I almost gave up on In N Out. It was so overhyped that the food never lived up to my expectations the two previous times we had gone. I've decided one thing: if you order straight off the normal menu, the food is just ok. But when I order my burgers "Animal Style," it makes a huge difference in the taste category for me. I'm still not a huge fan of their fries, but the next time I go I'm going to ask them to cook them well-done and I'm sure they'll be tastier that way. My wife's strawberry shake was disgustingly sweet (she took it back because it had way too much syrup in it), but my vanilla was very good. read more

Sadly, my first In-N-Out dining experience happened here in Draper, Utah. I really wanted it to be in California, just to be legit, but now I'm not that sad that I didn't wait. I waited until it had been here for a while so I didn't have to wait in some ridiculous line. Since it's close to my work, I dropped by during lunch for a cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger was ... well, it had meat and cheese, so. It was just fine, and maybe illustrated to me why the food is so inexpensive. But the fries, the fries! They were gross. I was ready for that satisfying, salty, potato-y bite into a hot french fry, and I was so disappointed. The fries were kind of soggy and tasted like it they had been waiting for me to order them since the location opened months before. I didn't want to judge it TOO harshly - so many people love it! The lines are always so long! - so I gave it another shot a few weeks later. I ordered the same thing (for science!), and I ended up with the same result: so-so burger, pathetic fries. My son likes me reviewing restaurants so this is his attempt at reviewing an in&out: He says," it tastes really good the cheese is real and not fake, they listen well. The meat isn't made out of fake parts of the cow. Everything they put in the food is real and it just tastes really good, honestly. And the bad thing about it was the sugar looked like salt and I put it on my fries. And that did not taste nice! And that was just an accident. In N Out is awesome; this location is no exception. Delicious burgers, served with a So Cal flair, simple menu where everything is good, affordable prices, good value, old fashioned vibe, quick service, open super late, and thin-cut mildly salted fries. They give you a mat for your lap when you eat in the car. The buns are almost chewy they are so soft, and the meat doesn't taste fake like you would experience at most burger joint counterparts. In N Out stands apart from the usual suspects. My wife hates the place, though, which makes it so I have to sneak out alone to enjoy it, though, so I know its not for everyone. In-n-Out is always delicious, so when I saw one while in Draper I immediately pulled into the parking lot. By In-n-Out standards, this one was quiet and almost peaceful...every other franchise I've been to in California is usually packed to the brim with a drive thru line of vehicles wrapping around the building. Not so, here...the staff moved at a much slower pace and I actually was able to sit in a booth for once. Yes, this was a little disconcerting, but I didn't mind the change at all. It did get a little bit more busy by the time we left, but still super quiet in comparison to my many other experiences at In-n-Out. The food was tasty as usual. Pros: The menu is very simple so you don't have to sit there looking at the menu trying to figure out what you want to get. The food is quick and it all tastes fresh! I really enjoy their milkshakes. Cons: The drive-thru usually has a monster of a line so I always recommend just parking the car and walking inside, although there can sometimes be a line inside as well. Horrible. This was our first and last trip! My wife and I dropped in one night to get some dinner. We both ordered the cheeseburger combo meal. No onions. As they are of the devil. My wife also ordered a strawberry shake instead of the soda. Well, our food finally came about 10 minutes later. My wife's burger was raw in the middle and she had to have another one made. The second one was still a little red, but she ate it anyway. Mine was red, but I too, sadly ate it anyway. I must admit however, the bun was nicely toasted. But it was hard to enjoy that over my soggy, salty fries, and much annoyed wife! My wife said her shake was nothing to yelp about, pun intended. But I guess I was left wondering what the "yelp" all the fuss is about this place?! There are many other places I could have gone to get an undercooked burger that was thinner than the sole of my shoe, and some soggy fries. read more

Top notch drive thru. For food made fresh, the wait isn't too bad. I love how they ask if your eating it in the car because they will plate it instead of bagging it. I recommend the animal style only if you like saucy. I love it!! Add fresh made fries all for less then $5?? No wonder the business has remained so popular. I may get crucified for the 3 stars, but I just don't get it. Here is the thing I love... they always ask me if I'm eating in my car and then give me a placemat for my lap. I think that is so cool that I'd almost eat here just for that. Otherwise I don't get the craziness surrounding the food. The burger is good, not amazing. While it is different strokes for different folks, I've never liked the fries. The shakes are really good, but by the time I get there with a burger, shake and fries, I've eaten more than my entire allottment of daily calories. Yes, it's a fun, cool and funky place, but it was more rewarding when there wasn't a million of them in SLC and something you had to drive to Vegas to experience and enjoy. Ok, first of all, I've been an In-n-out fan since I was little. I don't go regularly since I try to eat home cooked whole foods, however, I like that I can get a solid protein-style burger with tons of protein and almost no carbs. I always order the 6x6 protein style. 6 patties, 6 cheeses. THEY REFUSED TO SERVE ME ONE HERE!! I wouldn't be upset but I just got one last week in Orem. They said something like the quality of the meat is lower if they use that many patties. Lame excuse in any case. So, I've come to the conclusion that I will never return to the Draper location. In-N-Out is awesome. Don't expect anything fancy. This is a basic burger joint that has earned its cult-like following by keeping it simple. Fresh ingredients, fast service, and a willingness to do almost anything you want to your burger. And, cheap--less than six bucks for a cheeseburger, fries, and an extra large drink. I love In-n-Out burger and so this review was always going to be biased (positively). Fantastic quality (food & service) and great prices. Had a double double and it tasted great. If I had more time I would have added cooked in chilies & got the buns extra toasted. I used to lobby for them to open a location in Albuquerque, NM, but now am hoping for an Orlando, FL location (which I know is highly unlikely). As a CA girl I will always put In-N-Out above any other fast food burger: the ingredients are sourced from known farms, the service is fantastic, the locations always clean, the food ALWAYS CONSISTENT! I've been eating In-N-OUT since I can remember...the same every. single.time... SUPER TASTY! I always order my burgers spread only and my fries well done. What can i say. I love In N Out. Plus, this particular store has a sentimental value to me because it was the first place I stopped at after the mothership dropped me in Utah many years ago. Now it's like the only burger joints that I frequent. The burgers are delicious and just the correct size for me without leaving me feel like I have eaten a cow. The buns, patties and lettuce taste fresh. Get animal style for those caramelized onions, which tastes so good 'till eating in any other way is almost a sin. The fries are good too. Home-made good. I'm not too fond of the animal style fries though, they tend to get a bit too cheesy and soggy after awhile. For drinks, I like the Shakes. Thick and creamy. I was hungry. I went through the drive-thru. I ordered a double/double. I ate it. My car smelled like it for two days. These places are okay, but I really don't understand the hype around it. Wait, yes I do... It's cheap! Mystery solved. I have another theory. I think people go to this place for the same reason people watched the TV show Friends. No one really likes them, they just watch/eat there because everyone else does. Plus, this place has a serious ego. Any restaurant that has a "secret" menu is a joke. The only thing I'm not a fan are the fries. They're good fresh, but it doesn't take long before their soggy and not very good.
