Moldy pancakes
Hermes L.

I placed an online order and arrived about 10 minutes after my scheduled pickup time, expecting it to be ready. When I arrived, I was told the order still wasn't ready and ended up waiting an additional 10-15 minutes. When I finally received my food, I asked for some of the butter that's served in the restaurant (not the prepackaged kind), since I prefer it. I was only given one small butter for five pancakes, which was disappointing. The food quality was unacceptable. My fries were cold and soggy, and worst of all, the pancakes were completely inedible because they had mold on them. This is a serious food safety issue. I called the restaurant to speak with a manager and was placed on hold for over 15 minutes. I hung up and called back, only to be put on hold again. Given how bad the experience already was and that my food was ruined, this was extremely frustrating. Overall, this was a very poor experience from start to finish, and I'm very disappointed.

I ordered through DoorDash. To make the situation right, I asked for a gift card for the amount. It wasn't possible. And I kinda dislike it.a.lot! So, these are the last dollars and cents iHop gets from me. Dennys had a better rating. Next time I'm ordering from there. Cuz this ain't it.

I haven't been to an ihop in a while but decided to drop by and the place was full but welcoming and clean. My sons ordered from the kids menu and they enjoyed the burger, fries and happy face pancake. The kids also dine for free before 10 pm with a paid adult so that was convenient. Our server was Alfonso and he was very friendly and helpful. He was prompt despite a busy evening. They also had a beautiful Christmas three at the entrance which my kids really enjoyed seeing. They have two seating areas in case you have a big party.

I came here on a weekday morning. I was very surprised by how busy it was since it wasn't the weekend yet. We waited ten minutes before we got a table. Service was patient as we were taking a while to decide what to order. We ordered the Avocado Toast, Cinnamon Bun Crepes, and Colorado Omelette. The avocado toast look very basic for that price. The crepes and omelette were excellent and delicious and can feed two people. The pancakes came with the omelette. Very good food and company. And easy to find parking.

So fresh on a Christmas morning!

Dalia just made our Christmas morning. She's so sweet and genuine and just on top of everything. Having to work Christmas morning might seem like a drag but she had a great attitude about it and was very spirited with all the guests. Couldn't help but notice her cute snowman earrings as well! Still love the pancakes at IHOP after some 40 years but generally the rest of the food is hit or miss since we usually drop in during graveyard and there's a terrible limited late night menu. Coming in at 6:30am on Christmas morning we weren't sure what to expect. I ordered an omelette (which has AYCE pancakes) and my husband got the steak tips which had a surprising sweet marinade. Everything was cooked so perfectly and all the ingredients were super fresh. That along with stellar happy service really blew us away. And to top it all off, the Christmas music they were playing on their in-house radio were all renditions I've never heard before of classic Christmas songs and they were all so wonderful. Truly an amazing Christmas morning for us. On the whole, service and staff is wonderful at this location especially with long timers like Alfonso and Noelia. We've also known Dom a long time from another restaurant he used to work at and he takes great care of us too. Today we'll add Dalia to that list and hopefully catch her again.

Open 24hrs.....but not really

came here at 530am on a Tuesday, they were not open. Directly under a sign that says open 24 hrs, there is a locked door. Ridiculous!! just disheartening when you can't count on your breakfast place to be open when they say they will. This place, when it is opened, is just average. The inviting part is that it is open for people in the medical field that have odd hours, and crave pancakes at 5am. Well, i am sorry to say that i will mo longer frequent this place if i cant rely on them to be open.

A really good breakfast to choose service was friendly. Ambience was a little too crowded, but overall the best IHOP in my opinion.

Salmon w/2-side: broccoli n mashed potatoes. This is my most favorite dish! Good value n nutritious.

Ham n Cheese Omelet $6 happy hour p special w/ choice of pancakes or fruits. For the price wise, this is a 4-star deal For regular price, this is 2-star. Omelet is bland. Omelet cooked rather than dry like an egg pancake. A Moisturized omelet wd be much better. But this happy hour price is in-beatable Service is always good in this location.

This time my husband got the Granada which was recommended to us by Henry and I got my usual Legendary. Both sandwiches were packed with meat/ chicken and on top of that they both came out hot and ready to devour. The bread was succulent and a good amount of mayo and ketchup was added. All in all this is the experience we had been wanting to have and I'm so glad we went back. Thank you to Henry, again, for going out of his way to make us feel welcomed and well attended. However, I went for a second time yesterday and was deeply disappointed. The owner wasn't there and instead a younger girl took my order and prepared the food. Everything seemed well and fine until I got home, opened my patty melt and found not 1 but 2 long hairs in my sandwich! They were clearly her hairs since she was the only one who handled my food. I went back and returned everything. I didn't see a hair in my other sandwich but couldn't even eat it without thinking what could be in each bite. The same girl was there when I returned and a young guy. I spoke with the guy and he gave me a refund right away and apologized. The girl who had made my food was maybe 5 feet away and couldn't even turn around to look at me or apologize. Very disappointing since the owner seemed like a nice guy who probably works extremely hard to build and maintain his business, only to have it ruined by some employee who couldn't even care enough to take 5 sec to put on a hair net. Shame on her.

The owners are always welcoming, friendly, and genuinely make every customer feel at home. Their customer service is exceptional and one of the main reasons my family and I keep coming back. The food is amazing! Their chicharrón burrito is the best I've had, and the chilaquiles are always fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Their coffee is just as impressive--they roast their own beans, make their own café de olla syrup, and you can even buy their coffee beans to enjoy at home. Every cup tastes fresh, rich, and authentic. I also love the atmosphere. The artwork throughout the shop is beautiful and gives the space so much personality. It's the kind of place where you want to sit, relax, and enjoy your coffee. Another thing I appreciate is that their prices are more affordable than many other coffee shops, especially considering the quality of the food, coffee, and service. My kids absolutely love coming here, and it's become one of our favorite family spots. If you're in Boyle Heights and looking for incredible coffee, delicious food, beautiful local art, fair prices, and some of the kindest people you'll ever meet, Picaresca is a must-visit. I do recommend trying it if its your first time and want something not so heavy. I like the chilaquiles, its better when you add a fried egg. Soo yummy, savory, and flavorful! As for the coffee, if you like a pick me up... and a coffee that isn't sweet but strong. I suggest a refresher drink (tonics). The coffee is sugary and you unfortunately cant taste some of the coffee. If that's your preference, we'll i recommend. Besides that, the environment is lovely and art they have. We had the seafood pasta which was very tasty. The sauce has plenty of flavor and kick, and there is a lot of fresh seafood provided, including mussels and shrimp. Also had the lamb chops, which is one of their most popular dishes, and I can see why. The lamb was cooked perfectly, soft juicy, super easy to eat. I loved that there was chimichurri sauce provided on the side and it went well with everything, including the mashed potatoes and vegetables. This is definitely worth a revisit for any future special occasions!

Seeing the server and an Asian staff coming out from kitchen confirmed that the cooking wasn't fully American taste bud. But that is the reason why it hit me very well. Honestly, whether you have American or fusion or Asian taste bud, the taste quality is better than some average American restaurants. I tried the butter squash soup, lamp chop, and bow tie pasta with chicken. I was enjoying my soup and lamp chop a lot. The pasta was pleasant to me, but it wasn't exceptionally great compared to the lamp chop. My fiancé loved the pasta though, saying that the sauce wasn't overwhelming. It is not a cheap place to come for, but it is because the food and drinks (good white wine) have quality. The wait for the entrees was a little long, even though it wasn't that busy. I believe it was the chef spending time to make sure each dish was done well, unlike the busy restaurant where chefs only follow the restaurant's recipes to make it quick and easy. Lastly, the ambience was okay, but it was more an older fine dining/family owned style. It had some nostalgic vibe if you'd take it that way. Keep it up. I really hope it will be there forever long.

Apparently they've been open about 3 years, but all the buzz, accolades and crowds seem more recent than that. Reservations can be tough to secure, but recommended. We had a 5:30 opening time res, and I was quite surprised by the length of the separate line for walk-ins. But it appears they all made it in. Their next-door bar only seats walk-ins. Restaurant guests can wait here, but they also have a limited menu that includes several of the popular dishes (like the cornbread) and also a bar-only hangar steak, which replaced the highly lauded bar-only burger. Eagle Rock Blvd is a wide multi-lane street with a center median/parkway. The restaurant has a valet; street parking can be difficult as there are homes and apartments on the side streets. Eagle Rock Blvd has some parking, but across the blvd is FAR and hazardous to cross. A better bet is Bushwick St. behind the restaurant. There aren't a whole lot of businesses nearby, but on Dunsmoor's block there's a bar (The Grant) and a breakfast/lunch/bakery spot (Bub & Grandma's) where Dunsmoor gets their bread. Dunsmoor's Spanish Revival corner space is impressive and lovely. Chef-owner Brian Dunsmoor grew up in Georgia, but the cuisine here is "American Heritage" with definite Southern touches and of course California's abundant purveyors/farms. The menu seems highly seasonal and earthy; I doubt they use tweezers to plate the food here! The space has individual 2-top tables along 2 sides, the middle of the space has 3 long communal tables. There's counter seating right in front of the open fire (great view but hot) and a few more to the right. The fire is a further distance away from counter guests here vs. the spacing at Betsy in Altadena, another live-fire spot. Dunsmoor also has a back kitchen where non-fire dishes are done. We ordered a lot: 1) House Meyer lemonade. Dunsmoor's spirit-free beverage selection is limited. but the lemonade was great, sparkly. Their wine list is pretty large. 2) Chopped chicken liver with bacon, rosemary, onion preserves. Served with bread from Bub & Grandma's. Delish. The thought the rosemary would be overpowering but it wasn't. 3) Edna's sour milk cornbread. Pretty much seen on every table. Cheddar and Hatch chiles flecked through the bread, topped with a mound of melting cultured butter and honey cascading like waterfalls over the sides. A must order. Not spicy at all, thankfully. 4) Regier Farms yellow peaches with farmers cheese, different basils and olive oil. Summer on a plate! The peaches were exquisite. Clearly a seasonal dish. 5) Carolina Gold rice with shrimp and corn. A delish cross between risotto and grits. There was lots of cheese too. An ode to the South. 6) Aunt Emmy's pork and green chili stew. Another top-seller. Homey and substantial, with a slight kick and fabulous house-made tortillas. 7) Beef ribeye with smoked bone marrow and sea salt. Definitely shareable, it's prepared medium rare unless otherwise told. Our slice had a bit of gristle, but it was well prepared. We placed the smoky-rich marrow on top of the steak as recommended. The sea salt was not needed. Would love to try the pork chop and duck someday. 8) Sliced Cherokee tomatoes, simply dressed with apple vinegar, olive oil and sea salt. Another winning seasonal dish. The also have a tomato Caesar dish with more ingredients. 9) Sticky date pudding. Well done moist version of a classic, served in a cast iron dish with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream. Would have loved to try the seasonal stone fruit and blackberry cobbler and the hand-churned ice cream, which on this night was cantaloupe! Overall an excellent and substantial meal. Unlike some past reviews, the service was fine and very friendly.
