Came here with my big family for our first meal in ATL. I left amazingly full and happy from that carrot cake. FOOD: Margarita (3 stars): Not the best I've had. Deviled Eggs (4 stars): That candied bacon on top made this dish. Calamari (3.5 stars): They give a good amount. The marinara sauce was good. Cilantro Shrimp (4 stars): Shrimp were cooked really well. They give you a lot! Rice was good too. Comes with cole slaw but you can change the side (= Mac and Cheese (3 stars): Read on here this was the best mac n' cheese. It was good but not the best. The top baked part was better than the insides. Very cheesy, too cheesy for me. Baby Back Ribs (4 stars): Meat fell off the bone, very tender. Not much meat on each bone though. Carrot Cake (5 stars): Best carrot cake I've had, and I LOVE carrot cake. So moist, comes out nice and warm, and they got the cream cheese frosting just right. Save room for this! ATMOSPHERE (4 stars) Nice big restaurant, we had a group of 10 so they had to split us into two booths. Wish they had a long table to seat us at. SERVICE (4 stars) Our waitress was great. Redlands is always a great choice when wanting to have an upscale dining experience for a cheaper cost. I haven't had anything off of their menu that wasn't delicious. They definitely take the time to get it right the first time. This location is at the Forum with stores like Trader Joes, Belk, and Barnes and Noble in walking distance. A few of my favorites from the menu are: Appetizers: Spinach Con Queso Smoked Salmon Dip Entrees: Jumbo Fried Shrimp Mr. Jack's Crispy Chicken Platter Rattlesnake Pasta Grilled Pork Tenderloin Sides: French Fries Smashed Potatoes Not Your Ordinary Mac and Cheese This place has good customer service. Food was pretty delicious! . I had steak and the NYO Mac & Cheese. Steak was seasoned just right! No sauce needed! I had a party of 15, didn't really like the fact that the tables were bolted to the floor and they weren't able to put the tables together. I wish I would've know that when/before I made the reservation for my birthday. Our two waiters weren't really on their A game, and they mixed up everyone's order. I just assume they had a long day; they seemed to not want to be there. The waiter at the table next to us lost one of the guest's credit card so everyone was in a frantic.(I hope they find it!) I felt like for it to have been 9:30, the restaurant was a little empty. Overall, nice ambiance, good food, average prices, and fast service ! A good solid restaurant with great service and decent food. Looks like this is the go-to place in this area based on the crowd. I had the steak and fries which were OK. The white chocolate cheesecake was just OK too. The service was excellent, our waitress was funny and super attentive and helpful. Prices were reasonable given the ambience. Funny thing I noticed and I am not sure if this is by design or by accident. All the bar tenders are blonde and the wait staff are brunettes. Something tells me it is by design...;-) read more

We were disappointed at our dinner after reading many favorable reviews. But in fact, our food was acceptable but not exceptional in any way, the bartender didn't mix his drinks correctly, and we thought that for the price we didn't get fair value. Maybe you'll have a better experience; hope so, but beware. The spinach con questo appetizer looked promising but was too creamy and bland to be ranked as memorable. Similarly, the ahi tuna salad was ok, but the tuna wasn't the highest quality. The ribs were pretty good, but are "pretty good" ribs worth$25? You can find much better around Atlanta. The verdict is about the same for other items our party sampled, from calamari to the tuna entree: ok, but we've definitely had better. Other quick thoughts: the noise level, in spite of a restaurant only two-thirds filled, was on the noisy side. We liked our server, a young Russian woman, who was in good spirits and gave us good service. The bartender didn't understand that a dirty martini has olive juice in it, and .... well, let's not belabor the point. You can do much better in many restaurants around Atlanta. read more

Solid choice when I'm up this way (and I'm always tempted to go there because of the good shopping in the same plaza!). Started by an old Houston's GM, hence the similarities. Good salads, good sandwiches, nice service. An old customer of mine with whom I've kept in touch since I left the insurance biz always likes to go here or to the Ted's right by, both fine by me. I'm not a huge fan of buttery rolls, but if you are, then you'll like J. Alexander's. Rotisserie chicken is nice and their veggie sides are good. I really enjoy the food here, the Norcross location is hit or miss sometimes. The Perimeter location seems to be a little more solid. I mainly come to this location because it's closer. Today was a miss, I tried a feature, an appetizer, which turned out to be not great. My waiter/bartender was great and could tell I didn't enjoy the appetizer and did something about it. I'm really confused why they would put that dish on their feature menu? The steak rolls need to be rethought or removed. The actual steak did not look appealing and wasn't that appetizing. The rattlesnake pasta, salmon, the crab cakes (when on the menu), steak, and the rotisserie chicken are always excellent options. The Mac n Cheese is the best! read more

Two word review: Blown Away! Wow, first experience here and it was outstanding. There was a 30 minute waitlist at 6:30p on a Monday so plan ahead. We sat at the (full) bar where is was quite enough to hold causal conversation. Two bartenders tag teamed us with excellent service all night. Pro Tip: if you're into Bourbon you MUST try the Knickerbocker with Angel's Envy, Angostura Bitters topped with Luxardo Cherries. If you can hold at one, you have my respect. Their cucumber martinis are fantastic as well. We shared the artichoke appetizer baked to perfection, I had the French dip with homemade Mac-N-Cheese and she had the Cobb. Delicious. We went here for a mid afternoon dinner. I had a craving for prime rib and didn't know Stoney River was not open for lunch during the week. Spinach Dip - Not what I was expecting but good flavor. This one was made with a yellow cheese and somewhat runny. Served with chips and salsa. Prime Rib - my husband and I love prime rib but found it's not always easy to find and even harder to found a good one. We both ordered medium-rare, which it was but it lacked in flavor and the outer portion that usually has the most seasoning was overly salty. We loved our mash potatoes. Grilled Pork Tenderloin - My mother and aunt both ordered this with the Thai "Bang Bang" sauce. I don't think this dish could have been better. I would order this next time. The pork was juicy and tender and the sauce was a nice touch. So good! Warm Carrot Cake - this dessert is not pretty and nothing to look at but had a really good taste! It's served warm, which I haven't had warm carrot cake before, so the cream cheese icing melts a bit into the cake. It tastes a little different than the carrot cake I'm use to but I wasn't sure why, it could just be the warmed part. Definitely worth trying! We love this restaurant, we frequent this restaurant at least twice a week, and usually, the food and our experience are great. Jason, Kelley, and Sandra are the best bartenders money can buy. Terry and Haley have to be two of the best servers they have hired; however, our server on this particular night was Tissa, and our experience was so off the mark that we felt we needed to write this review. We understand that everyone will have a bad night; with that said, Tissa was definitely having a bad night. She arrived at our table after another server took our drink order, did not introduce herself. She started pushing water on our table from the front to the rear of the table. She mumbled something along the lines of "I'll be your server." We told her we were ready to order, she took our order and left. Someone else brought out our food and drinks. Tissa walked by our table several times and never once checked on us. My meal was cold when it came out, and we wanted to let her know; however, she would not stop at our table; eventually someone else came and cleared the plates from our table. The next time we spoke to Tissa was when she was bringing us our check. She never stopped to asked if we wanted another drink or dessert. Her whole interaction with us was to take our order and get us our check. Thank God for the other wait staff who picked up the slack for her; they deserve a round of applause. This is a very nice Restuarant. Located in Norcross, Ga at the Forum Mall on Peachtree Parkway. An ex co worker invited me out for cocktails and appetizers and this is the Restuarant that was chosen. Parking is not an issue. As co workers we as a team have come here for lunch quite a few times. Salads is what I usually get as well as this fire grilled artichoke is must try!! The Asian Ahi Tuna salad and Grilled salad are my go to. Salads are somewhat pricey $ 10-$20. The $10 salad being the most basic salad they offer. I have on another occasion to have tried the deviled eggs and the Steak Maui ribeye that is marinated in some type of Hawaiian seasonings. I don't have a picture but I do recall it was delicious. We stopped in an I couldn't decide on what drink I wanted since I wanted something with a jalapeño in it. Taylor the bartender discussed different options she could create after understanding the flavor I was looking for. She made a margarita with jalapeños just as we discussed and it was perfect. My ex co worker couldn't decide on the red blend wines she sampled so she went with a basic mix drink. They don't have happy hour specials which is disappointing to me because I'm always looking for great Happy Hour specials with a great vibe. A very professional feel to the afterwork crowd. The appetizers wasn't appealing for this outing. We chose to enjoy the the drinks and move to another location for appetizers. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for classy quiet professional vibe with great customer service. This is also a great date night spot. I've always been a huge fan of J Alexanders. I frequent the one in Denver and one in the Atlanta area all the time. I will say something has been lost since it became Redlands. Just doesnt seem like the same place. The food is still really good. Both locations I go to always have exceptional service. The waitstaff are all pro's. The bar area has a great atmosphere. I can, and do, hang out there for long periods of time. Grilled Pork Tenderloin is probably the best thing on the menu. Although their burgers are a close second and they are priced right at $12.00. Steaks are in the $35 range. A little high for what you get in my opinion. I'm still a big fan. I'll be back again. read more

What a wonderful place. My wife and son took me there for my birthday. Service was prompt and just enough. Food was out of this world. We started with the Calamari and arrived at our table hot, crispy, and delicious. We ordered the pork loin, a NY strip, and the fried shrimp. All were fabulous. Generous portions and really good sides. I strongly recommend the mac cheese. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. Can't wait to go back and try the filet w/bearnaise. read more

A wonderful young lady decided to take me out for dinner just because and this is where we ended up. It's located at Peachtree Corners. The but outside of the ambiance there isn't really much else to want to come for. There was soft music playing so I would definitely recommend this place for the "romance" factor but I would just enjoy a drink for the most part if I ever decide to go back. The menu, service, and food left plenty to be desired. The menu was pretty basic. It had pretty average dishes. There was nothing that I was blown away or remotely impressed by. I can't really think of anything that stood out. I wound up going with the Rattlesnake Pasta just because I couldn't decide. The description basically read Southwestern spices, peppers, chicken, and pasta. It tasted just as bland as it was described. It had no pop. You know that first bite you have of something amazing? Yeah...that's what it didn't have. Service was less than average. Our waitress Fatimah seemed like she was serving us just because. It was as if we were interrupting her in someway by being there. We've eaten at Redlands (aka J Alexanders) many times and have had good experiences. We went today, and not so much. The restaurant had Sea Bass as one of its specials, so I ordered it. What I got looked like Mahi Mahi, so I sent it back. The inept manager came back and tried to convince me that it was Corvina - and as he put it - the White Sea Bass. A quick wiki search puts Corvina in the Drum family. Eh, Mr. Restaurant Manager you better have a chat with your supplier. Anyway, minimal apology, and an offer to make something else. Meanwhile, my wife is finishing her meal. I told him to bring back my original order. Surprisingly, that's what he did. He didn't fire me up a new one, just the same piece, now cold. When the check came, they went ahead and charged me for this imposter of a Sea Bass. I made a comment to the server about her manager's error, and didn't even get an acknowledgement. I wonder how many unsuspecting souls got cheated on their meals today? We won't be back any time soon. read more

BUZZ - Prime Rib - Calamari I TRIED - Deviled Eggs (9.9/10) - Alex Salad (6/10) - Steak Maui (5/10) There was a place down in Champaign, IL by U of I called Alexanders. You'd pay for a steak (anywhere between $10-$25 based on size and cut), and went to the fridge to claim your raw steak. They had 2 giant indoor grills with seasoning shakers, dry rubs, etc. and you grilled it yourself. Plus the price included a salad buffet. No, it wasn't the best steak, not even close, but the novelty was great! When I first heard friends rave about J. Alexanders, that U of I restaurant was all I could picture. That was probably 9 years ago, and up until now, I never went to a J. Alexanders, so I still thought that way! As soon as I walked in, I realized it was definitely not that. It felt pretty classy, but not as much as, say, a Morton's, but a little nicer than a Claimjumpers. Let me also say, their website SUCKS! I'm here in Norcross on business, and as soon as I saw the J. Alexanders, practically across the street, I was relieved that FINALLY I can go try it out. I knew it was going to be a bit pricey, so I wanted to check out their menu, and where else would you do that than their website, under the "Food" section. Well, they have about 20 pictures of different dishes. It's clearly not everything they have, but that's all they give you. What kinda BS is that?! Nowhere on the site could I find a regular menu. Worthless! So I had to go find out myself... DEVILED EGGS I pay close attention to what other people mention in their Yelp reviews (hence the BUZZ section), but for some reason, when I actually started ordering, I could only remember the last 1-2 reviews, and one of them mentioned deviled eggs. I don't think I've ever seen that on a menu in any restaurant, but I decided why not. Deviled eggs are just delicious. Period. These are mostly the same, except for one awesome addition. There are a couple small strips of bacon (think of the think tortilla chips you put in a Chicken Tortilla soup. Yeah...the red and blue ones. You get it!) on top of the yolk mix. Those strips packed a punch of flavor that added a whole new dimension to deviled eggs! The bacon, of course, added its saltiness and smokiness to the mix, but if it just ended there, I think you may have ended up with a salty deviled egg. But the bacon was candied, so it added this awesome sweetness that balanced out the salt and pronounced the flavors even more! I think there were 8 or 10 on a plate. I was sad when I took the last bite. ALEX SALAD I wanted a small salad, and the menu says you can add any salad to an entree for $3. After eating the deviled eggs, I was almost regretting a side salad...but this was no side salad! This was probably 2 lettuce leaves short of a dinner salad! Oh God! There's nothing really special about this, though. It's just lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and croutons. Everything tasted fresh enough. The croutons were mini, probably less than a cm cubed, so they were basically just added salt in a crunchy way. When croutons are too small like this, they don't really help the salad, in my opinion. I got blue cheese dressing, which is house made. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference, and even more honestly, I don't think I'm capable of telling the difference. STEAK MAUI I drew a blank. I'm not even sure WHY I ordered this. This was very unbecoming of me. I like steak for the steak flavor. I don't like steaks that have addon cheese crusts or doused in some bernaise sauce, because I'm more interested in the steak flavor. If the steak flavor is nonexistent or bad, then yeah sure, bring out the sauce. I'm sure I can sum up this steak for you pretty easily. Imagine a decent ribeye, but marinaded to the core, with TGI Friday's Jack Daniels sauce. That's it! Do I like it? NO! well...eh. I would never order it again. The steak was cooked ok, it seemed medium rarish. When I say that it was marinaded to the core, I'm serious! It's not just some sauced that was put on top of a grilled steak, but this sauce is infused with everything. One of my favorite burgers of all time is the Jack Daniels burger at TGI Fridays. I love that sauce, and it works so well with their burger and pickle..mmmm!! But, when I realized this steak was smothered in it, I felt bad for the steak, like the steak never got to live its dream of becoming a movie star, a leading endocrinologist, or a Jazzercise instructor. It had the charisma and the desire to be any of those things, but no...it was forced to be a failing plumber without a union to turn to. Whoa...that...got out of hand... Anyway, I did finish it, but I didn't really enjoy it. Part of me wanted to ask for a bun and condiments to make it into a Jack Daniels burger. It's just not for me. SIGH (NoMoreSpace)...Wasn't impressed. Won't go back. Even if I wanted to, no menu on website! Website SUX! read more
