Despite that, the two girls working here were hustling, making sure all the toppings were stocked and had a smile on their faces. This place is great for a refreshing desert! It has a cool texture that is both creamy and icy! Like a mixture of shaved ice and icecream combined. I personally recommend the original milk( doesn't taste like milk don't worry) although the green tea comes in as a close second. Other flavors include lychee, strawberry, chocolate, and other cool flavors they come up with. I always go with the coconut with dark chocolate pieces, but I hear the rest of the flavors are amazing too! In response to some of the "complaints below: you can control the weight of the toppings, but not the actual ice itself but it is super light so it really doesn't seem like a big deal to me.... This is a fun place although parking is super hard to find. You're better off trying to get parking on the street. The shaved snow here is a different texture than the crunchy type of shaved ice that you typically get at other places. My favorite flavor is the frozen hot chocolate with the different chocolate type toppings. I really like the strawberry flavor too and had the condensed milk added in to make it sweeter. I've also had the lychee but thought it was kind of bland. You pay by weight but the cost is still pretty low even with a bunch of toppings. This is my favorite dessert/place thus far. We love taking the kids here for a treat. The shaved ice is light, fluffy and not too sweet. I like the green tea, thai tea, and coconut flavors. Probably one of the best shaved ice I've ever had! You can't miss this place because the outside is a pretty baby blue color that sticks out like a sword thumb in the plaza! You can make your own or pick from their menu. I always pick from their menu because I don't do well with making anything food related lol. My favorite is the matcha comin atcha (such a cute name btw) and it has condense milk, red bean and Mochi. The shaved ice literally taste like matcha and has the perfect consistency unlike other shaved ice I've had in the past. The only downfall of this place is that when they are busy the wait/line does get pretty long because there is usually only one or two employees and they make the shaved ice on a machine that requires them to do a lot of the labor oh and they only have two of these machines so they can only make so many at a time. One time my sisters and I each ordered something and we held up the line and I felt so bad and embarrassed but the wokers were very friendly about it and didnt make me feel uncomfortable (but i did on the inside haha). Defintely a place to go to on a hot day! Hopefully they will have more employees and more machines especially in the summer when this place will probably get super busy! read more

Matcha matcha matcha, how I love thee. Shaved ice cream (or is it something else??!) + mochi/Oreos/cheesecake/redbean/condensed milk/cookie dough = (: according to my recent studies. Maybe it's just a gimmick, a hype over its relative rarity that it's shaved ice cream but one thing is for certain, it's pretty bomb. I've been here a tried all sorts of combinations (with matcha, I don't stray from what I love most) and overall the taste and the price is right. Granted I don't load my bowl down with toppings but consistently the price has been $3-4 for a solid portion. Also the vibing atmosphere makes it nice, however the crowd makes it cramped and the sandy outdoor seating is strange but kinda cool. Overall the place is a 4 stars as the shaved ice cream is no doubt delicious (with condensed milk) but it feels like it lacks something, like you know, a delicious substance and flavor. I will return no doubt but be warned if you don't add the right toppings it won't taste like much at all (aka condensed milk.) read more

Self-service shaved ice is a great idea!! We had boba tea across the street a night earlier and kids in the back wanted ice cream after dinner. We were thinking about visiting Tapioca Express again for sweets and passed by this crowded corner place. My daughter in the back seat said she wanted ICES-KIMO. Well, it turned out to be a brilliant move because we grew up eating shaved ice and this place made the whole family happy. We first ordered a large with half original milk and chocolate. Kids put on their regular yogurt toppings and we started to share. About half way done, wife and I both agreed to order another large original milk with traditional toppings like condensed milk and red beans to satisfy our grown up flavors. They actually put the condensed milk half way before they piled up the up to sandwich the flavor. Wife is usually not a big fan of desserts but made an exception for the shaved ice. I strongly suggest that they open more locations in other areas especially in the Bay Area!! read more

This cute little shop offers a great variety of choices for add-ins. The flavors of the snow are anything but basic--Lychee, Passion Fruit, Toasted Coconut, Black Sesame to name a few. They even serve Stumptown Coffee flavor! The best part is their prices and sizes are very fair. I have been to a small, very basic snow ice type of a shop further south and they serve a mini sized cup (about 5oz I estimate) for $4.00! It wasn't even enough for my 3 year old! This shop weighs each container with toppings and all and they charge .48 cents an ounce. So price, quality and service... All FIVE stars! We'll definitely be back! read more

First off- I'll be straight up and let you all know from the get go, I'm not a Yelp pro like the rest of you. Brand new to Yelp, though I have consulted random reviews in past times as the determining factor for whether I will or won't eat somewhere. New to the San Diego scene and figuring out what to do and where to eat- whenever time permits! I was in the mood to eat something sweet, light and refreshing and shaved snow/shaved ice came to mind. I travel a lot and enjoy a myriad of food, from fine dining, to hole in the wall joints as well as street food in other countries, so I tend to keep an open mind. This place was easy to find, as it is in the corner of a shopping plaza. Clean surroundings, everything was hygienic, and there was a friendly face that welcomed me on arrival. I told her it was my first time here, and she made a few suggestions. I ended up selecting the special of the day which happened to be Jasmine Trifecta. Unfortunately, I didn't snap a quick photo before I attacked the sweet treat, as it was hot and my blood sugar was at an all-time low. Just know that this little dessert was well worth the trip. I live in Downtown SD. Back to the star of the show, the jasmine trifecta- comes with honey aloe which is small, petite squares of sweet and squishy goodness with a slight crunch, almond jelly cubed up into cold little squares of surprising sweetness and delicate flavor, and boba balls. I added condensed milk which overall, gave it an even creamier flavor and slight sweetness. You'd think with all of the toppings and the shaved Jasmine Green Tea Ice, there'd be a glucose big bang occurring on your palette but it was well balanced and didn't overpower. I am not a fan of syrupy sweet, ouch- diabetes-might-kick-in desserts but honestly, this was well rounded. I ordered a small size, which was perfect for me. Ladies- it won't ruin your bikini bod summer plans, I swear. Try it the next time you come. I'll be sure to come back for more after I stuff myself with Korean BBQ somewhere in one of these little restaurants. Looking forward to try all of the flavors. Had the lychee shaved snow and I liked it! Light flavor and fluffy. My friend said she couldn't taste the lychee though. I also had the green tea the second time, but i didn't like that one as much. I liked that you can put your own toppings on, I usually like the fresh fruits and just a little condensed milk on top. I've been here twice. The first time I brought my kids and they absolutely LOVED it. I love show ice! It's sooo fluffy and delicious with condensed milk, mhmm. We have Yogurtland and Shaved Ice every now and then, but this.. THIS is different. It melts in your mouth. At work, we had a 3 hour lunch break due to a meeting so I brought some workers to try this out. They don't eat much Asian food or desserts. They all loved it. The price is decent, totally worth it really. And you don't feel like forcing yourself to finish it, perfect portions because it goes down so easily. It's a light treat, but I always get a small and I tend not to pack on a bunch of toppings. They also have a punch card so you can earn towards free treats. The parking lot is a hit or miss thing. Usually I can find parking, but it's Convoy... and anything on Convoy is a tight squeeze. No matter what time of day, there's usually a bunch of people. Really, really unhappy about service and friendliness here. It was my first experience, and have heard so many wonderful stories about how good the shaved ice was. And now I see why--the desserts are delicious! I got the shaved ice with toppings, and I love it. Back to staff-- there were three people working, and they were already working on one order, so I kind of just stood there for a while. I looked at the menu because it was my first time, and I wasn't familiar with what was served here, etc. After a good five minutes, one of the ladies said "hello" and kind of went back to helping out the other two people. It was just me and my friend. We stood there for a long time, because we didn't know whether they'd ask to help us or if we had to just grab their attention and order. I felt like an idiot just standing there! Eventually, the guy asked if he could get me anything, and I let him know this was my first time. He explained how the menu was organized, but not really what I had to do and how to order. So I said I wanted a size small with these two flavors. He made them and gave it to me. The other two girls just stood there behind the counter, and I was like wait. I want toppings? But the guy was helping another customer, and the two other girls were just standing there. I also just stood there for a while, until I raised my hand and said "hi uhm I kind of wanted toppings" and she cut me off to say "oh yeah go ahead it's self serve." I'm sorry; I didn't know it was self serve. All I observed, since I walked in, was all three of them making these orders and putting in all the toppings. I thought that was something they did. I didn't know those were specialty (favorites) flavors and thus they did those. I didn't know it was self serve for my own flavors. I don't know. This was my first time, and I felt really out of place and stupid because I didn't know how everything operated. Maybe they expect me to just know, but I'm a new customer--how am I supposed to know?
