The restaurant has a really small menu of almost entirely seafood, but the food is amazing and fresh, and the staff is super friendly. We started with the caprese crab cakes, which were amazing. I had the onion crusted fresh catch with a locally caught fish, minus the bacon sauce, was very good. The fried spinach and mashed potatoes were also good. We had a delicious dinner here before catching a show at the King's Center. The service was welcoming and knowledgeable. We had told them that we were in a bit of a hurry to get to the show snd they were very attentive to that. The fish was fresh and well prepared. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had! I was looking for a backup for my birthday dinner as my first choice was closed on a Monday night. I found this place on Yelp and my parents had heard great things about it so we decided on Islands Fish Grill. Since it was a Monday night we were sat right away without reservations and our server Yani greeted us immediately. We were promptly informed that their location only served wine and beer for alcohol choices, about what was popular, and their specials for the evening. Their fresh catches were Grouper, Snapper, and Corvina. For our appetizer we ordered a dozen steamed oysters for $24 and they were so fresh and perfectly cooked we demolished them in 5 minutes. For our entrees we ordered the Crab and Shrimp Penne, Onion Crusted Snapper and Corvina, and the Corvina special for the night. All of the fish dishes were to die for and were perfectly prepared! For dessert they offered Chocolate Mousse, Key Lime Pie, or their strawberry creme brûlée they had for the evening. Since they only had a few strawberry creme brûlée's left I decided to try it and it became on the house since it was my birthday! The creme brûlée was the perfect way to cap off the night. We ordered: -onion crusted snapper w/grits & corn chimichurri -Cajun grouper w/fried spinach & Caesar salad -grilled Mahi mahi w grits & house salad -2 specials (Parmesan crusted mahi mahi w/ mashed potatoes & bruschetta salad) We did wait a while (45 minutes) but when the food did finally arrived the table went silent. We all finished our food within 15 minutes. ALL of the plates looked like the picture. Absolutely delicious. I tried the others but my dish (onion crusted snapper) was my favorite. Fish was cooked to perfection, so tasty. Grits were otherworldly, corn chimurri was delicious as well. The portion was perfect too. I really couldn't ask for a better dish. And all the others at the table loved theirs too. It was a unanimous enjoyment. For dessert we tried all three (key lime pie, coffee cream broulee, chocolate mousse) and again, finished them clean. Add in a couple glasses of wine, and this restaurant really really impressed. Some of the best fish I've had in a while, and a perfect vibe. It was relatively pricey but not unaffordable and definitely worth the price. My only complaint would be the wait for the food, but good company helped with that and it wasn't enough to detract from the dinner. Crazy fresh fish and incredible, house made desserts. We were a party of six, and tried just about everything on the menu. The snapper, grouper, and mahi mahi were all local and flaky only in the way the freshest fish can be. The chumi churri corn was a standout side, but my four year old would say its tue mashed potatoes. Of the desserts, my fave was the key lime pie, although my family would argue heatedly about the same of the creme broulee and chocolate mouse. Service was great- our waiter was helpful and verynattentive. This coming from a cranky, spoiled New Yorker. The wine selection isn't large, but a good curated selection and great value. Only gripe is about they hilariously tiny portioned house salad (especially vs. the huge bowl of ceasar salad). The decor is a bit dated, but this is where looks are indeed deceiving. read more

You can peruse the menu for wonderful selections that the restaurant offers or go for their 3-course meal. Whatever you choose always go with the almond crusted fish, preferably some sort of white fish. it was so good everytime I had it. The fish was cooked just right; it was moist yet cooked thoroughly. The crust added flavor without overpowering the freshness of the fish. The price was reasonable, and the service was always good. This is one of our favorite spots to visit, I have been here a few times now and I have loved it every time. The onion crusted grouper is amazing the fish is so fresh and with the crusted onion and sweet glaze with a bite of mashed potatoes and fried spinach it is a great meal. So we called for reservations on Wednesday for Friday night at 7. We were told booked solid, but we can get you in at 5:30. Being old folks that we are, we took the 5:30 time slot. A couple of salads, mine was ceasar and just ok, but my spouse had a very nice basalmic salad. Her's was better. Then, for entreesI I had crusted grouper, and the wife had scallops and shrimp. Both were excellent, but I think mine was better. Lol. Had a nice bottle of chardonnay, not overly price, just about right for a restaurant. Fir Desert, I ordered the chocolate mouse, which I did not care for. But my wife's key lime was the best we had ever had. More sweet than sour. Delicious! While visiting Melbourne, I checked with hotel concierge of a good place they can recommend for dinner during this COVID-19 period and they highly recommended Island Fish Grill as a safe very clean, privately family owned and very good, so without hesitation called in a reservation and we were on our way. We arrived and was pleasantly surprised to see a nicely decorated location set up with safe distancing indoor dining and a very friendly hostess. We were promptly seated and service was very good as we were frequently asked by staff how our experience is going. I'd also like to emphasize how much care the staff took to keep things clean and wearing face mask. Food was excellent as we ordered choice of fresh catch fish cooked in their specialty onion crusted and sides of fried spinach and grits was amazing. We are tourists to the area and this was our first stop on our "Floridian seafood app tour", and this restaurant set the bar TOO high! I should mention this spot gets all of their fish from local fisherman. We tried the Thai chili shrimp appetizer and the smoked fish dip (which was a special). They were both amazing. The smoked fish dip had a perfect Smokey flavor, I haven't tried anything like it before. It came with hot and fresh chips that served as the perfect base for this dip. The Thai chili shrimp was simply exquisite, it was sweet with a kick! The mango salsa on top complemented the spiciness perfectly. This app is a MUST try!. Im originally from the north east and a few years ago I moved back to NY but on a recent visit decided to take the wife to Islands. To start we ordered thai shrimp. They arrived over cooked, partially cold and the sauce...well it was a lime of sriracha splattered on the bowl. I ordered trigger fish, now while I have had them as pets I never ate one and decided to try it. The onion crust seemed to be made of those fired onions from the can u put on green beans at thanksgiving only they were crushed into the top of the fish. The brussel sprouts were un cooked. While they are supposed to be firm these were raw. The grits were solid balls and not made any way a well respecting grits lover would expect. Am I jaded by eating meals in manhatten? Mmm no this meal at island really sucked even by brevard county standards. With food like this how is it possible this place has been open for decades? 1/2 a star ***to reply to John T regarding his description of how the food is prepared and plated. The shrimp were indeed cold upon arrival. The grits was actually hard and in the shape of a ball on the plate. Im glad John T finds my review funny, however I dont.
