Had a great meal here well on vacation! The service was very nice and they were by the table often to ensure we were taken care of. I really enjoyed my fish special! I also had a very good old-fashioned.

I'm not sure how I've never heard of this place before! We came for the first time last month and have already been back. Our first visit was for dinner on the patio, where we enjoyed a great view, good food, and a relaxing atmosphere. The second time, we stopped in for early drinks and appetizers and grabbed seats at the bar. The cocktails good, and the truffle gnocchi with bread was absolutely delicious. The gnocchi was rich, flavorful, and the perfect small plate to share while enjoying a date night. Im sure we will be back again!

This is a romantic place for a date night. I had a great time service was great, food was amazing, and the ambience fit the price on the meals. My only complaint would be if they had anything other than wine or beer to drink I wouldn't had known because I was not shown the drink menu. Overall would return, favorite part was there was plenty of parking and that can be a challenge in Coronado.

Il Fornaio has a beautiful interior made better by the fantastic views of downtown San Diego. It is unfortunate that the food is a bit lacking in flavor. The pasta I ordered just tasted like noodles with oil. The artichoke appetizer was a dish I would especially not recommend as it was just essentially dry leaves with no flavor. One plus side is that Il Fornaio offers a lot of great specials every day of the week. Our server was also really great and brought us over a small ice cream since we were celebrating a graduation. I would be willing to try Il Formaio again but I would have to find a dish more to my liking.

Great service and beautiful view! We got oil and balsamic vinegar with bread to start which was delicious. We ordered pasta and pizza for our main dishes. The rest of the menu looks so good as well. Definitely want to come back for more!

First time. Thursday night, graduations. Sat at the bar, kind of a shitshow.Crappy service, salty ass artichokes, staff didn't know the menu, had to ask management. Never checked on us after appetizers, 20 minutes after ordering main course manager had questions about order. Bread came without butter like requested. Artichokes were salty. Cesar salad was great. Burata salad delicious. Vodka pasta delicious. Salmon delicious. Solid meal, crap service from friendly staff. Do better!

First time trying Fornaio, and it was a great experience. The views of the bay were spectacular and the food was delicious.

Been to this restaurant multiple times and it never disappoints. I have always go during lunch time and when the weather is great I would get seated outside with the nice view. Great service and great food! Rigatoni alla vodka and calamaretti are the top favs.

I love Italian. We came here for my son. He wanted calamari. He gave it a 9 out of 10. I got the gnocchi with wild boar. Paired with an expresso martini. Would highly recommend a seating in between the view & kitchen. As busy as the place is. The whole staff was great with seating & smiles. As a chef myself it was so great to come see the utmost in everything.

Had a great family lunch at Il Fornaio in San Diego! We got there early, so the place was still quiet which was an awesome treat. It actually worked out perfectly because I was able to snap some photos and grab behind-the-scenes video for my Forks UP! series. Loved catching the bar team warming up for the day and the chef getting ready for what turned out to be a great dining experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, elegant with a classic Italian feel that's inviting without being stuffy. Between the big bar and the spacious patio, there's a spot for everyone, whether you're here for a casual lunch, happy hour, or a fancy dinner dated. Now get ready, we ordered a ton (no regrets): Bruschetta: Light, fresh, and full of flavor. Gnocchi Gratinati: Perfectly fluffy and rich -- easily my favorite. Gnocchi al Sugo di Cinghiale: Absolutely delicious -- comforting and hearty. Linguine Mare Chiaro: A seafood lover's dream. Rigatoni alla Vodka: Kid-approved and adult-enjoyed. Pizzas (Fradiavola, Cristina, Margherita): All very good; thin crust, nicely balanced -- just a bit similar to each other. Service was solid, attentive, organized, and everything came out right. While it wasn't the kind of service that makes you feel like family, it was smooth and professional, which made for a relaxing time with our big group. Overall, Il Fornaio is definitely worth checking out if you're in the San Diego area. Great food, pretty setting, and a nice mix of upscale and comfortable. Can't wait to share our full video review soon on our socials at @colefamilyvalues --- stay tuned for that one!

We reserved on Open Table here to bring our friend who was visiting town. Our party of 3 was excited to try this place out. Il Fornaio is on the water in Coronado, right next to Peohe's. We arrived 5min before our 7p reservation time and the hostesses were able to locate our reservation and seat us immediately. We were seated at a wonderful window view dining seat inside. There were air conditioning vents on the window panes that made it chilly for those of us who sat next to the window. The view was great, we had daylight and nightlight dining at this reservation time...bonus! Our server was customer service oriented and he was very attentive. He checked in with us often. We ordered: Bruschetta Asortito for the table, a Papardelle and Chicken dish with creamy sauce, a Pesto Gnocchi dish no meat, a steak entree with gravy, one 0% beer, 1 Old Fashioned, and 1 Tequila drink. Dessert was the "Vulcano" Cake which I thought was spelled wrong, but maybe that is how they spell it in Italian? My Gnocchi Pesto entree was not good at all. There was no pesto flavor. It was brown colored, gravy consistency sauce with flecks of green herbs in it...NOT pesto. The "Bruschetta Asortito" for the table had the correct pesto on one of the breads, but my entree's execution failed. I am a BIG traditional PESTO FAN. The gnocchi also was too soggy. The Old Fashioned drink was made perfectly. Dessert Vulcano Cake was good. The whole party had a lot of gas in the evening, upset stomach at 2am, as well as the day after this meal. For our dining table choice, customer service experience, the drinks, and dessert, I gave 2 stars overall for our dining experience. The food execution, gassy tummies, and upset stomachs after eating here took away 3 stars

Best Italian restaurant with waterfront views on Coronado Island! We came here for a romantic dinner and this restaurant has a wide menu variety with affordable pricing and great service. Easy to come here on a date or family dinner. Highly recommend for those traveling to Coronado island!

We got lucky because a big booth was finishing up when I put my name down for the waitlist. We had the seafood tower (biggest) to share. I got the slab louie. Others got the clam chowder, lobster roll, oyster mushrooms. The oysters were SO good here. Can't go wrong with whichever kind you get. One I had was really fatty but salty and good. Unfortunately I don't remember which one it was. Next time I'll have to pay more attention. Also from the seafood tower, the shrimp was good, the lobster was a nice amount to share. My favorite other than the oysters was the sea bass dip thing. The ceviche was fine, nothing too special. The smoked fish dip was my least favorite because it just reminded me of tuna salad but fancy. I didn't try the tuna crudo because there were only 3 pieces so I let my friends eat it. The slab louie was good. The crab was fresh and the dressing was good. I liked that it had avocado and asparagus in it too. The mushrooms were good. I didn't try the clam chowder. I had a bite of the lobster from the lobster roll and MAN. It was SO rich and buttery and the bread looked perfectly toasty and buttery. The lobster roll was $38 (I think) but it was not a tiny lobster roll like I'm used to seeing in SF. It was a good size with a lot of lobster. Definitely worth the price here. I will say that it had so much butter, I probably would only be able to eat half. If you come here with only one other person, I'd recommend getting some oysters, maybe another appetizer, and split the lobster roll. The decor inside is so cool. They have a giant octopus hanging from the ceiling, tentacles as decor, and a wall of piranha (?) skulls (?). So cool! They also have a lot of outdoor dining if that's your jam. Definitely would recommend this place to friends!

I asked her what she wanted and she said, "seafood", so I immediately thought of Blue Water, and we drove right over. We parked at a metered spot nearby & walked in at 5pm. Do note that there is no dedicated parking for Blue Water, so at busy times it may be tricky to find a spot, but we had no trouble today. In the main dining ordering area & on the side patio, there were a few tables that were occupied, but there was no ordering line. All of us wanted shrimp today apparently, so my dad and I both got a shrimp taco with lemon garlic butter & my hungry mom got the shrimp platter also with lemon garlic butter. The platter came with 8 shrimp, jasmine rice, and a lovely, fresh garden salad. The server who took our order and brought it out to us was very helpful & nice. They have a ton of fresh seafood on offer though so if shrimp is not your thing, there will likely be another delightful offering from the sea that will suit your fancy. We sat in the side patio area and it was very pleasant. We enjoyed our experience this evening very much! The tacos were big and had more than 5 shrimp in them, plus cabbage, pico, cheddar cheese & white sauce. One taco was pretty decently sized. If I'd been hungrier, two tacos would've been perfect, but today, I was happy with one taco. Yum! Mom enjoyed her platter. It was beautifully prepared. Blue Water also has a decent soft drink selection and beers and wine, but we all just had their water and it was very refreshing! :) By the time we left at 5:45, a line was forming out the door, so we really came out at a good time. Peace!

Arrived around 5:15pm, and there wasn't a line, but the restaurant had a good amount of diners. Pretty good ventilation at the front of the restaurant, but the back part of the restaurant, likely the overflow room was where my family and I were seated. It had a funky smell to the area and there was poor ventilation. I wanted to step out but I refrained. Everything felt stuffy in that section. The only nice person was the male staff member at the front for checkin. The rest of the staff were not very friendly. The hostess who walked us to our table was not very friendly and just rushed things. Took our drink orders, and didn't say much. Just walked off. I was surprised to see the pitchers with the beverages were sitting on top of a counter outside where customers are, without any lids. Anyone can just walk by and touch or spit in them. Thought that was not very hygienic... Different sections of food. I never expect food at buffets to be of good quality or taste excellent, so the food items were all mediocre. The teppanyaki grill was... well, let's just say they use the same spatula for everyone's entreés. You load up your plate and the cook throws everything on the grill. Uses the same spatulas to cook everyone's food. If you have allergies or sensitivity to spice, then probably avoid this section. He cooked the meat for someone else's plate and then touched the veggies for the other. Used mod spice level sauce for one, and then same spatula on my entreé. My order was non-spicy, but it had a kick since the neighboring sauce got onto my stir fry. Dessert section isn't even labeled.... meaning, the baked/dessert items aren't labeled other than the gelato flavors. Crab legs were very salty. Lobster claws in the cold section were OK though. The warm lobster they serve is limited to 1 per person per serving. Long line, and if they run out, you have to wait or return when they serve again. People were waiting in line while eating their food... the lobsters are tiny, dry, and with very little meat. It is definitely not worth paying the extra for lobster night. The amount of waiting time is ridiculous and there is no guarantee that you can even get a lobster. Some groups have 1 person waiting in line and then when it is their turn, the rest of the group members (5-7) cut the whole line to each get a lobster. I was trying to get 1 for my mother, and I didn't get to eat one, but didn't mind since it didn't even look good. Rest of the foods were mediocre too. I had 1 plate that wasn't even full... lost my appetite. Wouldn't return. Hygiene.... cross contamination... Some people say this place is like the old Pala casino buffet or Las Vegas buffet- definitely not the case. Parking can be compact. Gets busy around 5:45p it seems as more people were waiting in the lobby.

We put baby in high chair although baby kept trying to eat the table. We got our usual favorites (warm lobster rolls, clam chowder bowls, fried oyster, and fried clam belly). Surprisingly the clam belly was full of sand this time! Must not have soaked in water long enough, but when we told our server they swapped it out immediately. We substituted one of our coleslaw for potato salad, and one of our fries for onion rings. We definitely will continue doing so because it is nice to try out so many different dishes! As always, order the fries well-done for nice crispy fries. It's still on our to-do list to try the chicken parmesan since we've heard so many good things about it, but I really do like my Must Order dishes (listed below). Must Order (in order of ranking): - Clam chowder bowl - Warm lobster roll - Fried oysters - Fried scallops - Fried clam belly - Fried clam strips - Crab roll Pass: - Fish and chips - Calamari

Menu is on the wall. I chose fried, breaded fish and shrimp which also came with fries and coleslaw. Also ordered their basket of thinly sliced crisp hot onions rings, so good including a really good sauce with a slight kick. My daughter ordered the shrimp cowboy sandwich, rhe bread was so soft, yum. Everything was freshly made and hot when it arrived, the way I like it. Not salty, ehixh is fabulous. Crispy and lightly breaded, perfection. Perfect portions. I ate most of it with a few fries left I would definitely come back!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I've been coming here since they opened but haven't been here in awhile,…read morebut sure have missed it. Came here during HH with my daughter... which is the best time to come, but come early as it does get PACKED! You order right when you walk up to the register and then find a table. HH is 3-6pm DAILY!! Their HH menu is the best deal and so very tasty! My HH favorites...The poke nachos, chowder fries and shishito peppers! My daughter really liked the lemon pepper wings (on the HH menu too). Not on the HH menu but two of my other favorites are the (garlicky) brussel sprouts and the spicy poke and crispy rice! HH - Craft beers are $5... can't beat that! This place is great addition to Scripps!! The owners are super friendly as well as the staff!

We ordered the fish tacos, poke nachos, chowder fries, and clams with chorizo. Our favorites were the fish taco and poke nachos. The chowder fries were good, but the chowder seemed a bit too salty (same with the chorizo and tomato sauce). The portions were larger than I expected for happy hour which was nice. The service was also fast and friendly despite it being busy. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!

The view is spectacular!! Service was great! Our server, Eddie, was excellent. We had a few laughs and he even pretended to not see me run into the door. *I trip over flat ground so this is not unusual* he was attentive and kind! Hope to have him as our service next time we visit. The food while in my opinion limited for a buffet, but was displayed very nicely. Pretty much everything was good. I'm big on crab legs and they did not disappoint! We will for sure be back!

The omelette bar - he lost track, it was very overcooked Seafood bar was good as far as chilled shrimp, crab. I tried one oyster on half shell & not real cool or fresh so passed on more. Lobster claws were ok a little rubbery. They serve hot butter which was good. I will say 5 star view and atmosphere, service was friendly & good. Of course the brunch is on your own, for service but they keep things picked up. Based on the overall experience brunch was not a good value in spite of " all you can eat". We always wanted to try it but won't go back.
