I've ordered for catering from Ipps many times, and I've NEVER had a more positive experience. The orders are always complete, and nothing is ever omitted. In addition condiments are always included without even asking, and they are generous with the extras: dressing, parm, and items like crushed red pepper. I went yesterday with a friend who had never been to Ipp's before. I'd been several times, and was excited to share this new place with her. We ate, talked, and enjoyed...and was miserably full after. I had my usual chicken parm, and it was wonderful, as always. The portions are enormous (enough for 2 meals). The garlic rolls are slap-your-mama amazingly good. And if you can, try to save room for dessert...they have at least 10 to choose from, and the cake slices are as big as your head. I usually have the chocolate chip cannolis, as they're not too big and just the right size after eating such a huge and filling meal. Our server was a delight, and really looked after us. I grew up eating at this place, and I've had more birthday dinners here than I can count. Ipp's is a big part of the reason I was 45 pounds heavier a few years ago! Their portions are ginormous, and the menu offers a great variety: pastas, pizzas, calzones, Italian specials like Veal Parmesan, paninis, and great salads and appetizers. I always get the Mussels Marinara, and it never disappoints. They are most famous for their homemade garlic rolls, which they bring out free of charge. I highly recommend this place!!!!! read more

My cousin brought us here after a busy day of shopping. He has two little boys that can be quite the handful so him and his wife don't too often go out but when they do, he says they come here. He told me the garlic rolls were amazing so I was anxious to try it out. We called ahead to make sure of the wait (since little kids can get cranky quick) and upon arrival were promptly seated -- albeit in a corner. First off our service was TERRIBLE. Our waiter himself was a nice guy but he literally forgot about us. We sat there for about 15 or so minutes before he came to get our drink orders. After that we had to wait an additional 10 minutes or so to get our drinks. We were naturally voracious by this time and had to ask another server if we could have garlic rolls. My cousin wasn't wrong the garlic rolls were AMAZING (and it wasn't just because I was keeling over in hunger pangs). Full of garlic, oil and parmesan. I devoured like 3 of them before our waiter even came to take our order. When we finally ordered our entrees, I got the Cheese Tortellini in Cardinale sauce (a mix of alfredo and marinara sauce), my cousin got the manicotti, his wife the linguine with cream pesto and for the kids we ordered 2 cheese pizzas. A plus was our entrees also included salad. By the time our entrees came I was so full from the rolls and salad I could barely touch the plate. On top of that the portions were HUGE. I had lunch AND dinner for the next day. However, it was absolutely TASTELESS. I couldn't understand how a restaurant could make such flavorful rolls and their pasta & sauces tasted like nothing? It wasn't such a bad thing that I was full, this way I could go home and add my own seasoning to the pasta. Our waiter completely forgot about one of the pizzas and on top of that he knocked over one of my nephew's milk and didn't even bother to clean it up. In the end the pizza thing ended up ok because the kids were able to share one but still the lack of attention from our waiter was appalling. At least he remembered to take the extra pizza off the bill. That's why I gave it 3 stars for lack of service and bland pasta. We were craving for pasta so we decided to go here since it was close by. Definitely not a fan! We ordered the chicken tortellini and shrimp marsala. The chicken tortellini was okay after the first few bites, but after the third bite or so I was already sick of eating it. They put way too much sauce on it and it was too cheesy for me. The shrimp marsala was too sweet for my liking. I usually like Marsala but this dish didn't satisfy me. read more

True Authentic Italian Food! From the Antipasto plate to their amazing garlic rolls, everything here is really good. We've been regulars here for a little over a year here and recently had our wedding reception in their Bocce Room. Kim and Pat were amazing! They worked with our budget and suggested items that would go over well with large groups. They also let me come in often to evaluate the room on how I wanted things to be set up. My wife and I have been frequenting Ippolitos for many years. We visited tonight to try out "prime rib" night. What a disaster. The service was mediocre, as usual, but the dinners were a complete ripoff. Decided to try "Prime Rib Night". We both ordered prime rib, and a bottle of Argentine Malbec (at $30). One dinner was ordered with vegetables, and the vegetables were so drenched in butter that they made me ill. The other dinner was served with fries, which were crisp and tasty, but far too oily, which again produced to same quesy effect. The so-called prime rib could not possibly pass for prime rib, even at Golden Corral. The slices were GRILLED (WTF?) and were at most 3/8 inch thick. I can't believe I actually tried to eat it. The wine was, at most, a $5.99 wine remarketed at $30. AND I PAID $80 after tip. Been coming here for 25 years - no more, even though they are right outside my subdivision. I asked to speak to the manager; it took 15 minutes for him to show up. He listened intently, was polite, but no relief from the injustice, after being robbed of $80. I can do so much better than this for $15! STAY AWAY What has happened to this place??? Is there no option for "no stars"? read more

We came in for late lunch on a Sunday afternoon and were promptly seated.. in the corner behind an enormous group. After several minutes beyond when you'd normally get to place a drink order, a waitress showed up with "whoops, didn't even see y'all in the corner back there." We were starving, so this wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear. The garlic knots and marina did come pretty promptly after that, but they weren't "slap your mama" good. They were OK. I'd like them with much more garlic and a lot less parm. Both of us picked a pasta entree and our Caesar salads came out shortly after that. A bit heavy on the dressing for my taste, but it tasted good, or maybe I was just *that* hungry. The sausage and peppers was a B-, but my Cheese Tortellini in Pesto Cream sauce was .. indescribably not good. In fact, I packed up 70% of it and it sat in the fridge until I just tossed it. I didn't want to eat it. The tortellini were either too salty or too bland, I couldn't say which, and the sauce was also.. salty or bland. Really it was just a week ago I ate it and I can't remember except to say it just didn't taste right. Also, every single TV in the place was on and blaring the Falcons game even though when we got in it was pretty deserted. I find TVs in the dining area to be extremely distracting, especially when there is one on every wall, so I don't go to sports bars or eat at the bar area. So, I was annoyed by the two TVs in our section which kept drawing my eyes when the screen colors would change. I wish this would have been advertised on their site or review sites, I would have avoided going there. We might try this again and get different entrees, but it's pretty low on the list now due to the Meh entrees and the annoying TVs. I do have to say that the service was very friendly after that first hurdle of getting noticed, though. Would I go again soon? No. Would I send other folks here? Quite likely, at least give it a try if you like Italian. read more

I'm in LOVE! On a trip down to see my boyfriend's family we were craving Italian food (besides Olive Garden). His uncle recommended Ippolito's, and I want them to move one up to Chicago! Every single thing we had was amazing! The garlic rolls alone are enough to deserve a 5 star rating. The desserts were fresh, and the pasta was scrumptious! The only thing we liked about this location was the friendly servers. The food is food court quality. Everything is soaked in oil. My pasta was not cooked properly, some of the noodles stuck together on the ends and were hard. Even the steamed broccoli was soaked in oil. The eggplant rollitini was like eating a pound of melted cheese with a side of oil. Couldn't even taste eggplant. The owner should take a trip to other ipps locations to see how to do it right. read more

I've had Ipp's cater for me many times, and they have the most amazingly consistent catering I've ever dealt with. They never leave anything out, are never late, and the food is always a hit. I've been going to Ippolito's for 25 years - ever since they were located in the other shopping center up by 400. Have always loved their food...until my trip there last Thursday evening. The rolls with marinara were still delicious as always. Unfortunately, that is where the quality ended. Our house salads came and they were nothing but bowls packed with lettuce. They used to do such a nice presentation on the salads, but not this one. Then I had the linguine with white clam sauce and although there were a lot of tiny clams in it, the sauce was more of a creamy sauce rather than the olive oil/garlic that I was used to and was expecting--it was a huge disappointment. The server was adequate but did not go out of her way to make sure we were happy with our meals. i was incredibly let down since I moved away from the area about a year ago and was so excited to get to go back. I first started visiting this resturant when I worked out in Norcross. My co-workers and I would frequent this place for lunch. My favorite dish is a salad with chicken. I don't remember the exact name of this salad, but it's so good. You get a lot of salad and the chicken is soooo good. It appears they grill a large thick chicken breast and then cut it into small pieces and throw it in the salad. I love eating this salad with the house dressing. They also bring a basket of fresh oven baked rolls glazed in garlic sauce (sooo good). If you want dessert, you better save a lot of room. The desserts are mostly huge slices of cake. read more

So me and a group of friends went to Ippolito's a couple weeks ago for a Murder Mystery Dinner that I had organized for the 12 of us. I was able to make reservations and think I only had to wait maybe 5 minutes after my reservation time. To me, 5 minutes isn't a huge deal. They put us in a cute little corner which was perfect for what we were planning to do. Unfortunately 2 people did not show up to dinner, and it could have screwed everything up (we all had a specific role after all). With us all in costumes and fake accents we were really bummed that things weren't going to work out. That was until our waiter (I believe his name is Kevin S.) came over to get our drink order. He was such an awesome young man and agreed to play one of the parts in our murder mystery! (it was even a female part, and he was sure to adjust his voice accordingly.) Throughout the night, he made sure that everything was prepared the correct way, and made sure that our drinks were filled. We had a slight problem when our vegetarian friend got meat sauce on her pasta by mistake, however Kevin was sure to take care of it right away! What I appreciated about this visit to Ippolitio's was our waiter's outgoing personality. He really made our evening a blast for sure! I really hope that he gets a chance to read this because I believe his hard work should be acknowledged. read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. It's really gone down hill since my last visit and we won't be going back (if they're still in business). The service was horrible. We weren't greeted upon entrance, nor departure of the restaurant. We were seated in a noisy area and given greasy, dirty menus. Our waiter was in a big hurry to get us in and out, that was obvious. Since I was being rushed, I decided to order my usual dish, the "Seafood Trio". The food did come quickly, but we couldn't get service after that. When the waiter left the table next to ours, I started to say "excuse me", but before I could even get the first word out, the waiter snapped back at me "Just a minute!". So when he came, I asked for fresh ground pepper. He said that they didn't have any. I then proceeded to taste my Seafood Trio, and it was terrible. Completely bland, no taste, and certainly not fresh. It was NOTHING like the Seafood Trio that I used to rant and rave about. When the waiter finally came back to clear our table, I informed him that I was not happy with my meal. His sarcastic reply was that "I should have told him sooner and maybe he could have done something". Well, if he would have come back to our table, I WOULD have told him sooner! Since I only had a few bites to eat, why would it matter anyway if I had told him sooner? So absolutely nothing was done to rectify the situation. I paid $16.95 for two bites of tasteless food and a bad attitude from the waiter. Even though the food and service was terrible, my husband still left the customary gratuity (I certainly wouldn't have). There was no "thank you", "come back again", "have a nice evening"...NOTHING. This visit left a VERY bad taste in my mouth and we won't be going back. read more
