Lemon Thyme Turkey with Macaroni Salad 8oz
    Dj L.

Finally stopped into Houndstooth a few days ago! We have been coming to this area for a while now, but just finally stopped to eat here. It's a small place with only 2 little tables on the inside, but lots of outdoor seating. Mainly for to go orders or to eat outside. They specialize in sandwiches, but also offer tacos, soups, and salads. I opted for the Lemon. Thyme Turkey sandwich with a side of macaroni salad! I was in between than and the potato salad. The owner/manager was there and she let me try both! It was a tough choice. My friend got the tacos which looked amazing too. They do offer large portions of sides and soups to go in their cooler too. Price was $14 for the sandwich and just $1 to add the side. Service was excellent and the food was prepared quickly. If you want a quick lunch stop, come here!

Food was ok. Deli style panini sandwich shop was exactly what we wanted. While the cute, shop offered no real seating inside. And even though we ate there just now it is still pretty hot for Florida. 4 stars because sides had lot to be desired

Houndstooth kitchen is a charming small business located in pleasant Maitland with a lovely outdoor eating area! It's surrounded by heavy activity so be sure not to blink and miss this tiny shop. It's the definition of a small business, run solely by the sweetest couple. After ordering at the counter, you can take a seat and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. After deliberation, I decided to order a Rueben panini with a side of macaroni salad. Let me tell you just how far this sandwich exceeded my expectations! Excellent corned beef that was very lean and noticeably high quality. The macaroni salad was lovely as well. It was a Dijon dressing which I appreciate instead of a heavy mayo spread. Houndstooth is definitely a cafe meets deli vibe and I'm here for it! You should be too!

Cute eatery with sandwiches, salad, sides, and more. The service was friendly. Everything is made to order, so it took a few minutes to get everything, but it's worth the wait! They have a nice, dog friendly patio seating area. It has a relaxed vibe.

I still enjoy coming here and sitting outside, especially during an event. The food is good, sometimes the service is super friendly other times it is not but you can tell they take pride in their food. I won't ever get enough of the Jalapeño Pimento Cheese...that's why you don't see it in the picture :) Go check them out if you haven't already.

This is a new discovery of mine & I am so happy about it. Being that this is right around the corner from my job, I came here for a lunch break & I couldn't be more pleased! This is a small cafe right in downtown Maitland. There's plenty of outside seating, but not much inside due to the size of the cafe itself. I personally love how small it is because it really does feel like a hidden neighborhood gem. I ordered the Chicken Avocado sandwich with no sides & it was delicious. The pairing of the ingredients were SO well crafted & yummy. I cant wait to return to try the other offerings...although this may be the kind of place that I don't want to stop getting the same thing since it was so dang good the first round! If/when I decide to branch out - it'll be for that Lemon Thyme sammy. All in all - heaven sent & I will be returning! :-)

    Houndstooth hotdog !

Gotta say as well on those "cold" days in Florida, game days, they have the best hot dog in town! After I moved from Maitland I spent a minute in New York and now Bentonville and the hotdog by Houndstooth was the best. If your thing is eating stuff that's not out of a box then that's your place. Also the owners Dave and Monica are always there so you're eating at a true mom and pop restaurant! They also have great bbq, salads, veggie burger and the famous white bbq chicken salad!

Split pea soup, avocado egg salad sandwich Chile hot dog with pimento cheese , all American hot dog and a bag of chips

All the sauces, mayos "white bbq sauce" are all made in house. The bread they buy wow! oh My stars that spelt bread is soft, grainy and so delicious. I don't care for split pea soup but I heard it was really good so I had to try it and it was the perfect amount of curry and seasonings but not over powering, creamy smooth. It was cold Outside and it hit the spot. I would order the pea soup again and again. It complimented the avocado egg salad sandwich perfectly. Loved the combinations of mashed avocado and chucks of egg mixed with a hint of seasonings and the micro greens tasted Like they just cut them and plated them so fresh and flavorful a extra bonus in my book. Combo done well. Let's talk again about the hot dogs buns. They are Cuban rolls that's right I said Cuban rolls so fresh and squeezee. they pull a little of the bread out the middle place the hot dog inside and fill and pack the rest with delicious goodness of your liking. All American had relishes, ketchup, mustard and the other hot dog had meat and bean chili with pimento cheese. They hit it out the ball park. Get there whatever way you can. Car, bike, train but just get there. You will be going back again and again. They also have for sale containers of their homemade soups, pimento cheese and other items grab and take home to enjoy. The owner was our cashier and server. Very nice, and personable and loves doggies. The place is small inside with a eclectic vibe but knows how to maximize there space with high top tables and a shelf for your purse. It has roll up doors along with a ton of outdoor sitting with large umbrella's. there is a large fountain and a green space across the street to take your food to and have a picnic. Great options. So fresh and all homemade it does not get better than that.

Pulled pork sandwich and pretzel sticks
    Larry S.

Stopped by for lunch while shopping in the area. Enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich which was one of the days specials. Pork was nicely smoked and sandwich had a tasty apple Cole slaw on top of the meat. Pretzel sticks came warm and had a pimento cheese for spreading on the sticks. Besides the good reviews I decided to try the place because of the owners written response to a yelpers stupid review complaining about pricing of the menu items. BTW next door is a brewery where you could buy a beer to enjoy with the food from Hound's tooth and the other restaurants on the strip.

Avocado egg salad with micro greens on a toasted brioche bun. Side of macaroni salad and curried split-pea soup for the win.

Wonderful place with unique deli food. The service is always friendly and quick. The patio tables have a nice view of the surrounding park and it makes for a nice getaway from all the traffic and noise.

    Tomato soup

I love this place. The soup is incredible. I've been two times both times I had to get the turkey and thyme sandwich because it is to die for. The first time I went I also tried the Reuben and the Cuban. The Cuban was nothing to write home about but the Reuben was pretty good. I probably wouldn't order either of those sandwiches again though. This last time I tried the pulled pork sandwich, which was delicious. I would like to try some other sandwiches before I would order that one again. It was falling apart so it's a bit messy. The turkey sandwich is still on top and I definitely would recommend giving it a try. There's nice outdoor seating but beware of the bees. All the people I have come in contact with are so sweet.

Do they have gluten-free option or dairy free?

I noticed they offered a Boxed Lunch combo that included a half-brick focaccia sandwich, a choice of side, chips, and a cookie. Under the Soups & Sides section of the menu, I saw soups, salads, fruit, chips, and bread listed, so I asked if I could get the Kale Caesar Salad as my side. I was told it wasn't considered a side. That struck me as a little odd since it was listed under "Soups & Sides," but I didn't press the issue and instead ordered the sandwich and salad separately. I do wish there had been a sandwich-and-salad combo option, especially since it's Florida and 100 degrees outside--hot soup wasn't exactly calling my name that day! The Ghost Pepper Chicken sandwich was a bit dry, and I didn't notice much Swiss cheese or enough ghost pepper bang sauce to add much heat or moisture. On the plus side, the focaccia bread was fantastic, and the sandwich was piled high with sliced chicken. Even the half-brick size was plenty filling. The Kale Caesar Salad was much smaller than expected and, ironically, seemed like it would have fit perfectly as a combo side. It also contained more romaine than kale, with just a sprinkling of baby kale on top. The Caesar dressing, however, was excellent--rich, creamy, and full of flavor. At $6 for a small bowl, I was hoping for a little more substance. I also treated myself to the Belgian Chocolate Salted Caramel Cookie that would have come with the Boxed Lunch combo, and it was outstanding. Soft, gooey, and packed with flavor. Bricks & Bowls has a pleasant outdoor seating area in a courtyard setting, with tables shaded by large umbrellas. Just keep in mind that there is no indoor seating, and even with the shade, it can be pretty warm during a Florida summer. Overall, it was a decent first experience with some highlights and a few disappointments. The food had some strong points, particularly the focaccia bread, dressing, and cookie, but at around $20 for a quick-service lunch, I left feeling that the value didn't quite match the price.

However, the sandwich didn't quite live up to what I remember. The bread didn't taste as fresh as I expected, and the sandwich was lukewarm instead of warm and toasty like I've experienced at other locations. The Dream Bar was also not quite what I remembered. It didn't have the same richness or taste that made it a favorite for me in the past. I'm not sure if the time of day impacted the quality, but the overall experience just didn't match the Potbelly I remember from Chicago.
