We went with family to celebrate a birthday on Monday night, 1/13 and we were disappointed to find out that the skirt steak that the birthday and others wanted was not available. This is the 3rd time in a year that we were told that this menu item was unavailable. We were shocked again so several people ordered the strip steak with loaded baked potatoes, only to find out that they were out of baked potatoes. Our dinner reservation was at 7pm. How do you also run out of potatoes? This has been one of our favorite local restaurants and we are locals and love to support our locally owned restaurants but it is becoming hard with JMarks. read more

This is a good size comfortable place. Good variety on the menu but something odd. They put ground pork in the hamburgers. I was with a friend who doesn't eat pork and we only noticed some really ambiguous small print on the menu that caused us to inquire with the server. She did not know the answer and came back to us at the table and said that she was told that there is in fact ground pork mixed with the beef in the hamburgers. This was awkward and unusual. Where do I start !!!!!! Wow, I was formally in the hospitality field for years!!! So I'm all about wowing the guest and all for them having a memorable experience!!! I was blown away by this restaurant. Get this not because of the servers but because of the manager DANNY !!!! Never have I ever seen a restaurant's management be so personable, knowledgeable and just great !!! She had many recommendations and they all were exactly how she explained to the T!!! We had a party of 10 and every person had something great to say about their dish. The friend green tomatoes were phenomenal!!!! We are going back to get another steak to go before we leave that's how amazing it was!!! It was aged for 48 hour nice and savory. Whenever we visit again we will definitely be back as well!!! I heard great things about this restaurant and my lunch today proved those people correct. I had a biz meeting with a friend so we decided to meet halfway between his office and mine. I was told that the steaks were great, but I had a late breakfast and was in the mood for a salad. The salmon salad was excellent. My biz partner had the salmon entree and he thought it was outstanding as well. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Pompano area. I will definitely return. read more

Stopped in for lunch with some coworkers. Restaurant is very nice inside and seems like a great spot for dinner. Dark, romantic ambiance. Make sure to order the bread to start. Menu is very extensive. I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad. The tuna was seared with a Cajun crust which was delicious! Salad was served with fresh mango, avocado, tomato, wasabi pesto, and balsamic. Typically I'm not a big wasabi fan but the pesto was fantastic! My coworker ordered the Shrimp New Orleans which my server said was her favorite dish on the menu. We stopped at J Mark's before heading to the airport. We were seated right away by a friendly gentleman. Our waiter was pleasant and patient while we browsed the menu. I had the chicken salad sandwich and asked for it to be served on a plate with the bread on the side which was served as requested and "very delicious". My husband ordered the mushroom burger which he said was "very flavorful" as well as huge. We were both extremely pleased with our meal and our whole experience. We eat from or at the Pmpano J Marks once a month. I do not know what has happened to the quality of the food, but our entire order was inedible, we had to through it out. First on the order was the tuna ahi appetizer. The tuna was 5 small pieces of over cooked ahi, mushy sesame noodles and 1/4 teaspoon of wasabi. Looked nothing like picture and tasted terrible. Also we ordered the J Marks chicken tender salad. There was no avacado, 6 burnt chicken nuggets and 3 croutons. That was it. No rolls and so little salad it was a joke. Grand total for this TERRIBLE snack. $48.00. We can't be more disappointed from this restaurant! I would tell anyone thinking of going to this restauraant, change your plans. Found my new favorite place in Pompano Beach. If you like steak or seafood, you will not be disappointed. Of course as my tradition, I start with a rye Manhattan. Perfectly chilled and well balanced. They are know for their prime rib which I jumped on the 12oz. This was a perfect portion. The prime rib was so flavorful that I almost didn't want to insult with au jus or horse radish sauce. But I couldn't leave the without trying some seafood so I added the crab cake. What a delightful addition to the prime rib. The crab cake was delicate and very little filling. As a northerner, I know crab cakes and this was one of the best. Hats off to Brandon the bartender for the recommendation. See you again. I have to get the NY strip next. read more

I'm leaving this review today in hopes it betters the current staff's lives for they are some of the strongest and most supporting coworkers ive ever had the pleasure of working with. And they deserve much better than what they have. And to hopefully detours future applicants from making the mistake we all have, applying to this restaurant in hopes of stable income and stable management. Only making this because the managers have actively dodged my attempts to share my thoughts to the owner privately, because all three of them are aware of their incompetence. The short description on management of Jmarks is the prime example of the The Peter Principle. The long answer is that there are three glaring issues in the running of this business. While the person in charge of managing you is the main root, she is not the entire problem. Firstly, there is a very large disconnect on what is said and what actually happens. In short get used to being lied to and being told it is 100% your fault. Scheduling is HEAVILY preached that it is about numbers and performance. This is almost never the case, in reality it is all emotional based scheduling on how much either of the managers like you. Don't dare be sick or have an emergency because the next two weeks your schedule will be screwed.  The laziest route of marketing manager making the schedule then the floor manager changing it depending on her mood that day is going to happen, get used to it. Pray to God the Dolphins don't lose or your shift is hell that day/night. The floor manager will constantly tell you about their glory days and how they were the best of the best at what they did and you will waste maybe 20-35 minutes each shift listening to the drivel before anything important happens. You could be making money during this time but the self importance rant is far more important. Yet I've never heard so many customers complain about the unprofessionalism she exudes in any business I've been apart of. The second is the strange biase the floor manager has for those she finds attractive. If you are a person who gets on her good side you will 100% be able to strike any deal you want. Especially if you're pretty. You can adjust your shifts, come in at weird hours, have no closing duties AND have the most tables over closers/openers. For obvious reasons not dropping names for terms of safety but every employee knows exactly what is being mentioned here. Come out of a shift half the time and work a closer has with double or even more so in tips. The third issue, and I believe this is just due to floor manager's overbearing micromanaging of lanes they do not belong in. The floor manager HAS to dip her toes in every aspect of the business or they 'will not be run correctly'. For the kitchen, she often has to come back and run the expo line, with three perfectly capable workers including the kitchen manager back there, because a handful of things aren't being done her way or a table or two is behind. Causing discontent not only in the kitchen, but the ENTIRE restaurant as servers have to constantly apologize for her screaming at the top of her lungs like a child. You'll never go to a 'steakhouse' (it's not) that makes you feel as uneasy and unwelcoming as this one. The front of house will be disorganized and thrown completely out of order if you have a reservation or not because again, her way. There are many more points I could make but the most glaring ones are above, I don't want to make this a novel. This place desperately needs a new coat of paint management wise and the customers are slowly starting to notice. That's why the slow encroach of lower end clientele is overshadowing regulars. Hope the owners at least read over this and reflect on what can be done better for their employees at least. They're the main victim of this abuse. Let's just start off with Chris's amazing service! He was personable, efficient and skilled at his job. I haven't been to J Mark's in quite sometime and what an experience! We had orange chicken with a ginger-soy sauce (I believe) that we ordered in addition to put on the white rice. My crab cake was so buttery and delicious. The lime vinaigrette complimented the crab cake so well! We also were treated to a beautiful and delicious warm carrot cake that just melted in your mouth. Take a bite of whip cream and a bite of carrot cake and it's pure bliss! George and Chad were the managers for the night and stopped by the table to introduce themselves and check on our meal. They had great welcoming personalities and made us feel welcome. All in all just a tremendously delightful experience and I will be back! Thank you all for a great experience! read more

So they have not updated their website prices in a few years according to the to go server. The filet tips kids meal for my son is listed as $9 on their website/menu but when I get there to pay , it's $14 plus tax. Very misleading for the customer. My wife and I were at the J Marks in Pompano Beach this week. We sat at the bar and had drinks and snacks. The server, Brandy, who was very motivated served us and the remainder of the full bar while assisting the other waiters and waitresses. She was friendly and professional. Everyone at the bar was served promptly regardless of weather it was food or drink. She had a positive attitude and engaged each customer. They sat us in a breezeway, on a long table (there were 8 of us) with poor service, a need to not split the bill, a guaranteed 20% tip, and bugger all else. We went to celebrate the long term wedding anniversary of an old mate and it was turned into a cheap 'chew and spew' by extremely poor service. We couldn't get decent drink service which manifested itself by people serving the wrong thing because they didn't have the correct ingredients. The service was, as I stated earlier, so poor we all wondered what the waiter did to earn his 20%. Again, don't blame it on Covid...just accept less diners. This was a cute place. Went for Sunday brunch as a party of 5. Waited about 20min for a table outside, inside was a longer wait time. Service was terribly slow. Didn't get menus or drink orders for what felt like forever. Ordered a sparkling water & wanted so badly to just drink out of the bottle itself. The glass smelled like a swamp or like it was washed in a canal outback. So gross. Giving this place a generous 4 stars because when the food eventually came out it was pretty good. I would go back. I ordered the walnut shrimp over rice & it was really filling. More walnut than shrimp but but still good. My party ordered burgers & soup. Everyone was happy. Our party only had time to take a few bites of our meals before we had to ask for to-go boxes & the check since we had to catch a flight. My suggestion is to go there for a meal if you have time to kill & order something you have to drink from a bottle or ask them to rinse the glasses out before serving drinks. read more

If you live in the area or you are visiting, J Mark is the place to go, especially for a special occasion, this place is Romantic and the service is top notch, the rib eye steak is very tender and delicious, I loved the Heavenly Shrimp with linguine the flavor is wonderful just the right amount of garlic, J Mark is a little pricey but again I think it's worth it, I look forward to my visits because I know I'm going to have a great meal, they have an inside and outside dining area you will love this place. read more

I have to start by thanking Francis ( hope I spelt that correct) She was great! She was so nice and helpful. I just got back from having lunch there and had to write this review. I can have dairy, but I shouldn't have it. It makes me break out so bad (acne) and itches if I do heavy cream or egg yolk. I really wanted pasta but most of the pasta dishes had a dairy sauce, and the veggie one has pesto and pesto has Parmesan. My dad was ready to order, and I was just so confused on what to get. Francis asked what I was in the mood for and pasta was my answer. I explained I can't really have the dairy. She said to tell her which dish is the one I wanted most, and she would see what should could do. I wanted the blackened chicken pasta. This dish is made with an Alfredo sauce. Can't do that. We came to lets do the blackened chicken, add broccoli, in like a garlic olive oil saucy thing. She goes back to talk to the chef. She comes back to me and explains that their pasta is made with milk. She says they have a zucchini noodle. In the end, I got a great dish! The blackening was delicious! Thank you to Francis and the chef! The only thing I would have to say I wish there was more of the garlic and salt. But that's why there is some salt on the table. Still a really great dish! Very happy! My dad got the hickory burger! He said it was really good! I have gone to J marks in the past, and I remember their appetizers being super yummy! My dad loves their calamari.
