I called Howdy Honda and talked to Jason. I was able to get everything on my must-have list and almost everything on my would-like list for the price I wanted without going all the way down there. Once I got there Jason was busy so the rest of the experience was with Justin. He came across as very warm and genuine. He never tried anything high pressure tactics on me and the process went smoothly. I wish I could have found a red one but I'm still very happy with the dark gray one. He also synced up my phone for me and showed me how to use all the extra gadgets. He followed up with an email offering to answer any more questions and sent me videos to help me figure things out. I purchased a vehicle 2 years ago from howdy honda. At the time of the purchase I was very pleased with the terms of the agreement and even elected to buy gap coverage through honda gap as I had been screwed in the past on a vehicle I had financed and had totalled. Lesson learned right? Fast forward to 2 years later, I was in an accident in which the vehicle was deemed a total loss. No problem i thought," i have gap insurance". Wrong! After my insurance company paid out the amount that they appraised the car's value at, the gap insurance company was supposed to pay the remaining balance on the loan. Short story is they didn't. I apparently still owe honda around $500. When I contacted howdy Honda's financial department about the remaining balance I was told that they had nothing to do with honda financial and they couldn't do a damn thing for me. So now I'm left to pay off the remaining balance on a car that's totalled in addition to making another vehicle payment every month. Whats the point of purchasing gap insurance if it doesn't close the gap. Total bullshit. I know that this review is really more critical of Honda financial and honda gap but howdy Honda sells their products and when you get hosed they simply pass the buck and shirk any responsibility. We purchased a used Honda CRV from Howdy Honda. The experience was dreadful, but we saw it all the way through to the end because the car they had in stock was literally the only one in central Texas with the specific color and trim we were seeking. If you shop at Howdy Honda, pull up a loan calculator on your phone. Our salesperson presented us with a deceptive spreadsheet. The form featured the cost of the car (plus other expected expenses), our monthly payment, and of course the total cost of the car with interest etc. after 5 years. When I plugged the numbers into a loan calculator, it didn't add up. In fact, they were overcharging me by $3500. The salesman noted that the column of expenses had not included the cost of the extended warranty (which I had specifically declined), but it was still in the total. Folks, the only way that happens is if the data is intentionally obscured/removed. I was furious, and let him know. The manager of the used car department came out an hour later and told me that the salesperson had been fired. I don't really believe him. The company produced a deceptive document; it was no accident. Later, I found another mistake. The new salesperson accidentally put the money for our trade-in in the wrong column. Oopsie! I would be paying them to take to my trade-in. When I caught their mistake, the salesman said, "It's a one-time mistake." Except this was the second mistake, and it kept working out to their financial advantage. We contacted our bank and other institutions to negotiate a competitive loan. Howdy Honda eventually beat our bank prices, so we agreed on a loan rate. When we finally sat down to sign the paperwork (after spending more than 10 hours total trying buy the car; I'm not kidding), it featured a higher interest rate. We told the finance guy it was wrong, and he just said, "ain't gonna happen." This was their third major financial mistake which would add thousands more to their profits. After 10 hours of negotiation, deception, and scamming, we stood up to walk out. And the finance guy started yelling at us. My amazing wife stood up and ripped him a new one. He threw his hands up, offered a weak apology, and said we would try to work something out. I showed him paperwork with the rate they had promised me, and he agreed to figure it out. This was at 11:00pm on the 4th day of trying to purchase the car. Unbelievably, we were out of the country the following week for a family vacation when the finance guy called me. They needed me to come in ASAP and re-sign all the paperwork because they had to renegotiate our loan with a different bank. As you can imagine, I refused using colorful language which I can't type here. The day after we returned to the states, he drove out to my house with the new set of forms. Believe it or not, this is the short version. I've let some time pass before posting this to make sure I wasn't just angry. This was all pre-pandemic. I hear people have great experiences buying new cars at Howdy Honda. Good for them. Take a calculator with the expectation that they will deceive you if you decide to buy a used car from Howdy Honda. Double check all their numbers. Photograph every form they give you (even the temporary proposal/negotiation forms) in case you need to send it to the Attorney General's office. read more

The only issue I have is that I was told my car payment would be one amount and when I went to sign the paperwork, oh look, I have to buy warranty and gap which brought my car payment up another $70.00. I don't have a problem having warranty and gap, but I think when selling a vehicle, it should be required to state that information beforehand, that way people who are on a budget know what they are getting themselves into. It's a deceitful sales tactic if you ask me. In the past, my car payment amount has always included everything at the very beginning. read more

I took my 2010 Insight here back in February/March after my IMA battery light came on. I did research before bringing the car in and was afraid that it would be extremely expensive to fix. Sure enough, after I brought the car in, I was told that the hybrid battery was no longer holding a charge and I would have to get it replace for about $4500. I had only bought the car about a year previously for about $7500, so I wasn't thrilled about having to invest more than half of what I had already paid. I called the Honda national headquarters to see what we could do. They informed me that the battery was actually still under warranty and I should not have to pay a thing to have it replaced entirely. I was relieved by this and called Howdy Honda to let them know what national had told me. They said they would "look into it". Then they called me back and claimed that all I actually needed was a simple software update for the battery rather than needing to have it replaced entirely after all. I didn't ask why they had wanted to replace the battery entirely before when a simple software update could have solved the problem, though I probably should have. Essentially they wanted to charge me $4500 for no reason and would have if I had not done some researching of my own. I agreed to the software update which I was told would fix my problem, and it did seem to do so for a few months. Then in July, I was driving north of Dallas and the IMA light came on AGAIN. I took the car to another Honda dealership and was told the software update for the battery Howdy Honda claimed to have done had actually NEVER BEEN DONE, at least not properly or entirely. After they tried to charge me $4500 for something that, A. Was under warranty, and B. I didn't actually need, I had no plans to go back to Howdy Honda anyway. But after learning they hadn't actually performed the software update that they claimed would solve my problems, I'm warning eveyrbody, especially young women, to stay away. I strongly believe they tried to take advantage of me because I seemed ignorant about cars. At the very least, if you go here, do your own research! I forgot to add, they also attempted to charge me an additional $1,200 for a "leaking steering rack" repair. I didn't trust their assessment, so I refused to have the repair done. Instead, I took the car to an independent mechanic who told me there was absolutely no issue with the power steering. Talk about up-charging and unnecessary repair recommendations... read more

Oh Howdy Honda, you charge me $90 to tell me I need a new part for my right passenger side door lock. It will cost me approx $350 for you to fix it. I found the part on Amazon for $30. My gas cap light is blinking so you suggest I replace the gas cap just to see if that fixes the problem but you're not sure if it will. The gas cap will cost another $75 from you. Found the gas cap on Amazon for $30. Or, I can spend another $90 to diagnose to see if that's actually the problem to begin with. I have purchased three vehicles from you but after this I will take my business elsewhere. Thanks for taking my $90 today while I walk out with absolutely zero work done. Do yourself a favor and just ask for ROSS!!!! Hands down the BEST experience we have ever had while purchasing a vehicle. My husband and I had previously been Toyota people, but we had such an awful experience with the car salesman at Toyota that we decided to explore other options. And we are SO glad we did. From the second my husband 1st spoke with Ross he knew that he had our best interest in mind. So relatable and made him feel comfortable . He asked all the right questions and truly wanted to help us find the right fit. My husband called me from the dealership and said, "So... pretty sure I just test drove our next vehicle" and set up a time later that night for me to come and check it out. Ross and Christian (sales mgr -also AMAZING) insisted we take the new Honda Pilot home, overnight to really get a feel for it and make sure it really worked for us. Needless to say we did and we LOVED it!!! We had a budget we wanted to keep around and they crunched the numbers... they were both so patient with all the questions we threw at them about both the buying and leasing options. What could have been a pleasant buying experience turned out to be a lesson of "walk away when you see the red flags". I called about a 2000 Honda Civic LX which had a lengthy CarFax report indicating pretty good maintenance over the car's 22 years. The price listed was $5491, which , considering the condition and mild mileage of the car, seemed appropriate. Thomas, the salesperson with whom I had throughout the transaction, was, in all fairness, ok. What was not ok was the price that I actually was supposed to pay after "Dealership Appearance Package AND the addition of LoJack, both for another $998 tacked onto the vehicle. There was No chance to have this removed (remember, it would cost Howdy additional $$ to have the LoJack taken off) and the spray on paint protector is only good for a 12 month period. I casually asked if there was a good spare donut tire in the trunk, and was told there was none in the trunk. Asking if there was by chance one around the dealership that could be thrown in, I was told it was traded with none and that's how it was being sold... with none. Fine. The car was to have been serviced, according to the Carfax, as well as Thomas. When it was off loaded from the transporter in Indiana, I put a tire gauge on each tire to see what the pressure was, as they all looked very low in the listing pictures. They all were measuring 15-18 psi. Someone in the service area needs a new tire gauge!! I literally drove the car a 1/2 mile, and a check engine light came on. I reset it , via a YouTube video, and will be watching to see what happens. Music sounds nice, so I thought, " let's try out the radio".... The volume knob spins in place, but no radio sound come upon my ears. . I may sound like I'm nitpicking, but everything I've mentioned here is basically undisclosed shit that should have either been disclosed or repaired considering the price that was paid. Sorry Howdy Honda, but this is not a good way to retain customers. Again, Thomas was basically alright, but I fear he was thrust into a bad situation by the dealership that he works for. read more

The CR-V EX-L is very popular so I had been looking on-line for about 6 months and every time I'd find what I wanted, it would be sold before I could make an offer. Well, with Gerry, I got the car I wanted, for the price I said I'd pay, they gave me the financing that fit my needs and gave me what I wanted for the trade of my Honda Accord. Gerry gave me the "red carpet treatment". It was the best car buying experience I've ever had. I'm not usually a take my car to the dealership kind of person because I feel like it always costs sooo much more. I decided to give Howdy Honda a chance when I needed an oil change and tire rotation (they are less than 2 miles from my house). It was quick and easy to make an appointment online. I showed up at my appointment time and pulled up in line and they came to me in my car and got me checked in and it was super quick and easy. I decided to stay and wait on site. They have have a spacious and clean waiting area with free wifi, coffee, krispy kreme donuts, juice, soda, pretty much whatever you need. A service adviser comes out to you and lets you know the status and anything else you might need to do. They did have a couple of suggestions of things I needed to do but it wasn't hard sell where I felt like they just wanted me to do something so they could make more money. I ended up doing the coupled of other things that my car needed and they were able to do it right then and I was on my way pretty quickly. They even wash your car for you at the end. I would defiantly come back for any other service needs. read more

I'm not happy, at ALL, with this Honda dealer. I've brought a few cars in my lifetime from around the Austin area; From Ford, Nissan, Mazda, Chevy, and Jeep but Howdy Honda had to be the most memorable. 1. High HIGH HIGH PRESSURE tactics. I didn't feel like a customer after trying to work with the salesman; A sucker is more like it because they really tried to work me over. I'm just glad I had a calculator on me because I know what .0625 of 19,000 is and it isn't 22,000! That was the first time they tried to get over on me. 2. My trade in: I guess I should of known I was in trouble when they asked me, "Have you had this car appraised before?" Of course, I hadn't so they were able to make random offers on it. In the end, they offered me 5,500 but the number just magically jumped up to 6,500 after some complaining. Why didn't they just offer me the full amount in the beginning? 3. The reason why I even visited this Honda dealer was because they didn't have the car in stock. I thought, a test drive and vehicle appraisal wouldn't hurt but it did. They tried to sell me a car they DID NOT HAVE and had the nerve to say, "We can order it but if it comes with extra features, you'll have to pay the difference". PLUS, the guy even tried to shame me. "Oh... You know how much work I did to get these numbers for you? Had I of known you wouldn't of brought a car on the lot, I would of never gone through all this trouble" At that point, that was the end of it and I left. Sorry, I do not feel bad that you had to walk down a hallway to speak with the manager. I'm not sure if I'll even buy a Honda at this point. The Nissan guys seemed nicer and I might have to check them out again tomorrow. read more

I bought my car from Howdy Honda about 10 years ago, and they've always been wonderful. When I take it in for service, they communicate constantly and accurately - you don't have to chase them down to find out what's going on with your car or how long it will take or how much it will cost. Having the 7am opening for dropoffs is very helpful, and they've got a great arrangement with the local enterprise rent-a-car that makes it easy to get a loaner car if your car has to stay for a while. Recently, I had the most amazing stellar experience there, far above and beyond the normal excellent service I expect from Howdy Honda. My S2000 was making a horrible screeching noise, and it sounded just like one that it had made about 18 months ago. I took the car in, and the mechanics found that a part in the rear wheel bushing/axel area was failing. This was the exact same area that they had been in about 18 months ago, but there's no way to tell if the new failure was just luck of the draw or actually had anything to do with the service 18 months prior. After all, I had driven some 8000 miles without any issues.... But the good folks at Howdy said, "Hey, it could have been our repair - or it could not have been - but we'll make the fix anyway for free." That's absolutely amazing! To top it off -- as if it could get any better! -- the mechanics also helped me out by making a simple fix to the front bumper, which I'd pulled out by catching it on a curb. I didn't have the leverage or the strength to push the bumper piece back into alignment - but they did, and they just took care of it without saying a word about it (or charging me anything for it either). If Honda still made S2000s, I'd buy another one from Howdy Honda in a heartbeat. In the meantime, I'll keep going to Howdy for service when needed. read more

I just bought a 2013 Honda Fit from Howdy Honda and dealt with Steve Gonzales. The service was excellent. He worked to get me the best deal possible, to meet my payment needs etc. He worked with his team to figure out how to get the most for my trade in and to get me the best interest rates. It was easy and stress-free. On my first visit we weren't able to get quite enough on my trade in and I liked that he was honest with me and didn't push me to pay the higher payments. He advised me to check to see if I could get more for selling my car and recommended a place to do it. After leaving I received a call a little later and he had actually gotten them to agree to give me more for the car! He was even able to work out a better deal for a 5 year loan rather than a 6 year loan which is saving me a lot of money in the end. All around, the experience was great and there was no bulls*** or pushiness that you sometimes see with car salesmen. Now I'm in a new car that I love with a price that I can afford. Howdy Honda has exceeded all of my expectation for a car dealership. They consistently go above and beyond their call of duty to help me with everything I have needed. Rob Dee was/is my salesman and I have no plans to ever go anywhere else for my transportation needs. Rob makes every interaction a breeze and he clearly cares about being a decent guy while putting the customers first. He is the antithesis of a "car salesman". He becomes your right hand man and will do anything to make the process of buying a car actually enjoyable. It's supposed to fun! I purchased my very first new car in June 2013 - a 2013 Honda Fit. I went in just to look, go for a test drive and be on my way. Then they offered me a magical deal that I could not pass up. Seriously, I'm pretty sure that they worked actual magic. Amazing. Wizard. Magic. I ended up leaving with a brand new car and the best financing I could have hoped for (through Honda Financial). I LOVED my new car and I proceeded to take it on a 4000 mile road-trip. Everything was fantastic and I couldn't have been more satisfied. Then someone ran a red light and slammed into the driver's side door. My very first, brand new car was now completely totaled. I had the car a mere 8 months. I was very lucky to walk away with minimal injuries and began the process of dealing with an insurance company (but that's a review for another time....). I was getting the run around on whether or not a rental car could be covered, for how long, etc from the insurance company so I called Rob Dee. When he sells you a car, he gives you a few of his business card - calls them "get out of jail, free" cards and he really means it. You can call him for anything - restaurant or movie recommendations, advice, or anything. I called him because I didn't know what else to do, that I needed a new car, and that he would do everything in his power to help. That's exactly what he did. He ever offered to get me a loaner car until we could get everything figured out. Again, he worked some amazing magic and he had another 2013 Honda Fit ready for me in 2 days. He did all of this without me even having to go into the building. It was the exact same car, same color, same features, same add-ons, same AMAZING financing. He managed all of these things even though the settlement on my first car wasn't finalized. Everything was restored to as it was before - minus a boatload of medical bills and hundreds of hours dealing with the at-fault driver's insurance company. It was like I had stepped back in time and got a chance to start over. It amazed me that throughout the entire ordeal, it was my car salesman that treated me with the most respect, understanding, and compassion. Honestly, everyone I've worked with at Howdy Honda - Rob Dee, the finance guys, and the service center staff have demonstrated that they deliver not only top notch customer service but that they genuinely care about their customers and treat them like family. Where to begin...I have unfortunately not had very good experiences here. My first experience began quite a few months back with a tire change. We had a slow leak in our tire and needed to have it either filled or replaced. The mechanic told us the leak was too close to the rim and the tire would need to be replaced. We had a certain brand of tires on our car that were pricey but we wanted to have the same tire put back on...they said no problem. From the time I came in until the time I left was about 2.5 hours (I was also pregnant at the time which made the follow of events even more so inexcusable). I got home and my fault that I did not even think to look at the tire they put on because I trusted it was exactly what was needed. My husband looked at it and said "this is not the correct tire." So I called and they said to come in and they would look at it. The next day I went back, they checked out the tire they had put on vs. the tire they should have put on and told me it would be a day or two before they could get the correct tire in and replace it. Two days later they called so I went back again to have my tire replaced. About 1.5 hours later, my new tire was put on. I came outside and checked it out...it was again the wrong tire. I talked to the service receptionist and they had the mechanic come out and look at it. They kindly apologized and then said they have the correct tire, they just failed to put it on. Back to the waiting room. 45 min later my car was complete. I walked over and it was in fact the correct tire this time...it just did not have a cap on the valve for some odd reason. They were eager to give me 5 in order to compensate for the lack of one. For this frustration of three trips to Honda and over 5 hours of time lost they gave me complimentary oil changes. So, not long ago I went to get my oil changed. They will always look over the car to let you know if anything else needs fixing. I had asked them to check the brakes out for me since I had not had them done in awhile. They came back with a few minor things to get fixed but brakes were fine. Fast forward to today. We have an odd sound that was diagnosed as the starter needing to be changed. This time we brought our car to First Texas Honda up north. Along with the starter they told us our brakes were so bad they needed to be changed immediately because they were unsafe and that we also needed an oil change. WHAT?!?!? I had told him our "free" oil change was just done maybe 2.5 months ago and our brakes were also looked at then. Plus we were traveling for about a month so our car wasn't even being used for a good majority of this time. So, thank you Honda again, for the tremendous amounts of lost time and more importantly for putting our safety at risk. read more

Between me and my husband we have 50+ years of car buying history. Our recent purchase at Howdy Honda surpassed anything we had ever experienced. Our salesman, Nik Popov, was informative, pleasant, and not the least bit pushy. They did not have the model in the color we wanted so we ordered exactly what we wanted. Nik kept us informed through the waiting period and when I called him my calls were always taken and all my questions were answered. As we couldn't always be at Howdy Honda at the same time, Nik had to jump through some hoops to get all our paperwork done and he did it smiling. The experience picking up my brand new Honda HRV-EX in the luscious green color Honda has was much more than expected. I am the type of person who reads the entire manual before I crank the engine. Nik Popov spent over an hour educating me on every detail of the car. He never appeared to be hurried and he did not laugh at any of my questions no matter how silly they were. When he finished I knew I could drive with confidence. His tutelage was so through I have not yet to referred to the manual. We went to Howdy Honda because they were such an award winner and we were looking for a quality Service Department. Having what we consider to be the best Sales Department we ever utilized because of Nik Popov was a bonus. We would most highly recommend Howdy Honda to anyone in the market for a car. read more

I was given an update regarding my door actuator. Seems my purchased extended warranty covers it instead of the the judgement that Honda should replace it for free. Grateful to Jacob for at least explaining it to me and doing a second look at my paperwork and finding that the warranty covered it. It has turned a bad financial moment into a tolerable inconvenience. Got a car from here back in 2012 (salesperson: Rex). Since then, I've come to Howdy Honda to get some basic inspections, but mainly to get random parts. The Parts dept. always super responsive and helpful to get what I need, whether it's windshield wipers or light covers. Given that the car I got was a new Honda car at the time, there really hasn't been anything I'd had to get majorly repaired at all in the past 10 years. The most honestly was just getting the car door locks replaced, and I've gone to this Howdy Honda location every time to get it replaced, with awesome results and things back to normal afterwards, so I totally trust them for these kinds of repairs. They also offer a service of driving you back home after you go there to get something serviced, to save you an Uber ride. The only thing they are upfront about is not doing things like cosmetic repairs like replacing bumpers but things may have changed the last time I asked (which was maybe 5-6 years ago). Anyways overall I go to them as to me they are a trustworthy dealership. read more

Just paid $800 for a starter for a Honda Accord. Upon arrival home, the engine light came on. Got the code and it was the purge valve. After close inspection, I noticed a small hose leading to the purge valve was disconnected. I reconnected it and after some driving, the light went off. How did the hose come off? Go figure. Multipoint inspection was never done as said and car was not washed as promised. I paid top dollar and my trust for incompetent service. Am I pissed? You bet. read more

Internet sales group - agreed on price of Honda CRV Touring but was not in stock. Ordered it and waited seven weeks for it. Had a two year old Honda Accord LX to trade. They would not give me a trade value until my new vehicle arrived. I showed them my quote from Carmax and they said they would match it. When the CRV arrived, they called me and lowballed me on the Accord, two thousand below Carmax. The Accord had low mileage and was still under warranty. They told me to get a new quote from Carmax and I did - same price. They said that they would not match it. They offered to give me a ride to Carmax. I was livid. I met my end of the bargain and they welched. The manager even yelled at my wife. We angrily walked and took our business to round Rock Honda, who easily met our terms. I have bought several cars from Howdy Honda over the years and always felt like I was treated well and that the deals where no nonsense and honest. I'm a loyal Honda customer because they build a quality car. My last car purchased over the recent labor day weekend has changed my mind. Howdy Honda is now adding car sealants, nitrogen filled tires and tracking service to contracts with no option to exclude them; The tires come nitrogen filled, the sealer is already on the car, and the tracking service gizmo is already installed. The justification is that they need to keep the "lights on" as internet pricing is reducing margins. The advise I'm reading is to shop elsewhere. Very unfortunate when a good business with a loyal customer must resort to such low-life tactics that remind me of American car dealerships of the past that I stopped doing business with. Most of us recall the bad old days of haggling over these add-ons in the finance office upon finishing up the deal. I called up and spoke to one of the finance reps at Howdy Honda and gave him an ear full of how I felt and was told that was how they are going to roll going forward. I leased a Honda Fit from here and paid extra in my lease for oil change packages and detailing. I remember specifically being told "any time you want your car detailed just bring it in". I did all these extras so I would only bring the vehicle here for all things. Completely regret it and can not wait for my lease to be up. Never once has my car been properly serviced and the times Ive requested it be detailed it doesn't get cleaned. A quick drive through the wash is not detailing. Today I was charged for getting my car serviced when it should have been covered. Then I was returned a damaged car. They literally brought the mirror cover out as if I would fix it myself and be on my way. And once again my car was not detailed. I wish the service department would actually look up what someone has included, quote accordingly, and properly take care of things. I was even understanding and let them have my car for 5 full days because they were backed up. I'm not really sure what the point was of adding any upgraded things to my lease. This is incredibly poor business. Definitely not extending my lease and not getting another Honda from here. read more

My husband bought his second Honda this weekend from Howdy Honda. He's been a customer for 18 years. Good experience except for the pre-loaded items that cost you whether you wanted them or not. Nitrogen in tires/warranty $299, paint and window warranty $199, GPS/anti-theft system with 1 yr use $199. Wow, $700 added to price of car would have been nice to have been told while looking at it. We were told about the features as a selling point, as though they were included, but not that we would ultimately be paying on top of purchase price. Nothing to be done either. They should be up front about the cost part and not wait until you are signing the deal. Salesperson, Carina, was very nice. Previous buy was with Brad and that was a great experience. read more
