This is one of my favorite restaurant. Food was excellent and the ambiance was cozy . The only thing i was disappointed about was the mere fact they charged for requesting hot water. Really ? I found out only when we asked for the bill. $1.50 / glass so $3.00 for 2 orders of hot water. Cold water was free. Would you believe that.....? What a bomber indeed!when i asked the owner he said its for the energy bill ....disgusting. the proper way is i feel whenever a customer orders hot water , atleast the waiter or waitress tells the customer they are being charged for the hot water. What a find! Food is fantastic, service is attentive, room is very well appointed. A true gem in Belmont. We came as a party of 6 to celebrate my oldest daughters new job and I joked to her at the end the only thing that wasn't amazing was the water ... it was just water. You really should try this restaurant ... you won't be disappointed. The paella was phenomenal, the squid was superb ... I can't wait to get to the rest of the menu. Very authentic Spanish cuisine. I love Spanish food and as someone who had been the country several times, I am craving for authentic Spanish food coming back to the states. Glad to find this place so close to home. Aioli was freshly made, squid Tapas is very tasty, and the paella is divine. Will definitely go back again and again. Had lunch reservations for 3 people at 11:30. Were quickly and courteously seated. The owner, Jose Luis, who took our order, explained the quantity of food in each tapas we ordered. We ordered 6 tapas including the ham croquetas which are not on the menu but were available this day. The other tapas were sardine filet wrapped in tender grape leaf, baby artichokes in sauce, a sea scallop dish, a seafood 'stew' which had baby sea squid?, and the potato omelet. We also ordered the bread basket (4 different kinds), two of which were homemade. The presentation of the tapas was well paced and food was always warm. (We were there for 2 hours!) We asked for a wine selection and the owner paired one selection for the entire meal. It was masterful. Then came dessert. It was brazo di gitano-pistachio cake with chocolate. It is flour-less, light and delicate. Extraordinary. The check included tax and tip which is the European way. The owner thanked us for coming. Great place for a thoroughly enjoyable leisurely meal - lovely intimate setting, not noisy, warm and personable staff. The food is yummy (check out the tapas!) and the owner and wait staff are friendly and helpful. Unassuming location from the exterior, but as soon as you walk in...wow! Excited to have a new restaurant in Belmont, and I'm a big tapas fan. This is a great date spot. Great ambience and outstanding service. My experience has been that there are very few (any?) restaurants in Belmont with good dessert courses. We shared the pistachio sponge cake and... wow. We'd go back just for that. We shared scallops, dates, quail, brandy pork, and patatas bravas. All were good. Some were great. The scallops were stunning. The dates were great; sweet and salty and tender. The pork was good. Interesting flavors and well cooked. The patatas bravas were good, but not our favorite (Toro Bravo, Portland). The puff pastry on the quail was excellent, but the poultry itself was a bit dry. I'd prefer a fattier bird. read more

Who charges a 20% service charge for a party of 2? These people do! Service is left at the customers discretion, not a mandated 20% fee upfront. Also this service charge is inclusive of tax, not just food ordered. After that the owners kid were running around at lunch in an empty restaurant. Furthermore the food was lacking as well! We ordered an over cooked over salted paella with frozen seafood, and shrimp that hadn't been deveined! We also ordered an un memorable tapas which was marginally better than the garbage paella. One star, I would give less if I could. I usually let these garbage businesses sort themselves out naturally and close on their accord. My girlfriend and I do not go out very often but when we want to enjoy a good dinner and a great coctail, we go to Iberia. The place is outstanding and the food is high quality: they use some of the best ingridients. Their coctails are very generous, meaning they use at least 3 oz of hard liqour in them. The clams were amazing, we used our bread to soak up every last drop of the broth. The garlic shrimp, mushrooms dish, and gazpacho are also pretty good. The grilled octopus is of a harder texture than we like. Overall, I think it and LV Mar are the top two tapas places in the region. read more

This is a true find. Moved from Menlo park to this less exotic setting, but the high quality of its true Spanish style remains. Mr Jose Luis. This is in response to your reply regarding my review of a few weeks ago. Our reservation was at 6 pm and we where there right at 6 pm. As a matter of fact, a couple of the ladies were there before 6 pm. You state on your reply that we arrived at 7 pm! YOU ARE A LIAR!!! No one would hold a table for 8 people for an hour!! Your restaurant is very small and our table was the largest. No owner would hold on to that table if the party was late an hour. You are correct we left the restaurant at 11:00 BUT WE GAVE UP OUR TABLE AT 8:30 AND WE MOVED TO THE BAR AT THAT TIME. Your attitude is unprofessional and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. In addition, the food portions are very small and very pricey. If you like good small plates and good drinks, Iberia is an upscale place with great food. If you like Spanish food, which is some of the best, in our opinion, then Iberia is a jewel! There are very few authentic Spanish restaurants in SF and in the peninsula. So when you find one, and a good one, it's worth sharing so people who love Spanish food as we do will enjoy and support it! Restaurante Iberia is like a fine restaurant in Spain: it's elegantly decorated - but not overdone. As you enter, the bar invites with a full bar in a large space shared with comfortable chairs and sofas. The dining room provides a great area because it can be both open and social or can offer privacy. Each dish/tapa we ordered was superbly prepared, authentic in flavor and composed of excellent quality ingredients. If one judges a restaurant by it's bread, Iberia gets high marks! The short but excellent wine/beer list offers mostly Spanish and Latin American. And owner Jose Luis is attentive and helpful making sure each client is satisfied. Paella was of the same quality as any other decent restaurant in the area, yet lacking in quantity of featured items (2 of each of the following: small pieces of chicken, small pieces of pork, mussels, clams, slices of artichoke + a handful of bay shrimp. $38 for small size which feeds 2-3. Prawns came unprepared which is always inconvenient to eat. Also took over 30 minutes to make even though we were one of the only tables that had ordered. On top of all this, 19.75% gratuity included on all orders. No desire to return. read more

The owner and the waiter were incredible! They were attentive and gave us a list of their recommendations. All of them turned out to be delicious! My favorite dish (if I had to pick one) was the one with sauteed pork and clams. We showed up at 5:30pm as they opened the store and we were the first customers for that evening. We went tonight for the first time and will be back for sure - what a great date night spot, and I love that it's in Belmont within a 20 minute walk from my home! It's small inside but all very nicely and newly done - the bar in particular was beautiful. We ordered 6-7 tapas, the bread service and a couple of glasses of wine each. Everything was good, particular highlights were the pork skewer, the ham croquettes, stuffed mussels and the chorizo-stuffed dates. Tres leches for dessert was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive but not fawning, as another reviewer said - the owner was making the rounds and seemed really friendly with a couple of the tables that he focused in on, though. We ordered a couple more plates after our first round of tapas and they cleared our dinner plates in between - I really liked that they cleared the dirty silverware that was stacked on the plate and brought new, rather than placing the dirty items back on the table. I know that sounds crazy but it really bugs me when servers do that and I always find it to be the mark of a place with excellent service to offer clean utensils with each course. Interesting note, they add in a service charge for all tables and the charge slip comes out without a tip line - very European and I'm a fan of this model (pay the workers, don't do the whole tip dance at the end). Only downsides to me were (1) that the two-top we were seated at had this weird chair/booth thing that was not super comfortable, and (2) also the domestic white wine list was 3/4 Chardonnay. I asked for a recommendation from the Spanish section so I could try something new - but I don't see the need to offer that many Chardonnays in general. Also (3) it is in kind of a weird location - nice to be near Caltrain, but neighbors are vape shops, used car place, Uhaul, etc. Still, small nitpicks and we'll be back for sure! read more

First time here came from San Jose after seeing review in Mercury newspaper. We had the paella which was a cornucopia of flavors and delightful aromas. Also had the Noster Priorat bottle of wine from Spain. It was delicious! Our paella was preceded by their famous Ceasar salad which was amazingly tasteful. We ended the night with the flan dessert. Yum. Now as we glanced at our bill we noticed an automatic service charge that at most establishments is a prerogative of the customer and while we tipically would give a 20% gratuity we would like to retain the right to do so. Did not feel welcomed - the owner made a comment that both me and my friends didn't feel comfortable. The paella is alright, rice is slightly too moist. Wow, what a surprising, serendipitous find. My buddy took me here when I mentioned Tapas. I've had tapas many times before at many different places, but none this good. My buddy visits Spain, now and again, and thinks Iberia is as authentic as you'll find outside of Spain. The Spanish wine paired nicely and the food was expertly prepared and presented. The little house restaurant was very clean and looked well appointed. Certainly not a cheesy strip mall hole in the wall with plastic table clothes. Delicious Spanish style Tapas!!! Authentic style. A wonderful local establishment that's moved several times which we recently discovered again. Had tapas this evening but they also offer delicious looking paella. Positives: Sangria is tasty but packs a punch. Datiles de endiablados, so good we ordered two servings (portion is four stuffed dates), Concha de Santiago, scallops in cheesy mushroom sauce , a table favorite. Jabato mozari, wild boar, would definitely recommend , thumbs up all around. Espalda de lechon, pork shoulder, delicious. Gambas al ajillo, flavorful and garlicky, sop sauce!. Cheese puffs in bread service delicious and bread for sopping sauces, yes please! All portions are generous, shareable for tapas sized plates. Desserts! All delicious and creative; the winner was crushed meringue, with caramel crunch like nibs in base enclosing ice cream layers, the table favorite. Tres leches, very moist, flavorful. Pistachio cake enclosing a creamy chocolate mousse like middle also delicious. Could converse with fellow guests even though there was a corporate group sharing the restaurant. Room for Improvement: Patatas bravas con allioli , not too distinctive but a low key alternative starch for sopping sauces. Restaurant space configuration: Two sections in the restaurant / house. Needs a space optimizer process consultant, for instance suggest moving greeting podium/area nearer to front door, opens up more usable space in bar area and also helps delineate entry space. Minimize the bar area to just the bar with few stools, make more room for dining tables and add a few subtle visual dividers of a sort? Dining room cozy, loved the elegant metal bull sculpture on the wall. Should consider using a partial screen between dining area and kitchen prep as kitchen space is quite prominent and several tables thus guests look directly into a wide, bright kitchen. Again add screen or such ie hanging tapestry helps delineate work vs guest space. Need some space optimizing as it is overall a small place for such a delicious, inviting food and dining experience offering. Some space optimization would improve the ambiance, feeling of intimacy thus the transportation to Spain experience for guests. read more

We have been here once for dinner and twice for lunch. The food and service are always excellent. Going to Iberia makes us feel like we've gone to Spain for the days. The new location is a little tricky, but once inside, the ambiance is warm and cozy. I'm sure the if Iberia was on Laurel ST in San Carlos that it would packed all the time (and most of the restaurants on that street are quite average). The razor clams were fantastic. read more
