One of my favorite restaurants In the entire Las Vegas area great service, exceptional food, and always fun. Check out that salad cart!!

Sadly, this place has gone downhill. Last time I was there in 2021, it was phenomenal! Last week, it was a night and day difference. My steak was extremely tough, way overcooked and the crab claws that accompanied it were old and on the verge of bad. Service was just ok. Everyone seemed burnt out and miserable, mostly the salad guy. Too bad, Vegas has too many options for me to eat at this establishment again. What an experience! And it was an entire dining experience, not just the food, and the food was tremendous. Our party had ribeye, prime rib, veal Oscar, and filet mignon. The table prepared salad was great, and I'm not a salad eater. Our meals came out perfectly prepared. The meal comes with potatoes and the salad, something that isn't the usual in this day in age. For dessert, we had a variety of things, including the chocolate covered strawberries, which also come with the meal. But the highlight was the table prepared Bananas Foster. Hugo's is a must when you're near/staying downtown. The bartender Dean is a total gem and one of the main reasons we keep going back. You need to have him make you a martini, any martini. It's going to be great. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. John the sommelier is also amazing, and very knowledgeable. read more

5 star food options. 3 star service. 2 star ambiance. We had friends recommend this restaurant and they said it was a small intimate place. We found it to be large and loud. Maybe it was the night we went? Don't go wanting a glass of champagne. There is only one option. They have a sommelier, I am sure they can help with red or white. We were a party of two, with reservations, sat next to 2 parties of 6. How great it would be to sit in an area of parties of 2. Everyone around us we really enjoying themselves. There does not seem to be a dress code. The rose for the lady upon arrival was nice. The menu options are vast and you have high hopes of a great meal. Escargot were served with a pastry top with cheese. Odd, but the husband liked it. The mini shrimp should be removed from all options due to the fact they cannot, were not, deveined. The table side salad had a great number of options. Have a good time with them! Although the scallops were served with potatoes, that was a first, you can option for rice, they were tasty. Will have to remember that if we return. To round out the meal, the chocolate covered strawberries and fig with whip cream was nice but white chocolate is not my thing. Strawberry was very good. When we walked in, my wife and daughter each received a long-stem rose. Ordered drinks and they are generous with them, they give you a craft of ice after they pour your drink so you have a 2nd drink that is chilled for one price. The food was delicious, my son's steak was ordered medium rare and it came out rare. The waiter was busy and never checked on us after we had dinner delivered. (This is the only complaint we had, that is why I can't give 5 stars) He apologized and said he had a large table and was unable to check on us in a timely manner. The salads were great and were made at our table, and we liked the sorbet and strawberries after each serving. Prices are higher, but they are everywhere. We have been to this restaurant many times....typically great! This time it was not great! The wine was fantastic the 160.00 crab legs were "just OK" they were Luke warm and dry. my wife's steak was terrible! They tried to fix it by replacing it... nice gesture, but the replacement was just as bad. They had a group of golfers that were loud and annoying (not something under Hugo's control.... We made a reservation at Hugo's because we'd read their bananas foster was the best. We had planned to order that and cocktails to celebrate my sisters birthday. Imagine our surprise when our waiter finally arrived at our table and informed us they do not allow people to only order dessert. If that is this restaurant's policy, fine. It's perfectly within their right to have the policy. But publish it somewhere visible. The entire reason we traveled downtown was to go have bananas foster at Hugo's. I invited my son on his birthday for dinner at Hugos! It was his first time & my 2nd but my first time was more than 25 yrs ago, I've always raved about it! From the moment we checked in till the moment we left, we were genuinely treated as very valued guests. My son had what he described as the best crab leg dinner, which he truly enjoyed all the flavors, I had the duck, oh so delightfully delicious! I absolutely love Hugo's Cellar. This is an old school steakhouse that offers great service and yummy food. If you're a fan of old Vegas, you'll love the atmosphere here. Another plus is the pricing. Steakhouses usually are a la carte, which can get super pricey. At Hugo's you get a lot included with your meal. I ordered the filet mignon for $59. It came with a salad (made at the table), mashed potatoes, veggies and a little dessert platter. (Chocolate covered fruit and whipped cream) I've always had great service at Hugo's! Everyone is super friendly and I have never had any complaints. When you're greeted at the hostess stand, you're given a rose...such a nice touch! It's little things like this that set Hugo's apart from the steakhouses on the strip. If you park in the Four Queens garage, Hugo's will stamp your parking ticket, which will make parking free! read more

The best part of this 1960's Rat Pack hangout is our sommelier who has seen it all for 39 years. He was courtly, knowledgeable and gave us some fascinating stories. The ladies received a long stem red rose and our table side salad was quite good. The food is not why you would make the trip. Our friends who have not experienced Fremont street rounds out their Vegas adventure. Downtown is a better gaming experience than the strip and the guys learned to play craps. A classic Las Vegas experience! Been coming to Hugo's Cellar for 35+ years, and have never been disappointed! Table service is exceptional, staff is always on point. This time we had the Bourbon and Maple Syrup duck, and Salmon. Everything prepared perfectly. Table side salad was excellent. Raspberry sorbet was good...I miss the lemon sorbet personally. No pressure to buy alcohol at all, but they have a terrific wine selection and sommelier. Always a great, romantic evening. read more

I thought our meal here was okay, but overpriced. For the quality of the cuts and the way they cooked the steaks, I felt a bit gouged. This cellar is located in the basement of the Four Queens Casino on Fairmont Street in Vegas. I got a New York Strip, medium rare, it came back overcooked, in my opinion. I'm not gonna send it back, but eh... It lacked flavor, and had more fat than I'd expect in a fine steakhouse. It just wasn't the best cut of meat. It's hard to tell exactly how cooked something is in this steakhouse, since it's so dark here. Seriously, it's dim here. The mashed potatoes were lacking any real character. They seem like something you might get in a cafeteria. The asparagus was crisp and cooked perfectly, one of the better parts of the meal. My favorite part of the meal is when they bring out the bread, the butter looks like a rose. Nice. Speaking of, they give the ladies a rose when you check in. Like you're supposed to hold on to it while you're chowing down on steaks. Classy. The salads are made table side, which they make a production of, where they heap on all the ingredients from a little cart and toss your salad right there in front of you. The staff was fantastic- they did a great job of keeping us fed and happy. Our drinks never went empty. This restaurant's vibe is just kinda tired and old, like they've been doing the same thing to tourists for decades and decades. You can sense the history of this place, that it must've been glorious back when they originally put the carpeting and fixtures in during the fifties or something. It's got that retro charm that Freemont offers that the Strip doesn't have. read more

We had planned on visiting Hugo Cellar with a group of co-workers that had gone to Vegas for the weekend. We decided to splurge [we can all splurge every once in a while] and enjoy this fine dinner. Splurge is the the best word to describe this place and not just because of the prices. The treatment is superior to your standard night out. First the girls were presented with a rose. The host was very cordial and gives you some of the long history that Hugo Cellars has enjoyed. You can imagine Sinatra, Dean Martin and many of those personalities sitting in the same seat you may have sat tonight. To start a Sommelier came to see about our wine list. Pretty simple so the girls got a bottle of white while I preferred a glass of red with my dinner. Rest of the boys had drinks. We ordered our dinner as baskets of bread and butter were put on our table. Our waiter explained that the meals here are NOT al carte. It includes salad, the meal and dessert. As soon as we had ordered our meals the second waiter [we had two] came over and prepared our salads for us right at the table. Each of us got to pick our items which I was glad because some of the members of our group hardly put anything while I put in almost everything, including some anchovies. As soon as our salads were done, they came out with some small cones of lemon sorbet to cleanse the palate. Dinner came out and it was prepared excellently. My beef wellington was super tender and delicious. I think we all had the garlic mashed potatoes which was a great choice. My wife and daughter ordered the rib-eye and both looked at the their dinners at the end of the meal and realized that they should have shared. Neither got to half their steak. Some guy on Fremont Street asked for some change and got about $80 in food. Its Vegas Baby! After the meal, some desserts were brought out at no charge, they included some chocolate covered straweberries, some dried apricots dipped on a bed of chocolate and baby figs with some whip cream. But they also brought some upscale desserts that looked great but we were all stuffed. They added 18% gratuity because we had a group of 7 which makes it easier anyways but if there was one complaint was that I handed the waiter $200 and put the rest of the groups meal on my credit card. There were some incorrect charges on my card as part of the cash was used to increase the tip. Don't know where the mistake happen so when I saw my bank statement I was preparing for a fight but the GM Richard said he would call me back the next day and he did just as he had promised. He was polite and resolved the issue quickly. read more

Hugo's has done it again!! Went here for my husband's birthday a couple of days ago & they knocked it out of the park! Best hidden gem in Vegas! I got the 10 oz NY Strip & my husband got the 16 oz ribeye. Both dishes were amazing! I love the small touches that they have like giving you a lemon cello sorbet to cleanse your pallet before the main course, giving ladies roses when you walk in, hot towel to cleanse your hands before dessert, etc. it's the attention to detail that makes this place so amazing! The sommelier is not to be forgotten! He made my husband feel so special on his birthday & is always such a pleasure to be around! Spent a most enjoyable evening at Hugo's Cellar with an old friend from out of town. I was instantly impressed by the classy, old skool Vegas Vibe. Right off the bat the host was so friendly and what lady doesn't love getting a rose to take to the vase on your table! Our waitress was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable on all things Hugo's. I started with their specialty Manhattan which was the smoothest I've ever had. They even give you some for later on ice on the side. We started off with the shrimp cocktail and then had the legendary table-side salad. After the salad they gave us a miniature cone of raspberry sorbet to cleanse the palate. We split the rib eye which they charge a split fee but it is because they give you each you own plate of the fresh veggie, mushrooms and potato or wild rice option. I will definitely be going back to Hugo's and recommending it to others as well! I can't wait to go back! OH and they even validate for parking = Win Win! read more

This review is not based on a dinning experience but truly a Customer Service review. It was my parents 40th wedding anniversary and we would not be dinning with them. But, in contacting Hugo's cellar we were working with the maitre'd on taking car of the bill prior to it being presented as a gift to my parents. The maitre'd notified us that their had been a request to cancel the reservation but my parents were instructed to call after 4pm when someone from the restaurant would be available. The maitre'd took my contact info as they did not want to leave credit card info laying around in the event of the cancellation. The maitre'd contact my parents directly due to the notation and then called me right away to inform me. Service like this is rare and unheard of Hugo's Cellar will be our first stop next time in Vegas!!! read more

Table side salad is the bomb. All our entrees were prepared to perfection. The inclusive sides were very good and portions generous. The only disappointment besides the undercooked carrot was the smoke from the casino that drifted in. Great place, lots of ambiance. Service was very attentive. read more

I can't believe I forgot to review this gem. EXCELLENT experience every single time. Beef Wellington is AMAZING. This is one of my favorites. Crab Cake are AMAZING. He enjoyed his lamb and said it was really tasty. The sweet treat was finger liking. I would have taken photos but didn't want to ruin the moment. What a contrast from the lunacy of Fremont Street and the over drinking lecherous men drooling over mostly naked (electrical tape over nipples) street performing gals. This place exudes timeless class with the unspoken history of old Vegas and the nuevo rich ingrained in every chair and table. You just know or can imagine the ghosts of old Vegas still hovering about. They loved it, I did and you will too. Highly recommend the NY Sirloin Strip 16 oz of cooked perfection ordered medium pink through and as full as I was I absolutely was compelled to eat it all. I ate all the delicious garlic mashed and oh man the grilled vegetable medley of mushrooms, asparagus and string beans was terrific. I couldn't stop. The salad made table side by Geraldo our waiter was also a standout. Enjoyed his confidence and delightful banter. The little touches like the mini raspberry sorbet cone palette cleanser presented after salad and before the main, the chocolate covered strawberries and carnalized dates for desert stood out. The chocolate cake we added for even more desert was very good not the best ever but LOL not complaining. My Sierra Nevada IPA paired perfectly with the meal. I am not going to rehash what 1000 others have written. I have other reviews to write. Suffice to say from the moment we walked in we felt blessed and special to be here and the restaraunt fulfilled all its promises. Best servers I have had in years. Consummate professionals who have been plying thier craft for over 20 years, some 30! I dont know how they could be better. I dont know how this meal and experience could have been better. What a time! The old timey, classic bourbon vibe of this joint really set the stage. It felt like the Rat Pack would scurry out from the baseboards at any moment. Hugo cellar is a Vegas classic and has always been rumored to be a great steakhouse. Well maybe back in the day. My husband and I decided to finally give it a shot. The entrance is cute and they give the lady a rose upon arrival. It has an older look which is fine. As soon as we sat down though it felt noisy, crowded and we rushed. Although it felt rushed we didn't feel like we were paid much attention to. They forgot my husband espresso martini so by the time he got it the espresso shots seemed dead, no espresso foam and tasted just ok. We then ordered wine, the woman that got our wine for us was great she was the only one that seemed calm and not rushed in the restaurant. We ordered the mushroom caps which were delicious to start. We then had the table side salad and I felt like I was at a Jason's deli ordering my salad and felt very rushed in the process. We then ordered our main courses. I had the petite filet which came with green beans and potatoes and my husband had a New York with same sides. It was good, cooked as ordered. We did finish with the bananas foster which was our favorite part, it was incredible. Our server and our guy that made the salad and dessert didn't ask if our food was okay until we were almost finished with the main meal. They seemed distracted and we felt a bit ignored. For the price of the meal and experience in our opinion it was not worth it. We tried but more than likely won't go back (mayyybe just for the dessert). Too many other steakhouse options in Vegas that are way better for the same price range and better food too. read more

The service and ambiance was excellent. Gene did an excellent job preparing and presenting our tableside salads. The ingredients were fresh and the creamy pepper dressing was very tasty! (Don't get the Caesar dressing unless you really like anchovy ). Smaller cuts of meat would have been nice (90-year old mother-in-law didn't really want 16 oz.!). The bread basket was incongruent with the atmosphere. In fact, don't bother. The most disappointing aspect was quality of the sides (carrots, broccolini, garlic mashed, and fingerlings) were less than 1 star. The potatoes were old and cold, the broccolini wilted, and the carrots were rock hard. We felt if you're not going to match the quality of the sides with the main entree then why even bother?! For the high price and low quality we would not recommend. read more

What an amazing and delectable experience at Hugo's! I am STILL talking about the tableside salad (so fresh and delicious). Also, as someone who prefers her steak Medium Well/Well (yeah, yeah, I know - please save your cries of outrage, I genuinely enjoy it), I am used to being disappointed or frustrated by the temperature, or having to battle with the servers/chefs, but not in this instance! My steak was cooked PERFECTLY and I absolutely devoured it. I loved the ambiance and experience of the entire evening, with the roses for women, the sunken-living-room-style seating, and the multiple servers per section. I'm also amazed by the amount of food we got for the price, including the chocolate covered strawberries at the end of the meal. Will absolutely return (and thanks to our bartender on the High Roller for recommending it!). read more

"You're taking me on a romantic date, and the only planning I'm doing is buying a cute new dress." It was my birthday weekend and I wanted a great meal at a nice place next to my favorite person. He immediately made reservations at Hugo's cellar. And I'm so glad he did. It's intimate and old vegas. The service is UNMATCHED. David and Michael were our servers and they were phenomenal. That place operates like a well oiled machine. The food was delicious, you practically had to roll me out of there. We had the duck, and a New York strip, table side salad, and shrimp cocktail. Everything was thought out, even to the cloth wrapped lemons to keep the seeds from getting in your food. Their drinks are perfect and the atmosphere is perfect for a date. read more

So if you have an idea in your head of an old Vegas steak house this is what you are after. The old school table side presentation of the salad cart as well as bananas foster and cherries jubilee are dying amenities in this world. Their beef was actually prime a well prepared. I do have to admit that I was disappointed in the escargot because they were tough and the sauces as they were over powering and very thick.
