I got 2 pancakes when the menu said 3. The waiter told me that his manager said it's only 2 after he brought me my meal. Until you correct the menu, bring me what I ordered! Did the manager also tell you to bring me a bland omelette and not refill my water a single time? When the cashier asked how my meal was. I said "not very good". She replied with "oh,oh" and that was the end of that customer service effort. This is basically a live tweet of my experience tonight, as I'm still here...keep in mind I work in a restaurant, so I'm a pretty patient person when I go out. Seated after a few minutes by the manager, my boyfriend and I were in no particular hurry. But our waitress....Christin. First she never even bothered introducing herself. It took 7 (seven!!) minutes before she even took our drink order. Thirteen minutes later, our waitress has passed several different times and still no drinks. So we've been waiting for 20 minutes for two sodas. Turns out she was waiting to bring the drinks for all three of her tables at once (refills for the other two). After that she took our order. Food came out relatively quickly but I'm not sure the kitchen knows what "over medium" means. I was super irritated when the waitress said "aren't you glad I can multitask?" while dropping our food. Because no, ma'am, clearly you cannot multitask. Waitress did not stop by to check on us until after my boyfriend had finished his food, dropping the check without a word. That was irritating as she had just schmoozed the table next to us, telling them how wonderful they were and thanking them for their patience. After dropping the bill, she checked on us three times...literally every two minutes to see if we were ready to leave. Since when visiting a fast food establishment turns into a fancy restaurant experience? My major complaint is about the hostess. She is one very unhappy person. I requested a table for two and was told the wait would be 20 mins. We got seated 30 mins later after I came up to the hostess to ask about my turn. By then she called 2 parties of two who came after me. I guess she just didn't like my face, and was trying to make her unhappy, miserable day a bit brighter by making me wait. I hope she gets her satisfaction one day and will look a bit more welcoming since she is the first person you see as you enter the place! It's iHop--food is always great. My best friend and I went here for finals week and studied for dinner. Upon walking in, there was no one ready at the podium so we kind of just stood there awkwardly thinking, "uhhhh... hello? Should we leave? Walk back in like nothing happened?" The girl who was getting to seat us wiped her mouth and tucked her phone in and welcomed us. Oh well. Our server was a nice guy, though. Funny and friendly! The food here is always great, and thats how I give out the stars, primarily based on food quality. All else comes after. It does take a while for the waiter/resses to get your order, even on a quiet day, so that's the largest issue. Otherwise, they can even make the eggs without the yolk (which is healthier!) so that's always nice for health nuts. read more

We eat here a lot. Nice view and food is good. Don't know why you can't get an omelet without pancake batter in it but hey.? My complaint is bad. service, no team work. I blame management, I sat down on a Monday morning with my wife and waited 5 min for a waitress to say hello and then she could not take even a coffee order. A few more minutes she took our full order and coffee order. We waited 11 min no coffee until I flagged her down and then she brought it out in about 5 more minutes with our food. Food was good, service was acceptable but if over 55 be careful. I'm a 60 year old bald man with a white beard and my wife is only a year younger. She pointed to the 55+ menu while ordering & I got the same. When our bill came we were charged the normal menu price and our server said it couldn't be changed once already entered. She was able to give a senior discount (why she could do that and not make other changes didn't make sense) but the total was still more than it should have been. She said we needed to ask for the 55+, I guess pointing to it and clearly looking the part wasn't enough! read more

I went to this IHOP today (3/13/21) and the food was mediocre which is expected, but the service was atrocious. Our server Alisa was extremely apathetic and slow. Our table asked for salsa, gravy, and syrup and her was response was rolling her eyes. Around ten minutes after ordering, they finally came out and said that something we ordered was out, when asked for a menu, our server rolled her eyes again. Service and staff are decent to good, seating and comfort is good, Nice bathroom, and when you sit near the south part of the place, you get a nice view of the beach. Parking however is a mess. When it's packed you can barely get a spot in their parking lot, so then you have to parking on the street next to the hotel that is next to the place. Wanted to do and early morning drive down the Seawall since it's such a beautiful day. Decided to grab breakfast at The Dutch Kettle but it was closed...which is strange it's supposed to be 24 hours. Anyway drove on down to iHop. This place gets packed on weekends but at 7:15am there was no wait even tho there were several Paton eating. Plenty of seat but of course the hostess tries to sit me in a dark spot by the kitchen at a table next to some construction workers...why do they always seem to do that? I ask for a different spot and she took me to a nice table by the window over looking the ocean. The hostess took my drink order and the waitress brought over my coffee and water right away. People lined up to eat here for standard IHOP fare. My friend wanted to relive memories so we waited to be seated. Hospitality at the door was minimal but service at the table was great. Lisa was friendly and accommodating. We ordered off the 55+ menu. Beware of the omelettes though if you want emu ingredients the cost .69 cents each. The waiter seemed like she was having a bad day so we didn't want to put much on her.. We ordered our food (spent 60$) she brought it to us, but never came to check on us. It's an IHOP. It's not a fancy establishment. Never has been, never will be. If you go in here thinking it will be in any way, turn around and go to Landry's. We were craving breakfast for dinner. I love those nights when I was a kid and my parents would surprise us with pancakes for dinner. It was a great treat! Since neither of our parents live anywhere close to us we have to rely on IHOP for those purposes. We had a great waitress. It was like the diner experience where she called you "baby" and "honey" in her Southern accent. She was very sweet and very attentive to us, even after a bunch of tables sat after us. I ordered a breakfast sampler where I got to try a little bit of everything. The thing I love about IHOP is they carry turkey bacon. This girl cant eat pork for health reasons so I love when restaurants offer a turkey or chicken sausage/bacon option. I also love the five different syrup flavors. I tried them all. The strawberry and butter pecan are my favorites. Bottom line, it's great for what it is and it's centrally located on the Seawall and is usually less crowded than other restaurants during dinner time. read more

We stopped in at this IHOP for dinner on a Monday night about 7pm the week of spring break. It was not busy. We were a party of 4 so we had a variety of food. It was mediocre at best. I had the meat omelet with hash browns. The beef in the omelet seemed like it was days old and the omelet was very rubbery. The kids didn't even like the cholate milk. This is by far one of the worst Ihop's I have visited. The food quality and freshness is never there. The pancakes come out dry, hard and over cooked. The worst part is I've visited here twice and BOTH times our food was served cold. The scrambled eggs were dry and again too hard or over cooked. The food was pretty bland and boring, but nothing really bad. Between the two of us, we ordered four things and the waitress brought out half of them wrong -- but we didn't make a fuss and just made due with what they brought us. But everyone was friendly and we left satisfied -- if not impressed. My Nieces and I were visiting Galveston and my youngest has sever food allergies. We know that Ihop's menu has some items she can eat so we stopped in there. To our amazement the staff from the manager to our waitress and the cook were diligent in ensuring that my nieces food was free of allergens. The manager took extra effort in identifying the ingredients and even knew they changed their recipe for the hash browns recently and let me know before they started cooking so that we could make an informed decision. She even came by and checked on us multiple times. The waitress brought her food separate, checked in with her frequently and was very friendly. We ordered a meal that came with pancakes so that another household member could eat them later but the cook did not send them. The waitress had to explain that we were not giving them to my niece. and to put them in a to go box. we overheard the conversation. She went to get them he said well they have flour and she had to tell him we were not going to feed the pancakes to her. It was entertaining In all the times we have ventured out for dinner I have never experienced a staff that collectively was so concerned for my nieces health. I highly recommend this Ihop location. I am even willing to travel the 25 miles visit this location more often. Oh yea, not only were they very accommodating and expressed genuine care the food we ordered was cooked perfectly and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive.
