I found this location after visiting their other location in orange across the street from the hospital where I work. I really enjoyed the location in Brea. The staff are always super nice and they're always willing to accommodate to the kind of sushi roll that I prefer. Unfortunately the orange location doesn't give me that option. This location in Brea is my go to location close to home and great prices. Definitely making this my home place for sushi! Came here with the family for dinner. The sushi isn't incredible, but it's delicious and affordable. Of the four rolls that we ordered, I think the Blazing Night roll was the most delicious. The other rolls ranged from decent to pretty good. I like to sample the gyoza in every restaurant that offers it, but the gyoza here isn't really something I feel the need to order again. Not a fan. Service was really nice, the parking was plenty, and the place is clean. Would recommend coming here if you like sushi and don't want to pay a whole paycheck to do it. read more

This review is for the Spicy Super Bowl. It consisted of imitation crab meat, thin sliced salmon, corn and a good amount of white rice. It needed a little bit more variance in their toppings because the thin sliced onions can only do so much with the sauce and melted Parmesan cheese they put in top. I didn't expect the corn to have its own section which made no sense eating rice with rice, it's better off as a topping and not a portion. The salmon had no flavor, it seemed like it had potential but this was a flop. I would stick to getting sushi which is more freshly made. read more

Horrible customer service! The 2 guys working the front really don't give a s***. No urgency to work or cater to the customers. On top of that one of the guys kept swooshing his hair out of his face by bending forward and flipping it back, and at one point even touched it with his bare hands! Yuck! The restaurant wasn't crazy busy, (maybe 7 /booths 1-2 tables for 2) by the time my husband and I got there the 3 tables that were occupied were eating, so there was no need for the long wait time on our food. To add to this, the guys couldn't handle delivering sides to the proper table (my sriracha & spicy mayo wen to another table). I don't understand how you aren't aware of what goes where in such a small place. When we got our bill everything was good, but when they brought back the receipt to sign, they had charged us someone else's bill! How the hell does that happen? They managed to figure that out and reimburse us then charge us correctly. Geez it's really not that that hard guys. I'm saying this as a former sever at many chain restaurants and private golf club! My husbands and I go to for sushi! When we were out of town, we had to buy from somewhere else and they did not measure up. Js Sushi is fresh, delicious, well made, and quite large for what you pay for! The monthly roll is at a huge discount for some special rolls and it's a good idea to get people hooked on the "expensive" rolls. They also have coupons for ordering online through their website. For two people, we usually get about 4-5 rolls and spend under $40 total with tip and we are stuffed! That's usually impossible with sushi. If youre a heavy fish/sushi critique, then I would say this is probably not the place youre looking for. ESPECIALLY, if you value the goodness of just having the fish and rice! What I meant is that this place specializes on creative special cut rolls, at least from my experience. Me and my girlfriend got the Iron Monkey and Crunchy Philly Roll. Both were amazing. They do their crunchy cut rolls differently. The roll itself is not topped by panko or crunchy bits but the panko itself is coating the rice on the rolls very unique, im with it. We also got the Izumidai and Eel sushi. Fresh and really good as well! Its run like a South East Asian joints where youre given a table, a menu, and you order at the counter. Which is very time effective if you ask me. You dont have wait for a laggy server, nor be hurried. You take your time, you order when youre ready, food wasnt slow either. Kudos to the lady that helped us! Great service, she was attentive and quick. Price? Affordable for a sushi joint. CHECK IN GIVES YOU DISCOUNT I THINK. Was craving sushi and since I've ordered both carry out from here as well as dined in I figured I'd drive over here with my husband rather than go to the one we usually go to that has WAY BETTER service and better food. Stupid of me to think "well I can save a little more money since their price point is a little better." Well, you get what you pay for! First off, we got there at 8:30p. Both Yelp and google have their closing time as 9:30p. We sat down and were told last call. Ok....so we ordered and hoped we wouldn't want anything else. Overall just awful customer service. We were totally rushed, never checked on, and because we were rushed they never even got the other roll that I ordered. She said she could still put it in but that it would come in a box. Shockingly she got the order wrong! I ate it anyway (out of the box) since I already ordered it but I hope I don't get sick because it tasted weird. Great... And when I asked what time they close since everything said 9:30p I was told "well 9:10 but for carry out it's 9:30." What?? Smh. Whatever. Never coming back here. This place is a place-your-order-at-the-register, and go-find-a-seat, and they-bring-your-food-to-your-table kind of place. Just so you know. The menu is pretty straightforward and and has slashed prices so you feel like you're getting a great deal, which in some cases you are. The California roll is by far the best deal, about $3.75/roll (8 pieces). Everything else is about $8/roll which isn't terrible. My husband ordered the poke bowl with spicy sauce which wasn't spicy but tasted good. We also ordered a combo plate that consisted of a Cali roll with teriyaki chicken on the side, small but tasty portions. The restaurant was clean and receiving our food was ridiculously quick (less than 5 minutes after we ordered), given that we we nearly the only ones there. I didn't give five stars because the service is extremely casual and unprofessional, like if your friend was serving you for the millionth time and knew you didn't care, but not bad. They are very quick with grabbing your orders and bringing them out to you. Dragon and hot night rolls are definitely a must! I ended up ordering another hot night roll before leaving. I come here quite often usually on my lunch break and typically service is great. Today was not the case. I called in my order at 11:15, they told me it would be 20-25 minutes. Cool, no biggie. It is now 12 and I still have not received my food. I'm so disappointed because that was my whole lunch break. Hence there is NOBODY here in the store so I don't know what could possibly be the problem to prepare my food. I'm giving three stars because at least I know the food here is good. Service just was horrible today. I was very disappointed. I don't mind the wait but when the restaurant is empty and you told me 20-25 minutes then it should be no problem getting it out on time. After receiving an advertising mail out that had their menu specials plus a $5.00 coupon off, I decided to try J Sushi. It's conveniently located right next to Lamps Plus in Brea with plenty of parking. This was my first time & am glad I gave it a chance. Initially I was going to just get take out but the quiet ambience & the delicious prepared plates going past me changed my mind. Brian my server was polite, pleasant & efficient with a friendly manner. Each customer was greeted coming thru the door. The place was very busy & I was promptly seated at the only remaining table inside. My lunch consisted of the #2 Beef Bento box which gave me a variety of desired items to sample, a rainbow roll & iced tea. The tempura veggies were surprisingly crisp, not greasy. Tempura is something that is either done right or it is soggy. These few pieces were crispy winners! Nice flavor on the beef & rice. Miso soup & salad also came with it which made it a very nice lunch indeed! Brian checked back to see if I needed anything else & the other friendly lady was promptly clearing off the tables when folks left. For the price, the Rainbow roll which is on the simple side tasted fine. Not an abundance of fish like at my normal sushi place (Taiko in Irvine)... but it was very good commensurate with being fairly priced. Overall I really enjoyed their service & food. This is a great place to get your neighborhood sushi fix at a great price. After the $5.00 discount coupon, my bill came to about $23.00. This place did not meet my expectations what so ever. My wife and I read the reviews for this restaurant and make a leap of faith and this this place out. Let's say we fell into a black hole of no return. We ordered a roll that was to have avocado on the top of it throughout but the "sushi chef" on put a ver small and I mean SMALL dab in the middle of the roll. The rolls looked as if they came out of a supermarket. I had to drive all the way back to the restaurant to get a refund. I will not come back to this "sushi" restaurant again. As I stated above about your "rainbow" roll about having avocado on top of it. You are correct it is meant to have a rainbow effect with many different toppings but in regard to the roll me and my wife received did not look like "rainbow" but rather a nuclear rainbow of sadness. I say this because what looked like "avocados" was in actuality some sort of brushed on mystery green and yellow concoction I could not make out at it was in comparison to the entire roll it was about the size of a quarter and not a true slice. I have been fortunate to visit Japan prior to COVID and had some great Sushi and it is appalling that you call your establishment a Sushi bar but what I can glean from my one and only visit is that it the quality is that of a Quick-Mart/Supermarket low quality Sushi you would find if you had a midnight urge for some kind of Sushi. In closing, I understand that you are a small business and it's hard right now but that is not an excuse to pass along such a poor quality to people who have not had real Sushi and make it seem it's great. Be amazing. Ps Please train your chef to control his emotions when something goes back.
