What can I say about In N Out that hasn't been said already? I love their fresh and tasty burgers and their squishy fries. Dining in feels like a throwback to the 50s. Where else can you feed four for under $35?

We flew in late to the Oakland Airport and were staying at a hotel in Alameda. It's 10:30pm what could possibly be open - In-n-Out! Always dependable and delicious wherever you go. We ordered two Cheeseburgers with grilled onions. ($4.40 ea) How are these still so cheap? Chocolate shake for my husband and Vanilla shake for me. ($3.10 ea) No fries because we don't like In-n-Out fries. The only way I can eat them is animal style and that seemed a little much this late at night. When we used to live in Fullerton we would drive thru the In-n-out for burgers and then McDonald's across the street for fries. Best of both worlds. These burgers and shakes really hit the spot. We definitely felt like we were on vacation!

Since I moved away, in n out has a choice to include when I visit CA. It is still the same. I was trying to Order light medium fries, I got light fries. It was not bad but I would prefer cooked potato and crispy fried. Burger is the still the same but the price is higher. $7 for burger and fries, that is a cheap lunch. I do like the pickle chilies and grilled onions. The line was not too bad. The drive thru line is long. Service was good. They responded to requests like more spread or more pickle chilies.

Cannot go wrong!! Always long lines (duh) but this location gets it going real fast. Only downside is small parking lot but people come and go quickly . One of the best locations I've gone to just bc they always get my order perfectly.

Great food, great prices. love. DELICIOUS burgers and shakes. the drive through line can be soooo long. parking lot is very full and kinda hard to find a spot.

Classic West Coast burger experience! The Alameda In-N-Out delivers everything you expect -- fresh, juicy burgers, crispy fries, and friendly, fast service. Love that you can customize with their "secret menu" options like Animal Style fries or protein-style burgers.

This California institution has so much hype around it, especially when compared to giants like Shake Shack. I tried it a decade ago and fell in love so this was on my "must" list for the Bay Area when I returned this time. Also of note, people say you have to order the "correct way" in order to get the best, which is a bit annoying since if you don't know, you can't know. I was correct in getting an animal style cheeseburger, but was told I needed to do extra everything, chopped chilis, and chopped banana peppers (if that's my fancy). Even without these extras, the burger was unarguably, good, and more affordable than Shake Shack. For the price of my entire meal (shake, fries, burger), I would have just barely been able to pay for one single Shake Shack burger, so for value alone, In N Out is better. However, the fries were utter trash and not fried thoroughly enough, and getting them animal style was a huge mistake. I was told you should get them "well done", which doesn't make sense to me - why not just do fries correctly the first time? As for the shake, I got the Neapolitan (strawberry, chocolate, vanilla mix) which was suggested, but couldn't really distinguish any of the flavours, so I didn't feel like it was worth the calories. All in all, I'm come again, but only for the burger and to try the fries well done. I think It'd still pay premium to have Shake Shack, though, if I'm being honest.

Although prices have rose quite a lot in the past few years, the food is still always tasting fresh, employees are always friendly, and service is quick

Hair in the burger; also found hair in animal fries couple mins before this.

Went here around 12am Thursday night, basically Friday. We ordered two burgers, a drink, and an order of animal fries. Food is good, but the problem was that I found a long hair in my animal fries. Couple mins later my boyfriend found another long hair in his freaking burger. We get it, stuff happens sometimes but it's gross to have to pull out a long hair from your mouth, and definitely not cool to have happened twice in one meal.

despite extra toppings, seemed like a normal amount

Honestly, the food is what you're expect, consistent and solid for the price. The only gripe I have with this In-N-Out comparative to others is for some reason it felt unclean. It could have just been this particular day since it seemed like the staff was short staffed but since it was a Mon and there wasn't a line out into the main street and not that many people dining inside it felt off that there were no napkins, the condiments were out, and almost all the tables/seats had some dried sauce on it I definitely believe there should have been some level of cleanliness but since I'm not going to In-N-Out often especially on a Mon night it could have just been this particular day since every time I pass by this location there's a crowd inside and insane line outside so could be an outlier of an experience

I'm generally not a fan of fast food, but even I will crave In-N-Out sometimes. As someone from the East Coast, this chain deserves the hype it gets.

Poorly assembled burger and a toasted bun that I didn't ask for.
Damario H.

I usually have a solid experience here, but this visit was disappointing. When I got home, the burger was poorly assembled and didn't look fresh. The bun was overly toasted, I didn't even ask for a toasted bun the patty seemed dry and smaller than expected, and the overall presentation was sloppy. Hoping this was just an off night, but definitely not the standard I'm used to.

Like most In and Out locations, this spot is almost always packed, especially during peak hours. The drive-thru line can get crazy long, and the parking lot is small and tough to navigate when traffic spills out. So be prepared for a wait or plan ahead. That said, the food is as good as ever, consistently fresh and delicious. The employees are always friendly. My go-to order is a double double with both grilled and whole onions, extra lettuce and tomato, and well-done fries. The fries are my favorite part. They're cut fresh from real potatoes right in front of you, and you can really taste the difference. Nothing frozen here. In and Out has a famously simple menu, but they've mastered what they do. There's also a "secret menu" you can look up online for extra customization. Their shakes are great too, thick, creamy, and made with real ice cream. I usually go for a strawberry-vanilla combo. Inflation is everywhere now and In and Out is not an exception unfortunately. At $6.25 for a double double and $2.45 for fries, it's still a good deal though. I'm always full and satisfied.

Not only is it reasonably priced but the cleanliness says a lot for a fast food chain.

Southern Comfort Kitchen has a drive-thru? I'm writing this review to share for those exploring…read moreAlameda Island that Southern Comfort Kitchen has a few locations throughout the East Bay (and many may know this restaurant for its food truck), but they now has a new(er) location in Alameda. As a parent, I never knew how much I would appreciate a drive-thru at spots like Walgreens, Starbucks, and now, an actual restaurant! It's the little things sometimes that really help to take the heavy lift off, while giving back the flexibility and energy to the driver :) While I can't speak for the interior of the restaurant, we did roll through the drive-thru to test it out over the weekend while exploring Alameda and all of its charm. On a Saturday evening it seemed like they were pretty swamped, and no one was responding at the drive-thru window so we figured maybe it was closed. We pulled up and my husband got out of the car to confirm before we pulled away with a worker inside the restaurant and they apologized. Almost immediately someone came to the window and gave us printed menus because we had already passed the digital menu part of the drive-thru. We ordered hush puppies, a fried shrimp po' boy sandwich, mac n' cheese, and bread pudding. Oh wee, we had a feast when we arrived home and reheated everything! I think they may still be working out some kinks, but I'm open to trying the drive-thru again next time we're in town post brewery fun. A drive-thru in the East Bay for Cajun bites? Very cool! I've explored their menu before and wow, that bread pudding! Special. Would go back for that alone to try it hot from the oven!

I ordered to-go blackened fish platter with red beans and rice, and a chicken sandwich with fries. It took 30 min for the food to come out and when I opened the fish, it wasn't even slightly warm (mmm, room temperature fish!). What's more disappointing is that everything was severely overcooked and dry and nothing tasted remotely Cajun or appetizing. This place isn't exactly cheap, either. And all I can say about the ambience is it's got a cafeteria vibe. Anyway, I gave it two stars because the front people are at least friendly, but I in no way, shape or form recommend this restaurant.

By the time the mystery burger bandit struck, the kitchen was already closing. I thought I was cooked. Instead, the staff came through and made me an order of Animal Fries since they couldn't make another burger. So technically In-N-Out forced a cheat day on me. Honestly... I needed it. Been eating too clean lately! Bonus points to the security guard who made me throw away my cigarette because they were closing and there were no "In-N-Outs" allowed. At first I was annoyed, then I realized he's probably helping me live longer. Respect. Great staff, great customer service, and somehow they turned a stolen-order disaster into a memorable late-night snack. Highly recommend with my utmost respectful regards.

I ordered a hamburger, Animal Style, with extra onions, and also got a Strawberry shake. The burger tasted okay, but it was also kind of sloppy and mushy. It was also really busy when I got there, there were 30+ orders ahead of me. So thinking, the workers must've been super busy and may have missed the details of what the usual burgers quality should be like. The register staff also seemed kind of uninterested, except for one young lady that was calling out the orders. She had enthusiasm. But when it came to my order, it was another shorter girl with glasses, and she had no smile and just didn't want to be there. So yeah, okay visit this time around. Loved the strawberry shake though!

I ordered the sando and fries combo and enjoyed them at the picnic tables nearby. 5/5 Chicken sandwich I'm no fried chicken connoisseur, but I really enjoyed this sandwich. My mild fried chicken sandwich was crispy and savory with a hint of sweetness. The coleslaw was a creamy tangy addition that paired well with the sandwich. It's nice they offer various spicy levels; the mild is flavorful without burning off your taste buds. 4/5 Fries were nicely spiced with cajun-esque flavors. Not spicy at all. They included a mysterious (aioli?) sauce that went well with the fries. Fries were crispy though without the pillowy insides I crave. The portion was huge, quite shareable. I also tried a few bites of the thick gravy seafood etouffee. Other folks in my party were impressed with the flavor and generally liked it, but I didn't care too much for it. You might enjoy it if you, too, enjoy curry-type food. I don't often eat fried or hot chicken, but I consider this to be one of the better spots locally.

Casual southern spot for fried chicken sandwiches. Don't be afraid to turn up the heat!…read more The menu offers flavorful versions of southern comfort foods. We ordered a chicken sando, the chicken and waffles, and a couple sides -- the greens and etouffee. The sandwich was the clear highlight: moist chicken thigh with a breaded crunch, covered by a thin layer of mayo coleslaw. The light, sweet crunch of the cabbage and carrots gave balance to the dark meat. The waffles were crispy but just soft enough you could wrap them around the chicken to make a sweet sandwich out of that dish too. The server was very friendly when we came. I expressed curiosity about the different heat levels, and he shared nuggets batter d in the medium and hot sauces. He shared our excitement at trying the hot stuff! For the record, the medium is hotter than your typical spicy chicken sandwich and probably a safe go-to. The hot level just cracks "painful" but not unmanageably so -- might be fun as a treat. TBH I was pleasantly surprised by how much flavor each sauce packed -- and how different they were. The medium is especially sweet. Go for the sando. Crank up the heat. It doesn't miss.
