Johnny, Amanda, Juce, Mario, Ali, everyone from the OG team is there to make sure everything is run the right way and things don't change just because they are in a major hotel! Food is still absolutely delicious and the best chicken you're ever going to eat. Howlin rays usually has really long lines in LA, so this location is great if you want to try their chicken without waiting in super long lines. Hard to say anything negative about this place that I've been wanting to try in LA but have never got the chance to go there so once that I saw another location opened up while I was in Vegas, I knew that I had to go. Located inside the Venetian and the new Via Via food hall, there's a couple different places in there in case someone in your group doesn't want some delicious hot chicken. The line wasn't long and the menu is simple, I got a medium chicken sandwich, fries and banana pudding. It took about 10 mins or so for the food to come out and you just grab a seat anywhere since it's open seating or take it back to wherever you are. The sandwich was huge, with plenty of slaw and pickles which is greatly appreciated. Super juicy chicken, ton of seasoning and depending on your spice level, I thought the medium was a good way to taste the spice without ruining your day. The fries were nice and crisp and the banana pudding to end the meal was a great option to cool down any lingering spice. So glad that I was able to come by to try Howlin's Ray's and hopefully be able to check out the OG spot one day but this will have to do. read more

This is probably as good as it gets when it comes to fast casual within a hotel, as Howlin' Ray's has a great reputation in LA and there's virtually no wait at this location throughout most parts of the day. However, the service is still really great, as the associates are patient with explaining the menu options and giving fair warnings about the spice levels. For example, the Howlin' hot is absurdly hot and they make sure you understand just what you are getting yourself into. However, I opted for some mild tenders and the shake fries, which were both extremely tasty and so good that I ended up going back the following day for another order for my family. The pricing is also very fair, as the shake fries are about $5 and the tenders (for 3 pieces) are $15. The fries were perfect, crispy/crunchy on the outside yet fluffy potato goodness on the inside. The only thing I did not care for about this location is the fact that sauces are extra pricing, 75 cents per extra cup of sauce of either aoli or housemade ranch. However, the housemade ranch is a great pairing and I love the amount of dill that is added into it, so I guess it can be argued that it is worth the price. Overall, fantastic food, somewhat decent pricing, and I look forward to returning back to the Venetian to get my favorite fried chicken spot! read more

So delicious and huge portions! We got the mild chicken sandos which still pack a little heat. Think chicken done more Nashville hot style with the wet seasonings. Their coleslaw and pickles make the sandwich extra. We also got the french fries which had a great seasoning on it and tried both of the sauces. The ranch type sauce was super good if you like dill especially. The line wasn't too busy and the servers were super nice. The sweet peach tea is delicious however packs 115% of your daily sugar so I only drink half the can. They also have jumbo chicken wings and tenders. This was my first time trying out the new Howlin' Ray's in Las Vegas, and it did not disappoint! Finding the location was a bit tricky, since there are multiple food courts in both the Venetian and Palazzo, but ask for the Via Via food hall (home to Ivan Ramen, All'Antico Vinaio, etc.) and you'll spot it. We ordered The Sando, two tenders, and the shake fries, along with both their sauces: comeback sauce and Tennessee tang. It was a whirlwind of flavor. The sandwich came with coleslaw, which surprisingly added a nice crunch that balanced out the juicy, flavorful chicken patty. That said, for $16, I didn't feel it was worth the price, and I'd rather get the a la carte tenders next time. Speaking of tenders, they were massive and incredibly juicy. I went with the X-Hot spice level, and wow, this was hands-down the spiciest thing I've ever eaten. (The only difference between X-Hot and Howlin' is that the latter includes chili paste on top of the dry rub.) The complimentary bread served with the fries wasn't anything special, both bland and a little stale, but it did help take the edge off the heat. The shake fries, on the other hand, were totally worth it: overflowing, crispy, and well-seasoned. I loved the comeback sauce. It reminded me of Freddy's or Cane's sauce, and the Tennessee tang had a tzatziki-like flavor that worked surprisingly well with the fries. We also received a small glass container of honey, which we didn't end up using, but I appreciated the thoughtful freebie. Never had a chance to try the Howlin' Rays in Pasadena or Chinatown, so I was so excited they opened this one in Las Vegas at my home base, the Venetian. Came when they opened around 11 and there was already a lot of people waiting for their orders. However, once you order, the food comes out really quickly. Workers were super friendly. The owner Johnny was there still training up the staff and I talked to him for a bit. Super cool guy. I got the mild chicken sando, shake fries, single mild tender, and the banana pudding. Wasn't too spicy, but there is a little kick at the end. Chicken was a good size and was nice and juicy. My sandwich held up well too and did not fall apart while eating it. Fries were really good, nice and crispy and they give you a lot for $5. The banana pudding was a perfect treat at the end of the meal. Was so excited to see Howlin' Rays open up a location here in Vegas. I had eaten at the original location in Los Angeles' Chinatown years ago and if my memory serves me well, it was the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had... (at the expense of a 1-2 hour wait!) Located in the Venetian's food hall Via Via, there was little to no wait at the register here, although there is somewhat of a wait on the kitchen for your order to be ready. I got the Sando for a very reasonable $16 considering it's on the Strip. I stuck with medium heat. My friend got a sample of an extra hot chicken tender and I tried a single bite -- I was DYING, crying, and blowing my nose for what felt like an eternity. Watch out for that lethal spice mix coating their chicken! Medium is more than doable, it honestly feels more like a mild especially coupled with the sweetness of the sandwich bun and the cooling taste of the coleslaw and pickles. I have heard the jump between medium and hot is quite noticeable, and maybe one day I'll be brave enough to make that jump but I'm perfectly content with my medium. The Sando comes with a huge, delicious piece of chicken so definitely no complaints about portion sizing. For extra fees you can get a side of fries or even a small container of their comeback sauce (which tastes ranch-based). I was so excited to be visiting Las Vegas just a few weeks after Howlin Rays opened their first Las Vegas location inside the Venetian Hotel. As an avid Hot chicken and Chicken sandwich fan, I was eager to try Howlin Ray's. I tried the "Medium" spice level Chicken Sando, which was so flavorful and decently spicy from the breading into the marinated chicken. The sandwich is just so perfectly crafted, juicy and crispy chicken, a tasty slaw to balance out the spice, crisp pickles, their comeback sauce layered on the bottom and top of the sandwich, all between toasted buttery buns. Plenty of seating. I am SO HAPPY this is in Vegas. We moved to Utah recently, and this was a nice surprise taste of home (LA) during our visit. No chicken sandwich has ever topped Howlin Rays - and this location holds up to what we remember from Chinatown. Meat was perfectly cooked - juicy and flavorful on the inside, crunchy but not bready fry on the outside. I got mild because I didn't want to hurt my tummy, and despite the mild heat it did not sacrifice on flavor. Folks who served us were super nice, the chef was out here for the grand opening I think? This gives passion project that is actually run well - everything is intentional and you can tell they care about what they do and creating a good customer experience. In short, I'm glad I gave this location a shot, because it was amazing! It's located in the Venetian food court downstairs, by the casino. The food court was really busy so it was pretty loud overall. The line looked long, but it moved quickly. We ordered a sandwich, tenders, fries, and banana pudding. The tenders were HUGE! I wish I had known how big they were, because I could only finish 2/3. Flavor was amazing, it was nicely breaded and crispy on the outside while juicy on the inside. The banana pudding was smooth and not too sweet, which made it a really nice complement to their hot chicken. My one regret the last time I visited LA was that I didn't get around to enjoying some hot chicken from Howlin' Ray's at either of their locations. Then, without trying to look for it, I found one in the Venetian, where I was staying, within their small food court by the casinos, which is also home to some other upscale food vendors and a speakeasy. Being that I am a sucker for glorious hot chicken and Howlin' Ray's is raved about, I couldn't resist taking a short break from my conference to enjoy some. And enjoyed the fact that the kitchen turned the orders around quickly. Now, I have had hot chicken from a couple of Dave's Hot Chicken locations and a couple of Hattie B's locations -- granted, I have had hot chicken at some of the more local hangouts in Nashville, but I am getting to it. But from what I have enjoyed so far, Howlin' Ray's brings the heat. They. BRING. The. Heat. First off, their hot chicken is bona fide--excellent crispy skin. Juicy chicken. The spice mix is heavy, flavorful, and on point. They make delicious hot chicken. It's probably the most delectable and delicious hot chicken I have had in my life, and I have usually enjoyed wicked good hot chicken from the places I have frequented outside of one spot in South Florida, which is no longer in business. When you eat their hot chicken, you feel lucky to enjoy each bite of it, allowing you to go to a place of hot chicken purity. However, their heat levels are scorching. If you order the "Hot" heat for either ordering their wings (which I had) or the tenders (which I didn't), you will experience the spicy alchemy that is their heat. Their "Hot" level is a strong litmus test for whether you need to step back to something less hot or put your foot on the heat gas pedal. And the spice and seasoning are really on the chicken and will stick to your fingers, so if you're feeling the heat, you will definitely feel it more once you lick your fingers, which you can't help but do because the flavor is yummy -- no, I didn't eat my fingers. If you think the "Hot" is maybe hotter than not only you anticipated but hotter than you can handle, you will NOT want to order any chicken with the "Xtra-Hot" or infamous (apparently) Howlin' heat level (which is their hottest spice mix). Of course... I have to experience more than one heat level so I had ordered the X-Hot. All I have to say is, F&$%. The "X-tra Hot" heat level with this wing was like an absolute tsunami of heat that rushes at you at 200 miles per hour with a blood red sky and sun blaring at you across the horizon. It is hotter than the hottest levels I have had at Hattie B's or Dave's with their "Shut the Cluck Up" and "Reaper" heat levels. Substantially hotter. I was drinking the two refreshments I had in front of me -- the large water and the other sparkling beverage I ordered, trying to bring to heat levels in my mouth down with the pickles and bread that came with the wings for each heat level. I avoided the bread from the "X-tra Hot" wing when I realized even in the areas where the wing wasn't sitting, the spices from it still sprinkled on the bread and raised the heat level more. The sweat from my forehead and scalp was flowing -- not quite a waterfall but I was feeling it. Needless to say, I didn't try the Howlin' heat level on this initial visit. I probably will whenever I return to Vegas or LA, but do so at your own risk and expense. Because Howlin' Ray's brings it, and they bring it hard. read more

I really do not like spicy chicken and was happy that you can get your chicken "original" meaning NO spice. I ordered one wing, fries and a peach tea. My son accompanied me and ordered his chicken spicy. My son's been to the L.A. location Howlin Ray's and recommended it. We were both satisfied with our chicken order. I love that there's no line. Unfortunately there's also no care for the food which is why nobody's in line for it. Medium spicy sandwich - I can eat super hot. I'm southeast Asian and I eat Thai chili peppers no problem. The sandwich ended up being too hot for me. I thought I may have picked up someone else's order since it definitely didn't feel like a medium. The problem, though was the sandwich was super soggy. It was dripping wet to where the bun fell apart as I was eating. Also the patty was skinny and not crispy. Fries - the inside was so good, but the outside was burnt hard. The couple pieces that were not burnt were extra perfect. If they would just stick to the recipe and cook times, it would be really good. they can't treat this place like fast food or food court. I can't say that I'm a Howlin' Ray's day 1 when they were operating out of a food truck, but I've been going since they first opened their first brick and mortar location in Chinatown. My friends and I spent A LOT of hours waiting in that line. I'm talking waiting 3 to 4 hours, but it was fun. We'd all meet up and hang out in line and shared delicious sandwiches together. In addition to the waiting, my girlfriend at the time and I would drive ALL the way from Anaheim to LA just for Howlin' Ray's. This past weekend I finally got to check out their Vegas location for lunch and it's just as good as home minus the crazy wait times. There was a line, but I think I waited about 15 minutes. I have conquered Howlin' twice and as a spice fiend/addict, let me warn you now: Howlin' is NO JOKE. I have yet to try Howlin+ which is a "secret" spice level. However, if you're like me and like learning things the hard way be prepared to clear out the rest of your schedule for the rest of the day. Howlin' will have your ears ringing in pain, your mouth quivering from pure agony, a sudden episode of uncontrollable hiccups, and your stomach will feel like it's being ripped apart from the inside. 10/10 would do it again. However, for lunch I decided to play it cool and went with just a nice regular Hot which I think would be pretty spicy for a lot of people. Personally it was just right. X-Hot gets into painful territory as well and while it's not nearly as bad as Howlin, it's still pretty painful. Anyway, like I mentioned earlier, it's the same good ol' chicken sando from home. Delicious slaw, buttery bun, perfectly fried/cooked chicken, all creating the most tastiest bites every time you sink your teeth into it. Very balanced. The slaw is vinegar based if I recall correctly, so if you're not a fan of mayo, this is good news for you. The only downer is that they don't offer sides like the mac salad (which I LOVE) or Mario style, or waffles (yet), so just sandos, wings, fries, and tenders for now. We love hot chicken spots but almost are always disappointed with the hype of places everytime we try one. That still did not stop us from checking out Howling Rays for ourselves when we were staying at the Venetian this past weekend. I described to the guy taking my order my heat tolerance (we like it spicy but not nose running) he recommended the medium so we went with that. We ordered the jumbo wings, the chicken sandwich, fries and both sauces, it all came to about $37. Order was ready in about 7 min and we decided to take it up to our room instead of eating it there. We dug right in after getting back and washing our hands. The fries were plentiful, hot and sooo good especially with the sauces! The chicken sandwich was excellent although it was not spicy at all to us. Maybe the coleslaw on top dialed the heat down but I wish I would've got the hot. The jumbo chicken wings are jumbo for real (like wings just aren't supposed to be this big so it made me pause for a sec) lol but I ate one anyways. It was also very good. The best part of this location inside the Venetian food hall is the wait was short lol. I've had them twice in LA and each time there's always a line. Fiance and I were looking for food options that were open later at night as we finished up at a convention nearby. To my surprise I didn't know Howlin Rays was opening in Vegas??? The moment I saw it - I told my fiance we had to go. The place was a little tricky to find honestly. But we just checked the directory in the casino and found our way. I don't know how long this has been open for but I was so happy to see the wait NOT be as long as LA locations! We probably waited like max 20 minutes?? Granted it was like 9pm but still. Food quality tasted the same as LA locations which was amazing. We got a medium sando to share and tasted fresh & delicious. Definitely hit the spot and we were really happy to have gotten to eat Howlin in Vegas. Chicken was tender and juicy for a breast! If you love Howlin or are in Vegas and want the opportunity to try - highly recommend. Medium gives a good little kick that's not too bad. But if you really can't do spicy, country can also be good too. read more

bestt fried chicken place and so happy they opened a vegas location, best option in this food court for sure. i typically get the mild which gets me a little heated but not uncomfortable, once my boyfriend got spicy and teared up so he sticks with medium now lol. one order of fries is shareable for two, and the tenders are such a good size i can get full off just two! their ranch is very herby and the comeback sauce is like a tangier canes sauce. they gave us free honey and while they didnt have anymore stickers (which are fire) they gave me a matchbox! service is fast n the workers are super nice, a fave casual on strip eat! read more

We were excited to try the chicken here and luckily had almost no line. We got the chicken sandwich mild with fries and an order of the tenders medium spice. The portions are enormous. I would say if youre spice adverse, stick with the mild or country (which is the lowest spice level). Medium was actually kind of spicy and salty and I ended up rubbing a lot of the seasoning off. Suffice it to say, we worked up a sweat. I can't imagine safely and happily eating the spicy or howlin' level. The slaw and pickles are a nice way to cut the spice. Overall enjoyed this place and recommend to others looking for spicy chicken. read more

Great flavor and tender chicken! We got the mild tenders and medium wings. Medium was spicy (I can take spicy but it was like the spicy that lingers lol). I think I would try the no spicy chicken next time. I highly recommend the tang sauce (basically ranch and goes really well with the chicken). We tried the comeback sauce but it wasn't as good. The chicken tenders and wings came with 3 large pieces each - very satisfying!! I would come back! This is located in the Venetian food court. read more
