Amazing restaurant in thai town serving home style thai dishes! The inside seats around six tables and it was a bit hard to get parking, but we parked in the alley behind the restaurant - only thing is if someone needs to get out you may need to move your car in the middle of the meal. We ordered a bunch of small dishes and were good for sharing with a group of six. My personal favorite was the pad thai (super flavorful and noodles were perfect, not overly hard or soft, plus had tofu) and shrimp cakes ( crispy and great shrimp taste). The satay was interesting as well - one thing to note is that they used more of the lean part of the meat, so may not be as soft as other restaurants that use dark meat instead. This place absolutely slaps for pad thai. It's nearly impossible to find a flawless execution of pad thai even in the only Thaitown in the US and Pailin is definitely right up there. If you love Thai food and haven't tried this restaurant, you need to go. This was my first time here, and it didn't disappoint. The dishes were excellent and the prices are insanely low. Don't let the parking discourage you. We parked on a side street just behind the restaurant. There were 3 cars and the wait to find parking was no more than 5 minutes. We ordered 8 main dishes, Thai teas, and a few sodas. The bill with tax was $111. And we had leftovers. The only dish that disappointed was the overcooked Chicken Satay. But, it was still flavorful. Everything else did not disappoint. If you go with a someone who is a lightweight on spices, ask for the spicy fish sauce on the side. Great mom-and-pop restaurant. Our go-to Thai spot on Hollywood! The food is incredibly flavorful and the portion sizes are good for the price! It is a small interior but it can make for a bit of a cozy environment when combined with the decorations, given it's not completely packed. So far we've tried the curry, dry hot pot, pad thai, rad na, a bunch of the appetizers. Everything we've had has been amazing! Worth the drive. I seriously had the best salad I've ever eaten, and I eat a lot of salads. The Yum Nua Yang was the perfect mixture. The vinegar in the dressing wasn't too overpowering and helped to neutralize some of the heat from the peppers. The tomatoes, cucumbers were super fresh and the steak was cooked perfect. I will definitely go back for that salad! However, the Chicken pad Thai had what appeared to be a grey color meat which I assume was the chicken and it had tofu?? Wanna know where Thai folks go for good Thai food besides their own kitchen? HERE, lol. Pailin serves up tasty authentic Thai. What is unique about this restaurant is they cover all the regional Thai basics and it's GOOD. A lot of Thai restaurants cover multiple regional "specialty" food, but don't do everything well. My mom eats here weekly and brings me take-out. Some of my trusted Yelp buddies that know good Thai food eats here regularly (you know who you are, lol). It's a hole-in-the-wall type place, and if you don't mind that, it's not a bad place to check out. Personally, I don't come to the actual restaurant often. The area is hectic and sometimes to much traffic for me. I send mom instead, lol. Take-out from here has never been a problem and everything is always good and packaged nicely. read more

Its one of their most popular dishes here. NOODLE pad kee mao beef - this one does get hot, so watch out, its a pepper base rad na - smooth and gravy with real veggies (not that weird american stir fry veggie stuff) DRINKS Thai tea - legit. Love pailin and eat here almost twice a week, always take out. Never eaten in. Once again, if you order other items or eat in, YMMV. IMHO not worth the drive, only eat here if you are local. This is a no frills place that warps you into Thailand. The staff is kind and there are a few tables to eat at. That being said, don't come here expecting to be waited on hand and foot. The servers are nice but, they are busy preparing your food in the back. Everything comes out hot and fresh to order and so it takes some time. They have a small kitchen in the back, but its worth the wait. So be patient, be kind, and just hang out and have fun. You come here for the excellent food and authentic Thai food. I would consider this place an excellent hole in the wall that I can't wait to come back to and will be adding it my list of spots to go to thai-town in LA. 4.5 stars average are you kidding me? I just had thai food here in March 2022 and my goodness it was disgusting. I do have high thai food standards and I don't expect much when a place has $10 entrees, but the thai food here was simply inedible. I got two entrees, tom kha soup and pineapple fried rice. Tom kha is supposed to be hot and sour soup, there's coconut milk in it, so its supposed to be savory. This tom kha was so sour, it was not savory at all, it's almost like you couldn't taste any of the coconut milk in it. The ingredients this place uses are SO CHEAP. There was chicken in the soup, and the chicken was extra chewy, tasted old, tasted awful the chicken. I'm almost certain they used pineapple out of a can to put in the fried rice. Look at my photo, the ingredients look liked canned food! If i wanted canned food I could go to the grocery store. I would not order the anything with chicken here, it is sketchy the chicken they use. With all the good thai food in LA, this place is very very disappointing. My friend and I came here at around 9:30 but there was a closed sign already put up. The hours on the door read that they closed at 9. However, yelp said 10? We were feeling disappointed because he had left another Thai restaurant to come to this one because they had Khao soi. The owner saw us standing outside and motioned us to come in and have a seat. We were relieved! We got a khao soi and papaya salad to share. The Khao soi was amazing in flavor. It reminded me a bit of Tom yum soup but with a spice and a creamy feel to it. The papaya salad was good too, however, they do have the dried shrimp on it which I am not a fan of. It was crunchy and had a kick to it. Best of all, this place is so cheap! However, they are not big portions so I recommend getting your own Khao soi if you are really hungry. I will definitely be back just to have the Khao soi again! read more

We found this place because I needed to get my car detailed nearby and we searched the closest Thai restaurants with good reviews. Pailin popped up and I'm super glad we tried it out! The food was so cheap for the portion we got; the total bill for three entrees and two drinks was only about $30 total. I was amazed because the food quality was really nice too! The pad thai noodles seemed more cooked than other places I've tried but I actually didn't mind it because the noodles soaked up a ton of flavor. Generous portion of shrimp in the pad thai as well. Very cozy spot. I loved their Khao Soi and especially Spicy Catfish. The Khao Soi reminds me of the sea. It's creamy without masking the spices. The catfish has to be the best catfish I've ever had, and by far one of the best things I've tasted. The fragrant sauce, the textural crunch of the exterior, and the buttery, delicate flesh are what makes it so good. Andy is also super accommodating and sweet. We also ordered the BBQ ribs, Beef fried rice, Spicy eggplant, and Pad Thai. All were excellent. You can taste quality. We, three, ordered so much, along with Thai iced teas and an extra helping of rice. We brought home leftovers and an extra order of Khao Soi, yet we still were able to keep it under $100.
