Patio at Laguna hotel

The bar had bad service. We ordered our drinks on the patio bar and we got drinks and appetizers. There was no plates. The drinks were not that great. Had to send the first one back.

The vibe here is great. Everyone is friendly from the start which honestly makes or breaks an entire experience. Drinks tasted great, service was great and the views are all there.

Inside the completely abandoned ghostly building named The Laguna Hotel of old echoes of old and famous patrons reflected in the black and white yellowing photographs hanging on the wall leading up to the oceanfront restaurant in the back, lies one of the most iconic, must visit fantastic classy restaurant in Laguna Beach. Almost all of who's who of artisan world lounges in this most famous hotel restaurant! It's scenic beyond belief. The service is still like 1920's roaring era. The cocktail choices are written on a parchment paper boarded on a piece of driftwood as the full menu presented on the larger rectangular wood. The bartenders are fast and furious with tasty concoction that deserves the praise. The charcuterie board has three different cheeses and various fruits, long crackers and jam. Salami cuts were nice touch. Nacho Tuna platter was just enough for six people to go around once and my favorite was crispy calamari. I had a pint of the best IPA from local Anaheim brewery that was crispy and not bitter. The espresso martini was just right. I recommend you get seated outside facing the beach partitioned with clear glass with the omnipresent gas heater. It's the most perfect setting for once in a lifetime experience! I give fat five stars.

Stopped here for lunch/a quick bite! Such a cute location for a drink or a meal! The food was reasonably priced and the flavors were really good! Perk is the valet parking that's available, making it super easy to stop by without having to look for parking!

Fun place to hang and watch the waves roll in and have some cocktails. Service was great and the interior of the hotel lobby and common areas looked amazing. (We were told that the rooms were not renovated yet.) This place has a retro but modern feel. We really enjoyed our time here. I would make it a stop if you were walking the beach and needed a drink.

This place is an Iconic landmark with great food and incredible beach/ ocean views! Our waiter Lorenzo C was both friendly and attentive. Super service.

I was surprised by the low rating. I made a reservation for dinner Friday night. I didn't expect good food but wanted to see the beautiful beach Sunset view. I took all the recommendations from the service man, and pleasantly surprised the food was pretty good.

I absolutely love coming to Hotel Laguna and treating myself to a solo date at Larsen's! There's something really special about a place that makes a table for one feel like a table for royalty. Every time I come in, I'm welcomed with warmth and treated with care--it's like they rolled out the red carpet just for me (and honestly, I don't hate that). A huge shoutout to the dream team: Mario (server extraordinaire), Shania (the sweetest host), and Luis (another server who always goes above and beyond). They make dining alone feel like dining in style. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking to enjoy good food, a great vibe, and a place that celebrates solo diners just as much as big parties.

This is my favorite spot to show off to my visiting friends! It's deceiving looking at the exterior facade of the building, makes you think that it's not well maintained with the fading outside wall paint. But step inside and you'll be immediately happy you've stepped into one of the swankiest lobby and bar in Laguna. Make reservations at Larsen's and request an outdoor table! If you're lucky like me, you'll score a front row table to take in the unobstructed spectacular beach view while you enjoy the amazing yummy menu and cocktails. Do it! Friendly, prompt service, and lots of hard choices to decide what to order. The calamari and ahi tuna nachos were my choice. Both did not disappoint!

We loved coming here the views are 10/10! But the problem lies in the service and food. I did not come here for a sushi review given it's not a sushi establishment but did end up getting sushi. While pretty, the sushi rolls were not properly rolled at all, falling apart sitting on the plate, fish is semi fresh but lacking flavor. Shrimp cocktail was ok, but fishy and the shrimp gut not taken out. I wanted to give this place a higher review but the service was off when we came a few nights. It began as attentive, but then quickly felt rushed as I felt rushed to search for drinks and frantically picked one based on recc after the waiter came a 3rd time or so, vs what I actually wanted to get if I had time to look up one. Then dinner is served quickly which is always great but the waiter continued to come over repeatedly where it disrupted our convos. So while attentive it became quite intrusive to our convo and time enjoying the views. It was not a line waiting to get in, so not sure why being rushed? Then when the check came, the staff continually starred at our table where it became uncomfortable for me as multiple people since only 2 tables left just stood up top and stared, to the point I ask the other person I'm with why do they keep starring. This prolonged stares occurred until we left and paid and got out of there at closing. The views alone speak for themselves but the service does impede enjoyment of these views and night out. I'm not a fast eater and wanted to take this experience all in to leave a solid review. I am open to trying again, but as a women it became uncomfortable pretty quickly with about 4-5 men starring continually. Maybe they wanted to ensure needs were met but it was pretty clear we were a low service table deep in convo, & didn't need that much attention. The plate was even almost taken before we finished the last bite. So a bit disappointed with the service and feeling rushed.

This is the best Aperol spritz I've ever had in my life. The views of the coast are transcendental, the energy of the location is unmatched. There's not enough stars to rate this place

The location is perfect and close walking distance from many great dining spots. You want to walk whenever possible because parking is a bit stressful and walking allows you to enjoy all that Laguna Beach has to offer. One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. For the price per night, I would say it might be due for some up keep just from normal wear and tear, such as new pillows and things like that. It wasn't super fancy or anything but the location of it offered beautiful views! The hotel and staff are lovely overall. We would genuinely stay here again.

The service was excellent and can see that staff takes great care and attention to making sure everything is taken care of. We very much appreciated all the amenities this inn had to offer such as the welcome drink, evening cookies (delicious!), sauna, sunblock at the pool, towels, lovely breakfast.. all complimentary (breakfast with resort fee). We also appreciated the 10% military discount. We stayed in room 23 which was a standard queen bed with garden view and liked that spot because it felt central, private, and quiet. The room is on the smaller side but it was fine. It does not have a fridge but they provide an ice bucket. We ended up putting our bottled waters on top of the AC box and that kept it cool. Being that the inn is beautifully historic, there weren't many outlets inside the room. The bath robes were very plush. Both lamp shade knobs didn't seem to turn properly but we made it work somehow. Otherwise, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay and so glad we came. Aside from the inn, there is a walk to get to Victoria Beach. We walked south along Coast Highway to Victoria Place and found the underpass from there. We also took the free trolley outside of the hotel to get around town. It could be quite a wait for the trolley as we waited 30 mins. There is a QR code on the sign to track the trolley locations.

My room appeared to be next to what sounded like a utility or service room, and there was loud equipment noise running throughout the entire night. Sleeping was nearly impossible. I reached out to the hotel by both text and email after my stay and was told the matter would be looked into. It has now been over a week with no follow-up or resolution whatsoever. For the rates Surf & Sand charges, guests should not be placed in rooms with constant overnight noise issues, and concerns should certainly not be ignored afterward. Very disappointing experience from a hotel that presents itself as a luxury property.

I researched every hotel I could find that was within walking distance to the beach in Laguna. I was not sure what to expect since reviews were a little inconsistent. I was very impressed by the ambiance of this hotel! It's gorgeous! It's warm, tropical and beachy. Very unlike a chain hotel. There were a lot of beautiful details that made the hotel unique. The bed was very comfortable too. Our room had direct access to the pool and that was a nice feature. Other reviews mention the high cost, I agree, it was costly with additional fees. However it's not an economy hotel. It's directly on the beach and I expected to pay a premium rate because of that. A welcome note and fruit were left in the room upon arrival. The staff were great, Sam checked us in and he was very sweet. There was another young man with long hair that was also very kind (I didn't get his name, he gave great direction on some local shopping). Cons - Our room was not serviced for our 2 night stay. We removed our dnd sign from 11-3 and no one came. For $600 a night this is wild to me that our mats were still wet and no coffee refilled, I didn't see the cleaning staff once throughout our stay. - There is no true restaurant at this hotel. Bites and drinks but no substantial meals. Wasn't surprising to see takeout bags all throughout the halls. - As others stated $75 a night parking fee is wild but you can take your car out as much as you like since there is no Valet - zero amenities in the room -- you have to pay for toothbrush, no water bottles or even carafes of water. Overall the staff, outside of the lovely check in woman were essentially non existent. No cleaners, and even in the morning there were 2 men but they didn't greet or acknowledge anyone. Again for $300 it would be fine and expected but for $600 and on some days even $1K a night on the 4th of July this is wildly overpriced for what you get.

She was efficient but less than welcoming during the check-in process. Unfortunately, I had to interact with this woman two more times during my stay and each interaction was equally unpleasant. My goal in staying at The Tides was to destress but she made me feel like "Bad Dog". Soon after checking in, I had to return to the Office to ask for assistance with accessing the WiFi and a day later, I had to ask for assistance with accessing the pool. I assumed that I needed to use my hotel key to open the gate to the pool. The Office woman made me feel like a fool when she rolled her eyes and said in a tone that I interpreted as exasperated, "There's a latch at the upper top corner of the gate." She was right. There was a latch but it was painted the same color as the gate and I didn't notice it. I only noticed the key hole. My bad. As I floated in the pool, I said to myself, "You are Bad Dog." Someone needs to explain to this Office woman that without these pesky visitors, her business will have no customers and she will have no job.
