This is one of the more difficult places for me to review. Truth be told, if you put REALLY REALLY HIGH value on the view, the high prices for a mediocre product are justified. But considering the trash on the ground and the filthy glass wind breaks, the place can definitely be characterized as a rip-off unless you a wealthy local, used to inflated SF/Cal prices, and this is your most conveniently located neighborhood coffee shop. Food is mediocre but at least there is variety (pizza, sandwiches, salads) as is also the case with drink selection (coffee drinks, beer, wine, sodas, etc). The main problem is that because of the location, this is a one of those places that doesn't have to try hard or lower prices to stay busy. They are really the only option within a 15-minute walk of the Presidio Tunnel Tops. Next closest is Piccino at the Letterman Digital Arts Center but it is a sit-down restaurant about a 15 minute walk. Best deal at Il Parco in my opinion is the canned beer. Actually now that I think about it, there is another option. If you walk 5 or so minutes Southwest from the Tunnel Tops area where there is an expansive grass lawn area you can find one or more food trucks. The better option would be to get food there and eat on the lawn or on the picnic benches in the Tunnel Tops. read more

Casual takeout spot by the presidio tunnel top park area. There is a counter with food items like square pizza slices, sandwiches and more. It feels a bit like a grocery store inside and some tables to sit outside. I got four slices of pizza to share with my friend which came out to around $55. Pretty pricy indeed. I tried the pizza bolognese, upside down pizza, pepperoni, and mushroom. It was warmed up but not crispy. I felt like everything was a bit too salty and greasy for my liking. The crust of all the slices were very bready and thick. My friend thought the bolognese was the best one, while I preferred the upside down. They were very filling and I was full by 3/4 of a slice. Stopped by for a casual quick lunch. I wasn't feeling very hungry so just got a caesar chicken salad from their grab-and-go fridge area. For $12, not a bad pre-made salad. While I wouldn't say the food is great, it works if you don't have other options. They offer a little bit of everything, from food and drinks to gifts along the wall and prepared cold items in the side refrigerators. I enjoy coming to the Presidio for some fresh air without leaving the city, and this place is a nice spot to relax at, get your coffee and snacks, and then take a few steps out to enjoy the scenic views. I stopped by Il Parco on a Friday afternoon around 1pm on a brilliantly sunny blue sky day to enjoy a sandwich while sitting on a chair at the Tunnel Tops. The inside is a nice marketplace vibe, with plenty of outdoor benches to sit at if you decide to eat/drink by the establishment instead of at the park. The service was honestly a little brusque, and the worker left the register before I paid, so I stayed by the register to confirm the transaction was complete - a second worker came and said I had to pay, and after I told him I had already paid he cut me off and told me to move aside even though no one else was behind me. I got the mortadella and pistachio pesto sandwich to go, cut in half. It was a pretty good sandwich, though on the oilier side and the bread itself wasn't the best - almost stale? and the ratio of fillings to bread was a little off in my opinion. Il Parco may not offer the best food or service, but benefits greatly from it's location at the Tunnel Tops - while you could definitely pack and bring your own picnic, its quite convenient to be able to swing by and grab a sandwich to enjoy on a nice day while watching the ships sail under the golden gate bridge. Il Parco itself is cute, with appealing looking food on display and a nice array of gift items for yourself or others. If you've spent time at Tunnel Tops, Crissy Field, or the Presidio's Great Lawn it can provide a break from wind and chill as the sun sinks. The dining space, as it were, is casual, and enclosed, with those weird sort of (plastic?) windows that never look clean. But I wasn't asking Il Parco to do a whole lot. I looked around and saw a couple playing cribbage and others just chilling over a bite or a drink. For all of this I found the place quite ideal. Bring a deck of cards and enjoy. read more

I do wait in line. Except when I'm the start of the line and you already ignored me to help another person who walked up after me. I was literally already standing right at the cash registers waiting for her to look up. While waiting for my order (which took about 20 minutes), I encountered a man who was clearly struggling--he told me he had been on the streets for days after having his phone stolen and hadn't eaten. He was simply asking for help. I decided to give him the pasta I had just purchased and bought him a soda, because showing basic human dignity and compassion costs nothing. I then went back in line to order another meal for myself. That's when everything took a turn. Thanks to my partner and best friend, I understand Spanish--and I overheard a staff member in a green quarter-zip and who I believe was a manager in a black windbreaker speaking about me in a very disrespectful and mocking way for helping this man. They also spoke negatively about him. It was incredibly disappointing to witness that level of disrespect--not only toward someone clearly in need, but also toward a paying customer who was simply trying to do the right thing. Speaking poorly about customers in another language, assuming they won't understand, is unacceptable and unprofessional. Kindness should never be met with ridicule. I will not be returning. I really wanted to love this place against some of the comments on social media, but I've got to say, I probably won't be back anytime soon. I also witnessed them give the wrong chai latte to a man in line that I later found out had an extra shot of espresso in it -- I hope the guy was expecting that buzz! Overall, I would still recommend checking this place out for yourself, especially if you like sandwiches. (Seems like it's a hit-or-miss kind of joint). The sandos looked pretty big in size for the price. The vegetarian lasagna looked decent, but for $19 for one square piece, I just don't think it's something I would splurge for. Not a lot of keto options, very limited. Lots of desserts though if you're looking for that kind of thing. I got a $15 harvest style salad, but was bummed the only protein add-on option would have been chicken. Wish there was a pescatarian option like shrimp, or even (less preferred), tuna salad. Or at least it didn't taste like it was. Tasted a bit more watered-down than I'm used to, but still had a distinctly matcha flavor. BOMBOLINI (chocolate): Pre-made on their counter. Not sure what the center was, but it tasted exactly like Nutella. Puffy, soft on the outside, filled with rich, creamy chocolate. Very indulgent. I'm surprised at the negative reviews TBH! On a sunny day especially, this place has the makings of a perfect work café. The kind of spot where productivity actually feels possible because the environment isn't fighting you. I kept it simple -- a cortado and a coffee cake. The cortado was well-pulled, balanced, and exactly what you want from a midday espresso drink. The coffee cake was a solid companion -- not the most mind-blowing thing I've ever eaten, but genuinely enjoyable and a good pairing for the drink. Everything tasted intentional, which counts for a lot. Service was smooth and easy. Nothing overly remarkable, but attentive enough that you never felt like an afterthought -- which on a quick stop like mine, is all you really need. The thing I'm most curious about though? The pizza menu. I didn't get to try it this visit, but everything about this place suggests it's worth coming back for a proper sit-down meal.
