This I.F location is new and this was our second time at the Mt. View location. Our experience has been great from start to finish. This time we were celebrating seeing some friends whom we haven't seen in quite some time as well as celebrating a birthday. Our server Esteban was so attentive, friendly and professional. He ensured that our water glasses were always filled and would check on us at perfect intervals. One of our friends had a specific dietary limitation due to an on-going health concern and Esteban stepped up to make sure his needs were met. He took it a step further by checking with the chef for suggestions as well. Ultimately, the recommendations for substitutions to our friend's meal was perfect. Even the manager got involved by bringing his meal to the table to ensure that it met his needs. We really appreciated that level of service. We also want to acknowledge the staff that came by to clear our tables of plates and glasses. We never felt rushed and when they came to clear our table, they greeted us with smiles. The dishes we had were seafood linguini, raviolis lemone, grilled chicken breast with side of asparagus and grilled cauliflower. There was wine, coffee and their chocolate cake. In addition, I.F. gave our friend a birthday scoop of gelato with a candle and sang Happy Birthday to him. Everything was amazing! Being able to catch up with close friends was great and was made better by Esteban and all the staff at I.F. Mt. View. Thank you all for working so hard. Food varied in our group, some unimaginative and some over-imaginative. Branzino was ruined with an over-spiced tomato sauce (I don't think a white fish should ever be served with a tomato sauce, but maybe that's just me). Ravioli was quite good. But the service was irritating. The came by to remove plates while I was still eating, and when I was done they pulled my plate away while others and the table were not finished. Just rude - maybe trying for a quick turnover, but the place was only half full. And when we asked for bread, they told us there was a $4 additional charge. HUH? $40 for an entree and they want to charge you for bread? Food is OK, but the place has no class. read more

I went to celebrate a birthday with a friend and the food was absolutely delicious. We ended up swapping plates to truly enjoy the tastes. They sung happy birthday to him in Italian and gave us a bowl of gelato. The staff was amazing and it's a beautiful restaurant. read more

I ordered the tagliatelle bolognese which was hearty. The sauce had a lot of meat and decent flavor. I got the fusilloni before which was too small, but the flavor was great and the burrata that came with it was tasty. The calamari and bruschetta were pretty good as well. I recommend the pasta and pizza here, but not the desserts since they are all rather small portions and nothing special. They aren't bad by any means, but you aren't missing much if you skip them. The service was very good; the waiters checked in occasionally and made sure our waters were filled. The interior is pretty big with lots of tables. Overall, decent Italian food for semi-high prices. Good spot for celebration dinners. read more

We made a reservation at Il Foranio in Mountain View. As soon as we got to the restaurant, the host gave us a table and our server introduced herself. She was the best! She helped us with the menu and offered recommendations. We were a party of 7 and were served in a timely manner. I ordered the Casarecce al Pesto e Pollo. The pesto sauce was flavorful and the combination with the tender chicken was impeccable. My dinner was delightful. We celebrated my husband's birthday. My goodness, what a great dinner we had at IL Fornaio in Mountain View. Allow me to start with our server . I wish I asked her name, but she was gracious, inquisitive about when we wished to order our second course (we ordered appetizers and asked for some time before we chose our entrees). She came back within a reasonable amount of time, we ordered our main courses. Water was frequently poured, questions as to if we wanted more wine when our glasses were almost empty were appreciated. All good and not at all intrusive. Main courses came and were delicious. She inquired about after dinner drinks and dessert. That was gratefully accepted and ordered. We can't wait to return to this wonderful restaurant that certainly understands service and well prepared food. read more

Went here with my husband for a date night and we had a great time. All of the staff were super friendly and attentive throughout the whole dinner, especially our server Kat. My Mom raved about their meatballs for a few months, so I finally went with her since I was in the mood for Italian. Sadly, I was quite disappointed. It's a pretty restaurant and nice ambiance, but the food was only OK. We started off with the bread basket and evoo/balsamic. Most Italian restaurants only pour a small amount of balsamic, so we asked for more as well as butter. Butter packets were ice cold, so not spreadable. Shared the caesar salad, a bit fishy prob due to the anchovie, but otherwise good. I had the truffle mushroom and chicken pasta (7/10), it was saucey and peppery, but not outstanding. Mom had their bolongese and that was dry, not saucey. For $120, it wasnt an amazing Italian experience. And I came hoping to enjoy pesto, and they dont offer it anymore. I think they should have butter at room temp ready to go, and not in packets (cheapens the vibe), service should offer s&p, parm, etc. i understand covid hasnt helped the economy, but I believe in common sense and as a server at heart, being aware of social cues and anticipating customers needs. Most likely will not come back as it didnt stand out from other Italian restaurants. read more

Beautiful new restaurant in mountain view. I loved the stuffed zucchini, burrata and bruschetta our party of four shared. I forgot to ask the server where they get their burrata, but I will on my next visit. I enjoyed their house spritz with my seabass. Lily did a great job, she was friendly and gave great recommendations. I'll be back. read more

The restaurant ambiance is beautiful- great for indoor or outdoor seating. Our server Angie provided great recommendations for dinner and the food was amazing. You can't go wrong with the Rigatoni alla Vodka! We were very impressed when the manager came over during our meal to make sure everything was going well. For dessert, I definitely recommend the Vulcano Chocolate Cake, it was perfectly balanced with the caramel sea-salt ice cream. This location is forgettable. We went in for a late lunch and the place is fairly empty, 2-3 tables occupied. However, even though it was not crowded, we received very low attention level from the servers. I had to get other servers' attention, including the manager of the place, for simple things like filling up the drinks. The food was mediocre too. I would put them next to your average strip mall pasta place, rather than what this brand name should represent. I gave their other locations good reviews as they deserved. I am giving this place a fair review based on my one time experience. Unfortunately this one time wasn't favorable. read more

We visited Il fornaio over the weekend and had a great experience. We got seated right away, the atmosphere overall is really nice. Our server Paola was friendly and attentive, we ordered some of her recommendations and the food was delicious. For appetizers we had a Calamaretti Fritti which was pretty fresh and tasty, and for entrees we had the Bolognese pasta, and it honestly hit the spot for me. Their Espresso Martini is one of the best I've tried in the Bay Area. We're definitely coming back, I think this has become one of my favorite spots for Italian food. read more

Great food and service. Pizza was good sized and big enough bough to share. We also got the meatballs that were delicious. A nice twist was the scoop of seasoned marscapone cheese on the side. The bruschetta was interesting in that it wasn't all tomato. It was a trio of tomato, eggplant and marscapone. The house wines were good sized pours and were excellent. This was one of our favorites when it was Paul Martin, I think is going to mine one our favorites moving forward. Would definitely recommend and return. read more

Big disappointment. Linguine was hot in several spots and cold in others. The only way I can think of doing that is by heating it in a microwave. The seafood mixed grill was severely overcooked - dry inside with a burnt crust outside - the way I sometimes reheat leftovers and leave them in a hot pan too long. Waiters coming by asking "How is everything?" in a cheery voice, and two greeters up front thanking me profusely for coming and going... No, I don't need faux-cheery greeters, Il Fornaio; I just want decent food for $41 a plate. read more
