The old adage "You can't judge a book by its cover," is true here. This place looks forgotten, ignored, unassuming, but produces the finest bakery items in Orange County. You enter and have to immediately get into a line. Inside, it is like a aged cafeteria of your childhood. You have to wait for a young lady who can't even look over the top of the counter because there is so much stuff piled high. She stands on tip toes to see you and you have to shout at her and point what you want. The problem is when she sees you, you are near the cash register, so you must say excuse me and walk in front of a line of people to point and shout out what you want. It is so poorly designed and complicated to order. We all endure because like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, the product is worth it. They sell the world's best Olive bread, scones, and strawberry crossants. If you survive the line, you make it to the cash register, pay, get a bag and leave. There is no where to sit. There is no internet. They shuffle you through and on to the next one. The pastry items are incredible and worth the trouble.

Absolutely phenomenal. Great flavor. The whipped cream is slightly too sweet but amazing otherwise. Love the red bean in here. There's a good mix of textures. Feels light thanks to the cream. Cream puff: 6/10. Was disappointed by this to be honest. Other pastries I've tried like the one in the photo are just okay. Nothing stand out. Customer service isn't great. Someone cut in front of me and they didn't care. Free parking and plenty of it since it's a large plaza.

I tried it with my wife today on 7/13/26 and the cream tasted sour... Wait, what? How??? Why??? We wondered whether it was a "new" flavor or something and realized that no, this just went bad. Granted that you are paying $12 for 6 of these, for $2 each puff this is not really acceptable at all. Sure, I called the store and they refunded me this purchase. By letting them know that they should probably throw away the rest of this batch, will this happen? The store clerk told me so, but who knows? The fact that you have to question premium stores really puts a sour taste in your mouth. It does make you wonder whether to come by again in the future or not. And that's on top of whether to trust any of the labels they provide or not....geez...

Definitely something you have to eat immediately or the texture will not be optimal or it might get soggy. We got the tiramisu croffle and they toasted it and put it together for us there. The lady working there packed it up nicely in a to go box and we got some cookies (regular ones and almond crisp ones). It's a bit sweet, but they're dessert pastries so that makes sense. Goes great with a brewed cup of tea. Croffle had a nice semi-chewy texture and the tiramisu flavor added a bit of a coffee taste to it. Good balance of the cream and croffle. The cookie wasn't too bad either. Overall not a bad to go dessert spot.

well, lets see, when you rate jj bakery in terms of the quality of pastries, you can say theyre pretty good, on the other hand, when it comes to service, they suck big time.. ive actually bought their pastries on a couple of occasions... the first time i went there, the guy(young dude) at the counter was extremely rude.. unattentiveness to the max.. i was about to pay for the goodies when he kept on wiping off gunk on the plastic trays used for shopping(as if i wasnt even there in front of him).. what the hell was he thinking? to add insult to injury, he actually didnt want to give me my receipt.. once i asked for it, he even gave me the dagger looks.. weirdo....on my second visit, i was hoping the first visit was just rare event but unfortunately, it came out just like the first... the girl behind the counter seemed like the all knowing type.. i was simply telling her that the plastic bag she was putting the pastries in was torn but she came out like she wanted to bite my head off for telling her such.. insecurity in the essence..anyway, i could keep going on with the negative comments but what the heck, i guess this store just is what it is.. and from the looks of it, other yelpers have experienced the same negativity so it isnt just me.. its jj bakery(irvine).. hahaha!! honeslty, i hope all the yelp comments help this place change for the better coz the pastries are worth it somehow, its just a shame that the people behind such products bring it down.. read more

J.J. Bakery is a hidden gem that offers a good selection of Taiwanese breads and snacks. The bakery items are delicious and the cakes are light and perfectly sweetened. The tiramisu cake is a must-try! The family-owned business is very welcoming and the service is fast. There are a few tables for dine-in and a few outside. Although the cafe is closed, you can still get takeaway and sit outside. The boba here is fresh and of good quality. However, the bakery items tend to sell out quickly, which can be a downside. One of the few drawbacks of this bakery is that every single item in the store is wrapped in plastic, which is not environmentally friendly. It's worth noting that the sweet rolls could be softer and more tender, rather than being bread with whipped cream in it. The staff can also be a little bit impatient, as one customer mentioned that the server huffed and made a face when she had to remove another tray from the display to get the customer the pastry she wanted. Overall, J.J. Bakery is a great place for Taiwanese bread, snacks, and cakes. It's a shame that they wrap everything in plastic, but the quality of the food makes up for it. If you're in the Irvine, it's definitely worth checking out! read more

Well..having been recommended here by my friends, I came with high expectations. However, their breads are soso and very traditional. The thing is... I NEVER n EVER seen a cashier that rude to the CUSTOMERS! only put on her happy face when their managers were there.. i mean..wtf?! Is that how she treats her managers as customers?! thats ridiculous! when i was standing back of a lady,one of their casheir with short hair,btw, my friend knows her,Sxkxxx..and i got to say oh MAN! she has the fastest movement i've ever seen BUT lots of errors...how sad! However, she seriously yelled at the lady in front of me becuz the lady couldnt hit their minimum charge for credit card. What kind of service is that?! J.J. Bakery in Irvine is an absolute gem, and I believe it's Taiwanese. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a cozy and inviting ambiance with the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods filling the air. It's such a treat to browse through their incredible selection of pastries, breads, and desserts, everything looks and tastes amazing. Their taro bun and hot dog bun are my personal favorites, but honestly, everything they make is fresh and absolutely delicious. The cakes are light, perfectly sweetened, and always a hit. The employees are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. While they do provide parking, the lot is always very busy, so you may need to be patient. Everything in Irvine is more expensive. About the only thing that is not is Chinese bakery. Their profit margin is huge and do not need to try to get more. JJ Bakery are owned by a few sisters, so the owners can be different person. This one has been here for a long time. First time I buy any of their bake goods. Some are outrageously priced. Just have to know what to pick and choose. I got a chocolate cake and a big cup cake. $5...it is ok.... Tasted good, but not great...this is a ok place. read more

I think this place is better than 85 degree. It's always less crowded but I find all the pastries are very good, fresh, and I feel back but I tend to pay everything with a credit card but when I swipe it for a $2 pastry I know the place is probably making next to nothing due to the transaction costs. I have ordered coffee cake and tirimisu from this place multiple times. It is in a great location but parking can be trouble at times. Try the taro milk slush. read more

i really dislike leaving bad reviews.. but unfortunately today REALLY disappointed me…read more i ordered a strawberry matcha latte (something i've gotten here MANY times and enjoyed). it came out looking pale, discolored, tasted like dirty strawberry syrup milk, and nothing i have ever tasted here before. if it were a place i'd never tried before, id move on. i tried asking if they could add a little bit more matcha, but the boy just said no ? so i tried 5 min later with a different employee, and she acknowledged that it "usually doesn't look like that". she went on to say i'd have to pay for the extra matcha shot ON TOP of the $7.50 cost. she even tried saying that after mixing the matcha with milk, that's how the color would turn out ??? (it has NEVER been that light) i'm confused,. because if you yourself know that it doesn't look right, why should one pay an additional cost to have it be made correctly? overall the experience left a sour taste in my mouth and unfortunately i don't know if i'd come back. i'd warn customers before buying this so they know their lattes are not consistently made.
