The place was completely empty, I looked at the food, saw it was meh anyway, and left. It made very little sense and we never got an explanation as to why groups of more than 4 are not allowed. Probably not true, I have a latin looking name and kids, this happens a lot in the area, always the same look and feel. Nope, not welcome here, why? No reason. Lovely waterfront, high-end restaurant! Great from beginning to end! Hostess Karyne, waitress MacKenzie both provided excellent service as well as the other servers, etc. Parking was very convenient with self park and comp valet parking in the on-site parking high. I love pickles and liked the tasty pickle slices on the burger. The bun was soft and good, as well. The fries were warm and cooked well. Nice surprise and something I learned is that they have little table "fly fans" to ward off the bugs. We just happened to find this out from another patron as we were using our napkin, lol. We asked for one and it appeared to keep the bugs at bay from our food. Lunch time was not crowded which was nice but we've driven by and noticed that the dinner time gets quite crowded especially outside seating. I'm sure we will do dinner at some time. We would definitely bring special guests here for lunch. Oh, the Crush cocktail was good, per my husband. It is expensive to eat here but as expected for such a nice restaurant. Similar restaurants are in the same price point. It's definitely not our weekly kinda spot. Lastly, the only downside is that I asked if they provide a comp dessert or drink for a birthday person's celebration and was disappointed to find out that they don't help celebrate a birthday. I heard that they will bring a lit candle but you pay for the dessert. It would be a very nice gesture if they at least provide a comp dessert to go with the candle. Houston's has always had a consistent kitchen and every time I go I always know what to expect. This location is no different. In fact, many times I already know what I am going to order before I get there. The roasted chicken is juicy and flavorful and if I am in the mood for a great cheeseburger, Houston's is one of the best. I never fail to order the artichoke appetizer. Also one of the best. Their BBQ Ribs are excellent and have consistently ordered those several times. This location has very convenient parking and valet parking. The bar is very large , but we were told there is a waiting list for the bar which I find odd and inconvenient. I usually like to go into a restaurant bar and take whatever seats are available. Just as the food is consistent, so is the service and they usually hire reliable servers. Losts of salad choices and the portions are big. Houston's is located on the intercostal which makes their outdoor seated beautiful and you do not have to be directly in the sun. I will always come back to Houston's particularly for these dishes. read more

This Houston's fine dining restaurant in Pompano Beach has an amazing location on the intracoastal waterway. This restaurant has been in the same location for over 35 years.The setting is so beautiful and serene. Seating is available inside and an outdoor patio with a setting overlooking the water and boats. There is an indoor bar and an outdoor bar area. I do love that reservations are available on their website. The food was of very high quality with incredible presentations. The prices were reasonable for the quantity and quality. There were a lot of staff available for service. For appetizers, the spinach and artichoke dip with tortilla chips was very tasty. Warm bread that included rosemary focaccia bread, cheese, almonds, and olives was delicious. I thought the Scottish Salmon with mashed potatoes and kale salad was very good. The cheeseburger is highly recommended and also the USDA Prime French dip Au jus. This restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. The menu had a variety of dishes to choose from. I will definitely be back to try another menu item very soon and I definitely recommend Houston's. read more

I haven't been to Houston's since before the covid quarantine. The odds on me coming back are very slim. I met with two friends for dinner, one former restaurant owner from New York. We both had the same feeling when we left. The main complaint we had was finding out that the Houston's corporate service is told to remove your plates and drinks whenever they think you are ready without asking! We were both aghast that the server literally walked by and took them without asking and continued going when we weren't done! While John the manager did replace my drink, that didn't change the fact that my experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Speaking of taste, we started with the spinach artichoke dip which tasted fairly commercial. It didn't come with enough chips to finish the dip. My entree as well as my friends while having a nice visual presentation or extremely bland and needed to be well seasoned. They were so limey that we had to ask for extra cranberry and Quantro. Barely drinkable. I ordered the fish sandwich. Would have been good if they'd have let it drain a little. It was so greasy I could barely eat it. When the waitress asked how the food was I told her it was pretty greasy. Her response was "well it is fried". Wrong answer. I came here for dinner and the red snapper was good it was breaded and fried and very filling I would say it's easily splittable between two people but very delicious and then I also ordered the salmon which was fresh and extremely tasty the top of the salmon was well seasoned and had a bit of a nice crunch to it as well. I also ordered their dirty martini which was refreshing and tasty and made to perfection. I sat outside and truly enjoyed the ambiance I will say this is a great place to visit if you're looking for a date night or to have a family dinner as well. It is very clean and the ambiance is beautiful especially if you sit outside out in the water you will have a great sunset view and view of the boats passing by. I will definitely be back here soon! We arrived with four adults and two small children and were told they could not accommodate us because we were considered a party of six. We completely understood their seating limitations and even offered a reasonable solution by splitting into a four-top and a two-top so we could still dine there. Despite trying to work with them, the staff refused to serve us at all. What made the situation worse was the interaction with the manager, John. He was dismissive, unhelpful, and showed no interest in trying to accommodate our group or find any solution. There was no effort to be hospitable or customer-focused, which was surprising given Houston's reputation. We were polite and flexible, especially with two small children in tow, yet left feeling unwelcome and frustrated. A restaurant of this caliber should prioritize basic customer service and professionalism. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of expectations, and we will not be returning. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. We were a party of 5 and were told by the manager, Kevin, that they had two tables available for groups of five. When we arrived, we were informed there was actually only ONE table for five -- and it was already taken. I politely offered a simple solution: my husband and I would sit at a separate table while my mom, sister, and nephew sat together. Instead of accommodating us, Kevin flat-out refused. He said they "only seat parties of four" and would not allow us to split up -- which makes absolutely no sense. To make matters worse, he was extremely rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. Houston's is a safe choice for dinner. Visited recently for a business dinner and although we had reservations and arrived on time it took quite a while to be seated. Once seated however service was excellent. I had the ribs and they were delicious. The cole slaw that accompanied it was one of the best I've had. The fries however were cold and not fresh. The warm bread plate was also subpar. Our server was pleasant and polite and took great care of us. Menu seems dated and not a good variety. Would I go back? Maybe. I have been eating at this Houston's for more than 20 years. The experience is usually outstanding. Last night was very off. I had to ask 3 times for a napkin. We ordered 3 Crush drinks, requesting no sweetener. All 3 came way too sweet- had to return them. When the check came, those returned drinks & their replacements were all on the check. Our reservation was 7:30. At that time all the great dishes we love were sold out. This has happened other times too. Our waitress was very clueless. Usually the service is exemplary. 1/28/2025 My wife and I stopped in today for a quick lunch, and it was a beautiful afternoon. We had Caesars salad, and we split a piece of Key Lime pie. Both were delicious. Mr. Horowicz, GM, you can be very proud of your terrific Server, Aliyah, as she was very friendly, had a beautiful smile, and did a fantastic job. I've been dinning at different Houston's for years and I have to say my last experience here Saturday, December 21 was not good. My husband ordered a cheeseburger. It was cold. The fries were like sticks of how hard they were. My salmon was cold as was the mashed potato and the broccoli. When the manager brought my food back, he said nothing. My husband told him he didn't want to keep eating the cheeseburger because it was too cold and when my husband said he didn't want anything that was it. Poor MANAGEMENT going down will never go there again. read more

It's been a few years since I've been here, but I always remembered Houston's for having great food. I was not disappointed when we went Sunday evening. It was full, but with seats available inside with hardly any wait. This restaurant is right on the intracoastal and has a nice outside eating area. I ordered the ruby red trout and was able to request a different side than the one it comes with. I tried the braised red cabbage with goat cheese. Both items were super delicious. I didn't know cabbage could be so tasty. I took leftovers home and they were even great the next day. The service was good, our waitress that took our order was very friendly and efficient. The woman that took our drink order forgot about my request for water, but that was not a big deal. Houston's is not cheap but it's not terribly expensive either for the quality and atmosphere you are getting. It would be a great place to go on a date with the dim lighting and quiet sound level. Even though it's hidden away, it has a soft ambience n beautiful views of Intracoastal- Dinner was 2 huge crab cakes (NO filler! )!with sauteed red cabbage topped with ricotta cheese- tiramisu dessert was wonderful- I keep coming back for these crab cakes as one always comes home w me along w the cabbage. Boca Raton location. let's start with the non-friendly hostess that greeted us with , "Do you have reservations and what's your name" NOT HELLO...unclear if she was having a bad day or that's how she typically greets customers. Once's seated , we were greeted by a nice friendly waitress. Which was at the end of her shift but decided to wait on us until her co-worker started his shift... The atmosphere was very Gloomy and the decor is very dark... we ordered old fashions which were decent. Spinach/Artichoke dip and chips were also decent. I ordered the trout which came with a side of coleslaw which I must say I expected better. The trout was salty but cooked perfect and the coleslaw had too much mayo . Let's just say I partially ate my food. My husband had a grouper sandwich that was overpowered by the coleslaw on top of the thick buns. We asked for a side of fries which I was glad they were saltless. For desert we had the key lime pie which it wasn't bad, the crust was the best part of the pie. The wait staff was decent but seemed unhappy. Over all, we will not go out of our way to dine there again. And if I had one close to my home, HOUSTON'S will not be in my top 10 restaurant's to dine in. read more

This was a surprise. I am usually familiar with the menu and service at Hillstone Coral Gables, but Houston's Pompano Beach has a limited menu. We arrived early for our 8 p.m. reservation, only to be informed that we would be seated around 8:30 or 8:45 p.m. We ended up sitting at the bar, and after two cosmopolitan martinis, we decided to have dinner there. Unfortunately, the service was slow and inattentive; I mean, who has dinner without a glass of water? I ordered the salmon and key lime pie for dessert. Overall, I don't think I'll return. The staff have a bad attitude--it has gone downhill over the years, in relation to service, with an approach of the customer are there for the staff and not the other way around. Many locals no longer go there and it is is not related to the ever increases prices -do not mind paying 'over the top' $$ but shoudl be for for both good food and service but the staff just do not care a damn about the experience. What I love about this restaurant is that it's based on it on the most basic of principles "simplicity" We stated off with a bowl of Cabaret Chili topped with onions and cheddar not overly seasoned and very good, served with tortilla chips. I ordered the Ruby Red Trout which is a "simple" filet of fish, seasoned deliciously and cooked to perfection. It's paired with a nice cold, crunchy delicious coleslaw. The hubs had the special Double cut Pork Chop. Grilled perfectly, he enjoyed it but thought the mustard sauce was unnecessary since it was flavorful enough. His dish came with 2 sides. He chose the roasted peppers with feta and their delicious coleslaw, both were excellent. We ordered a side of Broccoli Reggiano, simply delicious. For dessert we shared the Apple Cobbler and Walnut Pie with Ice Cream, very good but a small scoop of ice cream. The servers are all exceptionally well trained and excellent. Today we called when 1 minute out and they said they take reservations for the inside and outside bar and they would see us when we arrive. I said would you like our name to be put on the reservation list and she said no you have to come in. Upon arrival the front desk said you have to goto each bar and put you name in. I replied how long do you think that will be for me ti go to one bar and put my name in and then goto the next bar and put my name in. We had a reservation but could not be seated outdoors without a wait of 15 or 20 minutes. We chose to wait. We were seated outdoors with a very nice view. Our server was friendly and we ordered a grilled Brussel sprouts appetizer to start. I have had the veggie burger here in the past and knew it was good. My friend ordered a Houstons Chicken salad, her go to. We enjoyed all, especially the appetizer w the side sauce. Houstons has been around for a very long time. They always have a crowd and they have strict rules which are mentioned online when you make your reservation. The prices are high and the food is good, as expected. We were in Pompano Beach on Wednesday on business and decided to have lunch at our favorite Houston's. We have eaten here several times and have always loved sitting outdoors by the Intracoastal watching the yachts, boats, airplanes, and jet skiers go by. The ambiance is very relaxing both indoors and outdoors. We always know that the food here is going to be above par and they didn't disappoint this time either. We decided to order our favorite lunches. My daughter had the Hawaiian ribeye with fries, and I had the French Dip sandwich with fries. Delicious and it hit the spot! We passed on dessert. Our server was Jasmine, who was very nice, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Service was quick and friendly. I would like to add a special mention about A.J., who deserves a gold star for going above and beyond her duties by helping me when I was having a physical difficulty after getting up from sitting too long in my chair. My knee gave out, and I was in severe pain. I couldn't walk and was holding on to the table umbrella for support. I was stunned and couldn't think how I was going to walk to the car. I had my cane with me, but it wasn't enough support at this time. A.J. rushed over to ask me if I needed help and offered her arm as support to help me make it to our car. Without her help, I was stuck in one spot because I couldn't move. Slowly, we started walking to the parking lot. When my daughter saw the trouble that I was having, she jumped out of the car and came running over to help. I made it to the car with their help. A.J. was so gracious and helpful. I am very grateful to her and hope Houston's Restaurant recognizes what a valuable employee they have in her! She saw an emergency and rushed to resolve the situation without hesitation. Thank you, A.J. Parking is easy and available right at the restaurant. They also have wheelchair accessiblability. The location is easy to get to from I95.
