Solid Thai spot! I tried the Pad Kra Pow, Satay Chicken, and Thai tea-- they all tasted good/authentic. I liked the vibe inside--very warm, local vibes. Easy to get to right on Hollywood Blvd.

Everything is so good!! We ordered curry, pad Thai, fried tofu, tom yum fish, and crab cake, no complaints on anything, very authentic. Store is a bit small and "traditional"... Parking in this area is a challenge.... People are friendly after all.

This place absolutely slaps for pad thai. It's nearly impossible to find a flawless execution of pad thai even in the only Thaitown in the US and Pailin is definitely right up there. To be clear everything I've gotten here has been solid I just have been dreaming of the pad thai I had in Bangkok and this is the only place I've been to in LA that comes close. 5 stars!

    Rad-Na, Dry Hot Pot

Our go-to Thai spot on Hollywood! The food is incredibly flavorful and the portion sizes are good for the price! It is a small interior but it can make for a bit of a cozy environment when combined with the decorations, given it's not completely packed. So far we've tried the curry, dry hot pot, pad thai, rad na, a bunch of the appetizers. Everything we've had has been amazing! Also have to mention that the customer service has always been great every time we've come!

It was my first time here because one of my best friends recommended it. We were the first costumers! They happen to be open today on Martin Luther King Holiday! Yay! I ordered the green curry and she had the khao soi, which is a noodle soup. The food came within 10 minutes. I tried both and they were absolutely delish! I would definitely be back, therefore, I highly recommend this place if you're ever in the area OR craving for Thai food! Thank you for a great first experience!

Wanna know where Thai folks go for good Thai food besides their own kitchen? HERE, lol. Pailin serves up tasty authentic Thai. What is unique about this restaurant is they cover all the regional Thai basics and it's GOOD. A lot of Thai restaurants cover multiple regional "specialty" food, but don't do everything well. My mom eats here weekly and brings me take-out. Some of my trusted Yelp buddies that know good Thai food eats here regularly (you know who you are, lol). It's a hole-in-the-wall type place, and if you don't mind that, it's not a bad place to check out. Personally, I don't come to the actual restaurant often. The area is hectic and sometimes to much traffic for me. I send mom instead, lol. Take-out from here has never been a problem and everything is always good and packaged nicely.

Best dishes I've ever had with reasonable prices. Definitely worth multiple visits. Note that this restaurant received cash only.

Had high hopes for this spot! Place is kind of small. Service was nice. But the food just wasn't it. The yellow curry was super runny and liquidy. The meat was a mix of dark and like one piece of white chicken lol. The dark chicken was kind of nasty had I known I would've requested all white. The Tom kha soup was alright. A bit sour for me.

    Cashew chicken was absolutely delicious

Well, I really really liked this place. The cashew chicken was one of the best I've ever had. The chicken satay had a lovely sauce but was a little overcooked. The basil chicken was also delicious... This place will be on my hit list to go to again for sure.. really good food...small place, service was slow but food great...

The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The lunch menu was more affordable but still on the pricey side $21-$32 with add on options. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. The rice was piping hot and the mangos were sweet and soft, drizzled with a generous serving of sweet coconut milk. Personally, the rice was a bit too soft for me and the coconut milk was a tad too sweet, but it still scratched the itch I had for mango sticky rice. I went close to closing so the staff could only offer me takeout, which was fine. They were friendly both over the phone and in-person when I picked up my order. I'm only dinging it a point because of its high(er) price point. I would be down to go back again to try out their entrees next time though!

I felt like I came to eat and my mom's house. They take Debit Card and Apple Pay WITH a pin only. I forgot my wallet and paid with Apple Pay. It did not have a place for tip which made me feel awful. At the end I apologized and she was like "it's ok, next time." And she was genuinely fine with it. She reassured me not to worry about it. So I'm determined to come back to tip her because if anybody deserved a tip it was her. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu- I like to order peanut sauce on the side and the woman found it interesting and struck a non judgmental conversion about it. I could really tell she was genuinely curious. This was my favorite dish. It was good. I also ordered spicy fried rice with tofu and spicy panang curry with vegetables. I chose 4 out of a 6 for spicy and it was not spicy at all for me. The rice was fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad. The panang curry was yummy. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. I ordered a lot of food so I explained to her that I was going to eat some and take the rest to go. When she brought the food she brought it nicely packed without a bag. She also brought me a real plate and utensils to eat here. She let me know that when I was ready she'd bring a bag which I thought was thoughtful. She also made sure to say "take your time, no need to rush. We close at 8" and it was 5pm. Again, it felt genuinely nurturing, she wanted to make sure I felt taken care of and welcomed. It meant a lot because I was frazzled from forgetting my wallet and from having a hard day at work. This was my first time here and it won't be my last. There is a small lot on site. Prices were very reasonable.

I can't believe it's been 12 years--and I'm so happy to say it was every bit as incredible as I remembered. My friend and I came for lunch. I ordered the vegetable pho, and she had the curry rice. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, I wish we had more time because we had another appointment downtown. I would have loved to try more dishes and definitely dessert! Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. He checked on us at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. The service was as impressive as the food. The restaurant has such a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful ceramic water cups with bird designs--they were so unique and charming. Even the water tasted wonderful! I'm thrilled that Au Lac is still thriving after all these years. If anything, the food tasted even better than I remembered. I certainly won't wait another 12 years before coming back. In fact, I was so impressed that I convinced my husband to come with me next Saturday for dinner! I've tried many vegan restaurants over the years, and Au Lac remains my absolute favorite. My favorite on the Westside is Variable Café, but if you're willing to drive a little farther, Au Lac is on another level. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.
