Iacono's has been a staple in Shawnee Hills for over 25 years that we have lived in the area. It is a good casual family restaurant with space to have a drink (bar area), atrium open seating with families and youngsters, and another overflow 'diner like' area (not always open). Note - it is typically very busy and you may have a wait. Their Pizza is thin and crispy - probably the thinest and crispiest in the area. Thinner than Tommy's, Donatos, or Flyers. Stopped in last night for a casual bite and enjoyed the salad bar and two good Pizza's; Pepperoni and a White Spinach. Both were good (I would say not great, as limited sauce on both and just a little too thin for our liking. Salad bar is very simple but hits the spot. Waitress and hostess were great and very polite. Depending on your party - request the bar area if more adult group with conversation and fun in mind; as the atrium/patio area can be very loud with just a few young pizza lovers around. Recommend salad bar and pepperoni - simple is better here. Parking on 3 sides but be cautious as neighbor businesses are sensitive to share. Thanks for a good night. read more

We ordered a large cheese pizza with half meatball. The pizza is extremely thin crust, which made the pizza light and not heavy. The meatball had a strong sausage taste. The sever was fast and friendly taking care of all the tables for lunch. The restaurant was very cute inside. read more

My refusal to get groceries on thanksgiving week led us to @iaconospizza in Shawnee Hills for dinner been wanting to try for a while and so glad we did! 5 stars because I will absolutely be eating here again. Their thin cracker crust pizza was reminiscent of our beloved Flammekuechen we enjoyed while on our honeymoon in Switzerland. But set your expectations as this is a thin crispy crust kind of place--not a raising dough kind of crust. I chose build your own with black olives and sausage (The sausage was delicious, huge chunks of real Italian sausage) &the hubby got the boneless buffalo. We waited 20 minutes before walking out. I'm reviewing Iacono's based on ordering take out rather than eating it there. My boyfriend said this is hands down his favorite pizza ever. I've tried Iacono's multiple times and I must say the crust is fantastic. It's light, but super crispy. I do enjoy their toppings, but I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of the cheese they use and there's not enough sauce for my own personal liking. I'm never going back. I ordered on their website a Large and a Medium for pickup, and added in the notes to make them Gluten Free. Their website lists "gluten free crust available". I show up to two smalls, and a guy who clearly doesn't care that he gave me less than half the food I ordered "figuring GF was more important than size." He was half right, but I still wanted the amount of food I ordered. He was going to just let me walk out, having paid for a large and a medium, and receiving 2 smalls. I had to ask what else I could eat: maybe a take-and-bake gf pie? No, he said, but he could make another one in 10 minutes. I said no, and had to ask him to refund the difference. Incredulous, he tapped away on the computer to refund me $3.55. So I paid $42 for two small pizzas. read more

I stopped in Iacono's for the first time around 5:00 on a Friday for a quick solo dinner. The place was bright and clean, and the staff was very friendly. It was also pretty busy, and full of families and locals who obviously love the place. I was quickly seated on the patio, which is very nice - and still enclosed and heated due to the season. My waitress was pleasant and efficient, and took good care of me. I ordered a draft beer, a meatball sub, and an order of fries. The fries were hot and crispy, and the sandwich was okay but a little dry and not super large. Overall I enjoyed my meal, but I can't speak to the pizza or the famous salad bar that everyone else seemed to be hitting hard. I think I'll go back again for that. read more

Is it bad that the true star of my review is the salad bar (not the pizza) ? We wandered in on a Sunday after a trip to the Zoo, and were able to be seated right away although it was busy. Loved the greenhouse style patio room we were in, and the atmosphere was lively. I cannot tell you when I last saw a salad bar and I was way too excited about it. The veggies were super fresh and it was nicely stocked. It also comes with soup, but it was too hot out for chicken noodle in my opinion. Service was great and we all enjoyed our pizza. I will say the gluten free crust is not nearly as good as the regular pizza, but the flavor of the toppings was right on. I have been a customer of Iacono's for over 40 years, going back to their Sawmill location. That ends now. We went in this past Saturday afternoon and stood waiting by the greeters podium for over five minutes. Finally, we were greeted and were taken to an auxiliary room where we were dropped off with menus (even though people were eating in the main Dining Room that was not crowded.) We sat for over 20 minutes, and were not approached by anyone, even the staff member that walked by us. Finally, we got up, left and had dinner elsewhere. I called today and asked to speak to the manager, After hearing the person who answered the phone make several smart aleck, unprofessional comments, the person presenting as the manager got tn the phone. While he did say that he was sorry, his dialogue indicated that he really couldn't care less. Not even a token attempt to make things right. That's fine, plenty of other local businesses that care about their customers and appreciate their patronage. We will start frequenting them and bypass this one. read more

We have been getting Iaconos every Saturday for over 16 years, this was the last time. After calling and speaking to the staff to actually put cheese and sauce on our pizza this time, we still received the burnt, cheese and sauceless pizza even worse than the previous weeks. Terrible experience and started when I walked in. I usually don't write bad recommendations but Iacono's was a total disappointment. Walked in, no tables available. BUT a family of seven was sat immediately. Still waiting, A family of 5 walks in, seated immediately. Still waiting. Then we are sat at the ONLY 2 seated table while there were multiple 4 seat tables open. Just very cramped table that I felt was unnecessary. Walked in to a shockingly GORGEOUS fining room. Gone is the sloped floors, dirty carpets, arched walkways. The fresh update includes wooden plank floors, a mix of high tops and low tsbles, new chairs and Lotsa smiling staff! We have been Iaconos customers for 40+ years. I noticed last month when I brought friends here, their subs had burnt tops. We had to wait a longer than usual time to get them, so we just ate them as is. You would have thought the kitchen or the server would not have had these brought to the table that way. A few weeks ago I had a celebration of my husband's life and ordered 5 large pizzas for my family and friends. This was his go to for pizza. 3 pizzas were wrong. All pizzas had burnt crusts. All had been left in the oven too long. All the toppings just melted into the crusts and you could not tell what was on them. I was mortified and heartbroken. I sent them a letter sharing my disappointment. I said if they really were proud of their offerings they never would have let these go out the door. I said it told all of us that they could not afford to not serve burnt food to their customers. Obviously my experiences told me that there was no longer quality and pride in their offerings. They had my address and they could have looked up my order. I did not want credit or anything free. I wanted them to acknowledge their substandard food and vow to improve. Have not heard anything from them. So with a broken heart I am terminating my relationship (Along with family and friends) of this longstanding favorite. Waited out a magnificent thunder storm and showed up 7-8 min late to pick up our pizzas, which were still hot and fresh, using their curbside pickup method. When it arrived, it was either old, having been in the pizza bar for a while or was previously frozen. Then, after the remodel of the restaurant we read that it was already shut down by the health department. We waited several weeks then ordered another cheese pizza. Horrible.
