OMG, I'm still smiling about the incredible dinner I had with friends last Sunday. While the food at this spot is absolutely top-tier, the real star of the show was our Italian server; no joke, he gave us the best service I think I've ever had. Hands-down. From the moment we sat down, he made us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant. We were totally lost looking at the wine list, and instead of just pointing at the most expensive bottle, he actually walked us through it. You could tell he was genuinely passionate and knew his stuff, he explained where the wines were from and why they'd go with our food. And he was totally right! The best part was you hardly noticed him, but everything was always perfect. Our glasses were magically full, he checked on us at just the right times, and he was so funny and charming. His excitement was actually infectious! You could tell he loved his job, and he turned a great dinner into a truly special night. The food was spectacular. We started with the arancini, which were crispy, cheesy, and heavenly. Cacio e pepe was a masterclass in simplicity: perfectly al dente pasta in a sharp, peppery sauce. We made a reservation expecting to be seated close to our reserved time, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. When we arrived, the restaurant was extremely loud and crowded, with a large number of frustrated guests waiting outside for their tables. Even with a reservation, we waited over 30 minutes past our scheduled time without being seated. We ultimately decided to leave. I understand that busy nights happen, but accepting reservations should come with better management of wait times and clearer communication. It was disappointing to plan ahead, arrive on time, and still not be accommodated. I've been here multiple times before and have had good experiences, so this visit was disappointing. My friend and I waited about 30 minutes before having to flag down our waiter to place our order and ask for water. When our food arrived, we had to ask whatever staff running around for forks and later for napkins, and by the time they were received, our pastas were cold. Our waiter was an older, bald, slender man wearing glasses. What stood out was that he regularly checked on every table around us, but never ours. He was friendly to them, talking about his upcoming travels and favorite dishes to prepare. My friend and I are both fluent in French, and we heard him repeatedly use racial slurs in French while around our table. As two young women of color, this made us feel extremely uncomfortable and that he was purposely avoiding us? We're in our young 20s, so don't understand how that could be intimidating... We ultimately had to ask for the check ourselves because he never came back to our table. Cacio y pepe was fine, nothing special and I've definitely had better. Truffle pasta with cheese was delicious, but cannot be worth the almost $90 price tag. Zero stars! Had a reservation at 230 on Father's Day for 7 people. We got there a few minutes early only to be told there would be a 1 hour wait! Why? Because according to the hostess they have to honor those who come and leave their name as well! What is the point of a reservation? Why not turn those without a reservation away? I was at the end of my meal, I was going to just set it aside and ignore it. My friend is the one who spoke up, and the server asked if I wanted it remade, to which I said no thank you (there was maybe 5 noodles left). He comped my meal though, which was so nice! Caesar salad was $18 and very underwhelming. Decent, but underwhelming. My friends order was wrong, and another got the wrong drink. I mean this as nice as possible, our waiter had a very thick Italian accent so maybe we misunderstood him a couple times, or there was just a gap in communication. They made great upgrades/adjustments by allowing reservations, added more seating outside, and moved the host stand to a much more comfortable place. I've been here several times for lunch during a shopping outing on Rodeo and it's always a good meal. We started with a caprese and upgraded the cheese to be burrata. They add some marinated red bell peppers as a garnish, so that's an interesting touch. For our entrees we got the Cacio e Pepe and the spinach ravioli. The Cacio e Pepe has the perfect amount of sauce, not too creamy (which can make the pasta soggy) Al dente, and one of the best I've had in the city. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating (with heat lamps outdoors to keep you warm). They have music playing in the background which brings a nice vibe. The Music is not loud but nice to enjoy. Overall, we had a really great experience at this restaurant! The the outdoor space looked very cute and nice, and even though it was pretty cold outside, the heaters made it very comfortable. The food was delicious especially the pasta. We tried three different pastas with my family, and everything was amazing. The only downside was the wine. We got this amazing Eggplant starter in a sundried tomato sauce, omg it was so unique and delicious. My husband got the Agnolotti and he was genuinely in food heaven. It was perfectly cooked with each bite giving a burst of mushroom flavour balanced by the creamy truffle sauce. The cheese fondue added the right amount of depth and decadence to the dish. My girlfriend got the rigatoni and I ordered the bolognese. They were both very very delicious and piping hot when served. Great quality food. We got a few mocktails as well and it was great. No dessert this time. The price for the two of us wasn't too shabby and the service was prompt and respectful. Although, I can imagine the bill getting pretty steep and quick (ahem Beverly Hills).
