This review is for their amazing carrot cake. Delicious is the word! I also had the firecracker pasta without the chicken sub vegetables, it was pretty good and delicious. Good service, good food, good ambience. Will be back.

Hubby and I stopped in for date night on the weekend, what a treat! Excellent food and service! Our server Judah was attentive and very knowledgeable. He answered all our questions with ease and made sure our drinks were always full. Ask for him if you stop in.

I had another amazing lunch at J Alexander's. It's a great place to hang out with friends. Judy was our waiter. He was absolutely fantastic. The food was amazing and the environment was so peaceful and clean as usual. 10/10.

Edit to previous review...they have added a 6% package fee to their take out orders, a big thumbs down. Also, it has been a bit since I was last here, but the salads have jumped in price to $20. Yes, they are big, but it seems high. The food quality remains great and food is delicious, but with the higher cost, sadly.it will be awhile before I go back, if I ever do...

Louisville Lager and Cindy's Lemon Drop

We had a wonderful dinner, the service is top notch and the Cindy's Lemon Drop is delicious! We enjoyed the Emerald Coast Shrimp app, Baby Back Ribs (fall right off the bone) and Prime Rib (best in The Ville).. Highly recommend this place.

Staff was friendly, atmosphere was inviting and comfortable. We had a party of 5 and Chandler handled us perfectly, recommending appetizers and delivering main courses very quickly. Desserts were epic and I suggest trying the carrot, it's a new twist with soooo much flavor.

#37 of 52 (weeks of trying a new restaurant at least once a week) We were in town for a funeral and heard this place was good so we have it a try. Really nice and inviting inside. Our server was great! My honey got the prime rib sandwich with Mac and cheese and I got the trout with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We also decided to share a side salad. The salad came out first and it was so big I told the server it wasn't ours. There was no way that large salad was the side salad. Come to find out she came back with a salad and it was the side salad but it was super huge. We got ranch on it which was good and I really appreciated all the toppings on the salad. Our meals didn't take too long and everything looked really good so we dug in. My honey said his prime rib was really nice and moist and the Mac and cheese was phenomenal. I loved the trout because where I live we don't have fish like that so it was really a treat to get something so light and flaky. Really glad we stopped and if we lived in the area we'd definitely we regulars.

This review is for dinner for two at the bar on a Monday in late March. We've eaten in eight different J. Alexanders. They are uniformly excellent and Louisville is no exception. service: Bar staff was very professional and accommodating. Food runners and other waitstaff were outstanding. bar: My Bulleit Rye Manhattan ($16 as of 03/2025) was the usual fantastic rendition. At the bartender's suggestion, my wife had a glass of Austin Hope Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon ($15) and thought it was great. food: My wife was thrilled to see Grilled Pork Tenderloin ($26) on the menu. This isn't available in every location and it's exceptional. She subbed their excellent orzo and wild rice for the usual smashed reds. I had the Steak Burger ($18) and it was great. Their fries are not to be missed. details: The place was packed on a Monday night. Reservations highly recommended, especially for the weekend. It's on the outskirts of a mall, so there's plenty of surface parking right outside. Although J Alexanders does not have a dress code, the place is upscale and nice.

The American breakfast had large potato pieces, good sausage, and made to order eggs. Hot coffee was on the better side for hotel coffee. Dinner: they were super accommodating, as we were traveling with a friend with an infant. I called ahead to let them know we would come in with a stroller, and they made sure to sit us in an area where the stroller was not in the way of servers or other guests. Our server was one of the most attentive people I have ever met, and every recommendation they gave was fantastic. We started with the oyster rockefellar and the spicy tuna tartare. The oysters were massive and the tuna dish was so good, we got it a second time later in the weekend. We all got steaks for our mains and added a lobster tail - there was a mix up with the lobster tail taking a bit and they ended up bringing out the largest lobster tail to make up for it. All steaks, their sides, and sauces were fantastic- better than most I have had in the DC area. The food was all rich so under order or share amongst friends. Cocktails were of course fantastic, from espresso martinis to the famous smoked old fashions. We had drinks at the bar another night and the service was just as good, though they did tell us that they didn't serve the drink in a smoke box when we certainly had one just a night before.

They offer valet parking for $14, but street parking was easy to find and just a short walk away. We started with the Caesar salad and the wedge salad. Both were good, although the wedge had a bit too much dressing for my taste. I ordered the filet with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and mushrooms. The filet was excellent, and while I'm not usually a mushroom person, these were truly outstanding. The bread was also some of the best I've ever had. I also ordered one of the mocktails, which I enjoyed because it wasn't overly sweet. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. Our waiter was efficient, but he wasn't particularly friendly, and the entire meal felt rushed. Several times, someone tried to clear my plate while I was still eating. We also had to ask for more time more than once before ordering because we felt pressured to make decisions quickly. With a bill of over $300, I expected a more relaxed dining experience where we could enjoy the evening at our own pace.

Their claim to fame seems to be 1) Muhammed Ali used to eat there and 2) they wouldn't serve OJ Simpson and kicked him out. Nick was our incredibly friendly and knowledgeable server. I ordered a half dozen oysters, an iceberg blue salad and a Cowboy rare petite filet mignon steak. We also shared a large side of shishito peppers. The oysters were very fresh and spot on, served with horseradish, vinegar, fresh lemon and Tabasco. They weren't fully shucked, so I had to pry them from the shell. My salad never made it to the table. Nick was mortified and offered to make it right with dessert (which I politely declined). The steak was good and was cooked rare, the way I asked. The weird thing was that the rare steak tasted dry - maybe it was the rub, but a rare steak should not taste dry. Almost like it was cooked medium. I told Nick I liked the steak but it might have been the seasoning that made it taste dry. They comped the steak. Outstanding. They earned a star back. Nick knew how to make a customer feel welcomed, special, and appreciated. Definitely worth a visit, but bring a credit card with a high limit. We had truffle butter, bearnaise, and horse radish sauce. The bearnaise sauce was lacking. The coloring was nice, but the flavor was not there. Sides: Macaroni and cheese - just really good Mac n' cheese. Shishito peppers - skip. The skins are tough, they are too large, they are devoid of flavor. They need a dipping sauce, lime juice, and sea salt. The Brussels sprouts are ok. They almost tasted candied and had no tang to balance the flavor. Inconsistently cooked. Some were crunching and others cooked well. The mashed potatoes were phenomenal. Get them.

Four of us had an excellent experience for our dinner in Louisville, and besides the food, a lot of that experience was due to our server, Julie. She was great, super friendly and professional, and expertly answered a ton of Bourbon-related questions from my Bourbon loving friend. My wife and I dove into the Southern theme and had a Pulled Pork Sandwich ($16), Southern Colada ($16), Fried Green Tomatoes ($10), and a Southern Gumbo ($10) for dinner. I ordered the Fried Gren Tomatoes to share with the table, and they were wonderful - "Five full moon green tomatoes fried in cornmeal and panko, topped with fresh chives and served with Doc's Remoulade". They were light as a feather, most definitely non-greasy and had a great crunch from the panko and cornmeal. My Southern Gumbo (A hearty stew filled with andouille sausage, chicken and vegetables in savory Cajun broth served over rice. Served with cornbread) was excellent. Great flavor, great spice, plenty of sausage and chicken, and excellent accompaniments in the rice and cornbread. And how could I not mention my Southern Colada, with Michter's US*1 Sour Mash, Pineapple Juice & Coconut. It was quite a bit stronger than any Colada I ever had, but I guess that can be expected when you use an 86-proof small batch Kentucky whiskey in your Colada. Of course, I loved it. This was our second visit to Doc Crow. We were there a few days ago as the first stop on our Louisville food tour and enjoyed a delicious bowl of shrimp and grits. The Doc sure treated us well. I don't know if this is a thing they do at Doc Crow's, but in my opinion the bartender excessively kept asking me what I wanted even while I was still looking at the menu. This definitely frustrated me since it was clear that I wasn't ready yet. I think she should have done a better job reading my cues to figure out when I am ready to order.

After a round of drinks, we stayed with appetizers: meatballs, fritto misto, piatto di frutti di mare and the crab cake. Everything was devoured. I loved the crab cake and the meatballs. The fried calamari was pretty standard and the cold seafood platter was fine- I had an oyster off of it. For dinner, I had the "Pappardelle" : short rib ragu alla bolognese, grano padano, and added two seared scallops. Wow. The pasta is homemade. It was phenomenal. My husband had the "Maiale" : 16oz pork chop, cauliflower puree, chard, stone fruit, bourbon glaze. It was a large portion and cooked perfectly. So good. Our friends had steaks and sides, so I was able to try the Mac and cheese- which did not get congealed! The corn was delicious and the mushrooms were a variety. Of course we had dessert. I asked for cannoli and they had it! They weee not soggy. I had three different favors. I love cannoli. These were really good. We also shared the millionaire's tart and some sort of apple crumble with ice cream. Yum. We had more round of drinks throughout including some fun ones - see the treasure chest video. I would recommend this place. They have a great menu. Drinks were awesome. Service topped everything. They went out of their way for us multiple times. Thanks so much. We can't wait to come back again.

Whenever we asked someone to recommend somewhere to eat, they invariably would say La Bodeguita. I…read moream not exaggerating, every single person. We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
