely good at what they do, but it's also just chicken. Their sides are good enough, but nothing amazing, and their bread is also in the same boat. The only place where they set themselves apart is in their sauce. I am originally from the Buffalo area, and I have grown up with hundreds of different chicken sauces, so there aren't very many that stick out. HCT's sauce does leave a lasting mark. There are better pieces of chicken, better sides, and better breads throughout the Columbus area, but there aren't many (if any) other places that beat their hot sauce. I wanted to give it a 3 for their kind of unoriginality, but let's be honest... the entire reason they are called "Hot Chicken Takeover" is because of their tasty hot sauce which they've nailed in spades.
