Its Not Cheap even for a hole in the wall of a place on freaky Aurora Ave. Food is good. choose the old favorites like original Fish and Chips. Service is Fast. Establishment is clean. A simple lunch for two with sodas $25.00 and I still felt hungry or shall I say feeling semi adequate. An average male probably would need to order at least 8 fishes and fry basket. A 200lb plus male probably need 10 fish pieces and fry basket to feel full. What can i say the fishes are not that big and so you would need to fill yourself with fries.. read more

I've been to this Ivar's a number of times in the past. My hat is tipped to them for my free Veteran's meal today. Paul and Lisa are exceptional as the people out front. Food is always consistently quintessential Pacific NW fried seafood. I went for the 3 piece Fish and chips since it has the best salt level and protein to fat ratio vs other Veteran options. I thought the food was pretty good and the service was really good. I had a cup of the clam chowder which was pretty good and the fish and chips. The portions were a little small but very tasty. I ate with my family and it was nice and quiet and until a huge group of people came in and started talking really loud. Reluctant at first to try fast food deep fried fish, I gotta say this was a treat. Real fresh fish: cod, halibut, salmon, LIGHTLY breaded (available with Cajun spices y'all),not greasy. And the chips (fries) were cooked to perfection. Outside seating (which means you can bring your pooch) Customer service and management, cheerful, friendly, attentive, brought food to our table, checked back to see if all was to our liking. Wow!!!!! I was not prepared for how good this place really is. I came in to have some fish and chips which often disappoint in the breading to fish ratio. I'll say it again "Wow!!" - the breading was light but the fish (and I had the standard fish not the upgraded halibut) was incredible - thick, meaty, flavorful, not greasy or over cooked. I will forever compare fish and chips to this place and sure wish there was something even remotely comparable in SoCal. This location was crazy busy on 9/1 for dinner. Half n half original and Cajun fish n chips. Very tasty. Grilled Salmon salad was good. It's a nice family friendly fast food joint. Went for casual dinner with a party of 5 and everything was excellent. It is seat yourslef dining, order up front, but they bring the food to your table. The wait-people are courteous and very helpful. The Scallops and chips were outstanding as usual. The white clam chowder is very good, maybe a little thick for some but real clam flavor. The Smoked Salmon chowder is savory and a little thinner - yum. The oysters looked a little dark to me, but before I could say anything, the waiter brought an additional less done batch, saying he "thought the other oysters looked a little crisp". They were, but also delicious. The fish and chips are Alaskan cod, and crisp and juicy - first rate. Dinner usually works out to $10-$12/adult, but we were stuffed, with food to take home. This is a real "Seattle seafood experience" and I highly recommend it for a simple, casual, peaceful meal read more

This is fast food, so there are limits to what you can expect. But this Ivars exceeds those limits with their friendly and enthusiastic service. These folks really try to create a pleasant experience. The dining room has the customary hard bench seats, etc., but it is open and pleasant. Despite the location, on busy #99, there is something of a neighborhood vibe to it. The fish and chips are pretty good. We came in close to closing time for a bowl of their delicious clam chowder. We were considering KFC next door but they wanted too much for too little. It was quite satisfying as usual, but especially in this case after the sugar and lard overdose at Krispy Kreme about twenty minutes before. The environment is a little more typical of a fast food establishment than some of their other locations and therefore a little more welcoming. I give this place three stars because, while the staff was nice, they let someone wander the tables asking people annoying questions as they ate. read more

I was out running errands and got hungry. In spite of vowing not to go to one of the Ivar's fastfood locations again, I was craving Fish and Chips. They are having their 75th Anniversary sale. I had the three piece Sole and Chips with Cole Slaw on their special. I was envisioning that the sole would be dried out as it is not a huge chunk of fish like cod. The thinner ends were a little dry. It did taste fishier than the dover sole I usually get at home, but was pretty good.
