Nothing like working a 12 hour day, looking forward to a good dinner because all you had was coffee all day, plating a nice looking meal and sitting on the couch only to cut into a RAW PORK CHOP. NOT RARE... RAW! I couldn't even heat it up for my husband because our kitchen is being re-done and we have no oven. I had the artichokes and my son had a salad with chicken which we liked. The chicken fingers for my daughter were mushy and not good at all- looked like they needed to go back into the oven for a while, too. I have never had a bad experience at the restaurant (we often go for drinks) until now but I will never, ever do take-out again. I had to pay for a pork chop that went right into the garbage, and it was not cheap, and all my husband had was broccoli and mashed potatoes for dinner. The food here is great, the service is always good, the drinks are very well made and it's a nice ambiance. It's certainly on the pricey side but worth it. The avocado bomb, ribs and grilled chicken salad are personal favorites but I've never had a bad meal here. Good wine list too. read more

I was contemplating on where to go out to eat one night last week and I stumbled upon J. Alexander's, so I decided to check it out as I am new to the area. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a nice young woman by the name of Kelsi. She was so welcoming, I felt as if I was being greeted by one of my family members. Kelsi had such a warm persona. I was reluctant to have to remove two stars from this restaurant, but after last night's service I was extremely disappointed. I went with my boyfriend and his family to celebrate a birthday and we immediately had to wait 20 minutes to order drinks. Our waitress made a rude comment when we asked how much a bottle was that we wished to order. They were out of the rotisserie chicken I wanted to order, so I opted for a the ginger tuna filet instead. We didn't enjoy the wine, and another waiter assisted us in choosing another. Our waitress, Sarah, was no where to be found for the majority of the night. When our food came out it was over cooked, and my boyfriend's included cheese (when he specified no dairy). Sarah again made a condescending comment about our food finally being "good enough" to eat when we asked to please switch to a dairy-free baked potato. I'm only removing two stars because the other two times I have been here have been a 5 star experience. I hope if I come back here again the service is what I've come to expect and that this was just a really bad night for J Alexander's. read more

Wow what a place. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly and the place has a very nice ambience. My parents live in this town and they frequently eat this place. This was our first time going there. I had the steak Brazo which are Filet mignon medallions with a Madeira sauce and wild mushrooms. I wanted to try something different and I'm glad I did. The steak was cooked well. I would've preferred this as one piece of meat but the flavor of the sauce with the wild mushrooms really complemented the steak and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also had the over the top mac & cheese which is made with breadcrumbs and And a awesome cheese and baked to perfection. It was so rich and heavenly! I was in foodie heaven with this and my steak. I devoured everything happily. My Dad has the Flounder Frances and he said it was delicious. My Mom has the grilled Salmon also delicious. My girlfriend had the shrimp and also really enjoy her meal. Her niece had the fried chicken another winner. We ended the meal with a birthday slice of chocolate cake with the vanilla ice cream it was delicious and heavenly as well. We all raved about our meals and I cannot remember the last time I was so satisfied at a nice restaurant like this. There pricing is a little on the high side but for the quality of the meals that you get it's worth it. So to sum it all up the food and the service everything was top-notch! Always a good meal. It's dark, and I can't see, so that's awkward, but the food is consistently good. Service is good. Seats and booths are comfortable. It's also a nice mix of people, from young professionals after work, families, etc. The chicken pasta soup is delicious. The French dip is my favorite thing on the menu. Baked Mac and Cheese is to die for. Fresh chips and queso is delightful. Then there is the carrot cake - warm and perfect every time. Your website suggests a proper attire and it would be nice if were enforced. Took my grandparents here and had a decent experience until waiter asked if we would like to have our leftovers boxed to go. He brought both grandparents food back in your normal box. I don't know if he was pissed off or what he was thinking but he chose to shove my chicken sandwich in a soup cup. It was so unbelievable and awkward I chose to not say anything because my grandparents chose this restaurant. I came home and husband said he never seen anything like it. It was almost a full chicken sandwich smashed into an 8 ounce cup. I could point out waiter tomorrow. I used to go to the Js in Boca who's service is immaculate so I was definitely surprised when I came here. I hate to give J Alexander's one star because they are normally pretty consistent but my experience tonight was awful! I ordered food to pick up and was told it would be ready in 25 min, we got there early and we could see our food was ready. It took a while for someone to hand us our food. (Ok, we understand it's busy) We get home and notice part of our food is missing, very disappointing! Once we start eating the food is cold. All of it. We ordered the chocolate cake for the first time, I don't know how it's possible to mess up chocolate cake but it it tasted like whatever was cooking around it saturated the cake and it tasted like a mix of plastic and onions. Disgusting. One thing after another. We feel like our meal was a complete waste of money. J Alexander's is not exactly cheap. Very unhappy. read more

I have been searching for the *best key lime pie* in South Florida for years... And finally found it at J. Alexander's! This little gem, made in-house, has a pecan graham cracker crust that is perfectly complimentary to the key lime filling. The chopped pecans give it a nice crunch, and the key lime filling is wonderfully tart. Hands down, my favorite key lime pie after years of searching! read more

We chose J. Alexander's because the reviews we read made it look like they offered a variety of different dining options, which they absolutely do. Funny thing is, most of us ordered the exact same thing! We got a sandwich called The Ferdinand. It had turkey, thinly sliced prime rib, mayo, and spicy brown mustard on a baguette. It was served with a brown gravy on the side, which was perfect for dipping! This sandwich also came with a mountain of fries. I ate half the sandwich and brought the other one home. The service was excellent too; the waitress was very knowledgeable and patiently answered all of our questions. J. Alexander's checked all our boxes; we will definitely be back! read more

Came here for a corporate dinner - we reserved the enclosed outdoor patio for cocktails and appetizers before having dinner. This is one of the best outdoor spots where you don't have to worry about the elements of the FL weather. They have the biggest ceiling fans I have ever seen to provide a constant breeze and a very awesome fireplace / pit that I am sure feels great during the one winter month :-) The best dish I like here was their calamari appetizer that melted in your mouth - I think I ate the equivalent of to two orders which didn't leave much room for dinner....I still ate dinner though :-). They make a flavorful half chicken with a mountain of mashed potatoes- I ate the chicken but there was no room for the mashed potatoes. I also had a spoonful taste of their warm carrot cake for desert which was amazing. This is a great place to come for dinner if you are lucky to get a reservation. read more

My family used to eat here at least once a month until about 6 months ago. Me, my aunt and two year old daughter went there for an easily weekday lunch just after 11:00. There were only 2 other tables of customers at the time. My daughter was crying a little bit after my wife ordered drinks. Much to our shock, the manager came to the table and asked us to leave because of the crying baby. On the way out, of of the other tables of customers even commented about how shocked they were that we were kicked out of the restaurant. I could understand a fancy dinner restaurant not allowing kids and their accompanying noises, but I did not expect that from a place I visited regularly and thought was family friendly. With dozens, if not hinders, of other dining options on PGA boulevard I am proud to say that we, our family and friends have not been back since this happened. The day of the incident I called the corporate office to notify them of what happened, but my comments seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. In such a competitive dining environment I really expected more from what used to be an old favorite of our family. Six months later, and now with two children, we have been to many other local restaurants and never experienced another situation like this. read more

Came here this past Sunday afternoon with my cousin Jenny C. We were both starving as it was around 3pm and neither one of us had eaten all day. I hadn't eaten beef in around 25 days and was ready to nosh on a super juicy burger. I heard this was a great place for steak and burgers. We were promptly seated by the super nice hostess. Then our server was Soro. (Spelling?) He's a super nice dude from Venezuela, very informative as we had a lot of questions cause we couldn't decide what we wanted to eat. I was so hungry that I wanted the Ahi Tuna Salad, the Fish Tacos and a Classic Burger. I was saying this to our server and he actually began writing it all down thinking I was actually ordering all of that !!! LOKO!! I broke down and actually went with the burger...with sauteed onions and mushrooms on the side. It was a mile high burger with a nice helping of shoe string french fries. (Thats why I'm not giving 5 stars, because I'm a sucker for thick cut french fries, and they are necessary when eating a burger). Jenny C also had a burger, and instead of fries she ordered the mac n cheese and a loaded potato. It was a DEFINITE cheat day. Our entire table was full of food. And I forgot to mention the sauteed Calamari that we started with. SO AMAZE. They actually brought us two orders (we didn't ask for two) but the first order was small so they sent out another. NICE TOUCH. This place is a nice casual dining experience, good food, great service, non pretentious, will return to try the fish tacos and Ahi Tuna Salad!! read more
