In-and-Out has always been a great reliable staple when craving fast food. Usually my first choice because of its excellent customer service, quality, and location. I've been here multiple times and have never had a problem with any employee or discrepancy with my order. The burgers are reliably tasty, and there is always a debate with the fries, but I find them to be pretty good. Inside feels like the classic diner experience with plenty of seating and parking. The drive-thru can become busy very quickly at peak hours but still moves at a decent speed. About a 10-15 minute wait if the line is spilling into the parking lot. As with most In-and-Outs during a lunch or dinner rush, there's gonna be a ton of people so expect a wait, but they are like a well oiled machine and will get orders out in a timely manner. And everyone is very nice. My fiancé and I once did a blind taste test between In-and-Out, Whataburger, and P Terry's and In-and-Out came out very much on top. Well I feel like I checked off a life event - I had in n out for the first time. Overall, it was really good. Tasted more like a burger you made at home on your grill in the backyard than cheaply made fast food. The closest I would compare it to is a Sonic burger. But the service was friendly and fast. Told her it was my first time and got a hat and sticker. The animal fries were my favorite. If I were to go again, I think I'd try ordering a burger animal style too. read more

I love In-N-Out, I grew up with the chain in SoCal. This place is good, but today I literally got here at 1am, their lights were all still on and 4 cars in drive thru. When I tried to order, they refused. When I said "you can't just make me a cheeseburger" I was told "I'm sorry we can't" so I still had to wait in the drive thru line behind 3 cars and am just barely pulling out 10 min later. TBH they could've made me a burger, esp since they were cooking for the cars in front of me. Guess I won't be coming to this location close to closing ever again. For the past 20 years, from California, across the west, and even in Austin, everytime I try you I think you're just ok. I'm a burger girl and this ain't it. In-N-Out wins the award for "Best Fast Food Presentation on a Tray" because everything looks picture perfect. The burgers are appetizingly arranged, and the fries come out with a napkin covering up part of it just so, then garnished with a single salt and pepper packet. Our cheeseburger and hamburger were decent enough. The meat was seasoned right and the veges were fresh. Our fries, however, were extremely heavily salted (gah, my mouth is still tingling) with an unexpected, strange powdery interior. I go crazy for fries, but sadly conclude that I'll never order these here again. Which means return visits to In-N-Out will be severely limited as I always love me some crispy potato goodness together with my burger. In-N-Out gets an extra star for cleanliness: despite the crowds, this place was virtually spotless. I saw the floor being cleaned every five minutes! Also, for super employee attitude. They messed up our order but bent over backwards to make it right, cheerful and friendly to the last. Enjoyed the opening day excitement and craziness, like watching cars block traffic while trying to join the line for the drive thru, and being entertained by a couple of diehard fans taking photos using burgers and flags in very inventive ways. It should say "Meh. I've experienced WAY better". Another disappointing visit to In-N-Out, and two sub-par experiences are enough for me. I discovered In-N-Out while on business in California several years ago, primarily in Sunnyvale, Milpitas, and LA area. The best thing about them was not only their food, but the consistent quality and execution - they never failed no matter what location you tried out. Always the same great tasting burger, hot and fresh french fries, tons of grilled onions on my Animal style, and the order was always 100% accurate. Customer service was always polite and upbeat at every location - - never never did I have a bad experience. When something is so good you tell everyone, and that's what I did - - spread the word to my family and friends. I was excited when they arrived in Central TX and was expecting a duplication of my great experiences on the West Coast, a Copy Exactly, unfortunately both locations have come up way short of expectations. As a result I don't see myself becoming a loyal follower for this chain in the area. Instead of getting something better than my Round Rock visit I got the same problems, and in some areas worse: - Even though there's a quality check at the counter, my order was not accurate. I was supposed to get grilled + regular onions yet one was grilled and one was not. - The fries (again) were lukewarm at best. - The grilled onions were scarce and could hardly taste it, and same w/ the sauce, very light portions indeed. - The juicy meaty burger was used to in Cali is no more - - patties are very thin and overcooked, definitely not up to Corporate Quality Standards. - The guy who gave me my order literally demanded I provide him w/ my receipt which I thought was odd and bothered me since I had been watching and he never asked anyone else. Hmm, Burger Profiling? - Definitely not worth the price of admission. I paid too much to have this many quality issues. I think I found one root cause to their problems - - an inadequate training program and lack of standard work. I observed an employee training several new hires on the drink and ketchup station, she communicated 10+ process steps in a matter of 1-2 minutes. I politely asked: "wow, that's a lot of work instructions to remember, is any of that written down and documented visually so they recall?". She responded: "no, but we're working on that". Yikes, that explains it, mistakes will happen and quality will suffer, and that won't help build customer equity. Many of you are right - - this just doesn't meet the hype, but understand that you're not getting the Real McCoy as experienced on the West Coast. With plethora nice burger options in Austin I'd say I won't have any issues holding off on my next In-N-Out visit until the next time I head out to Cali. read more

The drive-thru was around the parking lot and down a street, parked about a block away on a little side street, and made the trek on foot towards basically the equivalent of white pearly gates at the end of a tunnel. Walked inside and got my special spot in line. I was proud, elated, and hungry. My turn came, the man happy as could be to take my order asked me where I'm from. With a big grin on my face, I started to order and then paused and answered his questions realizing I need to calm down a bit, apparently he moved here from LA for this spot. Placed my order for some Double Double Animal style action, with some Animal style fries and a beverage to wash that sexy goodness down. If anyone has a question about (animal style) it's a burger of your choice with Thousand Island dressing, hand-leafed lettuce, tomato, a mustard cooked beef patty; add pickle, extra spread with grilled onions. Fries as well can be ordered Animal Style, coming with melty cheese, the same grilled onions, and a giant slap of Thousand Island dressing. The burger, as succulent as could be was perfectly cooked and browned on the outside... just a tad. With all those animal ingredients coming together in an impeccable harmony. This was the most cheese and grease soaked deliciousness ever. The FRESH CUT fries - order them WELL, crispiness!.... OHHH the Animal fries... when you get them, stir them up and don't just let the ingredients sit on top, you may have read a bit about this on other sites... I could describe these little slices of potato heaven, instead just make sure to order them per above. The prices are superb, and so is the service! Everybody has been talking about how great In-N-Out burger was. We don't have them in Houston, and I believe its new in Austin. So, I decided to try it!! I just ordered the Cheeseburger with grilled onions. I didn't order fries. I'm trying to watch my figure... lol It was actually good, and I loved the sauce. It was almost big maclike, but not exactly. The meat tasted fresh and the bun wasn't bigger than the meat... It was hot fresh and tasty.. What was weird to me is that they have it open instead of wrapping it all the way up. I guess that's their thing. The drive thru line was very long, but there was this guy outside taking orders to keep the line moving. Let's start off by saying I love In-N-Out. I grew up on it practically. I write sporadic emails to their headquarters begging them to come to the East Coast. I am not to afraid to admit I drink their Kool Aid. I was excited to learn there was an In-N-Out in Austin, and rushed over there as soon as we could while in town. I read the reviews and questioned the reviews were people said it did not quite taste the same as the ones in California, but I figured maybe Texans were so biased with whataburger and five guys they wouldn't give In-N-Out a chance. I apologize for being judgey, you guys are right. Something is a little off here. On the outside it looks like an In-N-Out, has the same friendly service, the same simple menu, but there are some major differences. First as Chris M states you can always rely on In-N-Out for consistency. My order was not quite what I actually ordered. Not animal style. Then I looked at the patty,if memory served me right, I remember it being thicker. A lot thicker. Hold on, I thought everything was supposed to be bigger here? So the patty was thin, barely heated up, and just bland and the sauce was scarce. Hmmm dry burger.., The animal style fries were cold and limp, I had three of them and gave up. The worst part was we had hyped up In-N-Out all day to an In-N-Out newbie. Not only were we a little sad, I am not sure we sold her on it. I don't ever go to fast food restaurants.... except for In-N-Out. I live in Houston, which doesn't have one, and needed some food before the drive back and I saw how there was one on the way. The location is pretty good though it was interesting figuring out where the entrance was. It has its own parking lot and half was full. The drive through line was pretty busy as well. My Hubby and I are both vegetarians (no onion or garlic) so if we were to get a burger, it'd literally be everything sans the meat patty and sauce. Essentially, a dry sandwich with burger buns. We had some food in the car though so decided to go just with their trusty fries, which are so delicious and simple, probably the reason why they were safe. Why not add a shake? We did. In the end, our order consisted of two fries and a strawberry shake. Our food came out in no time and we seated ourselves. No ketchup for us but the thin and crispy (and hot) fries were perfect the way they were - lightly salted. I scarfed them down in record time. The shake was a bit on the sweet side. I've yet to try an In-N-Out that deserves anything less than five stars and this one was no exception. Great burgers and great service, all for a great price. What blows my mind is that people still insist on the indefensible claim that Whataburger is better than In-N-Out. In-N-Out serves food that is more delicious, cheaper, and not to mention healthier than Whataburger. This place is great. I visited this particular location three times in three days while in Austin, and was never once disappointed. Amazing food with amazing service. Come and get the double-double animal style with fries. The patties are always fresh, the buns are always toasted, the cheese is always melted the perfect amount, and the vegetables are always crisp (you can even ask for some extra on the side). If onions are your thing, try whole grilled onion on your burger. If you're one of those people who keeps complaining about In-N-Out fries, keep in mind that they cut them fresh in house daily, and at least try them "well done" before you keep slamming them. If you've never had In-N-Out before, a lifelong following can begin for you at this location, but make sure to journey out to Southern California to try some at the origin. I cannot believe they have In-N-Out in Texas. It's been probably 10+ years since I've had it last, back in California. I was eager to see if it was as good as I remembered and it definitely did not disappoint. I ordered the hamburger, animal style fries, and a chocolate milkshake. Since this was the first time ordering as an adult, I didn't realize how cheap it was!! However, you pay for what you get; the party was pretty small but it still filled me up along with the fries. My only complaint about the food is that I wished the milkshake was colder as it was warmer than room temperature. The service was great, the guy helped me bring all the food and drinks to our table and even came by later and asked if we need anything. I noticed all the employees were always laughing and having fun. A good sign to see that the company treats its employees well. On my annual trip to catch the most incredibly engineered automobiles on the planet race each other, my buddies and I stopped at this location of Heaven on Earth. Only one strange thing to note: as steady as the customer traffic was, I will admit that this was just the latest occasion I've had at an Austin location of In N Out that didn't have the insane lines that I'm used to seeing. I sadly was not impressed with the meal at all. My burger was just average. The sauce did not wow me, nor did the flavor of the actual meat. The only thing that I turn down is my collar and I wasn't about to turn down a free meal at In-N-Out Burger. I am not a fast food joint type of person but I did enjoy my Double-Double Animal burger meal with fries and a Barq's root beer. This venue was very clean and modern, a little on the upscale side, I was impressed. The cashier, Lucinda, was quite cordial even after she saw me pull a coupon out of my pocket instead of my wallet. In-N-Out Burger, perhaps the most hyped burger in the USA. We don't have this chain in my part of the country so I was interested to try a classic double during my stay in Austin. Burger I will say the presentation on these burgers is nice. The lettuce, tomato and onions are all fresh and have a natural raw taste, which is quite nice. I especially appreciated the fresh lettuce which provides a nice green crunch. The burger is perfectly packed into its wrapper and laid gaping on its side. A lot of good stuff packed in there. Meat patties are cooked well done, leaving little in the way of flavor, complexity or texture. Rubbery overcooked patties is what you're getting. They are also very thin so two patties isn't anything special. Unfortunately, the meat is the least interesting thing going on here. The burger bun deserves credit. It holds shape exceptionally well and is denser than most buns, which I appreciate. And a note on the secret sauce, it is just tartar sauce with a splash of ketchup. Creamy, fatty and pickley, a nice way to add complexity to both burger and fries. Each bite is indeed greater than the sum of its parts. The thick body of the burger, with the browned onions and melted cheese nicely distributed throughout is a crowd pleaser to be sure, despite leaving much to be desired. So does it live up to the hype? If you've read this far I think you can tell I'm saying no. But it's a solid fast food burger and I appreciate some aspects of the burger. However, copious amounts of cheese, secret sauce or condiments cannot compensate for the bland overcooked patties. Fries Now actually seeing the workers press the fresh potatoes through a strainer and making honest to goodness fresh fries, I was excited. Unfortunately, the results are disappointing. The flavor of the fries is good as you can actually taste the potato and has a fresh homemade quality to it. However, the texture on the fries is way off. I got the regular fries and my friend got his well done. The well done fries have a slightly better texture, but both are still too soft and remind me of pringles in the way it disintegrates in your mouth.
