I am so happy that Hui Lau Shan opened a new location within Milpitas Square Plaza! I always get their $14 J2: Jumbo Pomelo & Mango with Sago and $9 C8: Coconut Jelly with Mango. I've tried their watermelon desserts in the past and liked it as well but definitely enjoy their mango desserts much more. Once you place your order with the staff at the counter, you wait until your number appears at the corner of the counter to pick up your order. What I love is the combination of mango, coconut, and QQ taste and texture of the jellies. There are indoor and outdoor seating. Service has always been respectful and nice so far. The ambiance is also pleasant and typical from what you'd expect from a dessert store. read more

I purchased two orders of mango & coconut with sago drink (D4) with my wife after lunch and I was a little surprised at how bad it tasted? The mango themselves were sour and the coconut itself in the drink was literally frozen? Geez guys, don't just take stuff from the fridge and drop them in my drink when I'm paying $7 for each of this? I have had drinks with Hui Lau Shan at many other locations and this was probably by far the worst experience. The staff really needs to be retrained on frozen items not being okay to serve to customers straight out of the freezer. The look inside is pretty typical, a lot of kids enjoying their drinks while people standing to wait on their drinks. The furniture is pretty standard and nothing real unique but then you really aren't here for that anyway. It was a little disappointing, I will have to think twice before checking this location out again! read more

Finally got to try this yesterday and it's so delicious! I've heard so many great things about this place from friends and didn't have a chance to try it till recently. We grabbed the mango chewy ball bowl and the mango/watermelon coconut jelly bowls. The mango was very sweet and ripe so everything was on the extra sweeter side, just keep that in mind! All of the items were easy to transport and eat with friends. We decided to share everything and it was the perfect amount of dessert for our group of 4. This Hui Lau Shan location is in the Milpitas Square. This is pretty busy plaza, especially on weekends and weeknights, so parking may be a bit difficult. Not much service - I ordered at the front counter with the employee, she was not that friendly / welcoming and she was also not that familiar with their menu. I ordered the Mango Chewy Ball. When I had it at their other locations, I felt like there were more of the chewy balls than the 8 - 9 pieces in my order at this location. I felt like the mango ice cream and mangoes were not that sweet either - the ice cream was a bit icy and the mangoes were not as juicy / sweet. Overall, this is a new location, so hopefully it will get better with time, but I do enjoy this particular dessert choice best at their Cupertino location over their other locations in the Bay. read more

Glad to see that there is another Hui La Shaun more central to Milpitas rather than driving to the Cupertino location as well as the Valley Fair one too. They had a soft opening from 3/1- 3/30 where they gave 10% off to every order. The menu was also smaller but did open their whole menu once they were in grand opening. The store itself is pretty small compared to the other one but had more seating. There is always outdoor seating too that they have. The staff were very nice and attentive that helped with the menu. Seems a little more expensive than the Cupertino location. But definitely bigger place and more convenient since it's closer to home. They don't have pagers here unlike the Cupertino one so gotta save your receipt and listen for your number. Everyone is friendly and service is pretty quick. Their mango is the same. Oh if you want your items to go with a bag, they charge extra also. Cupertino gives complimentary bags. I guess this franchise is different. read more

This place is mango paradise. Everything on the menu is mango flavored! Well, minus the watermelon drink I had . Its a cute little shop thats only a 10 min walk from the main UC Berkeley campus, and its a straight shot. Space is a bit small and accommodates only a handful of high chairs so definitely consider ordering to go. We got the mango & mango, along with the watermelon aloe vera and was pleasantly surprise how refreshing both were. I say pleasantly because by a huge surprise it tasted non artificial. Like there was legit real watermelon chunks in my drink and mango bits in my girlfriends. It tasted just like the real thing! They also had rice desserts that I wanted to try, so I got the Purple Sweet Potato Osmanthus Rice Mochi. One of the newer hui Lao Shan locations in the South Bay and it's located in the Asian foodie hotspot of the Milpitas center. Our go to is the mango pomelo sago in the bowl & drink form. I also got a side of the chewy balls to add in. Prices are pretty high , but it's uniquely put together that create an explosion of mango flavor. This Hong Kong dessert place combines textures and favors to create a memorable dessert experience imo. With how expensive everything is and being a frequent customer, I do wish in the future that this company creates a loyalty reward program to incentivize returning customers. Since there was a line there was a little bit of a wait for our orders to come out. They call out your order numbers and that's how you know it is ready after placing your order at the cashier and getting receipt with an order number. Came here twice in a week (on a Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon). It wasn't too busy on Tuesday evening, but there were a few people sitting at the tables, but on Saturday there was a line and all the tables were taken. The mango mochis here are a must! They're nice and soft, and have a piece of fresh mango inside. The other item I liked are the durian pancakes. There was a decent amount of actual durian inside the pancakes so it wasn't just filled with whipped cream. The other items were nice and the fruit seems really fresh. Would definitely recommend! Was recently reminded how much I loved the drinks and mango mochi here and wondered why I ever stopped coming here for dessert. We got the pomelo mango sago drink, mango mochi and coconut jello with black rice. All was so so good. My favorite is the mango mochi. We only had a pc each and kept the leftovers in the fridge and it was still as bouncy and chewy with freshness in the mango as the day before. The container gave us 3 full days of desserts. When mango season is in full swing, it is a must to stop by Hui Lau Shan because the desserts are even sweeter and more delicious! I love the thick jelly texture of many of their desserts and how they are never skimpy with their toppings. I'm more of a drink than a pudding person so I always get a drink here, but it is always fantastic, especially with coconut jelly or juice.
