So it's IHOP. I should clarify that I am rating them based on the level you rate all big, low-to-medium priced chains (Denny's, Shari's (that one might not be so big), Shoney's, etc), so please don't think even for a moment that my four-star rating means they're equal to other restaurants I've rated as four-stars. Is this even allowed? Am I bucking the ratings system? W/e. Anyway. This IHOP is right across from where I live, and when I'm too impatient to make anything for myself, which is more often than I care to admit, I sometimes go to IHOP. Since I have a strange, student's schedule, usually when I go there's, like, no one there. Except for, of course, the other old people who are having dinner at three in the afternoon before they go home and go to bed. Except for me that's usually breakfast, not dinner. Anyway, the service has been consistent and the nice server Virgil and I just today had a pleasant chat about our iPods. So concerned was he with the nakedness of mine that he suggested I get a cover in case I should drop it and it sustain considerable damage. My only complaint is that they (a few people every visit) always ask me how everything was. I really shouldn't complain about that, but whenever they ask, I want to be like, 'Well, it's IHOP...what can I say?'. But the service is good and my food has never been FUBAR. read more

Been here a few times now. As other reviewers have said... it's IHOP. The servers are nice enough and I've never had bad food. It's cheap, and filling, and comes out quickly. I've never seen it remotely crowded. Note that this IHOP is *not* 24 hours, like a Denny's. They open at 6am. I cut it close this morning, showing up at 6:30. Oh man. Coming to IHOP was strictly for the 'free' short stack after a Seahawks win. My husband & I joked that we were in for it and we sure were once we walked in. There was one elderly lady who worked the 'cashier' line at the front as well as seated folks. She told us that we'd have to wait while she finished ringing someone out and then seating another guest ahead of us. We were in no rush but little did we know what was coming. We were seated and she took our drink order. We quickly ordered without looking at the menu since she was rushing us to order 'now'. That was the last we saw service for about 15 mins. We were perplexed as we wanted to order sides to go with our pancakes but they were nowhere to be found on the menu. When our server finally arrived to take our order, she told me that the sides weren't on the menu and asked what I wanted. I ordered a side of sausage and some eggs but it would've been nice to know the prices beforehand (aka.. I don't like paying $3 for 2 eggs). Overall, I wouldn't come back as most IHOPS are pretty full of children (which this one was) and slow service. I had a craving for waffles and IHOP 1-upped it by having Chicken and Waffles on their menu! I went there for lunch. There was an average amount of people dining. We were seated and tended to immediately. Our server, Lee, was very gracious and quick. The limited time offer of all-you-can-eat pancakes was a bonus! After reading some of the less-than-desirable reviews, I fortunately found that this was not the case with our service and food. Nothing was too oily, sweet, or salty. My chicken was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside and definitely not too salty (how chicken is usually messed up for me). I have a pecan allergy but decided to try for the first time the butter pecan syrup for my waffles. I absolutely loved it! The timing of the food and beverage service was impeccable. We never had to wait and ask for our waters to be refilled or for the next round of pancakes. The pancakes always came out warm and fluffy as if the staff/cook paced our eating. I'm definitely going to return to this location for my next chicken and waffle craving... and any new butter pecan syrup cravings! I only wish this location was open 24 hours as my cravings usually hit me during vampire hours. read more

Well it looks like you have to give at lease 1 full star, we should be able to give out less... Went in this afternoon about 12:30, we got out seats almost immediately (restaurant was not busy), the manager came over serves us coffee (which is good) and told us our waiter will take our orders soon... After 20 mins and watching the staff pass us, make eye contact, and help out other tables (with no one saying anything to is), we decided to leave... Didn't want to just walk out since we drank coffee. I asked how much for 2 cups of coffee (plain)... That's when there very eager to charge me $6.11 (Starbucks does not change that much for a cup of coffee). After the bad service and being ignored for 20 mins I was not going to pay that much for plain coffee. Spoke to the manager on duty and again nice guy, offered to comp our meal if we sit down again (nice gesture) but told him no thanks, I appreciate it but not going to wait any longer (and do not want to risk getting the "special" ingredients) If you have the patience to wait more than 30 mins to go this IHOP please go. The omelette l ordered came as specified, and was good: four stars for the food. However.... I had to wait quite some time after being seated for my order to be taken, and they were not that busy. It was around 8:30 - 9:00 AM, and they didn't seem to be short-staffed, just slow. I asked whether there was an AARP discount; can't hurt to ask. Surprisingly, the manager said he could take 5% off, went off and redid my check. The new check was exactly the amount of the original check, with no discount mentioned on either check. Now, IHOP is perfectly within its rights to say, "No, I'm sorry but there is no such discount." I would have accepted that. In fact, l did; I paid without further comment. But either someone was trying to slip one by me or wasn't skilled enough to do what he said he'd do...and in either case, on top of the slow service, I'll not return for a while, if ever. The IHOP at Aurora really disappoints me with their service. I am a big IHOP fan and the only reason why I keep coming back is their amazing pancakes! The only thing that frustrates me most is the horrible service especially at this particular franchise. See the waiters and waitresses are really nice, but the kitchen staff--really? I think there needs to be better time-management or task-management in the kitchen. My friend and I dined here before where we waited almost an hour for our meal. Guess what we ordered? A short stack + eggs + bacon. Are you kidding me? Even the dude who came after us had his meal served first. Not coming back for a very very long time. While waiting for a table, I reviewed the menu. When I was led to the table, the waiter made a big deal about wiping down the seat before I sat down (it seemed clean to me) but left the ugly spatters on the syrup holder, that looked like they had been there a while, and would require some serious scrubbing to get off. The pancakes were too salty, and also had a metallic taste to them. The syrup tasted like chemicalized sugar water. The water tasted oily. My simple breakfast of three eggs, three pancakes and a slice of ham cost $11 with tax and tip. I came here the other morning because I needed to kill some time before going to a movie in the same shopping center. The service here is about what you expect from an IHOP. My server was nice and spoke Spanish so I spoke it to her in hopes it would get me an advantage over everyone else but nope, I still had to wait a while for my food and she only brought me water once... But as I said, I was expecting this kind of service so I am not going to dwell on it. I went with the chicken fried steak as always. You just can't go wrong with that. They had a nice platter I wanted to try which I might next time that was a rendition of the sampler plate but, with regular and huge sausage. I didn't know they now have the bigger juicer sausage here so I got it on the side of my steak and let me tell ya it was delicious. Yea, I didn't expect to write a novel on IHOP, basically, I was just happy to hear there was a place near me that serves breakfast all day. Sad thing is that I don't think this location is 24 hours. IHOP food is IHOP food, so this isn't a 5-star rating saying that you'll get gourmet food here. But compared to other places like it, this IHOP location is a serious step up -- especially for anyone out with young kids. The staff are the most truly child friendly of any place we've been in town, and my two year-old always leaves feeling like the waiters and bus staff are his new buddies. They are accommodating with special menu requests and allergies, and on top of that, the kitchen is wonderfully consistent -- for example, I can ask for a side of bacon done crispy, and it will be exactly as I like it best, no matter what day or time we come. We came to Seattle as my husband (Army vet) is having surgery, we ordered delivery and though the deliver driver was very nice what we got from IHOP on Aurora Ave N restaurant was very disappointing. First we ordered 2 dinners and got ONE SET OF UTENSILS, you cannot eat steak and eggs with your fingers especially when you order chicken fried steak and eggs with gravy on top. Then with that we had to take the pancakes (which I didn't want but was required to) so I got the chocolate chocolate chip pancakes with the chocolate syrup. They gave so little of the chocolate syrup it wouldn't have filled a teaspoon, it wasn't worth putting it on as it didn't do anything for the pancakes which were very dry I couldn't eat it. The gravy for my chicken fried steak had way too much pepper I couldn't eat but a few bites them had to stop. For a meal that cost me over 50 dollars, not including the tip for the delivery driver, it should have been a lot better. read more

Visited Friday morning at 10am and the place was busy! Even during a remodeling project. Staff was amazing - attentive, organized, professional. I was so impressed! And then the food arrived. Wow! I had a ham-and-cheese omelette and my daughter had the bananas foster French toast. Both were SO good! Kudos to the manager. When he saw that our waitress was a bit busy and hadn't taken our order (we hadn't been waiting long at all), he wrote down our order. The food arrived soon thereafter (delicious) and he stopped back by to make sure it had all come out as we requested. Plus, I heard him tell the kitchen staff that they were doing a great job. High. Fructose. Corn. Syrup. Grease. Salt. If that sounds delicious, you should definitely go to IHOP. My first experience at an IHOP occurred recently. I was assured that it was 'good for breakfast'. Now, I consider myself to be a bit of a breakfast snob. I like a good chuckwagon breakfast; the crispy, delicious hash you'd find at an old-fashioned diner; I love breakfast, probably more than any meal. Back in Ohio, we have this chain called 'Bob Evans'. The quality went down, over the years, but for a while, this place was incredible. If you were into homestead breakfast (sausage gravy and fresh biscuits, homefries and so forth), this was the place to be. And like I mentioned: it was a big chain. And out of probably hundreds of visits, I probably only encountered three bad meals. Now, back to IHOP: First, our glasses were filthy, with what appeared to be either bits of hardened egg or boogers on the outer rims. Disgusting. The waitress, who was putting on the bullshit act (and I feel for you, working at that job) seemed to not believe us, at first. After a double-take, our glasses were replaced. The service was somewhat slow, but the place is so understaffed, that I can understand. The entire restaurant was being manned by two women and a single cook. Secondly, everything is cooked in oil, and nothing is seasoned. The hashbrowns? Well, they take pre-shredded frozen potatoes and drop them into a grease pan. After about thirty seconds, the non-crispy, soggy potatoes are put onto your plate. Eggs? Same treatment. Drop them in some hot oil, done in a second. The meat, I'm sure, was filled with hormones. It wasn't particularly tasty, either. Everything about the meal was abhorrent, and it left me feeling hungrier than I had going into the place. I mean, how hard is it to make a decent breakfast? Crisp those potatoes up a bit, and maybe use less oil. If it's not beyond your capability, throw some herbs in there, or maybe bits of onion; do anything besides this. I realize that I'm complaining about the lowest common denominator in restaurants, but again, I come from a childhood of having delicious breakfast chains. Everything at IHOP was greasy and bland. The only thing that was even remotely edible - ironically - were the pancakes. And even those were a HFCS nightmare. IHOP is - and I hate to say this - a step below Denny's. Find a decent mom-n-pop dive or diner before you resort to this place. read more

I came to this fine establishment expecting to receive a good amount of decent breakfast food for a price that wouldn't leave me out the door, crying. Instead it did just that. As a group of three young people, we ordered a tall stack of pancakes and a side of fries, expecting that to be enough to begin to feed at least a little bit of our malnourished bodies. We were going to split the bill so it wasn't breaking the bank, when the side of fries reached our table, it look like a toddler had taken their biggest handful of shitty French fries and ploped it half hazardly on a dish. It was probably less than a McDonald's small. We were sitting there in shock and disappointment, but we thanked the nice waitress anyway. When we received the hefty bill, the XX-Small side of fries revealed itself to be a whopping $6! On top of the preexisting expensive tack of normal pancakes, this made our bill ridiculous- even though we still wanted to tip the waitress because we fucking care about working class people and don't want their salary to be determined by the stingy bourgeoisie. Came here about a month ago and received the poorest service I have ever gotten at a restaurant. Our server stood behind the counter up front texting for five minutes before offering us menus and a seat, threw coffees onto our table, so that it spilled, made us hunt her down after 20 minutes to have our order taken, and then rolled her eyes and was incredibly rude when I handed her my card before she brought the bill. I just wanted to yell- I've been done with my food and staring at you for ten minutes while you texted, what the heck are you doing here when obviously there is something super important going on outside of work that requires your attention?! She charged me for extras on my meal that I didn't even receive (despite asking twice), slammed everything onto my table, and stood by the coffee pots texting and talking on her phone. We were the only people here and should not have encountered such slow service and such horrible attitude. I wrote the company on their corporate website the day after our visit, and was ignored. I've called the restaurant twice, my calls have gone unanswered. Save yourself the extra money and the bad attitude from the red headed waitress and go to Patty's Eggnest where they care about their customers. read more

The 2nd set of pancakes (unlimited pancakes yay?) were better, but still not that good. The pancakes were super super salty. Really not what pancakes should taste like. The waiter took the cup of water to refill it. And hasn't come back for 10 mins. Which I really don't understand. I guess it's understandable considering there's one server for the entire place and there's probably 10 tables and a part of 20 people. I was waiting to be seated for 10 minutes before I even saw an employee. We've been waiting for the pancake refill for 20 mins and waiting to pay for just as long. But somehow, the table next to me got to pay their bill immediate. My card has been on the bill on the table for 20 minutes. They server looked right at the card, and walked away. But took the other table's card first? Such bad service. I had to ask the chef that came out for a box. That's how bad it is. How ridiculous is it that the chef has to be my server. And unlimited pancakes? I wish. They've taken so long to bring the next plate out, I'm just leaving. It's not worth waiting 30 minutes for 2 crappy pancakes anyway. I won't come back here for sure. Went today and got country fried steak and eggs. Seems like the pancake mix was mixed incorrectly bc the pancakes tasted a little off, maybe a tad salty or something? The steak was the usual, as was the gravy. The hash browns had a distinct taste of oil, a little bitter. Not good. Also, the eggs(scrambled), were not done OR mixed well. I am so upset. I walked in last night to put a order in to-go after work. I was starving and crepes sounded great. I paid $17.51 for 2 crepes 2 eggs, a table spoon of hash browns and mini bacon. I ordered two extra crepes that never made it to my order. I am blown away. I gave the waiter $25.00 because I know that to go orders are a pain. Hey if you're not a complete snob you'll probably enjoy this place. Michelin star status....nope. But good traditional American "greasy spoon" "dive" fare....absolutely and it's really good. I've tried a lot of the food here and whatever you order on the menu is probably going to come really close to what you had in mind. It will probably taste pretty good too. I had the opportunity to meet the GM last time I went as well. The guy's name is Mike. Nice dude. Look for two shiny hoop earrings. Upon meeting him I gave him a little test to see what kind of manager he was. When I initially ordered my food the waiting room was packed with people. I ran to Starbucks and came back and it was all empty. I told how swell I thought he had his team performing and he agreed with me and kept it positive. He gave a supreme amount of credit to his crew like any good captain. If you like to have a nice quiet meal at night the place isn't usually that crowded and you can do some Grade A people watching. Oh Aurora. I am kinda mad at how tight the parking lot is but that isn't huge by any stretch of the imagination. read more

I've been to this IHOP probably 3 or 4 times, and for the most part been happy with the experience. However, this past Sunday I went in for breakfast and it was quite the disaster-breakfast experience. My boyfriend and I waited 20 minutes to be seated; No big deal - It was Sunday morning, after all. After placing our orders with the waitress, she brought out half of only my order within 2 minutes of us placing the order. Cool, right? Not really. Who goes out to eat somewhere only to watch someone else eat while they wait for their food to come? No one....that's who. 20 minutes later, after staring at the now-cold half-order of my meal, the manager finally comes out and tells us that they don't have an any whole wheat pancake mix for one of the orders. She did apologize and asked if we would like something different from the menu, but we chose to go to another local diner, instead (which turned out to be an awesome decision!). The 3 stars I give this IHOP were for the previous times that were good, but I don't think we'll be going here for a while. read more
