6-11-24 stopped in here after Rodo's Bar! Celebrated my bf cousins birthday Bar hopping and Happy hours til 2am!!. The service was good the ambiance was chill cool vibes outside, it was like 8 of us, I've never been here but Bmore's Hot Tomatoes is like DC's Jumbo slice, the slices are huge but here it's the most authentic you can tell from the sauce!! . They only had cheese by the time we got there but I fell in love that night because I've been wanting it since that slice and we're now in another month and I need it. I'm very particular about pizza and where I eat in general so this was definitely my speed. And usually I have to have hella toppings but this pizza needed no extras it was greaaat and so flavorful all the way around and I ate this after the alcohol wore off!!! because it truly matters. We came in for the Diablo donuts (which were delicious, BTW) and we're going to town on them in the back when the guy behind the counter approached us and asked if we wanted to try a slice of his new breakfast pizza he'd been working on. OH MY GOD. This was the best thing I've put in my mouth in a long time. It was perfect New York style crust; crispy but also slightly doughy without being burnt, and it held up the plethora of fresh, flavorful toppings, including: bacon, sausage, cheese, spicy green peppers, onions, and a perfectly cooked, yolky, over hard/medium egg baked on top. The slices are large, purposefully increased like two years ago or so, about 1.5 to 2 standard slices. The location: Perfect for late night and post Fells munchies. Still good to drop in anytime - it's aesthetics aren't meant to be a gourmet pizza place. The cost: This becomes the difficult thing to balance as it is expensive. However, the price reflects how popular the place is and the hours they are open to serve. Still, 4 bucks a slice is too much but worth it if you're out late. If you want something cheaper, go across the street to the market where there's a little stand with a more regular but not as good New York style option. The hours are kind of wonky...I think they play it by ear...open when they want to, close when they want to. Sometimes they offer delivery...sometimes they don't. If they were more consistent, I probably would've gone here or ordered from here more often. It's a cheap bite during/after a night out, and it's generally open late (as other reviewers have mentioned, the hours are hit or miss). It's also dirty. Last time I was there the girl taking our order coughed in a towel, served us our pizza, and then wiped her hands on the same towel. I've observed (from my friends behavior, of course!) that when drinking enough people don't seem to care too much about cleanliness, therefore you'll be OK at Hot Tomatoes. If you are looking to try something unique, check for the availability (as, alas, they don't always stock these) of their deep-fried cheesesteaks. Now, I know how odd it sounds but this yummy, cheesy, meaty goodness comes out in a sealed golden brown bread envelope that is pleasantly crispy and, for what it is--a deep-fried hot pocket, if you will--is not unpleasantly greasy. Though this is a speculation, they must use fresh oil as these cheesesteaks are consistently goooood. I had very high expectations coming here. I ordered 3 cheese pizzas for $12. The pizzas were already sitting out and were reheated. I loved the fact that they were extremely large in size. When I actually bit into my pizza it was a huge crunch. I had a hint of sauce and the rest was cheese toasted onto burnt bread. The little bit of sauce I had was actually really good but barely anything. The pizza was dry, the taste and flavors that were in the sauce weren't properly executed due to the sauce being so light. I feel like if the pizza was made fresh this issue wouldn't have occurred. When you reheat something you risk the chance of making it dry. I'm really disappointed about this. read more

1st of all: I'm from NY. 2nd of all: I'm not a huge fan of pizza. I like them, but I won't go out of my way to get them. This is one of the BEST pizza's i have ever had in my life. We had the pepperoni pizza. The slice was huge. the pizza was so nice and thin and crisp. the dough of the pizza crust was just the right amount of chewiness and crispiness. One slice did cost alot though: $4.50 for just a pepperoni slice, but the price is justified since it is one of the only pizzas in Baltimore that can match up to NY pizza standards. The only reason why I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is because of its ghetto/sketchy layout of the store. If it wasn't for my boyfriend, I would never have step foot into that place. It looks dirty and I can see why people would question whether it's sanitary or not. However, the pizza makes up it all. This place has their pizza done right. They know what they're doing. If they could shape up the place a little better, I bet it'll welcome way more customers. Then again, I feel like they're going for the "hole in the wall" gem. Hot tomatoes has been on the bottom of my list since I moved here, but had one good slice recently, so I decided to get it again: Called to order a pizza, and I was told that the only thing available was cheese. That was okay, so I ordered it anyway. I was told 20-25 minutes, so I showed up 30 minutes after calling, and was told that my pizza was given away because I was late. 1. they never asked me what name to hold the pizza under 2. once I got there, they asked me what the name was under 3.magically it was my fault because even though they gave me a 5 minute time span in which my pizza would be available, it was unacceptable to show up 5 minutes outside that time.
