    Crab Cakes Caprese

Islands Fish Grill is a small, cozy spot in Indialantic that fills up quickly -- and with that comes a lively (sometimes loud) atmosphere once the tables fill.. but it's worth the small distraction, as everything we tasted was incredibly fresh and worth the buzz. Our server Miles was super charming, funny, and made the evening feel easy and fun. Service like that makes all the difference. We started with oysters, and I love that they offer them in so many preparations. The raw were briny and bright and the broiled with spinach; I'd happily order again. The crab cakes were next-level -- thick, rich, perfectly fried, generous and paired with basil pesto in more of a caprese style. Hands down, the best crab cakes I've EVER had. For entrées, I went with the special: sheep's head (don't worry -- it's a fish, not an actual sheep's head!). The fish was delicate and cooked beautifully, topped with an onion crust that came with a sauce so good they should be bottling and selling it. On the side, I had the fried spinach -- which deserves its own standing ovation. It might honestly be the best spinach I've ever had cooked any way, anywhere. The whole experience felt like one of those meals where every dish had a highlight, and I left already planning my return. Between the fresh seafood, a few unforgettable bites (that spinach and those crab cakes!), and Miles' friendly charm, Islands Fish Grill is a gem I'll be revisiting soon.

What a fantastic dinner! We loved everything about this place - from the excellent service (Miles was our server), to the delicious fresh seafood. We started with a glass of wine (with some assistance from our server - he had outstanding recommendations). Then enjoyed fresh fish, grits, fried spinach, mashed potatoes and tasty clam chowder. We ended with a slice of key lime pie. Everything was perfectly prepared, made to order and a terrific introduction to the Melbourne area. Many of the diners were obviously locals enjoying a Friday night out - and I can see why!

hands down one of the best fish fillets of my life. Got the onion crusted sheepshead fillet with grits and broccoli, cleared my plate. Wife had some incredible scallops and the kids penne pasta was top class. wrapped up with a slice of home made key lime pie, incredible all around.

This place lives up to the hype and ratings!!! 10 Star Meal!! You need to get the amazingly delicious onion crusted snapper, fried spinach, and Grits!! Snapper was a mix of salted onion crust sitting on top of a sweet sauce...perfect blend and cooked perfectly as it was tender and moist. Fried spinach was uniquely addicting...I wanted more! Grits were great...smooth with some texture and blended well as the right starch for the dish. Ambiance was nice. Bar was empty on a Wednesday night and has about 10 seats. Service was fantastic even if it was just 4 servers. They have beer, soda and wine for beverage options. Parking is free at the back and shared with beachside cafe. You need to go, you won't be disappointed!

Dinner last night was so good that my partner suggested I lick the plate. I didn't because it is a restaurant but yes it was that good. Start with the appetizers - we went with their potato skins which were alright but the shrimp appetizer was outstanding. I would go back just for that but then I would have missed the main course. I had the onion crusted snapper and my companion went with a mahi-mahi blackened special. They were both incredible. As for dessert, I usually skip that but the mention of creme brulee lit up my eyes and that was all she wrote. I tasted his key lime pie which was also delicious. The best meal I have had in awhile.

Parking can be a bit tricky but well worth it. Our reservation was for Saturday evening at 7:00 pm. Our table wasn't ready immediately but the hostess was so sweet. Based on other reviews we got the Thai Shrimp & Bacon Citrus Chips as starters. The shrimp was good but the Chips were AMAZING. My husband said it was like movie theater popcorn, you want to stop eating them but just can't because it's so good. I got the grouper special with a pesto parm crust, broccolini, parm grits. My husband got the onion crusted grouper with broccolini and house side salad. Both grouper were very good but we both preferred the onion crusted. The grits were so creamy and seasoned beautifully. We both said this was one of the best meals out we've had in awhile. As a note, they only serve beer & wine which wasn't a problem for us but patrons should be aware.

I really enjoyed my food and interactions with the staff. The place is situated in a wacky building off a side street on the busy road and you enter into the back of the it to get to the hostess stand. My server, Yanni, thoroughly explained my dining options and I decided to with the special menu in which has a list of starters, some entrée choices and dessert. A really unique approach to crab cakes was where I landed and I wasn't disappointed. I highly recommend this place!

This place may not look like much from the outside, but once you step inside, the old-Florida atmosphere around the piano area completely changes the experience. It has a romantic, classic vibe that makes it perfect for an evening out with someone special. The service was absolutely excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food came out surprisingly quickly. The drink selection is great, and the cocktails are well made, taste fantastic, and definitely do their job! The live piano music really sets the mood for an evening of fine dining, drinks, and conversation. The food was very good, with both steak and seafood options that hit the belly just right. Definitely make a reservation if you want a good table, especially near the piano. Great atmosphere, excellent service, good food, and a memorable night. I would absolutely return!

We arrive on time for our reservation. We are greeted, if that's what you want to call it, by a tall older man. I swear he looked at us like, can you really afford to eat here? So the initial interaction was rather poor. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so maybe he just had a bad day. Yeah, apparently not. The place is very pretty and certainly airs of a higher end establishment. After Mr. Snooty took us to our table, we were greeted by, ready for this, and even more snooty lady. Think Mrs. Howell. It's kind of like going on a date with a psychiatrist, knowing that they are judging every word that's coming out of your mouth. Lol. So after getting a lay of the land from her, we ordered some drinks, which were fantastic. Then the first course came and it was fabulous. We had the escargot and the oysters Rockefeller. Yum. The Escargot was buttery and soft. The oysters were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. We tried a lobster bisque and it was so so good. The touch of sherry was perfect. As for the Caesar's salad, this was the star of the evening. It was one of the best I've had and is what a Caesar salad should taste like. I am seriously considering going back there just for that salad. For dinner my wife had a lobster tail. She reports it was excellent. The snooty lady wanted me to try some special they had, but I went for the lamb chops. Again, perfect, medium rare. Winner. Snooty lady went uber obnoxious snooty after I didn't pick her choice. I was scared for the rest of the night. Overall price to food value, negative 100 billion. Food was fantastic. $250 for the portion sizes not worth it. Then again, even if they were bigger, not worth the price. Like I said, go for the salad and pass on the rest. Make you car payment and go to a more reasonably priced place that won't treat you like you need to have a credit report or occupation that they might approve of. Oh and they had some nice live music. That was good. Too bad, the staff put a damper on the birthday dinner.

Three people in our party ordered the Shrimp and Scallop Piccata and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you choose the angel hair pasta, I'd recommend asking for a little extra sauce since the pasta tends to soak it up. I ordered the Blackened Seared Shrimp and Scallops Alfredo, and it was outstanding. The Alfredo sauce was rich, creamy, and silky smooth, perfectly coating the pasta and seafood. We recently dined here after making a reservation and had a solid, but not standout, experience…read more The ambiance is super cute--definitely one of the highlights. It has that cozy Italian feel that makes you want to settle in and enjoy a good meal. They're located in this strip mall, but walking in the restaurant made you felt like you were transported somewhere special. They started us off with fresh bread, olive oil, and Parmesan, which we appreciated. One thing I found a bit unusual was that salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes aren't automatically on the table. They do provide them, but only upon request--and it's a standard salt shaker with fresh cracked pepper. Not a big deal, but it feels like something that could have came out with the oil and Parmesan. We started with the calamari, which was nicely fried--crispy on the outside and mostly tender, though a few pieces leaned a bit chewy. The marinara sauce was straightforward and a bit plain, nothing that really elevated the dish. My wife ordered the shrimp pasta. It was decent overall, but when I asked if she would order it again, she said no--which kind of sums it up. I had the clams and linguini in a white wine sauce. The linguini itself was cooked perfectly, but the clams were rubbery, which usually points to being overcooked. The sauce leaned too sharp and acidic, lacking that balance you expect from a proper white wine sauce--typically finished with butter to round it out and bring everything together. That richness was definitely missing which added to a poor experience for me. Service was slower than expected. It took about 50 minutes to receive our main dishes after ordering, which felt long--especially for a reservation-only restaurant and we ordered seafood dishes which doesn't take long to make. Pricing also felt a bit high for what you get and sides are all à la carte, which adds up quickly without a noticeable bump in portion size or overall experience. If the food and service matched the ambiance, this would have been a much stronger overall experience. As it stands, it was decent, but it didn't quite meet my dining expectations given the pricing and reservation-only setup.

Both times, I finally gave up and left. Tonight I decided to give it one more try. It's beachfront, it's a beautiful location, and I really wanted to like this place. I ordered the salmon, which was around $30. It was so dry I couldn't eat it, and it tasted freezer-burned to me. The sauce tasted manufactured rather than fresh, the rice was fine, and the green beans were completely bland. I took essentially one bite and stopped eating. What made it worse was the service. My virtually untouched dinner sat in front of me for several minutes without anyone checking to see whether everything was okay....even though the restaurant was not remotely busy and appeared to have plenty of staff. I also ordered a spicy skinny margarita, which was surprisingly syrupy-sweet. I drank it because I wasn't about to let perfectly good tequila go to waste, but it wasn't a good margarita. To their credit, when someone finally came over and I explained that I couldn't eat the salmon, they removed the entrée from my bill. I appreciated that and think it's important to mention it. But three visits tell a story. Twice I couldn't get served at all. The third time I finally got served, but the food, cocktail, and attentiveness were all disappointing. For a beachfront restaurant at this price point, I simply expect better. Great location, enormous potential, but based on my three experiences, I won't be back. The best thing that happened tonight was meeting a fellow writer sitting next to me at the bar. Unfortunately, Tide & Tonic can't take credit for that. It gets a 1 star as bartender was so very sweet about it all.

Coming from Dallas, a city with a steakhouse on practically every corner, I can say we definitely know our steaks and steak house experiences. We also travel all over the world looking for the best steak experiences locally. When we first came here, we thought we'd found Melbourne's best. The closest to fine dining steak back home. But over the years, things have just slidden down hill. The once impressive share board has A) not changed in its inclusions during this 5+ year span; and B) gone down in quality considerably. If you look at the pictures of our boards over the years you'll see the Caesar used to be long, elegant romaine leaves with the most delicious lemony-crunchy topping with superior house made dressing. Now it has boring store-looking croutons, no lemon-crunch topping, and the dressing tastes as boring as the salad looks. The potato used to be a large, hassleback prepared encased in a blanket of cheese with another delicious cheese dressing poured on top of that. Now, they just dump a bunch of wet something in the middle of an open lackluster potato. Not only are the items themselves getting more boring, but the board itself being the same for 6 years is boring. Why not change it up? If you can't make an actually good Caesar anymore, why not swap it for a wedge? If you can't be bothered to make a presentable potato - one of the cheapest things for a restaurant to do - why not do some au gratin? Or, why not have 2-3 different boards for people to choose from? Why did they just give up on this concept and themselves? Yes - you can order individual separate sides, but you can do that anywhere. What made this restaurant stand out, and shine like steakhouses in bigger cities, is now dragging them down. We've also really struggled with the hosts over the years. Rude. Inattentive. Not seating in a timely manner despite reservations and an empty restaurant. Being forced into uncomfortably tiny 2-seaters where you feel like you're on a date with the tables next to you. This is the most unromantic thing to do to diners. I would usually never complain about prices at a steakhouse. Again, steakhousing is a hobby of ours and we are fully invested. But... the prices USED to be completely justified given the quality food and experiences. Now... I'd say there are plenty of other restaurants in town with better quality, better service, better vibes - for a better price. I miss the patio vibes. I miss wine by the fire pits. I miss friendly servers and hosts and well-executed offerings. That's such a bummer. If their business couldn't sustain the patio area, maybe they should have thought about why people weren't coming back and made efforts to correct that. Instead of taking away the things they still had going for themselves and flopping on the things they continued offering. What used to be a beautiful location with great service and a thoughtful menu is now a played out shell of its former self. I've shared feedback with the restaurant multiple times over the years, and nothing changes. Like... literally nothing changes unless it's actually getting worse. It's gone downhill, guys. No matter how many videos you post on social of your chefs and how proud you are of your food... I will not be fooled, again.
