We've not been to Ichi 20 in a number of years, but it was convenient today, so we thought we would grab some lunch. This is the kind of place with a menu on the wall behind the counter. Much like the other Ichi locations and other similar places...however, there were no prices listed! Our fear was if you can't show your prices, we might not be pleased with said prices. Meals have gotten smaller and prices got larger. The Mongolian chicken was good but the teriyaki chicken was lacking flavor.

Filling portions and good food! We came here for lunch and ordered the chicken katsu lunch combination and the chicken & beef teriyaki combo. The chicken katsu was very crispy and seemed to come with two breast fillets, so it was a great amount of food. Really delicious dipped in teriyaki and sriracha! Gyoza was also crispy and had a tasty filling. The chicken and beef teriyaki had a really nice char flavor. All around great - portions make up for the price. read more

Over priced, very little flavor in chicken yakisoba, the orange chicken tasted like it was cooked in old oil. I don't know how potstickers can be made to not taste good, but in this case ichi did it. The service was good but we ate very little of the food $45 down the drain! I went here 10 years ago and never went back until today! Now I remember why!!! Panda Express is a better option. 9/17/17 Came in again for my yakisoba noodles fix. They always have nice hot food here and it's normally delicious. However this time it seemed to have a weird taste to it. I think the cabbage might have been bad. It's tasted as if was spoiled cabbage or something in the food was off. Maybe it was the teriyaki sauce that I put on it. It might have been bad as I wonder how long it had been sitting on the table. Today the free egg drop soup was especially good. Maybe just an off day but I will come back on another month of so. This is my go to place for good teriyaki food. I always get the yakisoba noodles. Today I found out you get a free bowl of soup when your place an order to eat it there. Always good and always hot. Came to Ichi for the first time - during Covid. Which is surprising, since it is very close to home, and in the same shopping center as my usual stops! We tried the Chicken Teriyaki and Short Rib plate, and the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki meal. The prices are extremely affordable for the amount of food you receive! It was like two full meals! This teriyaki establishment is near my home in the Orchards area of Vancouver, WA. Besides being very convenient the food is always delicious. As you walk in you can't help but notice that it is always clean and well kept. There is plenty of seating. Tables can be joined to accommodate large groups. The staff here is always friendly and inviting. Any special requests are eagerly accommodated. After placing your order, don't forget to help yourself to a complimentary cup of Egg flour soup. Between the huge serving of beef, the rice, salad, and free Egg Flower soup, it was more than one person could eat. And, I was super hungry. Overall, a very good value. Under 10 bucks. Place was neat, and clean. If you're looking for friendly service, probably not the place for you. The lady taking the order was super busy and all business. Almost to the point of unfriendly. She greets guests, takes their orders, serves the food, grabs empty plates, AND cleans. All on her own. So don't expect to be treated like the "1%" here. I been coming here in the past 3 years. Summing up this place in three words: Too Much Salt I like salt. It's probably negatively contributing to my blood pressure. Still... Too Much Salt. There are some good things though. I came in for lunch and food was delivered very quickly. I didn't even make it through a cup of Egg Flower Soup (free if you dine in) before my lunch arrived. The Teriyaki Chicken and Gyoza combo was a generous portion. I was able to save half for lunch the next day. However, back to the salt issue. The gyoza was too salty, the sauce for the gyoza was too salty, and the teriyaki chicken was too salty. Also, the salad add too much dressing on it. A few days ago I picked up dinner from here and regretted it. I go to Ichi 18 all the time and it's my favorite teriyaki place, but haven't been able to go much in recent months. This location is on my way home from work and I made the mistake of assuming all the Ichi restaurants had the same food. I got a to-go order of my usual chicken yakisoba with extra veggies and an extra teriyaki sauce, and decided to splurge and try an order of spring rolls. The egg drop soup tasted exactly the same and was delicious, but the yakisoba was just horrible. The noodles had a weird mushy texture and tasted like old oil or like something was spoiled or had gone off, and adding soy sauce to try and mask the flavor made my stomach turn. The veggie mix was different and included red peppers, which I really dislike and I think contributed to the vile taste. The spring rolls were overcooked and tough with a foul-tasting mushy filling. I paid roughly $18.00 for all this to treat myself after a long week at work, and I was disgusted and disappointed. It's rare that I complain or ask for a refund and I frequently just eat things anyway even if it's not very good, but this was so completely inedible that I drove back to ask for a refund. I quietly let the woman at the counter know that I was sorry, but the food wasn't good and I asked for my money back. She yanked my card out of my hand and started going through the bag of food. She muttered that they could refund me this time only, and then she called the male cook out of the kitchen and they loudly discussed the matter in another language. Then they both started berating me for going to restaurants and getting refunds, and he was going on about how I'm in the wrong for doing this to restaurants. At some point I mentioned going to another Ichi all the time and that theirs was different, and they both laughed at me and said I should have known they are different and would have different food. They argued with me to make me something new instead and I again asked for my money back because it hadn't tasted good and I didn't want more of the same. I have anxiety and struggle with confrontation, so after several minutes of this my eyes were starting to tear up and my throat was locking. I apologized to them several times and asked again for my money while they continued berating me and saying they would do it just this one time but never again. As soon as they gave me my card back and my refund receipt I left as fast as I could and cried in the parking lot. I am NEVER coming here again, ever, and may never try another Ichi other than my favorite 18 after this experience. read more

Came this evening with my husband,father in-law,and mother in-law my in-laws highly recommended this place saying how good the food was and all I could think was "god......it's going to be like panda express" lol, so my husband and I meet them at the restaurant it's kind of small but has enough room to seat about 40 people or more. My first impressed part was I noticed the crock pot that said 'Free Soup' that impressed both my husband and I because we have never gone to a restaurant that had free soup, we looked at the menu and my husband chose a plate I really don't know what but I posted pictures of everyone's plates with the letter and number. I ordered C-1 it had chicken,pork,and potstickers and came with a salad and two scoops of white rice, when I recieved my food it looked delicious and since I don't have a sense of smell I can't tell you what it smelled like but I have a sense of taste and the first thing I tried was a potsticker it had been fried but not overly so it was still tender but had a nice crispness, the flavors were yummy and I wanted more of those,my next try was the pork it wasn't overly cooked was tender and had the right amount of seasoning,the same was for the chicken the meat was nicely cut up and layed on the plate and was very delicious. I ate my salad and the sauce was peculiar at first until my mother in-law said it tasted like they made a miracle whip sauce and I had to agree that's why it tasted peculiar to me lol,but it was good. They give you a huge dish of food and I got full, so I brought home my rice and some of my pork and chicken. 3.5 stars. Gen Tao chicken platter. Fresh, hot and cooked to order. We also had a Mongolian Beef platter which was reported to be quite good as well. Everything was as expected and service was quick. This place has an interesting array of stuff. I think I mentioned it on a previous review that it is interesting that a place with a Japanese name has better Chinese food than many of the Chinese places in town. The food was not great but it was a tad above average. There is enough variety on the menu that anyone can find something for lunch or dinner here and many dishes come with a green salad and everyone gets free egg drop soup. read more

Ugh, ordered veg spring rolls, the cooking oil must have been changed 3 years ago. My husband ordered king Po , yikes full of sugar it was like eating candy. Brown rice was glued together and rubbery . Must have been from yesterday. Way too much sugar, salt and soy sauce. The cook must smoke cigarettes, they kill your taste buds. Bad, bad, bad. I struggle with Ichi quite a bit. I just feel that most of the things that they charge for are quite tedious and that the service is kinda lame. That being said, their food deserves a four star at least. I just find it kinda lame that they charge extra for tiny things of sauce, but hardly put any sauce on their chicken in the first place. I also always feel like I'm being rushed by the people who work there, except there's no one behind me like ever, so what's the point of trying to rush me? I don't know, I'm pretty picky when it comes to Asian restaurants, so I might be being a tiny bit hard on them, but Ichi is on the bottom of the list of Asian places I want to go most of the time. Quite disappointed in our lunch. The portion was plentiful, but just so-so. Also 1/3 the plate is filled with plain iceberg lettuce & a splash of ranch dressing. Another middle section was plain white rice. I had Almond Chicken. The almonds were sparse, veggies were scarce. It was very busy at 12:30 pm, one person worked waiting tables & cashier. It took a long time to get our order, understandably. I got my plate, then my dining partner didn't get theirs for several minutes more while the waitress /cashier answered the phone, took orders & delivered food. I have eaten at a few restaurants like this one and some call themselves Hawaiian barbecue, some call it Japanese; but they all have about the same menu. I myself am I very awkward person and the moment I ordered a water I couldn't find it on the soda machine and the lady that was working at the counter was very polite and helped me and make me feel less embarrassed. But the food itself was wonderful and the serving side was HUGE I had some to take home with me afterwords and enjoy for later!! And when they say teriyaki, they mean it! They have the teriyaki in bottles in the tables, in case you want to add more to your meal, and this is the good stuff. I have recently discovered this little place and it's down right goodness just recently, I mean I've lived less than 5 miles away from them and always went to the Safeway next door. My mom and I where super hungry at 7 at night so we decided to dive into it. I know it's kind of a chain restaurant but it is amazing! The flavors are wonderful and you can hear them chopping up your freshly cooked meat in the back! While you are waiting for your meal (if you're dining in) you can help yourself to free egg flower soup! And oh my gosh it's very good, not too salty or eggy, just perfect. The lady brings your food to you and the plate looks saucy sloppy which is a simple fix with a napkin ran along the sides but who really cares? As long as you get great food for a great price! I cared because I am going to school to become a chef and it just got to me like it would any chef. I always see the lady who works as the cashier walk down a few doors to Safeway to get some more ingredients so I know it's super fresh! The salad dressing they use to put on your salad is SO REFRESHING in between juicy and flavorful bites of teriyaki! it's really great and very clean other than a saucy plate and it was all nice and hot and freshly cooked.
