For a restaurant that specializes in pasta the pasta was nothing special. They claim the pastas and sauces are ancient recipes- from Italy, i doubt it. We tried four different pastas-they all had no taste and were not hot. A little salt would have gone a long way-there was none on the food and none on the table. There seams to be a disconnect between what the food should be and what the chefs make. The shrimp cocktail, the bread and the tiramisu were good. I'm honestly surprised at all the great reviews. Made a 530 reservation on a Saturday which I know the mall is going to be extremely busy and that's fine but everything was just not that great. The service was slow and our waiter just read the menu to us when we asked what he recommended. The food was not good. We got the mozzarella and it was served with 3 half slices of hard, day old bread. We sat at the bar and I watched the person who prepared the bread. She took pre toasted bread out of a plastic box and put it in an oven to warm up. She also used a damp cloth to wipe down her area and proceeded to toss salad with her bare hands and put it on serving plates. Main dish was gnocchi which was tasty but barely enough to cover the bottom of a bowl. All in all I spent $98 on food and none of it was worth it. read more

We had a big food day on Saturday, starting with a relatively quick brunch at Eataly at their pasta focused restaurant. We've eaten here numerous times, and it is my favorite of Eataly's restaurants. I love the freshly made pasta and options, it is authentic to the pasta we had in Italy. This time, we ordered the seasonal oysters and the trio of handmade pasta. Check the slides for me reviews of each dish. The service was fantastic today, but this isn't always the case. Our waiter was super attentive and got us everything we needed and gave us good recommendations. The ambiance was very busy, they were packed. We got there around 12 and still got seated promptly. I love the hustle and bustle of this particular spot, there is so much to see as you are waiting for your food. Personally, I like it but it might be too much for small children or if you are trying to have a conversation. read more

We sat at the wine bar for a bit before our reservation and the bartender was nice and knowledgeable. Very cute atmosphere. We sat down to eat and the menu was kind of hard to understand because there were so many things we had never heard of but our waiter was super nice and knowledgeable and let us know what was what. This restaurant is one of several in the Eataly store. It kind of felt like dining in the middle of a wonderful Italian market, with food for sale all around. Right smack dab in the middle, Il Pastaio offers a great selection of pasta dishes and other specialties. We were there for lunch and decided to even spurge on a glass of wine that we knew would match the excellent food selection. Went for glasses of the Umani Ronchi Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Jorio. A good selection, but have had better. As for the food and service, both were excellent. Started by splitting the Burrata and the insalata verde. Both were very good but the burrata was truly extraordinary. Perhaps the smoothest, most creamy I have ever tasted. For our mains, my wife had the Proscuitto E Focaccia and I had the Paccheri Ai Frutti Di Mare. Both were very very good, and nice size portions. Servers kept water full and checked in the right amount of times to make sure we were pleased. Based on this experience, we will visit the other restaurants there as well. One negative, we must have been handed four menus each with the various specials and combinations and prix fixe choices. Made things kind of confusing to the point that we found ourselves pulling or calculators to figure out which was the better offer for some items on multiple menu combinations. Totally unnecessary to make a lunch offering so complicated. Dropped down to a 4 ranking because of that, which made things less than perfect. read more

Went for nye and had truffle pasta "table side" but did not come with any truffle. Had to ask the server if there was supposed to be some kind of truffle? when we first got there, the hostess acted like we couldn't afford to eat there. after requesting to sit at the bar area she huffed and said she would have to go see if there were seats. she took two mins to go look. she then seated us and then a couple couple minutes later, some girl brought us water. We informed her about wanting other drinks. She then told us our server will help us. Our server then came over quite a few minutes later, and then once the server came, he explained the whole menu to us I got the dish he recommended. It was awful. The meat inside of the pasta I got literally tasted like it was baby birded ( regurgitated ) into the ravioli. It was also sweet? then we got the pasta flight. The Cacio E Pepe was good. The other two pastas were watery. I just feel like I can make better Italian food at home. I should've chose to eat at cava in the food court. We were so disappointed by this the server also didn't visit us for at least 15 minutes which we had several request for cheese, pepper, more water, etc. while our meal was taking place We all had time to separately go to the bathroom before our bill even came. Not very attentive should not be serving find a different job. He didn't even offer us his name.
