It was a party of 6 it took our waiter 30min to arrive and greet us not to mention our table was the only table outside. We ordered and our food took another 30min to arrive! The stake was absolutely disgusting not good at all! Yet again we were all done and ready to go. We were forgotten! We sat for 45min before heading towards the front desk to pay for our dinner. Pros: the atmosphere Cons: everything else The service we had was HORRIBLE. We had to wait 25min to receive our half cooked food(which is part of their gimmick but why did it take 25 min!!) We also didnt even recieve bread until we were almost done eating our main course and I didn't even know we were supposed to get bread. My friend ordered a drink and didnt recieve it until he was almost finished his food and asked multiple times were it was and the server opted saying it was coming. The place was empty and they made us wait 15 minutes just to be seated. The food comes half cooked which it is supposed to, but it took them 30+ minutes to get us the food. The service was super slow, we had to ask for water multiple times before getting it. We also didn't get our bread until after we started eating. We came here for our anniversary this past weekend and were not disappointed! We had a reservation and were promptly seated upon arrival - we had a bit of a wait before our table was approached for drink orders (the only reason I gave a 4-star and not 5-star rating.) Our server was Xavier and he was fantastic - 5 star service. We thourghly enjoyed the food, drinks, and dessert. Overall great experience. Great food for the price. Very unique way to eat dinner on a Hot Lava rock. Every bite is just the way you like it. It have a nice Polynesian theme inside. We visited Hot Rocks one of the first weekends of summer break and had a lovely experience. It was really fun for us and our 10 year old to cook our own meats plus it was absolutely delicious. The drinks were really good and reasonably priced, the cups are adorable so of course we bought a couple. One of our drinks was wrong and they gave us a whole extra one despite the fact that we drank it anyway. Our server was a total sweetheart and attentive even though it was extremely busy. We really enjoyed the whole concept, reminded us of fondue but it was way easier to not overcook the meat. I got the seafood trio and my husband the keto flight, bonus they have steak on the kids menu which we of course ordered. All the seafood was impressively fresh and the scallops to die for. Make sure you ask for the sauces (I don't remember what they were called, there is a white one that was my favorite)!!! They were all incredible and made the meal for us. The price matches the quality in my opinion and I'm not easily impressed. I will definitely return and recommend this place to anyone making a trip to the dells. read more

Despite amazing company, this place truly disappointed. We were a large party, so I want to cut them some slack here, so I will give two stars instead of one... We made reservations on a Thursday night in November (so the off season) for a party of 14. When we arrived, there was literally one other table despite the 630 dinner hour. We waited well over 20 minutes for drinks, which I can be ok with if there is only one bartender, but then the waitress should have taken our food order while we waited. So after we got our drinks we ordered food, and then never saw our waitress again until food came out. OVER AN HOUR later our food arrived and another round of drinks was ordered (most of us had been sitting on empty glasses half way through the wait), but by the time they came out again, we were pretty well done with our meals. Two drinks, dinner, and extensive waiting every step of the way; we finally left around 930. You say I'm being too harsh? Perhaps.. It was the off season and they were likely bare-bones staff, BUT the food is RAW! It comes out on a hot rock and the cook it YOURSELF! How does it take an hour to slap a piece of meat and a few vegetables on a rock? And by a few vegetables, it was literally a small carrot sliced in half lengthwise and two baby reds each sliced in half. So, you season the meat with S&P yourself and the meal comes with a few dipping sauces to liven up the flavor. Now, I may not be the biggest steak connoisseur, but a steak I pay money for at a nice restaurant better be damn good enough to eat without drowning it in sauce if I choose, and this once needed to be baptized to taste good. read more

Date night! Chose this place based on reviews. The hot stone concept was perfect and piqued my interest. Husband didn't know what to expect. Ordered the calamari for an app. The menu isn't very large, which, to me, is a good thing! I got the sirloin and husband got the filet. Instructions were given and we had a really good time "cooking" our entrees. I wish the veggie sides were a bit hotter when they came out, but we made use of the "leftover" heat of the lava rock to re-heat our veggies. LOL The restaurant was EMPTY. We were the only ones dining, so I couldn't get a good vibe on how the ambience would've been like on a busier night. We both enjoyed our dinners and it made for a good date night. Husband ordered a specialty drink. It was too sweet for him, and his glass of wine was good too. No leftovers, as the portion sizes were just right. I'd return and try it again! Open tabled for Reservation upon arriving only 2 cars in the parking lot. Took 5 minutes to greet us even though employees kept looking. Finally a manager walked up and asked how many, I explained I open tabled she checked us off then told someone else there to turn off reservations. I asked my wife why she said that she said she overheard someone saying only one waitress. Sat down decor was nice, menus where covered in sticky goo, old food was shoved inside a tiki guy on the wall. Ordered and was told the buttons on the table would summon the waiter. Soup came out but waters never got refilled. Entree came out. Kids fries cold,m. Everything else we cooked ourselves the only issue with the stone it didn't hold the heat the whole time. Wisconsin Dells is made to be a destination of fun! We didn't want to eat at some boring normal restaurant, and this place fit the bill! We had a great time! Although really young kids can get burned (literally if they aren't careful), if they are old enough to understand that the rocks are hot, they will have a great learning experience cooking their own food. (Or just be super excited to see your food). There's a really good dessert we had with the volcano style ice cream on a cold rock that was worth the money. We went here knowing nothing about the place just that it was next door to our hotel. The concept is interesting. Our waiter could not understand us and we could not understand him at all. I get the whole area hires from other country which is fine but when it comes to food there needs to be a decent line of communication. He didn't ask if we had been there or even ask if we knew anything about the place. He just wanted to get our order as fast a possible and keep trying to walk away before we finished ordering for our party of 5. The lack of proper communication became a saftey hazard when my 12 year old autistic daughter and my 10 year old son were served their raw steaks on extreamly hot bricks ( they are kids they have no clue how to cook steak) he starts yelling at every on to flip their steak ( we were still in shock we were served raw steaks and trying to figure out what was going on ) my 10 year old put his hand right on the hot brick. My son spent the rest of dinner crying with his hand in a glass of ice water. My steak turned to leather because I was trying to cook my kids steaks with out further injuries. The waiter came back to see how every thing was and I let him know what happened to my son and that we were not happy that we were not told the kids meals where severed in such a dangerous manner he just offered one " I'm so sorry" and took off running I assumed it was to get a manager but no he just came back with 3 more of the blistering hot bricks. Never seen a manager the whole night and it was not busy. At the end of the night we had to ask him to split the bill he got mad and told us we should of told him before we order. Then we had to go to the front to find some one else because he slit it completely wrong. The steaks had absolutely no flavor it was a complete waste of $101. I could of had better food off a gas grill in a parking lot. Avoid this place if you have kids it's not the place for them. It's not the place for any one who doesn't want to over pay for a meal they have to cook them selves. My son now has blisters on his hand that I have wrapped up with burn cream and will be taking him to his pediatrician today. read more

Very cool experience having your food cooked on a rock however the food quality is very low and WAY OVER PRICED. I ordered a bone KC Strip steak $49 and it was lower quality then a $10 steak at the grocery store. My sons kid menu steak was the size of 2 chicken nuggets and cost $15 and was very bad quality. Honestly I felt a little taken advantage of because this is a touristy area and I believe they are price gouging. I've been to Ruths Chris, and Shula's steak house and there steaks are same price or less and the quality is night and day. So I wanted to come here because the concept is different. Kinda like when I went to the Melting Pot for the first time. But unlike the Melting Pot this did not live up to the hype. I am new to the Dells and have been seeing the signs everywhere for this place. I went in it has a very tiki look. There was no hostess when I walked up which I get it is slower around here lately. The man who met me and took me to my table was very soft spoken and hardly said anything. He left me with a menu and the hope that someone I could hear would be greeting me next. My server was younger man. He asked if I wanted a drink I told him yes but alas I had no drink menu from which to choose. He went and got one for me! I did not see a single tiki like beverage on this menu. But lots of wine so I went with a glass of Pinot Noir. I ordered the spring mix salad which was good. Can't go wrong with toasted pecans, goat cheese and dried cranberries in a salad, the dressing was nice but I wished the salad had been tossed better. Lots of lettuce without dressing on it. I ordered the filet and lobster. It came with asparagus, baby carrots and I selected garlic mash. I wanted to wait til my proteins cooked on the rock to eat the sides but it would have all of went cold by the time everything was cooked. The baby carrots and asparagus were all over cooked. The mash had good flavor. The lobster needed some flavor. And the steak was alright at best! It came with three ramekins of sauces: clarified butter, A-1 steak sauce and an horseradish aioli. The butter I poured over the steak and lobster while it cooked to give it some extra love. The steak sauce was disappointed it was fresh from a bottle. And the aioli was alright but uninventive. They also missed the mark by serving butter in foil packets that was cold. Just one disappointment after another. Not worth the $75 tab for one person. Will not go there again and will not suggest to others. read more

Had our anniversary dinner here. Fun experience with the cooking on the lava rocks. The steaks had good flavor. The shrimp coattail was delicious...the shrimp very good size. Reminded of psycho Suzies in Minneapolis. 3 of us had the pork chop, steak and shrimp meals, 2 virgin pina coladas, an iced tea and Bill was $94 and we were still hungry. I honestly think this meal should've been $50. Steak was fatty. Veggie medley was half a head of steamed broccoli, baby baked potatoes were three fingerling potatoes. Then, I had to cook it myself.
