I've been to Humble Bee twice for brunch, most recently this morning. The first time I visited I was excited to find a new brunch spot in the valley, and I remember above all else that the latte was delicious. I ordered the panwich (eggs and turkey sausage rolled inside a plate-sized pancake and topped with maple mascarpone and julienned apples), and substituted a gluten-free pancake. The mascarpone and apple topping were really good, but the gluten-free pancake was dry. It's difficult to make good gluten substitutes so I gave it a pass and came back again this morning to try something else from their menu. Unfortunately the food was just okay again. There was a delay with my order so they brought pastries, and while one was delicious (a cherry turnover), the chocolate croissant was hard, not buttery and difficult to pull apart. I ordered the English butty this time, an easy egg, turkey sausage and cheddar on a house-made English muffin. The English muffin was nice on its own, but the sandwich as a whole was dry. The egg was cooked through so maybe if it had been over easy it would've helped, but additionally it needed some sort of sauce (maybe HP sauce or aioli?). Even the cheese was overcooked and hard, so I ended up pulling the whole thing apart and eating bits of egg and sausage with hot sauce. Overall I'd come back for an espresso drink and a turnover, maybe in the early afternoon when it's less busy, but wouldn't eat here for brunch again. read more

I came here with a couple of friends and immediately when we walked through the door, it was a nice ambiance but also a bustling cafe. The look of the restaurant is very quaint and almost like a hole in the wall. They have outdoor seating that was covered by umbrellas which is nice for a warm day. The food is absolutely delicious, I got one of their vegan options; the tofu scramble. It is made up of curried tofu, zucchini, bell peppers, spinach, & onions in a pesto sauce and comes with herbed potatoes as well as arugula topped with chunky salsa. It was a very filling portion I must add, not too heavy as well since we went for the breakfast session. My friends ordered the humble burrito substituted with tofu as well as the caprese omelette which they also enjoyed. The service is really nice. We were greeted by a nice man who took us to our table and got us glasses of water right when we sat down. He was attentive to our table and came around asking if we would like more water multiple times and asked about any specifications/allergies. It was greatly appreciated regarding the question with allergies since I normally mention it myself. The parking situation can be a little sticky. It is along a relatively busy street and the parking lot is quite small for the number of businesses in that center. In the morning that we went, it was quite calm and not at all crowded. There was barely any parking so I had to park on the street and walk about 3min which I didn't mind b/c I wanted to get my steps in, but still would be nice if they had more parking. Ended up sitting on the 2 seater since I was meeting up with a friend. I ended up getting the English Butty and shared the Stuffed French Toast with my friend. It took like 40min to get our food. The waitress did let us know that they got a lot of phone orders so that's why it was taking a while to get our food to us. It was nice of the waitress to have done so but still I'm like I don't really care about that I just want my food. It was the hangry in me saying that lolol Anyway, the English Butty was really good. The whole meal felt really light in a good way. I didn't feel stuffed. I felt healthy. I don't like cabbage at all but the pickled cabbage was good as well. It didn't taste like cabbage...duh bc it's pickled. It really went well with the arugula. The Stuffed French Toast was delicious. It was the right amount of sweet. I love anything sweet and felt that this dish was perfect. The fruits, whipped cream, cream cheese, maple syrup, and French toast...great combo. Humble bee has become my new favorite restaurant. Everything I've had has been delicious. The French toast is incredible with the best maple syrup I have had in a long time. The bacon is top-notch, and I highly recommend the potatoes! I also really like their tuna melt. They have the best hot chocolate for the colder days, and a luscious carrot OJ juice for the hot days. Occasionally, it can be a little on the loud side, so I recommend, finding a table in an non-busy section of the restaurant if you want to talk. The service has been mostly exceptional! It was my first choice of restaurant to visit on my birthday, and it didn't disappoint. There is ample parking in the back of the building which you can get to from an alleyway behind Saticoy. I knew nothing about this place prior to today. Went for breakfast on a lark and got the ham and cheese omelet. I was expecting mediocre diner ham--you know, the usual uninspired, flavorless, overly salty ham. I was *delightfully* surprised that the ham they use is very nicely smoked. Rich and delicious! I also got their homemade English muffin on the side. I was expecting something more like the standard light Thomas's muffin, but theirs was dense and more hockey-puck like. I approached it with a bit of side-eye, but again was super pleased, because it was delicious! Chewy, yeasty and fantastic! Definitely going back for this meal combo. My sister had the biscuits and gravy brekkie. I snagged a bite and it too was delicious! Their homemade habanero hot sauce is also very tasty. Tart, spicy and unique. Went during the week and luckily we found parking right in front of the restaurant. It seems like parking would be a problem during their busy times. We were sat immediately & noticed the table wasn't wiped down. She brought the menus & those weren't any cleaner. I thought it was just our table but when another customer came in he brought up the same issue asking if his table could be wiped down. The drinks were good the food was nothing to rave about in my POV. I have been a vegetarian for years and I've never had tofu scramble this amazing. The buttermilk homemade biscuit? Should be on your list of last things to eat before you go to the other side. The servers are friendly and warm you will find no attitude here. Had a delicious, hearty brunch at Humble Bee that I'd def order again. I ordered a gluten free pancake sandwich with sausage, scrambled egg whites & a dollop of mascarpone cheese. Yum! The service was very nice and even their concerted outdoor seating in the parking lot was charming. Still trying to eat outdoors due to covid so appreciate that they're still maintaining their outdoor seating options. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that there are very limited gluten free options and they don't allow any menu substitutions. I have been here a handful of times before and generally enjoyed it despite the food being a little overpriced. Today, I brought my parents here since they were visiting LA and our experience has left them with more ammo to mock these types of restaurants in California. It wasn't really busy when we sat for breakfast. We were promptly greeted and our order taken. 20 minutes later (yes!) the waitress came back and said she could see us staring at the kitchen and assured us our food would be up. While we were waiting, we saw only one set of plated food come out of the kitchen. The rest were to go orders. Three minutes later, only 3 of our 4 meals came. Five minutes later, the male kitchen expo came to the table to apologize and said the missing dish would be coming. 10 minutes after that, they delivered it. It's not only unacceptable we had to wait 25 minutes for breakfast dishes in a non-full restaurant, but it took ANOTHER 15 minutes for a missing dish to come. After eating, we waited ten minutes for our check. The poor waitress asked if we wanted pastries, we said no, we were full. The check came, and I was surprised they didn't discount or remove the breakfast dish we waited 40 minutes for. They did however, bring over two plated desserts and asked for our forgiveness on the delay. This actually annoyed me even more. 1. We said we were full and wanted the check. Full means I can't fit more food in my stomach. Don't bring dessert. 2. It's 11AM. Why on earth do I want carrot cake and chocolate cupcakes as an appeasement? 3. I am allergic to cinnamon, clove and allspice. The carrot cake is worthless to us. For a restaurant that seems to prioritize the customer and their food sensitivities, this felt very insensitive. 4. This unwanted gesture doesn't erase the fact we paid $90 for four meals, where one person at our table had to watch us eat an entire meal, then we had to sit and watch them eat an entire meal. read more

Delicious, chubby, fluffy pancakes; even my 8yo loved them! Went a few months ago & Got the pumpkin pancakes with a latte. My son ordered plain pancakes with the berries and syrup on the side. The pumpkin pancakes were so delicious! They were fluffy dense and tasted great. Had a nice glob of soft butter and sugary pecans on top. Definitely recommend them. My son loved the pancakes with syrup and fruits on the side. It's a cute little place with a handful of tables outside and a bunch inside, cute decorations and they also have stickers and candles for sale by the counter.
