What an enjoyable experience from beginning to end. It is on a busy street with limited parking in the lot but there is plenty of street parking. I came on a Saturday and it wasn't too crowded When I walked up, I was immediately greeted. The hostess accommodated the rest to sit outside. We were promptly given menus. The waitress was kind and patient. My mother did not know what to get because she couldn't eat eggs. Zoe, our server, took the time to recommend several items on the menu until she settled on the Tofu scramble. She must have loved it because she ate every last bite! I got the pouched pear French Toast. It was sweet and delicious! I even had left overs! The vibe is so calm and rustic that it feels like I am eating in a friend's backyard. There are plants and flowers everywhere. There is an inside and also a patio. It can get loud outside with motorcycles if that bothers you but I liked sitting outside. Solid brunch location with great food and service! It's a small place with some tables inside, covered outside and a patio in the parking lot. They've done a great job decorating the patio so you forget you're sitting in a parking lot outside. It's also dog friendly so I love coming here for weekend brunches with the pooches. I love to write great reviews by being in the food industry . However somethings just shouldn't happen. I went on a very busy day so it took me 45 minutes to get my breakfast. That's totally fine. They're busy I get it. But I had asked for some more butter and they brought me probably about a tablespoon more of butter and then the Server brought our check and they charged us for butter? WHAT!! Yes, I asked if I could have more butter. It was a tiny little bit. And if they have to charge for butter, that would be fine. However, the Server should've told us before she brought it she should have said -There's gonna be a surcharge for butter .Then it would've been my option if I wanted to go ahead with it or not. Found this place on here wanted to try something new and let me tell you perfect chose. I ordered garden omelette and it was freshly made with fresh veggies. It came with potatoes which was little undercooked to me but had nice seasoning and fresh made salsa which was amazing. I also got their famous drip coffee it was ok not that strong and did not have reach coffee taste that I like. I also got peach cobbler French toast and omg I could not stop eating it. The best one I have had. My husband ordered English butty and he loved it specially the English muffin that was freshly made. I normally don't like English muffins but I loved this one. This place made this sauce that was to die for it was so good I had to buy a bottle to take home. The place is kind of small so if it gets too packed you might wait but we did not have a wait time. I no longer live in the area, so getting to Humble Bee is an absolute treat when it happens. The food quality is incredible, and the staff is excellent. I don't have an extended knowledge of the menu, but here's why: BEST HOLLANDAISE SAUCE IN THE VALLEY!!! I'm a fan of all kinds of Hollandaise, whether it's legit Hollandaise or just a lemon gravy. The Eggs Benedict they have on offer on the weekends is next level. I prefer the sausage to the ham for this dish, but I'm telling you, the Hollandaise is nothing short of extraordinary. The side of potatoes becomes just another vessel for which to shovel extra Hollandaise down your gullet. I must give props to their tasty baked sweets as well. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!! Cute brunch spot nestled in a hole in the wall a couple miles from Lake Balboa. Thought I was going to love this place until the end of our meal. Parking is tight - small spaces in the lot, and very limited street parking. We got there a little after opening, and were able to snag a spot right in front. I can imagine parking being an issue if it were any busier. Inside is very cute and spacious - the all wood decor makes it feel very homey. I literally had the same chairs in my childhood home. They have outdoor seating and two rooms for inside seating. It got quite loud in the main room, but I overheard patrons mention the smaller, second room was much quieter. Service was a little lacking. There were two servers running around, and a couple other workers that just seemed to be hanging out. Not sure what they were doing, but it wasn't much. Took a very long time just to receive water and utensils. Many patrons were coming up to the register because they didn't want to wait any longer to pay. Food was pretty good! They have a couple limited time dishes, as well as a set menu of options they regularly serve. Their menu was a little confusing to navigate - at first it looks like all the food options are on the front page and drinks are on the back; however, there's about three more food options that carry over on the top of the back page. There's not a clear indication of where the food options end and where drinks start, so we almost missed the rest of the menu on the back. Not a complaint, but they should consider a more obvious page break for the ease of customers. When we finally got our orders in, the food came out relatively fast. The blonde woman who dropped off our food was not our waitress, and definitely wasn't going to pretend she was. We wanted ketchup and hot sauce, but she abruptly left our table before we could request any. The encounter was very rude. Our waitress saw that our food was delivered, and immediately went over to ask if we needed any condiments. Grateful our waitress came to help, but the other blonde woman shouldn't have bothered. Now comes the most unappetizing part of our experience. When the bill came and we saw the break down, our breakfast options were priced higher than what was stated on the menu. On the menu, both our breakfasts were priced at $19.75, but on the bill they were itemized as $20.54 and $20.02. When we asked why there was an up charge, our waitress said it was the sales tax; however, the 9.5% sales tax was separated at the bottom of the receipt. I pointed that out, and she confusingly asked us to wait. She left for a couple seconds, and then came back and said it was a 3% surcharge for not using cash. That also didn't make sense because why would a 3% surcharge on two items priced the same come out at two different prices? And why isn't the 3% surcharge disclaimed anywhere on the menu or at the register? Why did they assume we weren't going to pay in cash, and apply the surcharge before payment? What if we did pay in cash, and didn't notice the already-applied surcharge? At this point, I didn't want to argue and paid for our meal. But the whole sneaky up-charges really left a bad taste in my mouth. I would love to come back since the food was good and the ambiance was pleasant, but the sneaky fees make me pause. I don't want to feel like I am getting ripped off and have to double check my bill every time, and wouldn't recommend Humble Bee for that experience alone. read more

When you walk in you're greeted by a clean, nice spacious area. It's not too cramped and every table has its own space. The employees are very friendly and accommodating to all our requests, is there were a few things we needed fixed like a room temperature coffee and more napkins. Both were solved quickly and efficiently. Now for the food, we ordered the berry short stack, subbed for gluten free pancakes (and additional 2 dollar charge) and the chilaquiles. Both were good portion; big enough to share, a little on the pricey side, but not expensive. The pancakes were amazing, a definite recommendation to anyone on a gluten free diet, they were soft and moist, a rare find in brunch places not specialized in gluten free foods. The chilaquiles were also very good, although not as hot as I would preferred, as the bottom layer of beans was cold. The drinks were pretty small for the price but I was assured they are all house squeezed so the quality was top notch. Overall a very good experience and I plan to return soon. read more

I was wondering why my kids are not killing the pancake, despite of their hunger. I tried it myself because they said they were done with the plates still with a lot of pancakes. I tried it and it tasted like wheat. I think they use wheat flour. The maple syrup was too sweet for my kids liking and mines as well. Not a hit. The eggs ben is not a hit either. But don't let the outside appearance put you off... the menu, service, and food quality are quite high. I selected the Humble Bee for this morning's date with my blushing bride because features organic and healthy food, which she prefers. As always, she chose the vegetable omelette. I chose the ham and cheese omelette. Both came with potatoes. The best description I can give is "real food cooked right"... and in this case it included seasoning. It constantly frustrates me when food is not seasoned and bland; Humble Bee knows how to season their food just right and present it in a very appetizing manner! Service... impeccable. Came in on a Sunday and it was rather hectic with the brunch crowd. Super cute inside with a very friendly staff. The layout for the restaurant is a little tricky as they have the hostess area in the corner and it's hard to get to when busy. Went with the eggs benny with ham and it was five stars. The hollandaise sauce was top notch. Potatoes were a little under cooked and the iced coffee I got was mediocre. With so many great roasters in the area I would love to see them do a cold brew with one of the roasters nearby. All to say would repeat for other items on the menu. I do feel like with all the brunch area in the area their prices are a little steep. 20.54 for eggs benny and the other place I was debating up the road it's 15. Will be back again :) read more

Customer Service is EVERYTHING! I am so disappointed while writing this review. Today I brought two new friends to this location, raving about it. I showed up a few minutes ahead of them because I had an appointment this morning, so I needed to leave earlier than them. I arrived at 0902, and the waiter spotted me as I sat down and asked how many people were coming. I said three and asked for coffee right away. He acknowledged. 8 minutes later the menus arrived from another, a waitress, and she said the coffee was coming. I told her I was in a but of a rush so I wanted to order food right away. She said ok. My friends arrived at 0912 later and I finally received my coffee shortly thereafter. The waiter returned to get their drink order. I asked him if he would place my food order at the same time, since I needed to leave soon. He refused. He said he needed to get the other tables food order first, since they were there before us. I said he could still get their order, but when he placed our beverage order, could he also place my food order. Again he refused. I told him I didn't care if he placed their order first, but please place my food order at the same time as our beverage order so I could get it in time to eat before I had to leave. Again he refused. He walked away and I walked inside to ask for help. I waited at the counter, watching the waitress prepare a coffee order. People in the kitchen were busy and it was obvious there was limited waitstaff. I waited and waited and no one came to help. I watched someone from the kitchen go help a woman that walked up to the counter from a different angle. At this point I gave up on food and told the waiter as he was walking up. He gave me cream for my coffee and I walked back outside to sit down with my friends. At 0930, he returned to get our food order and refilled my coffee. At this point I have no cutlery yet (spoon to stir my coffee), despite asking, and my friends ordered food. At 0945, I left, and my friends were still waiting on food and cutlery. I have been here several times and know the food takes awhile to come out. Hence why I wanted to order quickly. If an establishment is going to take time preparing and bringing out food, the REST of the service needs to be spot on and quick. Bring coffee and teas out swiftly and bring cutlery, cream, sugar etc at same time. Clearly, today, this place was short staffed but I do not feel my request was unreasonable. How hard would it have been to have written my order down on the same paper as the drink order, go to the other table and take their food order, then go inside and place all the orders? Perhaps he is new to the industry, perhaps he can only concentrate on one task at a time. Either way, I won't be back. There are too many other places around that I can try. read more

I had the gingerbread French toast which was okay. I wasn't wow'ed by it as I thought I would be. The gingerbread flavor was barely there and the toast was a little burnt on the side. After a couple of bites I wish I had gotten something else with some protein (it would have been cheaper too) and I think I'd like this place more. Unfortunately I had such high hopes for this place and was met with disappointment. I came in very eager and happy to try the food I had a huge smile on my face when I walked and and definitely walked out the opposite. The manager or waiter that attended me informed they didn't have what I was looking for because they change their menu on the weekends. I then took a while to decide what I wanted to oder next and the waiter left and didn't come back to take my oder for a while, even tho I mentioned I was ready. My ode came back wrong and was extremely oily. I didn't even finish my plate and I wanted to oder something else to fill me up since I couldn't even enjoy what I ordered and had already sent it back. The staff were not friendly they did not check in with me at all. I kept making eye contact to everyone around me to signal I wanted to oder something else and a waiter even looked at me and said, " You good ? " I was also there alone so I don't see how complicated it could have been to just check in. When I was ready to pay the person who took my Oder asked if I liked it and I was very honest and said no I didn't like the food at all. He didn't seem concerned at all and didn't try to make it up or see if I wanted anything else. Really delicious breakfast and brunch place! We loved the fresh and organic juices, and both my wife's omelette and my eggs Benedict with turkey sausage were delicious. There was a bit of a problem with the server, getting our order right, and we ordered a scone to go, but when we got back home, she had given us a turnover instead. So, one star off for Inattentive wait staff. We were there at the height of the Sunday, brunch rush, and it was really noisy. But, I think that's the price you pay for being in a place that offers great food... People want to go there, and it gets crowded and noisy. Not a problem, as long as you know what to expect.
