    Roll R10: Lucky 7

Ichiban is a chill restaurant inside Arden Mall and the employees are nice. I would have given 4 stars because they do have decent sushi but when I ate the sushi, you can taste the cleaning solution that they use. I felt like gagging while eating the sushi.

    Bulgogi + yakisoba noodles

I tried this place for Saturday lunch for the first time. Curiously there wasn't a line. I got the rice + yakisoba noodle + bulgogi bowl. The presentation was underwhelming with bland colors. It would have been nice to have some green vegetables. It tasted good though. The rice was warm and the meat was well flavored. The noodles were bland. Will not be back.

Udon with tempura - SO GOOOOOD!!!
    Tom C.

Experienced this place as a need to eat location at the mall; deviating from the normal stuff. It was a treat to find a place that had some original and very fresh food that fed the senses and the taste buds weren't left out by no means. The udon and tempura combo I ordered was flavorful, a ton of food, tempura everything was amazing. And for $12? A steal for what you got! My only issue - speed of preparation. Not sure if this was typical or if standard preparation time, but it seemed a bit long for not too many orders ahead of me. I'll check them out again soon and see if the experience is the same. All the same... for a "mall spot," impressive!!!

This isn't the first place I would think of if I want to eat sushi. I prefer your traditional, simple, fresh good quality raw fish with well made rice without all the sauce. My family happened to stop by Arden Mall, craving for sushi, but had no time, so we end up ordering here. The menu has an array of option which consists of Japanese and Korean style food. We ordered the following: 1. Spicy Jimmy Roll 2. Cherry Blossom Roll 3. Udon Vegetable Noodles w/Tempura The rolls were decent, but it was drenched in sauce. Overly sweet for me, but I get it, it appeals to the mass. Before I developed more refined sushi/sashimi/nigiri flavor profile, I liked a roll with all that sauce and more. Next time, I'll ask them to put the sauce on the side or no sauce at all. Otherwise, the fish and roll itself wasn't bad. Fish and rice ratio and amount of fish used was good, price is reasonable. The Udon Noodles wasn't the best, but it is an easy option for little kids who love their noodles. Tempura was nice and crispy. The cashier who took my order was friendly, helpful, and great! For being a fast mall court food option, I'm glad Ichiban Sushi is there and wouldn't mind coming back again. It is convenient and good for kids. Tip: when ordering rolls, ask for sauce on the side.

    Sesame chicken bento

This is your typical, very basic, Japanese "fast food" food court style of food. I ordered the Sesame chicken bento, which was prepared fairly quick. What I liked in this whole set was actually just the chicken as it came out hot, and just fried...and it was pretty crispy and tasty. Not too bad! But I felt there was too much rice (maybe because I'm not a huge rice eater), and the sushi was just a very simple "California roll" mixed crabmeat with avocado - which was not very wow for the price. I found it strange that this outlet was selling fries too! Maybe...it's not so Japanese lol. I mean, it is what it is, does the job for the rating I've given. The restaurant is located at quite a nice mall, at a food court which is not too crowded on a weekday.

More mayonnaise than a McChicken Sandwich

Okay im beginning to doubt the legitimacy of these other 4-5 star reviews. First of all, if you're eating at a SUSHI place and ONLY eating california rolls, chicken teriyaki, and Ramen, your review holds no weight. You need to eat the ACTUAL SUSHI and then tell your story. I ordered the rainbow roll and the Rock n Roll. I knew ordering fish in the mall was a bad idea... but I'm an idiot. The funny thing is, I couldnt even tell if the fish was bad or not..because there was SO. MUCH. SAUCE. like is that the new strategy? Cover up bad fish by bombarding it with sauce? This was the rainbow roll. The Rock n roll also had sauce, but at least the flavor was better and didnt make it seem like im eating a McChicken Roll from a Japanese McDonalds. The ONLY reason they don't get 1 star is because it was quick and the service wasn't terrible.

    Korean Corn dog
    DeVanay H.

I honestly never tried a Korean corn dog before this place and I can say on the first try they messed up my order which was fairly simple so that was a bummer instead of giving me half beef and mozzarella they gave all mozzarella and one regular beef though the first one was supposed to be half and half so the worker had to ask the boss what to do when it's very simple take the one back that you guys messed up on and make it right since I did pay money for what I specifically wanted. Lastly what really made me cringe is they don't give free refills you have to pay 75 cents per fill which is a bit ridiculous for all the money you spend here I should get at least a second refill free to top that off they also don't give out water cups talk about hospitality. I would recommend this place if you're truly interested in trying Korean corn dogs otherwise make them yourself.

Saturday afternoon in the mall so there was a line but it moved pretty quickly. Didn't expect restaurant quality at a mall food court! They offered an assortment of boxes, rolls, meal options and drinks to choose from. We tried the beef teriyaki bento box, mixed tempura and the deep fried crunch roll (soy wrapped) with 2 fountain drinks, total was $46. Large servings, Food all tasted delicious & freshly made, vegetable and shrimp tempura were cooked just right tender on the inside and crispy on the outside, they gave plenty of sauces on the side and free refills on the drinks. We were pleasantly surprised, we'll be back im sure.

Service is crap, the rice was not cooked and the seaweed in the sushi was stale. I don't recommend this place to anyone!

Not the greatest sushi. It's basically what you expect for at the mall. The rolls are made too large and it's coming apart.

Apps: Hamachi Crudo and Miso Yaki Black Cod I knew the Hamachi was probably going to be meh, but ordered anyway. It was something that I felt like we could all split and have a bite or two of without having to wait too long. Mind you youre paying $4 per slice of dressed up sashimi here. The Black Cod....my guy..... worth every penny. The summer squash soubise alone I could just drown in. Beyond that we opted for the 10 piece nigiri set then followed up with various cuts of other nigiri. Everything was very good, as to be expected. Only negative is the price. Even high end, alot of the stuff is over priced. That would be my only real complaint. A good treat, but wouldn't come outside of a special occassion.
