I wanted to like this place! The inside is really cute however I sat at the bar for a quick bite the fried shrimp dumpling was just ok! I then ordered a shrimp tempura roll. Took one bite of it and happen to be looking at the other one which had a hair embedded in the crumbs of the shrimp tails. I called the waitress over to inform her and she could visibly see it and offered to give me anything else on the menu! Why would I want anything else to eat from here?! I was a little annoyed that they still wanted me to pay for my dumplings I mean it was only five dollars but good customer service would have just taken it off! Disgusted! I cannot speak to the food at this restaurant, I didn't get that far. I had been wanting to try this restaurant that was closer to home and per the reviews here, less expensive than Imperial Koi. I went on Friday night about 7:45pm. I was sitting at the Sushi Bar. There were several tables around me looking at menus. The Sushi Chef gave me a menu. A waitress finally appeared and slid a set up to me from another spot on the bar. I tried to catch her to order a drink, but she was gone in a flash. A nearby table of 6 also tried to get her attention... they had no drinks either. When she ignored them as well, they got up and left. I asked if they had been waiting long... they said 20 mins. WOW! The restaurant was not that busy. Then, the table of 3 that had water in front of then, also got up and left. This was followed by two staff members arguing with each other in their native tongue. I have no idea what was being said, but I had seen enough. I was really looking for a nice place to unwind after a rough week at work. Luckily I found it, at my old stand by... US Sushi. read more

I eat out EXTENSIVELY in the town of Greensboro and I was thrilled to discover Ichi Sushi last week! Greensboro is famous for sub-par average-priced restaurants that slaughter any foreign dish but, much like Imperial Choi, Ichi Sushi rises above in every regard. I was impressed with the decor immediately. A relaxing vibe with hip soothing music and excellent service. I felt like I was in Raleigh, Charlotte or San Francisco. The owners must have taken previous reviews to heart because we were pampered! Immediately served drinks and checked on frequently. Even our food was prompt hot and delicious. I challenge the 2 negative reviewers to retry this restaurant. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I dined with a party of 3 so... we were able to sample the sushi, salad, soup, spring rolls, teryaki Bento lunch box (a VERY complete lunch for only $7.50) and lastly, my favorite the Thai Basil Chicken with vegetables. This was my only complaint: I detected a mild flavor of fish sauce - I often add to my dishes at home to set apart from the non-asian dishes. I wasn't in the mood for it. Informed the waitress and the dish was redone within 5 minutes and... it was PERFECT: High quality cuts of chicken (no chinese mystery meat here), fresh and crunchy - not overcooked- veggies and a perfect sauce. The basil was fresh and leafy with hints of natural spice (3 on the 10 scale of spicy). We will definitely dine here again and highly recommend to friends. Our total bill with 3 drinks came to 24 dollars plus tax and tip. When compared to their immediate neighbors within 200 yards (salsarita's, Panera Bread, Jets Pizza and some fried food wing joint) Ichi Sushi rises above. When compared to other asian restaurants in town, I give a 9.5 out of 10. Very convenient location - do your stomach a favor and give it a try. Chirashi was decent but not amazing. Philly roll and spicy salmon roll was mediocre. The sushi rice was mushy. Service was ridiculously slow. It took a party of 4 over 2.5 hours to complete dinner. Took forever for the food to come out. We went during Valentine's day and they were maybe at 40% capacity. There was a table that did a dine and ditch and the owner & family did a screaming session at each other in front of the host table. lt was extremely unprofessional and embarsing and uncomfortable after that incident. read more

The food is ok but this restaurant has a waitress with a ponytail that has to be the worst server in Greensboro. She yells at customers when they walk in, rushes customers to place their order quickly, serves food across customers faces instead of coming from the back or side, and pours the foamiest beer ever. She must be related to the owner or I'm sure she would have been fired by now. Lose her and this place would be much better. read more

My family and I have been coming here non stop since it opened and it's even gotten to the point where the owner who is usually our waitress can come to our table and know exactly what we're going to order. A reasonably priced lunch special and nice atmosphere. Clean, sleek and comfortable. The staff was very nice and quick. Stopped going a year ago because they bring their kids to work and they were running all over the place. Thought we would give it a try. Kids grew up but the one sat at the table next to us watching a video with no head phones the entire meal. Assumed his mother, would go by and bark some orders to him in Chinese and he would have to run a credit card or deliver food or drinks. Went on a Thursday night, after 7 pm. Service was warm, informed, inviting. The two Sushi/ Sashimi chefs were true artisans-- all the fish is so fresh. My friend and I marveled at the variety, freshness of every ingredient, the perfection of each individual sauce, everything superb and the prices very reasonable. I am letting GSO, and the Triad area know, this is hands down, the BEST Asian and FRESHEST SUSHI & SASHIMI restaurant in North Carolina! Just went here for lunch, thought it was going to be a "fast food" type place, but as soon as I opened the door I knew different. Very nice, calming, sophisticated. My husband said he was bracing for the prices. Surprisingly, they were reasonable. We ordered from the lunch menu. I ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura. After living in Japan for five years, i can homestly say this is the best tempura i have ever had! So crispy!!! And it came with rice, a couple pieces canned pineapple, and shumai, and miso soup (I could have gotten salad rather than soup). The price for all that food was just $7.50. And they have about 20 options on that lunch special menu. We can't wait to go back. Their dinner menu items looked reasonably priced too. read more

I've been eating at Ichi pretty much since it opened a few years ago. Sometimes once or twice a week because of location and because my children were able to find food they liked. We've cut our visits back the last several months due to one of the servers being pretty rude. But decided to give them a shot today since we hadn't been in awhile. The server we had was pleasant however when we sent back a dish my oldest has had multiple times because he said it tasted sweet. The server who caused us to stop going because of her rudeness came to our table to address the situation. I told her he said it was too sweet and she proceeded to argue with me that it wasn't sweet. I told her I was sorry he didn't like it he's had it before and it tastes different. She continued to argue that it wasn't sweet. He took a very small bite out of his dish it's not like he ate the majority of it and I was trying to get it for free. He honestly didn't think it tasted good and he didn't want anything else at that point. I've worked in the service industry most of my adult life and would never think to talk to a customer that way. In fact I'm sure I would've been fired if I ever argued with a customer at any of the establishments I've worked at! Really disappointing because it is a local business and I do like supporting local but this was our last chance with Ichi I already felt like we'd been treated rudely in the past but today really took the cake! read more

This is my FAVORITE sushi place in Greensboro!!! I know my sushi! this is by far the best!!! the owners are friendly and warm as well as the staff! I found this place by chance and I will only eat here from now on. The prices are fare as well!!! The spicy combo is a reasonable price!! And they don't skimp on any of the fish! Been here twice under totally different circumstances. Once was early dinner with no other customers and I got two sushi rolls to go. Quality did not match the price, but it was better than I expected for a strip mall. The waitress was rude but I didn't really care as I was getting To Go. The second time was during a non-crowded lunch and I got a fusion box. It was like mall food. Same waitress, same rudeness. This time I couldn't justify the bad service because the food sucked and I won't be returning. read more

We used to order from here almost every weekend. We had an ok takeout meal about a month ago. We thought we would give it some time before going back. We almost ordered takeout from Imperial Koi until we thought about giving Ichi a try - it's about $20 cheaper but usually just as good. We got the spicy roll combo, angel roll and kiss me roll - our usual!! We got home and opened everything up, and it was very fishy. It almost made me nauseous and we couldn't even eat it. I need to preface this review and say that my husband and I LOVE to have a meal out together, and we truly enjoy getting to know our server. We always look for something good we can say, but this place was AWFUL. There were no redeeming qualities at all. We sat at the bar since we knew we wanted sushi. The sushi chef (a young man with dyed red hair) barely acknowledged our existence, and there were only 3 other customers in the entire restaurant. We asked him several questions, and each time, he completely ignored us. Our server was equally devoid of personality. We ordered three rolls with the idea that we would order something else a little while later. The rolls were not good. I actually couldn't taste the difference between the salmon skin roll and the eel cucumber roll. We didn't order anything else (although we left a nice, completely undeserved tip), and when we left and said goodbye, all of the employees ignored us. We walked down to Rio Grande and had more food. I will never visit this restaurant again. read more
