On the surface, this spot is just a good burger joint. Cold crunchy iceberg lettuce and juicy tomatoes, sour and sweet special sauce with diced pickles and onions, hot meat and cheese melting into each other into a harmony of salty umami all in between two lightly-toasted mustard-covered buns. Oh, and a telltale sign that someone is a transplant is if the fries are a topic of debate. I've personally grown to appreciate the hard work that goes into each fry. Watching the workers savagely pump their arms while processing entire potatoes in seconds with that primitive machine makes me feel amazing as I comfortably sit and stuff my face. This place does fast food, but it does it fresh. Fresh fast food is the oxymoron that is In-N-Out. But it's not just the food that we're getting and why there's a line literally every single time I've ever been at an In-N-Out (does move fas though), it's really the consistency. That's what you're really getting. In-N-Out has mastered the art of consistently delivering a pleasant experience. It never fails. This place is so consistent that whenever I eat here, I can reflect on my growth as a person throughout the years. Every double-double is like a ring on a tree trunk. What's not to love. It trumps all fast food places... except Shake Shack in NYC, but we're in the best coast, so let's talk In-N-Out. This is a brand new location (built in 2015) as Alameda keeps growing. It's in a plaza with a convenient Chase Bank and other shops off of Webster St as you exit the Posey Tunnel coming into the humble little island of Alameda. The food is consistently good and freshly made-to-order. I got the #1, animal style (if you haven't tried it, go ahead, get wild). Also, I ordered a Neopolitan shake which is the blended shake. If you didn't know, In-N-Out has a secret menu with all kinds of little twists. For example, if you like it spicy, you can ask to add banana peppers to your burger. You can even one up the double-double and go with a triple-triple, or if you're beastmoding to a heart attack, go BIG with a quad-quad... four cheeses, four patties in one burger with all the fixings. The staff is young, well-trained, and friendly. I'm guessing they're mostly part timers that go to the Alameda community college close by. They probably also smile because In-N-Out employees are one of the highest paid fast food workers. Everything's great, so why didn't I give it 5 stars? This burger stand was awesome. Line moved fast and my burger was extremely good. That's the basics that I expect from any fast food joint. Can't say that about all the in-n-outs, but this one knows how to run their business. I've tried their drive thru and walked in and stood in line and the results are same--excellent customer service with minimum wait! And that reflects in the customers too! Everyone seemed real happy and conversational on a Friday night. I even shared an outdoor table with the nicest lady asking me about my day. Alameda In-N-Out, you've got it going on! We decided to just dine-in and get animal fries, reg. fries, and a double-double. Despite the tremendous number of people ahead of us, we still got our order in 15 minutes which I thought was pretty impressive (I have experience in the food industry so I know how hard it is to consistently be putting out orders without letting some customers wait for a while). The burger was juicy and delicious. In-N-Out fries though are a bit disappointing and lackluster. They aren't as crispy and seasoned. Glad to see more in-n-outs expanding in CA, but that doesn't seem to make the lines any shorter. Probably because they are all consistent with food and service and creating more fans. The only downside that makes me avoid this location is the parking lot. It's small and makes it hard to maneuver as it shares a lot with chase bank and Safeway gas. read more

I live in alameda I come to In N out 3 to 4 times a week around 6 and 8pm and always happens the same thing people cutting the line from the gas station and the same server who took my order today always allows that to happen he doesn't do anything about he just lets people cut in front of you and I always go to him and address is not okay to me or the people who waits more than 30 minutes to get serve or waiting on line it's been multiple times when I called them out not to take their orders but seems like some people has privileges, but today I made a call to corporate and I hope this gets addressed is not fair and upsetting. Not only is the service incredibly slow now, they do this thing where there are 2 people outside taking orders. But only 1 at a time. The cars get back up to the street while a big gap remains. I got fed up and went in to order our food. And THAT took a long time,, with tons of people inside and unable to stay 6 feet apart.. this is unsafe.. Ate here last week. It's actually a pretty good burger. It really is a small burger. I like the sauce that they put on it. I'd forgo the pickles they use, wasn't a fan. The fries aren't really all that either. Otherwise it tasted really good, enjoyed the cheese they put on it. Definitely a part of the California experience. What I do enjoy in a burger is the meat had a little of the charbroiled taste honestly it's what I'm use to being a Chicago native eating at Portillo's. This review for the drive-thru employee Emiliano. They couldn't get our order right after 3 tries, said something was wrong with their headset. When I pulled up to get my order he said he knows he messed up my order, but this is all he has and that I'll have to go to the back of the line if I want them to remake it. I said just give me what he has. Turns out he forgot more than half my order! When I walked in and asked about my missing food, he seemed like he didn't even care that he charged me for things that he never gave me. I've been here many times before but after this time I'm never going back. We entered and got helped at the register right away. The cashier seemed new and we had to repeat ourselves multiple times and even still she forgot to include our shake. After realizing she never charged us for the milkshake we asked for multiple times, my boyfriend went up to buy another one. We ordered a chocolate shake and I am telling you this shake was 100% vanilla. After no joke, 20 mins of waiting, the order was finally "ready". Someone called out our order number and we went up and before we even got there the male had walked away. We stood there without one of our items and was never asked if we wanted ketchup, their special sauce, napkins, forks etc. No verbal communication at all. It wasn't until I had to raise my voice at them for them to realize they had forgotten my item. Once they brought it over to me, they still just brought it and left. I had to call the man back over and ask for my condiments and asked if my shake was actually vanilla. They replied and told me that their chocolate was having problems. Why sell something you don't have or at least tell the guest before they purchase it? The one in sf is by far better and even though it is more packed the wait time isn't half as long and the food is 2x as better. They get paid $18 an hour for this?! I usually have great company :) I'd say that their burgers are the best there is on this planet, and the only downside are their fries, but mehhh the burgers make up for that. haha. Since I'm not a fan of their fries, I always order a double double and a milkshake (see what I did there?) It's like an upgrade from the regular burger, and an upgrade from a soft drink. This combo is very satisfying and never fails to impress me. The reason for the 4 stars, is because their fries are horrible. LOL. As with all in-n-outs, this is a great facility. It's clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. They do their best to make things efficient for both those in line inside and in the drive thru. Although it's in Alameda, this is an easier location for us to get to than the coliseum in-n-out. For using fresh ingredients, this is the best quality fast food chain restaurant that exists. Yes! I love In N Out!!! We were coming back late at night from an event and I really wanted to stop by for a midnight snack! The place was still open! There was plenty of parking! The drive-thru line was sooooo long! I'm so glad we just went inside and ordered. We went in and ordered since there was no line! The person taking our order was friendly and nice. The food came out pretty quick! It was hot and ready to eat! We asked them to not put it in a bag to go, but rather a box to go. We ended up eating the burger and fries in the car! The place looked pretty new or really clean! That's a good thing! I was very impressed with this location. After we were finished eating I even went out of our car to throw away the trash. I have an addiction and it's called In-N-Out. No more dodging bullets and break-ins at the coliseum location with the Alameda shop open for business. This review is late but well deserved. Of all the locations I have visited across 3 states (California, Arizona, Texas) this is by far my favorite location. Every employee is on it here. I often order from the special menu mixing ketchup and mustard just to throw them off. I've yet to succeed. I order my meal two cheeseburgers at a time. Toss in some fries, large arnold palmer, side milkshake to push the limit and you got yourself a full belly. 1,000+ calories later I'm sleeping like a baby having dreams about my visit next week. It's all good. I'll run a few extra miles and keep my addiction under double double wraps. read more

Josiah is an incredible employee and deserves a raise, promotion, vacation... something! I drove in late Saturday night to place a very large last minute order (12 fries, 25 burgers) and he accommodated it no problem. Josiah and his team almost completely had the entire order ready by the time I got to the window and he even walked the order out to my car! (While there was the famous line of cars down the road and around the parking lot). I've worked in food service for years, I used to be the General Manager of a Panera Bread. I am not in food service anymore- but if I was, I would have asked him to come work for me immediately. You have the best of the best working for you.
